60m superyacht ULTRA G marks Heesen’s first yacht launch for 2023

Representing the newest addition to the prestigious Heesen fleet , the 60m (196ft) superyacht ULTRA G , previously known as Project Skyfall , hit the water during a ceremony which took place on January 27 from their Oss facilities in the Netherland's, marking the yard's first superyacht launch for 2023. 

Described by Heesen as the “ultimate expression of the knowledge and experience gained in over forty years of shipbuilding to the finest Dutch quality standards”, the all-aluminum yacht marks a long-standing collaboration between designers, with Omega Architects providing her unique exterior lines, while her engineering and Fast Displacement Hull Form comes courtesy of Van Oossanen Naval Architects. Meanwhile, London-based studio Harrison Eidsgaard is responsible for her chic interior styling.

The superyacht has been custom-built and designed for a fishing enthusiast. Described by the yard as a “sport fisherman in yacht disguise”, yacht ULTRA G features a fully operable fish cockpit complete with a fighting chair and storage for 40 rods.

Superyacht luxury

When not reeling in big fishing game, the yacht has been primed for entertainment and relaxation, and bestowed with a wealth of amenities, including a media room featuring a vast 146-inch media wall, games area and custom wine fridge in her main salon, as well as an infinity pool on her sundeck.

She even flaunts her status as a dog-friendly yacht, equipped with a dedicated self-flushing “relief area” with synthetic grass, sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

Outstanding performance capabilities

Motor yacht ULTRA G also boasts exceptional power under the bonnet, with her 22,000 horsepower being generated by quad MTU 20V 4000 engines and four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, which help lower the yacht's draft to less than three meters and reduce vibration by 40 per cent compared with traditional shafts and propellers, for a smoother onboard experience. Under light load conditions, she is capable of delivering an impressive top speed of 37 knots.

She will be accompanied by a 24-meter custom built Vanquish tender, which has been designed in the mirror image of its mothership. 

She will provide accommodation for 10 guests across five suites, including a master apartment positioned to offer complete privacy on her bridge deck, featuring a walk-in closet, large en suite with central oval tub and an intimate terrace with a Jacuzzi and inviting lounge area. Her remaining four cabins are found on her lower deck.

She is now ready for commissioning and will undergo rigorous testing in the North Sea, with delivery expected in the coming months following the successful completion of sea trials. It is not expected that superyacht ULTRA G will be available for charter once she’s delivered to her owner.

59m/193.5ft superyacht ULTRA G (ex Project Skyfall, YN 19959) is a custom all-aluminium vessel from Heesen with exterior styling designed by Omega Architects that incorporates an interior volume of 900 GT and a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Luxury yacht SKYFALL is due for delivery in spring 2023 and is the most powerful Heesen vessel so far produced, using 22,000 HP to power four water jets for a maximum speed of 37 knots. The lower deck swim platform connects to the beach club and wellness centre, where guests have access to a shaded lounge and air conditioned interior. Stairways connect up to the main deck aft where there is a fishing cockpit for the keen angler Owner and guests are provided with an outdoor lounge and alfresco dining area.

The upper deck aft is reserved for the Owner and provides a private terrace off the Master suite where there is a lounge and whirlpool tub. Forward, there is additional seating on the foredeck in front of the helm station and the bow is used for storing the larger water toys and tenders.

Above, the sundeck offers guests one last outdoor social area with sun loungers and a shaded alfresco dining area and salon amidships.

The lower deck hosts the majority of the guest and crew accommodation, with room in the stern for a beach club and wellness centre.

On the main deck, the forward section provides guests with a media centre, within which is a cinema and games table. The section amidships hosts the galley and main foyer, followed by the formal dining room, bar and main salon.

The bridge deck is dedicated to the Owner, with the helm station forward and the section to the aft contains the Master suite that opens onto a terrace fitted with an alfresco lounge and whirlpool tub.

MORE DETAILS OF HEESEN'S 60M SUPERYACHT ULTRA G REVEALED BY DESIGNER

Further details of Heesen's 60-metre full-custom superyacht Ultra G have been revealed by her interior designer.

The yacht was delivered to a new owner in March following her sale, both of which were "coordinated with the Dutch authorities", according to Heesen. She has now undertaken her maiden voyage to Guernsey. 

Ultra G is one of Heesen's most powerful projects to date with a propulsion package totalling 22,000 horsepower, including four water jets, resulting in a top speed of 37 knots in light load conditions.

Described by the yard as a “sport fisherman in yacht disguise”, the custom design draws inspiration from two previous sportfishing models built by Heesen in the nineties and features a fighting chair and storage for 40 rods.

Exterior design is the work of Frank Laupman's Omega Architects, and the studio was specifically chosen to create the yacht's unique lines, while the interior is the work of British studio Harrison Eidsgaard.

The 918GT interior includes accommodation for ten guests in four cabins on the lower deck. Meanwhile, the bridge deck has been reserved for the owner’s accommodation, which comprises a large aft-facing cabin that opens onto a private terrace equipped with a Jacuzzi and relaxation area. At the request of the owner, the yacht has dog-friendly features throughout – including a dedicated "dog-relief" area on the owner's private terrace.

Entertaining is a core part of Ultra G's design, with a custom wine fridge in the main saloon and a large media room with the latest audio-visual equipment. There is a games table on the main deck forward and a sundeck with an infinity pool facing aft.  

Replacing a traditional beach club is a fishing platform and a "Fisherman's Lounge" which complements the technical setup – equipped with comfortable sofas and live feeds from underwater cameras. There is also a wellness area featuring a spa with a beauty salon, sauna, steam room and snow room.

The waterjet propulsion drives the yacht's draft to less than three metres and helps to reduce vibrations. Meanwhile, the lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form, complete with course fins, gyro stabilisers and interceptor trim plates, promises a smoother onboard experience. The engines are also compliant with IMO Tier III regulations.

Ultra G is expected to be accompanied by a custom tender built by Vanquish to a design by Guido de Groot that "mirrors the mothership down to the last brushstroke”. When she was originally commissioned, she was also fitted with dog-friendly features including a "relief area". 

The statement from Heesen continued: "Everyone at Heesen is delighted to see another motor yacht from their full custom range sailing away and wishes her owners and crew fair winds and following seas".

This follows news earlier this month that the yard's 56.7-metre Project Akira has entered outfitting ahead of her launch.

Heesen has set the tone for another impressive year with the launch of its first yacht of 2023:  Ultra G.

Previously known under her build name of Project Skyfall,  Ultra G  takes the title of the Dutch shipbuilder ’s most powerful yacht yet, boasting 22,000 horsepower and a top speed of 37 knots.

The 196.8-ft yacht was a full-custom build, with the Heesen design team working closely to owner’s unique requirements. Among these was a desire to retain a sense of privacy onboard. As such, although the interiors have been designed for socializing, the bridge deck’s aft is reserved solely for private use.

Here, the owner can enjoy all the comforts of the master apartment, which includes a private terrace with a jacuzzi, a walk-in wardrobe and a spacious bathroom complete with a bath and separate shower.

In the main saloon, a custom wine fridge with discrete separate compartments for different temperatures acts as a centerpiece. The sleek space opens directly out onto a stylish sundeck with an infinity pool, creating ample opportunity for indoor-outdoor living.

Other owner requirements included needing extra details to ensure their pet dogs were as safe and stress-free as possible at sea. Among these extra pet-friendly features is the unique ‘relief area’, a self-flushing area of the side deck complete with synthetic grass, sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

Ultra G  will offer space for up to ten overnight guests throughout her cabins, with room for a total of thirteen crew. Smart separate stairwells not only maintain guest privacy but also allow for seamless service across the yacht.

Responsible for the yacht’s striking exterior was Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, who used strong muscular shapes and a contrasting color scheme. Accompanying the finished build is a matching custom tender.

While  Ultra G  is Heesen’s first launch of 2023, the shipyard has a further 15 vessels currently under construction, four of which are set to be delivered this year.

Heesen Yachts’ Project SkyFall Superyacht Named MY Ultra G

Simon Wittenberg takes a closer look at the 60-metre Project SkyFall Superyacht, MY Ultra G, the Dutch shipyard’s first launch of 2023.

The new year has started at full throttle for Heesen Yachts in Oss, with the opening weeks of 2023 seeing the launch of Project SkyFall, an all-aluminium, 60-metre superyacht – just 10 metres shorter than Heesen’s Galactica Super Nova .

In build since October 2020, the vessel has been christened MY Ultra G by its new owner, and will be followed by other unveilings by The Netherlands-based shipyard throughout the coming months.

The black and red exterior of the 918 gross-tonne (GT) superyacht has been styled by Frank Laupman at the UK-based Omega Architects, and draws inspiration from two luxury Heesen sportfishing yachts in the 1990s, namely the 38-metre MY Obsessions (from 1996), which was the largest sportfishing yacht of its time, until the baton was passed to the 39-metre MY Red Sapphire a year later.

MY Ultra G is capable of accommodating ten guests and 13 crew, and its luxurious interior, designed by the London-based studio Harrison Eidsgaard, features a master apartment complete with a jacuzzi, a large walk-in wardrobe, plus a large bathroom housing a central oval bath and separate shower.

The art of entertaining guests lies at the heart of the functionality of all social areas, both inside and out. For example, a custom-made wine cooler, with discrete sections at different temperatures takes pride of place in the main saloon.

The high-tech media room is home to Samsung’s new Wall TV, measuring nearly two metres by eight metres, and the elegant games table on the main deck forward, is undoubtedly the pièce de résistance. The sundeck, with its infinity pool facing aft, is the perfect setting for hosting receptions and musical entertainment.

For those who like to travel with their pets, four-legged friends are also treated to a luxurious experience, thanks to a series of carefully thought-out details to make their life at sea as safe and as stress-free as possible. These include the ‘relief area’, a self-flushing area of the side deck finished in synthetic grass, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers.

MY Ultra G is powered by four MTU 20V 4000 engines, driving four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, and delivering a staggering 22,000 horsepower. The outer powerplants, compliant with the latest Tier III environmental regulations, drive steerable jets, whilst the centre engines operate fixed booster units. With less back-pressure and a slightly higher power output, the centre engines are activated solely for the highest speeds.

Thanks to its lightweight aluminium Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF), complete with course fins, gyro stabilisers and interceptor trim plates, MY Ultra G is able to reach an extraordinary top speed of 37 knots (42 mph) in light load conditions.

The hull has also been shaped to provide a much smoother and flatter ride, when compared to a conventional semi-displacement profile. In addition, three gyro-stabilisers will keep the yacht stable at low speeds.

Before MY Ultra G is handed over to its new owner, Heesen Yachts is now undertaking system commissioning testing prior to the superyacht departing the shipyard in Oss for intensive trials in the North Sea.

Following the recent news that Heesen’s Ultra G has been sold and delivered to her new owner, the Dutch shipyard has released new exclusive images of her fresh interior, designed by British studio Harrison Eidsgaard . Previously known under her build name, Project Skyfall, the full-custom, 60-metre motor yacht is made of lightweight aluminium, which gives her an impressive 22,000hp engine capable of reaching a top speed of 37 knots. Penned by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects , the 918GT superyacht has a striking exterior profile that draws inspiration from Heesen’s sportfishing yachts of the 1990s - the 38.3-metre Obsessions and the 39.1-metre Red Sapphire - and is the culmination of over 40 years of shipbuilding experience. BOAT takes a closer look at her impressive interior features.

The main deck: the perfect social setting

The layout of Ultra G has been customised to suit the lifestyle preferences of its owner, emphasising entertainment and socialising whilst maintaining a private retreat for moments of solitude. Nowhere is this more evident than on the main deck, where every detail has been carefully considered to create the perfect setting for gathering and relaxation.

The main saloon features an open-plan design flooded with natural light, courtesy of expansive windows that offer views of the surrounding seascape. Amidships, there is a bar with a standout, temperature-controlled wine rack showcasing the owner's collection. This space transitions into a spacious lounge area, complete with a DJ deck and sound system. A formal dining area, able to seat up to 12 guests, is situated forward, adorned with an elegant oval design and illuminated by a striking light feature overhead.

One of the standout features of the main deck is the media room, located forward of the main saloon, offering a cosy space for relaxing nights in. Here, guests can curl up and watch movies in the cinema room or enjoy hours of family fun at the games table. Another area worth mentioning is the expansive garage, strategically located forward on the main deck in the bow, providing easy access to the yacht’s tenders and toys collection, which include custom-designed Seabobs and paddleboards.

The bridge deck: an owner’s dream

Whilst Ultra G accommodates a total of 10 guests across five suites, the bridge deck is reserved exclusively for the owner's pleasure. Here, there is a luxurious owner's suite positioned to face aft and featuring bespoke artworks. Entering the suite, you are welcomed by a giant statue of a whale tail before the space opens up into a spacious, cosy retreat with a king-sized bed and large sliding doors that open onto a private terrace adorned with a whirlpool and a seating area. The suite also features a spacious walk-in wardrobe, offering ample storage and a vanity table, whilst the ensuite bathroom features a standalone oval bathtub as the centrepiece with his and hers basins.

As requested by the owner, Ultra G has been thoughtfully designed to be dog-friendly throughout. A dedicated "dog-relief" area has been discreetly incorporated onto the owner's private terrace, which is cleaned automatically.

The lower deck: the ultimate retreat

A spiral staircase with intricate light features connects all four decks, serving as a visual centrepiece on board. Descending to the lower deck of Ultra G , guests will find the remaining four guest staterooms, comprising two doubles and two twins, each appointed with an ensuite bathroom. Forward, dedicated quarters can accommodate a crew of 13.

However, it is the stern area of the lower deck that truly distinguishes Ultra G from its peers. Rather than a traditional beach club, the yacht boasts a sophisticated fishing platform, complete with rod holders, flushing systems, ice lockers, freezers and live wells. Complementing this unique feature is the “Fisherman’s Lounge”, adorned with comfortable sofas and equipped with live feeds from underwater cameras. Adjacent to the fishing platform lies the wellness area, which includes a beauty salon, sauna, steam room and snow room.

Ultra G went into construction several years ago as Project Skyfall. The yacht is recognizable on the water with its bold, Omega Architects–designed exterior, accentuated with black and red lines. And while it’s suitably sporty, don’t call it a sports yacht. And though it’s packed full of fishing technology—a rare trait for a superyacht—it’s not a sportfishing vessel. Heesen calls it a “sportsfisherman in yacht disguise.”

On the aft section, designers have swapped an open beach club for a fishing platform. The space is equipped with numerous features to elevate the fishing experience—and protect the yacht. “We have rod holders everywhere and on the back deck is a flushing system,” says the captain. “There are also lockers to keep the fish on ice, freezers that flash-freeze fish down to the right temperature, and live wells for keeping the bait alive until we get to the fishing spot.”

To enhance the experience, the designers created an outdoor “Fisherman’s Lounge” in the cockpit, kitted out with comfy sofas and screens showing live feeds from underwater “fishfinder” cameras placed across the hull.

A charcoal-hued stone theme runs throughout with textured jura and veined pietra grigia limestone, which are both used generously. Textured linear wall coverings by Innovations add color and personality, while the custom furniture pieces are artworks in themselves. In the dining room, the table—in walnut with brass inlays—is a piece of art by Alex Hull, while the headboard in the bedroom is a custom abstract art piece in plaster by DKT. Even the day head has been given an artistic touch, with an accent wall featuring a custom scooped panel by Dmitri Livenstov.

The heart of the interior is the open-plan main salon. The space is wide and filled with light, thanks to the panoramic windows and sliding doors that create a connection to the outside. The lounge is fitted with bespoke features that you’d be hard pressed to find on any other sportfishing yacht, including custom temperature-controlled wine fridges, DJ decks, and a top-tier sound system that is ideal for parties.

Speaking of which, a noteworthy architectural highlight can be found on the deck above, where a staircase winds through a glass-topped atrium to the upper deck lounge to the ultimate party pad with DJ decks, powerful CAT speakers, disco lights, and even a teak-friendly machine that sprays foam to get the party started. The glass top slides back at the press of a button, and closes again to protect the atrium from rain—or, in this case, foam.

Another interesting space is the full-beam media room, located just off the main salon. Its focal piece is a giant Samsung screen known as “The Wall.” As well as movie screenings, the device can be used for live viewing, gaming, and even watching the fishing outside.

The room also has a poker table and various games consoles, including a PlayStation 5, karaoke system, Xbox, and several fish finder viewers. The setup allows guests to watch their favorite film while keeping one eye on where the yacht is sailing—and their fishing rods—all at the same time.

After a day of activities, the owner can retire to the full-beam owner’s suite. In the private hallway is a giant “whale’s tale” piece of art, a walk-in-wardrobe, a bathroom with standalone bath, and a giant bed with another huge television screen.

The cabin opens onto a private deck with a wraparound terrace that houses another unique element: a dog-relief area. Controlled through sensors and cameras, the patch of synthetic “grass” is automatically cleaned with sprinklers after a pet has done its business.

To accommodate an additional eight guests, there are four guest cabins, including two doubles and two twins. The yacht also quarters to sleep 14 crew.

Ultra G , as the name suggests, is a yacht of extremes. As for being Heesen’s best yacht ever? We’ll let you decide.

60m Heesen superyacht Ultra G nears completion

The 60-metre Heesen superyacht Ultra G has been moved from the shed as she nears completion. Photographs taken last week, show the yacht travelling to Greenport Rotterdam in preparation for her masts to be joined. The Dutch-built motor yacht is currently in the commissioning stage with construction having begun in 2021 under the name Project Skyfall.

Ultra G is the result of a collaborative effort between Omega Architects, which were responsible for her exterior styling, and Van Oossanen Naval Architects for her engineering. The 60-metre superyacht has been built and designed for a fishing enthusiast and boasts an interior design by Harrison Eidsgaard.

Heesen opted for an aluminium hull and superstructure, and Ultra G benefits from Van Oossanen’s patented Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF). Her owner will most likely spend a lot of their time on her aft deck, making use of the fighting cockpit fishing for big game.

Ultra G can comfortably sleep up to 10 guests, as well as a crew of 13. Her master apartment is located on the bridge deck and features a Jacuzzi, a large walk-in wardrobe, and a generous bathroom with a central oval bath and separate shower.

A unique feature onboard Ultra G is her dedicated ‘relief area’ for canine guests. The space includes a self-flushing area on the side deck, complete with sensors, cameras and sprinklers and synthetic grass.

Key amenities onboard Ultra G include a media room, games area and an infinity pool on the sun deck. In terms of performance, Ultra G is equipped with quad MTU 20V 4000 engines and four Kongsberg S90 waterjets, which deliver her a top speed of 37 knots.
