What happened to YachtWorld and has anything replaced it?

Way back when I used yachtworld.com to find my first two boats it felt like it listed every boat for sale on the planet. Now, not so much at all. Even if it wasn’t actually comprehensive now it feels like the number of boats listed there is a small fraction of what used to be. Is this just my imagination? And can anyone suggest a website that would allow me to shop for a boat worldwide. Google is a bit hit-or-miss. Thanks!
right now the dealers are listing everything they can get there hands on. there are not as many boats available. just for fun My son put a fore sale sign on our boat and had 5 calls the same day with 2 offers with numbers. Dealers have a wait list for people wanting boats. it has become a sellers market. I have had 2 Dealers call me and ask if I wanted to list our boat and say they have several people wanting to buy one like ours.
I don't think anyone expected to see a market like this ever again. Friends put their boat on the market this past winter, while it was on the hard. It sold in less than a week for full ask, sight unseen.
Even our local Facebook market place is waaaay down in it's boat listings...there just are not as many of them for sale that have not sold right now. Unless you are looking for an old I/O speedboat with no engine. Backyards around here are full of them, just not listed for sale.
I was on yachtworld.com couple of weeks ago. I seemed the same to as it was years ago really.

I just bought a boat in this crazy market. It was not easy with several boats selling before I had a chance to see them. I think Yacht World is the same as always - as others have suggested - it's just that the inventory is massively different.
We just closed on a boat we bought back in January and boy am I glad we started early and tromped through the snow to look! Broker said he had multiple above asking offers on the boat since we bought it, sight unseen! Crazy. At least up here people seem to have waited till spring to really go nuts. It's a sellers' market these days. That means a lot of boats won't even make it to the official listings before they're snatched up. And in this kind of market sellers don't need brokers as much. To get on Yachtworld a boat must be listed through a broker. So I'm not surprised all these factors could lead to fewer boats on YW.
Yep. For what my boat partner and I were looking for (36', older ('80s), Sabre, Bristol, etc. under $50k) even the boats listed through brokers on Yachtworld after initial inquiry sometimes got me no response or after initial inquiries asking for some specifics as to condition (for boats out of my geographical area) they wouldn't follow up after some initial questions. I get the sense that in this market the brokers listing these boats are more focused on higher dollar listings. I eventually found mine ('86 Bristol 35.5) through a local Craigslist add from an older gentleman ten minutes away. No broker. Time from original inquiry through survey to closing - two weeks. I consider myself extremely lucky. It's brutal out there. Just keep looking through all sources especially beyond Yachtworld and the other broker listing sites. Good luck.
Greetings from Vancouver Island. I've been working on finding a Beneteau to replace the 321 I sold a couple of years ago. Who knew keeping it for 20ish months probably would have made me a few more coins. We're all over boats.com, FB groups, Craigs list, and YW. Sellers market indeed. A brand new 381 fresh from France is a 2022 delivery. The adventure continues!
I just went to buy a new dinghy and the one I wanted was sold out. Each vendor I called, including Defender (who may be the largest dinghy distributor) not only said they were out of current inventory, but all their forward orders through 2022 were already purchased too. Nuts.

We have a Highfield 380 console model paired with a Mercury 40hp two stroke. It planes easily with four over-weight adults and all their stuff. Will probably hit 40mph, but we tend to putt around.
If you do not mind some trucking charges.... there are some excellent unsold sailboats in my area. The selling frenzy, while very real, may be somewhat dependent on geography. (I am in Portland, OR, on the Columbia River) Matter of fact, a friend just put his above average Ericson 33 on the market, at the club bulletin board, yesterday. It will be interesting to see if he gets any bites. He bought a much larger sailboat.)
A friend's boat has been on Yacht World for about a month now. Not a single bite. It's a ready to go 52 Irwin centerboard ketch with a beautiful interior. All amenities including water maker, washer/dryer, ice maker, even a bath tub. ...yet not a single inquiry. Located in south Florida. Being sold by a recent widow.
I was there in the early 90's, turning a database we used into the YW brokerage DB. We tested it and as an IT pro, I put many dealers on it as the go to place to shop boats. Today, it has been sold over and again, there is really not much left of the original company or spirit. In my opninion, using boats for sale dot com is a much better place to shop or sell. No useless ads and just a great place to see what's out there. Check them out online
