The Saluzi Story: Art-Inspired Superyacht That Costs $500,000 a Week
In the market for a yacht charter that stands out? Look no further. This seaside retreat pays homage to mystical Chinese culture. Named after an emperor’s warhorse, Saluzi boasts a remarkable street art graffiti display that was painted by contemporary artist, Li Jiwei. Talk about curb appeal. Just wait until you catch a glimpse of the 226-foot yacht from afar. Once inside, the story unfolds with art pieces that mimic the grandiose exterior. If you’re willing to pay $500,000 a week, it’s yours to charter.
The yacht can entertain up to 200 guests and sleeps 35. It’s powered by MTU engines, so it reaches a top speed of 12 knots, a cruising speed of 9 knots, and a range of 4500 nautical miles. Luxe inclusions on board are a beach club with a signature spa facility, two jacuzzi tubs, an outdoor cinema, a casino table, and an eco-friendly driving range. Not to mention, it offers a superbly-decorated VIP cabin for those who prefer finer accommodations.
Guests receive a welcome drink upon arrival to encourage a state of relaxation. Once inside, lavish interiors by the impressive Miami-based Luiz Basto stun. Some might compare the experience to quietly perusing a modern art gallery in LA. A clean and minimal aesthetic is juxtaposed by eccentric art pieces in hues of red, pink, and blue. Ultra-plush sectionals ground the space and suggest a welcoming and approachable style – details that all make sense when considering its Asian influence.
Saluzi has no shortage of patrons ready to be amused. The yacht arrived in Doha this past November and fetched a group of World Cup fans to experience the mega event from the sea. An impressive staff of 35 made the gathering an ultra-lavish and seamless affair. Similarly, CNN took part in a tour of the superyacht around the same time to report on its unique and stunning mastery.
Saluzi was originally built by Austal to serve as a cruise ship, but it was transformed into a yacht in 2014. Arguably the world’s most colorful vessel, Saluzi is available for charter year-round.

The deck crew are ready to take you on a diving and snorkelling expedition to a nearby coral reef that is teeming with sea life; SALUZI’s shallow draft means she can even venture among coral reefs and closer to the shore than most yachts of her size. Then take a spin on the dizzying array of watertoys, from the various jetskis, jet board, towables, waterskiing and wakeboarding gear to leisurely options like paddleboards and a glass bottomed kayak.
The crew are renowned for their beach BBQs, so you are whisked by tender to a secluded tropical shoreline to experience one first hand, with fun activities, cool cocktails and freshly grilled delicacies on tap. After lunch is over, everyone heads back to SALUZI for the afternoon; it is impossible to run out of to things to do, whether you crave privacy or convivial fun.
The sun deck is always inviting, with two jacuzzis and endless options for lounging both in the sun and shade. With your workout in the gym complete, an afternoon of pampering in the salon and wet spa is calling, while the children are occupied by fun party games in the upper deck lounge before an early dinner and open air movie night on the sun deck.
SALUZI’s stunning Luiz de Basto design is reminiscent of a hip Miami hotel; it is bold, bright and uplifting, with eye-catching pops of colour and original modern art. There are two plush master suites on the bridge deck, six VIP suites on upper and one on main deck alongside seven well appointed double cabins.
As the sun sets on the beautiful tropical scenery, elegant cocktails and canapes are served on the bridge deck, where you drift between the piano bar lounge and the expansive views of the exterior, with sumptuous sofas and high tables creating the mood of a chic city rooftop bar. After a remarkable Asian fusion dinner, you head to the main deck lounge where karaoke has been set up for your own private talent show, and you party the night away in luxurious style.

A truly distinguishable yacht, SALUZI is recognizable by her hull artwork by the artist Li Jiwei . “ Saluzi ” was the war horse of Li Shimin , Emperor Taizong of Tang when he was fighting with Wang Shicong in Mangshan Mountain, Luoyang. Li Shimin was separated from his soldiers amidst fierce fighting, and suddenly Saluzi was shot by an arrow. Despite his wound, Saluzi brought the emperor to safety and hence became a legend in China.
Built by the Australian shipyard Austal in 2003 as a small luxury cruise ship for Polynesia service, SALUZI was transformed into a megayacht . Boasting a brand-new interior by Luiz de Basto , she now has large public spaces and extensive deck areas. SALUZI accommodates up to 32 guests in two master suites, seven VIP staterooms and seven twin cabins. All staterooms have full entertainment systems and en suite facilities. An extensive range of water toys includes 2x Castoldi tenders, 2x SeaBob underwater scooters, 2x Yamaha jet skis and Golf driving range with ECO golf balls. Further entertainment includes a karaoke system and outdoor cinema.
Saluzi is the largest superyacht based in Asia during the winter and available for charter all year round. She offers accommodation for 32 guests across her 16 spacious cabins. On the bridge deck, you’ll find two master suites with their own private saloon, and on the upper deck, six VIP suites, a large saloon, gym and beauty salon.
Saluzi’s 469 square metre main deck accommodates another VIP suite and seven further deluxe cabins, as well as the dining room, karaoke lounge and office. Her vast and versatile deck spaces cater for entertaining on the grandest of scales and her modern, beach club décor, allows for social flexibility with friends, family and guests. Saluzi is also a great vessel for corporate entertaining or event attendance. When in port, up to 150 guests can be catered for with ease.
In the evenings, the dining room not only serves as a formal dining space but can also be converted into a professional karaoke lounge. If you prefer to watch the entertainment rather than create it, retire to the top deck for a movie under the stars. Spend your time lounging around the two Jacuzzi pools on the sundeck, indulge in the spa after a session in the gym or make use of the many water toys and diving from the expansive beach club area.
With a crew of 32 to take care of you, any request is met with positive efficiency. Within the compliment of crew are three on-board Chefs providing the finest culinary experiences. Saluzi also boasts two full time SPA therapists, and the possibility of three extra crew members tailored to clients requirements.

The superyacht has been available to rent since November and is equipped with a 35-person staff to take care of its guests’ needs. Before it arrived in Qatar , the ship was last seen in Abu Dhabi for the Formula One Grand Prix.
Once onboard, guests can swap their designer shoes for a pair of white fluffy slippers and pick up a refreshing welcome cocktail from one of the staff. The amenities include Jacuzzis, a fitness center, poker tables, swimming pools with onsite diving instructors, a putting green and a variety of outdoor spaces for relaxing and swimming. There are a total of 16 cabins on the ship, and its six VIP bedroom suites have their own balconies. The two primary suites have a private living area and terraces as well.
“We can accommodate 32 guests but we are rarely full,” the Saluzi’s captain Asparuh Chorbadzhiev told CNN . “When the people like privacy, they may only use one or two cabins, but they can also bring with them a lot of supporting staff.”
There is also a study for some meetings or a little quiet time, if needed, and a cinema room to catch up on television or watch a movie. The floating sanctuary even has a full-service spa with two licensed therapists just in case you need to work out some tension from watching your favorite team lose their match.

By Rebecca Bradbury 8 April 2016
The 69m/226ft luxury yacht SALUZI , currently gracing the waters of South East Asia , was named the ‘Best Asia-Based Charter Yacht’ at the recent Asia Boating Awards.
Celebrating the Asian maritime industry, the awards were presented at a glitzy ceremony held at the ONE°15 Marina Club in Singapore on the evening of April 7.
SALUZI fought off stiff competition from the likes of the 51m/167ft sailing yacht ‘Dunia Baru’ and the 50m/164ft sailing yacht SILOLONA to claim the title.
Originally launched in 2003 by the Australian Austal Shipyard, SALUZI began life as a luxury cruise ship, but has since been completely rebuilt and entered the charter market in 2014. Her shallow draft makes her an ideal option for exploring the exquisite cruising grounds of South East Asia and the Indian Ocean.
Based in Thailand , the motor yacht boasts eye-catching artwork along her hull by Chinese artist Li Jiwei and a similarly unforgettable interior, styled in a contemporary beach house theme by Luiz de Basto.
The list of amenities on board charter yacht SALUZI seems endless, with highlights such as two Jacuzzis, a dry and wet spa, an open-air cinema, a karaoke bar and nightclub, and a golf tee on the top deck.
A total of 32 guests can be comfortably accommodated in 16 staterooms, including two master suites, 10 double cabins and four twin cabins.
SALUZI's shallow draft makes her an ideal option for exploring the exquisite cruising grounds of South East Asia
There is a vast collection of water toys on board too, including glass-bottom kayaks, surfboards, Sea-Bobs, stand-up paddle boards and a jet board.

Table of Contents
Short Answer
The ownership of superyachts is generally private, so the exact answer to who owns which superyacht is not always publicly available.
However, there are some notable superyacht owners that are known.
For example, Larry Ellison, the co-founder of Oracle, owns the Rising Sun, which is the 11th largest superyacht in the world.
Other notable owners include Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
Overview of Superyachts
The term superyacht refers to a large, expensive recreational boat that is typically owned by the worlds wealthy elite.
These vessels are designed for luxury cruising and typically range in size from 24 meters to over 150 meters, with some even larger.
Superyachts usually feature extensive amenities and creature comforts, such as swimming pools, outdoor bars, movie theaters, helipads, and spas.
Superyachts can range in price from $30 million to an astonishingly high $400 million.
Like most luxury items, the ownership of a superyacht is a status symbol for those who can afford it.
The list of superyacht owners reads like a whos who of billionaires, with names like Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
The most expensive superyacht in the world is owned by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
While some superyacht owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extravagant amenities.

How Much Do Superyachts Cost?
When it comes to superyachts, the sky is the limit when it comes to cost.
These luxury vessels come with hefty price tags that can range from anywhere between $30 million to over $400 million.
So, if youre in the market for a superyacht, youre looking at an investment that could easily break the bank.
The cost of a superyacht is driven by a variety of factors, including size, amenities, and customization.
Generally, the larger the yacht, the more expensive it will be.
Superyachts typically range in size from 100 feet to over 200 feet, and they can be as wide as 40 feet.
The bigger the yacht, the more luxurious features and amenities it will have.
Amenities also play a significant role in the cost of a superyacht.
While some owners prefer to keep their yachts out of the public eye, others have made headlines with their extensive amenities.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, the sky is the limit when it comes to customizing a superyacht.
The more amenities a superyacht has, the more expensive it will be.
Finally, customization is another major factor that will drive up the cost of a superyacht.
Many luxury vessels have custom-designed interiors that are tailored to the owners tastes.
From custom furniture and artwork to lighting and audio systems, the cost of a superyacht can quickly escalate depending on the level of customization.
In short, the cost of a superyacht can vary widely depending on its size, amenities, and customization.
While some may be able to get away with spending a few million dollars, others may end up spending hundreds of millions of dollars on their dream yacht.
No matter what your budget is, its important to do your research and find out exactly what youre getting for your money before signing on the dotted line.
Keeping Superyachts Out of the Public Eye
When it comes to owning a superyacht, some owners prefer to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
Understandably, these individuals are concerned with privacy and discretion, and therefore tend to take measures to ensure their yachts are not visible to outsiders.
For instance, some superyacht owners opt to keep their vessels in private marinas, away from the public areas of larger ports.
Additionally, some yacht owners may choose to hire security guards to patrol and protect their vessels while they are moored or sailing.
In addition to physical security, some superyacht owners also use technology to keep their vessels out of the public eye.
For example, a yacht owner may choose to install a satellite-based communications system that allows them to keep their vessel completely off-radar.
This system works by bouncing signals off satellites rather than transmitting them, making it virtually impossible for anyone to track the yachts movements.
Finally, some superyacht owners also choose to limit the number of people who have access to their vessels.
For instance, the owner may only allow family members and close friends to board the yacht.
Additionally, the owner may choose to employ a limited number of staff to help maintain the vessel and keep it running smoothly.
These individuals may be required to sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure they do not disclose any information about the yacht or its owner.
Overall, while some superyacht owners may choose to keep their vessels out of the public eye, there are still plenty of other ways to show off the opulence associated with owning a superyacht.
From swimming pools and helicopter pads to on-board cinemas and spas, there are many luxurious amenities that can make a superyacht the envy of any jet setter.
