The World’s Most Expensive Yachts for Charter

This year has seen two of the most expensive superyachts in the world join the charter market.

By Owen Fay

The past few years have seen two of the most expensive yachts in the world join the charter market. Lana,   O’Pari and Octopus are now available for hire priced at $2.1m and $1.1m and $2.2m per week, respectively. Freshly launched, these stunning ships add to an already impressive array of superyachts on the charter market right now.

When they were first released, these ships entered an industry that is facing unprecedented challenges, with the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic still reverberating. However, as cases began to drop and travel back on the menu, chartered superyachts became the most favorable vacation option to those who could afford it, with privacy and the opportunity for splendid isolation away from crowded airports and resorts both big draws.

Here, we look at the esteemed company that Lana and O’Pari will be joining with some of the most expensive superyachts to charter.

Rate: From $3,517,000 per week Location: Mediterranean (year-round) Built: 2019 Length: 446.2 ft Guests: 25 in 11 cabins (up to 36)

Built by Lürssen and delivered in 2019, Flying Fox (pictured above) is the most significant addition to the charter market in recent times. The weekly charter fee puts her at the most expensive yacht in the world. This means she is in reach of just a select few, with Beyoncé and Jay-Z choosing her for their summer vacation in 2021.

We have covered Flying Fox in greater detail, but in short, this is a one-of-a-kind vessel that offers a truly unique experience. At a hulking 446 ft, space is no issue with the yacht home to two helipads, a two-story spa, a 40-ft swimming pool, which is unique for a yacht of this size, and a full gym and beauty center, among other similarly impressive features.

It is worth drawing special attention towards the vessel’s cryotherapy chamber, as it was the first to ever be installed on a private yacht and can reach -166 Fahrenheit. With 54 expert staff on board, including some former Olympians, Flying Fox is well-equipped to look after up to 36 guests, either in the West Mediterranean in the summer months, or the East Mediterranean for the rest of the year. Whichever option is chosen, this superyacht is the peak luxury experience.

octopus is one of the most expensive yachts to charter

Arguably one of Lurssen’s most iconic yacht builds, despite being first delivered in 2003 Octopus  has only recently come to the charter following a sale. The 414.1-ft ice-class vessel isn’t short on exciting features to shout about, with two helipads, seven tenders, a swimming pool, library and even a glass-bottomed aquarium. Accommodations are suitably luxurious with a lavish master suite and two VIP apartments, as well as seven doubles and three twin rooms.

Octopus  has seen plenty of sights in her lifetime with her first owner, the late Paul Allen, frequently loaning her out for exploration projects and research missions. While her new owner remains undisclosed, it has been noted that they are keen for her to continue being used for meaningful expeditions – as well as the odd cruise around paradise, of course.

world's most expensive charter yacht

When she was first delivered in 2020, Lana took the title of Benetti’s largest-ever build at 351 ft and a maximum beam of 50 ft. While she has now been surpassed by the likes of Luminosity and M/Y IJE, she’s still a force to be reckoned with, and the $2.1m weekly fee goes a long way with this much space. Benetti’s Italian craftsmanship is on display in the seven VIP staterooms, along with one master suite. The rooms are able to accommodate 12 guests in these eight cabins, with each room equipped with an individual color scheme and panoramic windows.

Lana is kitted out with everything we have come to expect with a superyacht of this size, featuring a spa, gym, cinema, helipad, and outdoor pool. Perhaps most striking is its Beach Club which comes with folding terraces. Currently situated in the Middle East, this impressive superyacht is well-prepared for a full season of cruising.

Delivered 12 weeks ahead of schedule in the summer of 2019, Madsummer is a striking vessel, designed by the renowned Espen Oeino. Studio Laura Sessa furnished the interior, making use of a broad and bold color palette. Each of the 10 staterooms have a custom color scheme that is both contemporary and tastefully finished. Sessa has applied similar levels of customization throughout the ship. One notable detail of this is the custom-built dining table (a work of art in itself), which is topped off with layers of colored lacquer for a beautiful result.

For the nautically inclined, the ultra-modern bridge is situated alongside the master suite, allowing the charterer easy access to the organizational hub of the yacht. The vessel’s fundamentals are state-of-the-art, with a 125kW, lithium-ion battery pack as just one example of this. This battery means less fuel is required and helpfully retains any excess energy produced.

Also a relatively new vessel, Lady S was delivered in 2019 by Dutch builder Feadship. The interior was designed by Reymond Langton and described by them as “a contemporary jewelry box”, with the glitzy white and crystal chandeliers just one detail that highlights the truth behind this statement. Such is the quality of its construction Lady S was the recipient of two awards from Boat International for both its interior and exterior design.

Beyond aesthetics, the vessel is equipped with all the amenities and facilities that any charterer could desire, making her worthy of being on any list of the most expensive yachts. This includes the very first IMAX cinema to be installed on a yacht, a basketball court and ice plunge pool, along with all else that you would expect in this price range.

Aquarius is an eye-catching vessel. Her all-white four-deck exterior was designed by Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design and built by Feadship. The company was also responsible for its interior, one of its notable features being the floor-to-ceiling windows that surround its outsides. In keeping with its ambitious glass work, there is a bar at water level underneath a glass-bottom pool, that when emptied can turn into a dance floor. Based in the Mediterranean in the summer and the Caribbean in the winter, Aquarius has six VIP cabins, with a private deck for the master suite, suitable for 14 guests in total.

Kismet has more than a touch of glamour about her, previously hosting Beyoncé and Jay-Z, along with other celebrities, while it has recently featured in ‘Six Underground’, Michael Bay’s $150 million film. With this level of celeb appeal, it’s no surprise that she’s one of the most expensive yacht charters on the market. The appeal is clear with the ability to hold large parties for up to 270 guests and two helipads for ease of access for the world’s ultra-high-net-worth individuals.

Owned by Shadid Khan, owner of NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, Kismet features a large silver jaguar at the bow in a nod to his team. The interior was designed by Reymond Langton, who was inspired by “champagne and caviar”.

Lengton has successfully combined traditional opulence with the latest technology, including state-of-the-art video walls that can switch between regular television and moving artwork. The deck is laid with black marble, while the master suite’s bathroom contains an onyx bath that oozes glamor.

best superyachts to charter

This striking (and expensive) yacht is sure to turn heads wherever she goes. Designed by Winch Design, Excellence remains at the forefront of what a modern superyacht should look and feel like. The curved floor-to-ceiling mirrored glass is designed to reflect her surroundings. Natural light floods through the triple-height glass atrium and the full-height windows. Her striking and angular plumb bow gives her the unmistakable look of a futuristic spaceship. There is a large swimming pool with a swim-up bar on the main deck aft and an upper deck entirely dedicated to the owner. Above the owner’s deck is the substantial sun deck with a lounge area and jacuzzi. There is also a large water-level tender garage where the yacht’s limousine tenders are stored.

At just under 312 ft, O’Pari is the largest superyacht Greek yard Golden Yachts has produced and was delivered in June of this year, quickly becoming one of the most expensive yachts in the world. Both the interior and exterior were designed by Studio Vafiadias and part of the brief was to commission a custom art collection for display onboard.

The theme chosen for this was the relationship between man and nature, a particularly apt choice given the generous outdoor space on O’Pari . This includes a huge sky lounge, with panoramic ocean views, as well as a bar with DJ booth and an alfresco dining area on the upper deck. Also on the upper deck is the master suite with all other guests suites located on the main deck. Available to charter in some of the most attractive regions in the world, the Golden Yachts flagship is an outright success and is one of the most attractive high-end options out there.

Flying Fox underway at sea

10 facts about Lürssen's 136m superyacht Flying Fox

Related articles, superyacht directory.

Famous for being the largest and most expensive charter yacht in the world, Flying Fox has been garnering the attention of superyacht enthusiasts since it first hit the water in 2019. Built by German yard Lürssen , the 136 metre yacht features vast living spaces thanks to a 20.5 metre beam, resulting in a huge 9,100GT interior.

Designed by Espen Øino , with interiors penned by Mark Berryman , Flying Fox is packed with premium superyacht features, some of which are rarely seen on yachts. These include a cryosauna, extensive dive centre/ kite surf store and two galleys fitted out with the equipment of chef’s dreams. With all this on board is it any wonder that Flying Fox has proved popular with celebrity superyacht enthusiasts including the likes of Beyonce and Jay Z . BOAT rounds up some of the most unusual facts about the coveted superyacht, starting with its famous price tag.

1. Flying Fox is the world’s most expensive charter yacht

Since being delivered in 2019, Flying Fox has been making and breaking records. As well as being the world’s most expensive charter yacht, setting you back a total of €3 million a week, Flying Fox is also the world’s largest charter yacht.

2. The tender garage can hold a personal submarine

An extra hatch was installed in the tender garage to allow guests to enter the submarine straight from the deck above. The submarine is deployed from a specially designed rack, which is picked up by the crane.

3. Flying Fox is popular among celebrities

With a steep price tag of €3 million a week, Flying Fox attracts some of the most famous celebrities in the world who charter the yacht in locations including the French Riviera and the Aegean coast. Most recently, power celebrity couple Beyoncé and Jay-Z were spotted relaxing on board while the yacht was cruising Cannes and Antibes.

4. The exterior was designed by legendary superyacht designer Espen Øino

Flying Fox’s spectacular curving exterior spans 7,000 square metres and makes the yacht instantly recognisable on the horizon. Flying Fox’s exterior, which features a dove grey hull, was penned by leading superyacht designer Espen Øino, who counts standout superyachts such as the 126.2 metre Lursssen yacht Octopus , 85.3 metre SilverYachts-built Bold and soon-to-be largest explorer yacht in the world REV among his creations .

5. There are five fireplaces on board

Flying Fox includes no less than five real fireplaces on board, helping to create a decidedly cosy atmosphere inside the interior. One can be found in the owner’s cabin sitting room. They work as normal fireplaces but are accompanied by “insulated ducts” which force the smoke through the mast and means the yacht meets marine safety regulations.

6. An in-built irrigation system ensures Flying Fox’s plants stay well-watered

One of Flying Fox’s most unusual features is the greenery in the saloon, which is found bordering the staircase down from the upper deck and in planters set into the balustrade. The space even includes two towering ficus trees. A full irrigation system designed by Mark Berryman was incorporated into the yacht, which links down to the engine control room. There are different watering schedules and nutrients according to the different plants, as well as specialised lighting systems to ensure they receive the correct amount of UV without bleaching.

7. There are two galleys on board producing a maximum of 246 meals a day

It takes a “human engine” to run the might of Flying Fox , according to its captain, with a total of 55 crew on board. Working at a full capacity of crew plus 25 guests means that Flying Fox must produce a maximum of 246 hot meals every day. As a result, Flying Fox carries four chefs working across two different galleys: one for crew and one for guests. The crew’s galley carries a pasta machine and prep area, a lobster tank for fresh seafood, a sous-vide water bath and freezing blenders for creating purées and ice creams.

8. Flying Fox features the first cryosauna ever installed on a yacht

Flying Fox’s 22.5-metre-wide bathing platform leads into one of the best and biggest spas seen on a superyacht to date, which is spread across two floors. With heated limestone floors, the spa includes a 400-square-metre “sea lobby” leading to a huge spa pool holding water that can be changed from steaming to icy within a matter of 10 minutes. But the piece de resistance is the cryosauna which comprises an antechamber at -60 ̊C leading into a main chamber at -110 ̊C. The maximum period inside is recommended at three minutes after which guests emerge with a post-sprint endorphin rush.

9. The dive centre features enough gear to make even hardcore enthusiasts swoon

A combination of a dive centre and kite surf store sits to starboard off the sea lobby on the lower deck. There’s enough equipment here to stun even the most advanced divers, from an advanced nitrox mixing system to a super-quiet compressor. Divers of all levels can be catered for – from beginners starting in the main deck swimming pool to certified clients who can undertake expeditions down to 100 metres.

10. The outdoor kitchen can cook a whole lamb

Designed around a preference for eating al fresco, Flying Fox includes an extensive outdoor kitchen on the bridge deck aft which includes a wok station, coal-powered Spanish grill called a Josper, and a rotisserie capable of cooking a whole lamb, goat, or suckling pig. Also included is a churrasco (steak) oven, pizza oven, teppanyaki and tandoori grill. This arrangement allows guests to watch the chef at work from an extendable dining table.

The World’s Most Expensive Charter Yachts

The world’s most expensive charter yachts, the world’s most expensive superyachts for charter.

Looking to splash some cash? We round up the world’s most expensive superyachts for charter on the market right now, for those seeking a truly memorable vacation on board a supersized luxury yacht. From fun-filled family charters packed with the latest toys to DJ booths and state-of-the-art sound systems for those looking to throw the ultimate party at sea , these multi-million-dollar charters have it all…

Renaissance

world's most expensive charter yacht

Following her launch in early 2023, the 112-metre motor yacht  Renaissance  has not only joined the charter fleet but is now one of the most expensive yachts for charter . Built by the Spanish shipyard Freire,  Renaissance  is the largest yacht built in Spain and one of the largest projects designed by the British studio  Bannenberg & Rowell .

While her sheer size could justify her hefty price tag, her masterful interiors – which include a double-height dining saloon and a private owner’s deck – are impressive enough to fathom the cost. With a sophisticated neutral colour palate and tactile furnishings, the 112-metre has been designed with multi-generational charter in mind. Across her six decks,  Renaissance  has an expansive beach club stocked with the latest water toys, plus a bar and waterside dining area. A large swimming pool sits on the main deck aft and there is an entire spa deck, which includes a fitness centre, hot and cold plunge pools, a steam room and sauna, treatment rooms and hair and beauty salons.

Renaissance  is managed for charter with Burgess.

Lady Jorgia

world's most expensive charter yacht

Stats : 115.1 metres, Lürssen, 2022, 16 guests, 36 crew

Lady Jorgia   (ex.  Ahpo ) made waves when she left the shipyard at Lürssen with her striking duo-tone exterior and half-moon windows. The 115.1-metre superyacht hit the headlines earlier this year when she was sold in what was believed to be the biggest brokerage deal in history.

If her commercial helipad and world-class gym aren’t enough to tempt you on board, perhaps the yacht’s two-storey owner’s suite or eight-metre swimming pool might. Wellness is at the heart of a charter on board  Ahpo   seen in her nature-themed spa, complete with a massage room, Himalayan salt sauna and a Turkish-style hammam finished in vibrant mosaics and ivory onyx.

Nature is another theme that continues throughout the vessel, seen in the choice of artwork, the central staircase (which depicts an olive tree) and the grand dining room, which is themed around water lilies. She also has a full-time crew of 36, on hand to ensure that every whim is catered to.

15 Most Expensive Yachts In The World | 2024 Edition

While there is no official definition of a yacht, it can be simply described as a large vessel (with cabins) intended for luxury or pleasure purposes. Any yacht over 40 meters in length is usually identified as a superyacht.

Modern superyachts are designed with the utmost focus on comfort and power. They are required to accommodate various luxurious amenities to cater to every need of the owner and guests. It includes anything from swimming pools, spas, and entertainment centers to water sports toys and helipads.

While some superyachts are exclusively used by their owners, many are offered to charter businesses through which these superyachts can be rented or chartered. The cost of leasing a superyacht could be anywhere between $80,000 to a staggering $4 million per week.

So what are the most expensive yachts in the world? Who owns them, and what extravagant amenities do they have? Let’s find out.

The superyacht is fitted with state-of-the-art zero-speed stabilizers that reduce roll while being anchored or not underway. It features amenities such as a swimming pool, spa, a tender garage, and two helicopter landing pads, one on the top deck and another on the bow.

Nord is owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov, the chairman and majority shareholder of the biggest steel and mining company in Russia – Severstal.

11. Pelorus – $300 Million

Pelorus superyacht

Launched In : 2003

Builder : Lürssen Current Owner : Samuel Tak Lee

Pelorus is the oldest superyacht on this list and has a rich history. Since its completion in 2003, the vessel has changed hands several times.

Pelorus was initially ordered by a Saudi businessman named Sheikh Abdul Mohsen in 1999. The construction started in the year 2000 and entered service two years later in 2003.

However, the yacht was sold to the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich within a year of its launch. As a new owner, Roman Abramovich made several modifications to the superyacht, which included adding a second helicopter pad.

In 2011, Pelorus was bought by David Geffen for about $300 million. But he sold the yacht after a brief period to sultan Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan of UAE.

The superyacht changed ownership again in 2016. Its current owner is Samuel Tak Lee, a Hong Kong-based real estate billionaire.

At 115 meters in length, Pelorus is perhaps the smallest superyacht on this list, but it is still a gigantic vessel. For perspective, the total length of an entire football field is 110 meters. It has a volume of 5,317 gt.

Pelorus has a cruising speed of 14 knots or 26 kph and a reported maximum speed of 20 knots (37 kph).

10. Dubai – $400 Million

Dubai superyacht

Launched In : 2006

Builder : Blohm+Voss Owner : Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum

‘Dubai’ is a superyacht owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the vice president/prime minister of the United Arab Emirates. It is currently the tenth most expensive superyacht in the world.

Until 2009, it was the largest private superyacht in the world but was surpassed by Eclipse, Azzam, and Fulk Al Salamah.

The yacht is built by Blohm+Voss, a German shipbuilding company best known for producing the German battleship Bismark during World War II. Blohm+Voss was acquired by the Lürssen shipyard in 2016.

Dubai superyacht is designed by renowned yacht designer Andrew Winch along with interior designer firm Platinum Yachts.

9. Eclipse – $438 Million

Eclipse superyacht

Launched In : 2009

Builder : Blohm+Voss Owner : Roman Abramovich

Eclipse is a massive superyacht owned by Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich. He is currently the 13the richest individual in Russia and made his wealth through the steel industry and other investments.

After its launch in 2009, Eclipse became the world’s largest private yacht. However, it has been surpassed by Fulk Al Salamah and Azzam in recent years.

Eclipse was built by Blohm+Voss, three years after the Dubai superyacht, in 2009. Its estimated cost is around €340 million.

The superyacht accommodates about a dozen of luxurious cabins for guests, two helipads, an entertainment hall, and a mini-submarine that can submerge up to 50 meters below the surface.

While it is clear that Eclipse is no ordinary superyacht, what makes it truly stand out from the rest is its military-styled missile defense system that detects and fires missiles at possible threats.

The yacht also features an ‘anti-photo shield’ for enhanced privacy. When activated, the shield detects a CCD sensor (closed coupled device) and fires a shot of laser in its direction to destroy any photographs. However, the effectiveness of such technology remains debatable .

Eclipse has a length of 162.5 meters and a volume of 13,000 gt. Its beam is 22 meters, and the draft is 5.9 meters. The vessel is powered by four MTU diesel engines and has a maximum speed of 22 knots or 40.7 km per hour.

It requires about 70 crew members to serve all the guests. Eclipse was last seen at a small village port in Turkey.

8. Flying Fox – $455 Million

Flying Fox

Launched In : 2019

Builder : Lürssen Owner : Dmitry Kamenshchik

The Flying Fox is a luxury yacht built by Germany’s Lürssen shipyard in 2019. It is perhaps the world’s largest and most expensive yacht available for charter. A week-long vacation on this superyacht would cost you about $4 million.

This spectacular vessel is a result of collective design work from interior designer Mark Berryman and renowned superyacht architect Espen Oeino . Apart from the Flying Fox, Mr. Oeino is known for his work on other superyachts such as Silver Fast and Octopus (owned by Microsoft’s co-founder Paul Allen).

Like most modern superyachts, the Flying Fox is primarily centered around wellness and watersports themes. Its exceptional tender garage carries nearly every water sports equipment from hoverboards and seabobs to windsurfs and flying boards. Moreover, it also carries a personal submarine that can be launched using a crane.

Often regarded as a ‘floating resort,’ the superyacht has guest suits, a two-level saloon space, a specialized gym, multiple fireplaces, and lots of greenery.

But perhaps its most eye-catching feature is the 12-meter deck pool with adjustable height floor, massage jets at one side, and swim jets at the other. Moreover, the yacht also carries a cryosauna which can help you emulate the post-workout endorphins rush.

Due to the sheer size and splendor of the Flying Fox, it was speculated that the yacht was owned by Jeff Bezos (the world’s richest person in 2019).

However, in 2022, it was revealed that the actual owner of the yacht is a Russian oligarch named Dmitry Kamenshchik.

The Flying Fox measures 136 meters in length and 9,022 gt in internal volume. It has a beam of 22.5 meters and a draft of 5.1 meters. It is currently the 22nd largest yacht in the world by length.

The overall internal volume of Solaris is about 11,000 gt. It has a total of eight decks with a capacity of 36 guests and 60 crew members onboard.

Solaris is powered by two high-tech marine propulsion units called Azipod, which consists of an electric motor driving a fixed pitch propeller. It is mounted on a steerable pod that allows the vessel to be more maneuverable.

More To Know

How long it takes to build a superyacht.

The construction of a superyacht is usually done in four phases – planning or design, engineering, superstructure construction, and outfitting.

It takes about three to four years to build an entire custom superyacht. While it takes less time to construct a vessel on a pre-developed platform with standard elements, building a customized superyacht that caters to all your requirements takes more time. You also have to take unexpected delays into consideration.

The design or planning is the most critical phase in a superyacht construction. Considering the budget and specific requirements, the entire process could take between nine months and a year.

The Current International Market for Luxury Superyachts

The yacht industry is on the rise, and the demand for luxury superyachts has exploded in the last few years during soaring stock markets and crypto gains. Most of the demand is from the United States.

The global yacht industry is valued at $64 billion in 2020 and is expected to reach $84.7 Billion by 2027 growing at a CAGR of 4.1 percent.

According to Boat International’s Global Order Book, about 1,024 superyachts are under construction or on order globally in 2022. It is about a 25 percent increase from the last year’s 821 vessels.

A large chunk of these under-construction superyachts is semi-custom options that are relatively smaller in size than most superyachts on this list. Moreover, about 33 percent of these orders are some sort of expedition superyachts that can sail through ice and other remote regions of the world.

Whether you use this list for inspiration for your next trip, or are just curious about luxury vessels, you’ll enjoy our roundup of the 30 most expensive yachts in the world .

Crew Size: 70 members

Size: 533 ft. long

Builder: Blohm & Voss

Eclipse is a stunning superyacht owned by Roman Abramovich, a billionaire Russian oligarch. Featuring amenities such as a gym, a dance floor, a beach club, a beauty salon, two helipads, a 16-meter swimming pool, and a state-of-the-art security system.

The missile detection system and bulletproof windows in the master suite also add an extra level of security.

2. Scheherazade

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $700 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 40 members

Size: 459 ft.

Builder: Lurssen

Previously named Lightning, the Scheherazade is a motor yacht that’s fit to entertain with two helipads, two jacuzzis, two outdoor fire pits, a movie theater, a spa, and a gym.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $600 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 80 Members

Size: 524 ft.

Launched in 2022 by Lurssen, Blue is one of the largest yachts in the world. This megayacht can accommodate approximately 48 guests in 24 luxurious staterooms. Featuring two helipads, a teak-paneled deck, a steel hull, and an aluminum superstructure, this is a true statement of gorgeous naval architecture.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 600 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 60  members

Size: 590 ft. long

Builder: Lurssen Yachts

Complete with a missile defense system, a bullet-proof master suite, and the ability to reach speeds of 35 mph, the Azzam was made with security in mind.

While the vessel is the largest superyacht in the world, it was designed with elegance in mind, too. The Azzam was made in reverse, with the interior plans drawn up before the exterior plans, making the Azzam sleek and efficient.

5. Crescent

world's most expensive charter yacht

Size: 445 ft.

Despite being one of the world’s most expensive superyachts, the Crescent is a bit of a mystery—even to insiders in the yachting world. The ship’s owners have remained anonymous and little is known about the ship’s interior. The few details we know, however, are impressive.

The yacht has a beach club, large swimming pools, a huge master suite, and a state-of-the-art entertainment system.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 60 members

Size: 461 ft.

Builder: Lloyd Werft

If you love water toys and subs, then you’ll likely find the Solaris impressive. The Solaris features a crane to launch toys, subs, and tenders.

One of the major attractions of this vessel is the beach club on the top floor. It’s an ideal location for soaking in the sun and relaxing after a long day of play.

The Solaris is an explorer yacht and is also the largest yacht built by Lloyd Werft. We don’t have many details on the interior design, but if the sleek, white, beautiful exterior is any indication, it’s likely exquisite.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 527 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 79 members

Size: 482 ft. long

Year: 2012

While this yacht was originally known as Topaz, it now goes by “A+”. When it first launched, it was the fourth largest luxury yacht in the world. Though the A+ was robbed of that title a few years later, it’s still an impressive superyacht.

The amenities include a jacuzzi, swimming pool, double helipad, cinema, gym, and multiple conference rooms.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $500 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Size: 465 ft.

Nord was designed for global exploration and has an extremely distinctive exterior design. The bow aesthetic has never been seen before on any yacht and it makes for a striking first impression.

With a sports and diving center on the lower deck and a swimming pool higher up, the superyacht is an athlete’s dream.

9. Fulk Al Salamah

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 100 members

Size: 538 ft.

Builder: Mariotti

With a name that translates to “Ship of Peace”, this yacht was designed for a genuinely relaxing voyage. Although the yacht isn’t currently used for recreation (it operates as a support vessel and transport ship for the Royal Navy of Oman), the ship has the same layout and amenities of a superyacht.

10. Motor Yacht A

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 440 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 42 members

Size: 400 ft.

With a 2,500-square-foot master bedroom, a disco, a helicopter hanger, a 30’ separate speedboat, and a glass-bottom swimming pool, this yacht deserves its “A” name.

It’s widely considered to be one of the largest superyachts and can accommodate up to 14 guests and a 42-member crew,

11. Flying Fox

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $400 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 54 members

Size: 446 ft.

Known as the most expensive charter yacht in the world, the Flying Fox has all the amenities of a floating resort, including a cinema, beauty salon, luxury spa, pool, and gym. It’s little wonder that Beyonce and Jay-Z chartered the vessel in 2021.

A week aboard this yacht costs around $3 million.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 88 crew members

Size: 531 ft.

Builder: Unknown

This yacht carries a rich history. It’s owned by the ruler of Dubai (hence the name), though it went through several name iterations during the planning process, including Panhandle, Golden Star, and Platinum.

The fine dining room on the lower deck is massive—it can accommodate up to 90 guests—and is painted in stunning blue and burgundy tones.

This floating palace features VIP and social areas and a split-level owner’s deck.

13. Radiant

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 320 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 44 members

Size: 361 ft.

If you have a fear of pirates on the high seas, you’ll appreciate one of the more unique features of the Radiant: the water cannon! This superyacht is equipped with a high-powered water cannon to defend against pirate attack.

It also has multiple swimming pools, a helipad, a massage room, a movie theater, a gym, a swimming platform, and a jacuzzi.

14. Al Said

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 300 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 154 members

Size: 508 ft.

This superyacht was built in secrecy, and not much is known about it even today. The Al Said has a colossal concert room with enough space for a 50-person orchestra. Other than that, her amenities and movements remain a mystery.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $300 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 52 members

Size: 439 ft.

Builder: Fincantieri

Year: 2011

It’s safe to say they spared no expense during the building of the Serene; It’s currently the tenth most expensive yacht in the world.

The Serene has multiple swimming pools, two helipads, a submarine, and an underwater viewing room.

16. Pelorus

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 46 members

Size: 377 ft.

The Pelorus is the kind of yacht that exists on a plane above the rest. It’s one of the biggest yachts in the world and can cruise at a top speed of 20 knots. The private deck attached to the master suite is entirely private and can’t be seen from any other part of the yacht.

The yacht also includes two helipads, landing boats, and jet skis.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $256 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 48 members

Size: 360 ft.

Dilbar was originally known as Project Omar and includes a spa, pool, beach club, private cinema, and spacious cabins that are as high up as the main deck. It even has a spacious dining room and a salon with a piano.

It may be smaller than the other yachts on this list, but it’s classy and spectacular both inside and out.

18. Seven Seas

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $250 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 30 members

Size: 358 ft.

Builder: Oceanco

This is the second Seven Seas yacht built by Oceanco, the 2010 version of the yacht now being named Man of Steel. The owner being the master director, Steven Spielberg himself, this yacht is known for its luxury cabins and beautiful architecture. While it may not have the bells and whistles of some superyachts, the Seven Seas demands to be admired.

19. Al Mirqab

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 55 members

Size: 436 ft.

Builder: Peterswerft-Kusch

Year: 2008

When Al Mirqab was completed in 2008, it was called the second most beautiful yacht in the world.

The Al Mirqab features 10 staterooms, VIP suites, a helipad, an enormous swimming pool, a cinema, a jacuzzi, and all the watersports equipment a person could want.

20. Lady Moura

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 210 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 60 members

Size: 344 ft.

Year: 1990

This superyacht comes with a wide variety of impressive features that include a pool with a retractable roof, a helicopter, and ship-wide decorative lettering and embellishments made of 24-karat gold. But perhaps most impressive is the sand-covered hydraulic platform that extends out the side of the vessel to give guests a unique, beach-like experience in the middle of the ocean.

An interesting experience Lady Moura had was when she ran aground during Cannes film festival in 2007 and took on water.

21. Octopus

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 200 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 56 members

Size: 414 ft.

Year: 2003

Few yachts can compete with the lavish interior of the Octopus. This superyacht includes a large study, a basketball court, a glass-bottom swimming pool, a recording studio, and an outside bar with a whirlpool.

You’ll also find not one, but two submarines aboard and two helipads.

22. The Rising Sun

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $200 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 45 members

Size: 453 ft.

Builder: Lurssen

This massive vessel has 82 rooms over five different floors. It also has a basketball court, a movie theater, and a wine cellar.

The Rising Sun is currently the 12th largest superyacht in the world, and it continues to undergo numerous updates to its fixtures and fittings.

23. Ecstasea

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 24 members

Size: 282 ft.

Builder: Feadship

The Ecstasea (get it, Ecstasy?) has more than just a clever name—Thanks to the ship’s many artistic design details, the superyacht has won multiple design awards for its stellar interior.

The Ecstasea features a massage room, gym, sauna, several indoor and outdoor bars, and a steam room.

24. Man of Steel

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 184 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 28 members

Size: 282.2 ft.

The Man of Steel has a contemporary and elegant interior that was designed with careful attention to detail.

Packed to the brim with luxury features, this yacht includes a touch-and-go helipad, a cinema, a private owner’s deck, and a variety of custom-built tenders.

25. Solandge

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 180 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Size: 280 ft.

The Solandge is another yacht-for-charter that costs about $1.1 million for a week-long charter vacation. This superyacht has numerous unique facilities that make it worth the expensive price tag, such as eight VIP suits, a glass art installation by Murano, and a grand piano.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 150 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 25 members

Size: 322 ft.

Builder: Abeking & Rasmussen

The Aviva boasts a full-size tennis court and a collection of precious art pieces (including a Picasso).

The ship’s interior prioritizes comfort and a welcoming feeling of “home,” as the ship’s owner lives on the yacht for several months a year.

27. Lionheart

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $150 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Size: 295 ft.

Builder: Benetti

Year: 2016

With six VIP suites, luxury pools, and private balconies, it makes sense why Lionheart has attracted famous faces such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Kate Moss, and Simon Cowell. Lionheart is Benetti’s largest yacht since Nabila, which was later called Trump Princess and owned by (you guessed it) Donald Trump.

28. The Maltese Falcon

world's most expensive charter yacht

Crew Size: 18 members

Size: 289 ft.

Builder: Perini Navi

The Maltese Falcon is a superyacht that turns heads wherever it sails. It’s one of the most exclusive yachts on the charter market, and when you get a glimpse at this floating masterpiece, it’s easy to see why.

This vessel has both the award-winning performance of a sailing yacht and the onboard space of a motor yacht—It’s the best of both worlds.

29. The Venus

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $ 138 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Crew Size: 22 members

Size: 260 ft.

Builder: Feadship Yachts

Venus is a well-known superyacht, due to its famous owner (it was custom-built for Apple founder Steve Jobs) and its remarkably unique exterior. With its metallic silver paint job and stainless steel details, the ship is a visual spectacle.

Because the build of this yacht was shrouded in secrecy, little is known about the interior or the layout.

30. Savarona

world's most expensive charter yacht

Price: $100 million (This price is an estimate, the exact price is not known)

Size: 408 ft.

Year: 1931

Savarona is one of the oldest luxury superyachts on the market and is available for charter. While it has been refurbished over the years, Savarona still retains some traditional charm that makes it a unique experience separate from any other superyacht.

Amenities include waterskiing, windsurfing, a movie theater, two spas, and two separate sauna and steam rooms.

An ultra-luxury cruise line wants to attract wealthy Americans with its all-inclusive 'yachts' — see what the new 128-guest ship will be like

  • Ultra-luxury cruise line  Emerald Cruises says its third ocean ship will debut in 2026.
  • The all-inclusive vessel, which Emerald calls a "yacht," would accommodate up to 128 people.
  • Emerald, known for river cruises, has been investing more in its ocean-based business.

Insider Today

Over the last few years, the mass-market cruise industry's larger-than-life mega-ships — outfitted with loud waterparks and more dining options than you could eat in a week — have dominated the spotlight.

But in the ultra-luxury cruise market, it's been the opposite. The smaller and more exclusive the vessel, the better. So much so that Emerald Cruises' next ocean-based ship, launching in 2026, plans to accommodate no more than 128 travelers.

It's a far cry from Royal Caribbean's new 7,600-guest cruise liner . And the price difference is just as steep: almost $250 per night on Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas versus more than $720 per night on the upcoming ultra-luxury Emerald Kaia.

"When people think of cruising now, they automatically think of these large ships ," Robert Castro, the vice president of marketing for Scenic Group, Emerald's parent company, told Business Insider. "There's a market for that, but we're in a unique position."

If you’re familiar with river cruises, Emerald might ring a bell.

world's most expensive charter yacht

The cruise line, owned by Scenic Group, only offered river cruises for its first nine years.

But lately, its biggest growth and investments have been in oceans, not rivers.

In 2022 and 2023, the Switzerland-based company launched its first two ocean cruise ships, which it calls "yachts." Each accommodates a maximum of 100 guests . And so far, they've been hits, with the cruise line experiencing record-high bookings in 2023.

Yes, the ships look like yachts. And yes, they're marketed as such.

world's most expensive charter yacht

But because Emerald's vessels operate group itineraries, they still technically count as cruise ships, albeit really nice ones.

So instead of paying hundreds of thousands of dollars a week to charter a yacht, as is traditional with these high-end vessels , travelers can spend less than $800 a day for a traditional cruise on said yacht-like ship.

While it's not nearly as exclusive, it sure is a hell of a lot cheaper, "bringing the charter yacht experience to reach for people who would never even imagine," Castro said.

Emerald’s upcoming 393-foot-long, 128-guest Kaia would be perfect for fans of small, high-end ships.

world's most expensive charter yacht

The 64-cabin Emerald Kaia would have a larger guest capacity than its two predecessors but would still be tiny compared to most cruise ships, including some of the most luxurious ones.

Regent Seven Seas' new Grandeur can accommodate 746 guests, while Ritz-Carlton says its next ship will sail up to 448 travelers.

Even Four Season's upcoming vessel — with fares up to $350,000 a week — would have a larger guest capacity of up to 222 people. However, it would be almost 290 feet longer than Emerald Kaia.

Like traditional cruise ships, Kaia would have amenities like a spa, two lounges, and three dining options.

world's most expensive charter yacht

The top deck would also have a cabana and bar-lined pool, one of three swimming holes on the ship.

But unlike its mass-market competitors, Kaia would have an open-air marina that would give travelers direct access to the water.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Water platforms are typically only common on yacht-marketed ships, such as Emerald's, Ritz-Carlton's, and, someday, Four Seasons'.

This means guests on the upcoming Kaia could dip in the Mediterranean, Adriatic, and Aegean seas — as is included in its 2026 and 2027 itineraries — without disembarking the ship.

world's most expensive charter yacht

According to the cruise line, Emerald Kaia's future itineraries include an 11-day sailing from Cyprus to Greece and a 20-day one from Seychelles to Kenya.

Its cheapest itinerary is currently an eight-day roundtrip Seychelles vacation in 2027, starting at $5,055 per person.

As an all-inclusive cruise line, amenities like alcohol, WiFi, and excursions would be included in the base fare. However, unlike all-inclusive competitor Regent Seven Seas , guests must pay for their flights to and from the ship.

To compare, itineraries of the same length on Regent's Seven Seas Grandeur and Ritz-Carlton's Ilma would be $36 cheaper and $120 more expensive, respectively, per day.

world's most expensive charter yacht

But the fares aren't stopping travelers from gravitating toward Emerald. Before it unveiled Kaia, its parent company announced a record number of bookings in January — up 67% compared to its previous record in January 2020.

Castro said about 20% to 35% of its guests are American, typically well-acquainted with luxury travel.

world's most expensive charter yacht

The company's goal has been to increase its number of American customers. So far, it's working and is now "on track to be Emerald's No. 1 market," Castro told BI.

The new vessel is being built at a great time for the cruise line.

world's most expensive charter yacht

Strong demand, compounded by a small fleet of small ships, has led to fewer available cabins for its upcoming summer Mediterranean cruises.

Several of these sailings are now fully reserved. The cheapest remaining fares start at $4,570 per person for an eight-day November sailing from Athens, Greece, to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

It's great news for Emerald as it considers a future with more ocean "yachts." "The sooner we fill the ships, the sooner we start building new ones," Castro said.

As Far As You Can Sea: World’s Largest Superyachts

Multimillion-dollar mega yachts.

by Emma Treagus Published on February 2, 2024

At Luxe Digital, we independently research, review, and recommend products we love and that we think you will love, too. Learn more about how we curate the best products for you .

With onboard swimming pools, cinemas, helicopter landing pads, and spas, the world’s largest superyachts have more facilities than your ‘average’ five-star hotel.

Owned by some of the world’s wealthiest people—along with a few anonymous owners who’d prefer to keep their luxury transport a secret—these mega yachts redefine the word “boat” into something indescribably sleek, stylish, and seriously impressive.

If superyachts are your thing, you’ll want to read on for all the facts and figures on all of the largest yachts in the world.

The 26 largest yachts in the world

Multimillion-dollar mega yachts: our ranking methodology.

A superyacht or mega yacht is typically a motor yacht or sailing yacht with a length of 30 meters (100 feet) or more. For this ranking, we looked at the superyachts and luxury expedition mega yachts that are used privately or made available for charter. We excluded so-called ‘residential superyachts’ (think Njord and The World), which are essentially luxury apartment buildings at sea where people own private residences inside the superyacht rather than the whole yacht. By researching diverse, reliable sources like Wikipedia and the Superyacht Times, we compile a list of the largest yachts in the world.

Curious about other striking superlatives? Check our round-up of the most expensive cars in the world and the most expensive private jets in the world . They are both perfectly good alternatives to owning a yacht. And if you prefer to stay home, we’ve ranked the biggest homes and the most expensive houses in the world to give you some inspiration too.

26. Y721 (aka Koru) | 417 feet—127m

largest super yachts world y721 aka koru by oceanic - Luxe Digital

Ever wonder where Jeff Bezos spends his downtime? As of today, we’re predicting it to be on his $500 million superyacht. Y721—nicknamed Koru—is 127m long. And featuring three sky-high slender masts, Koru is said to be the largest sailing yacht in the world .

With dark exteriors and natural wooden decks, Koru is inspired by another one of Bezos’ yachts—the Black Pearl. The clean lines and classically curved bow speak to an understated elegance despite the yacht’s mammoth size. While a long line of portals indicates at least 9 guest cabins. In light of all the secrecy surrounding Koru, we doubt Bezos will ever charter her out, but we can still dream.

Adorned with cascading chandeliers and gold accents, Al Mirqab is renowned for its unrivaled interiors. Surrounded by suspended glass artworks, a grand staircase floats throughout the four floors. And inspired by authentic Arabian styles, the magnificent superyacht is reminiscent of a magic carpet ride through the seas .

Built for the former Prime Minister of Qatar, Peterswerft-Kusch spared no expense in delivering Al Mirqab to an impossibly high standard for luxury. The large swimming pool is a standout feature as it opens up into the sea, creating the ultimate playground for adults. Al Mirqab has a capacity for up to 60 guests and is manned by an equal number of crew. Although you have to be invited by the politician himself as Al Mirqab isn’t available for private charter.

24. Serene | 439 feet—134m

Adeptly named, the magnificent superyacht embodies the serenity of a life at sea. Serene was built in Italy for a Russian owner in 2011. She was leased to Bill Gates for the Summer in 2014 for $5 million per week.

Designed by Reymond Langton, the 134m mega yacht marries elegant sophistication with state-of-the-art technologies. The seven decks leave ample space for guests to soak in scintillating views. While the underwater viewing room—nicknamed the Nemo room—is a permanent gallery of resplendent sealife. The real-life snow room makes up to four inches of snow. And whilst this may seem odd when your billionaire boss asks for snow—you make it snow.

23. Crescent | 445 feet – 136 m

largest yachts crescent - Luxe Digital

Yet another Lurssen masterpiece, Crescent pays homage to classic naval designs with traditional architecture and elegant interiors. Formerly named Project Thunder, she was built in Germany and delivered to Igor Sechin in 2018. The Russian oligarch’s superyacht was seized by Spain after sanctions were placed on Russia in 2022.

Crescent features low bulwarks and full-height windows to maximize the view from the center of the boat. Her distinctive wing station provides unrivaled views for up to 18 guests. But don’t get your hopes up—Crescent is strictly for private use only and isn’t available for charter.

22. Savarona | 446 feet – 136m

largest yachts savarona - Luxe Digital

Savarona is the second-largest yacht built by Blohm & Voss and spends most of her time in the Mediterranean. This luxury superyacht is one of the oldest in the market — a perfect fusion of traditional charm and modern facilities.

Previously named Gunes Dil, Savarona was designed by Cox & Stevens, with interior design carefully handled by Donald Starkey. She’s available to charter on a weekly basis and has been refurbished over the years. Back in the day, her cost price was $4 million, and in 1989, she was chartered by Kahraman Sadikoglu, owner of the Turkish Sadikoglu Group, who spent an estimated $50 million on refurbishing her from top to bottom.

21. Flying Fox | 446 feet – 136m

largest yachts flying fox - Luxe Digital

Flying Fox is known as the most expensive charter yacht in the world , and a week aboard will set you back around $3 million. Chartered by the one and only power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z in 2021, it’s filled to the brim with all of the luxury facilities you could ever possibly want.

The Flying Fox is rumored to be owned by Jeff Bezos, although that’s a claim that’s never been totally certified. She spends most of her time in the Mediterranean, specifically Cannes, Capri, and Sardinia, although she’s recently visited Norway, too. She can accommodate the largest helicopters on the market, and it reportedly took more than 50 meetings with her owner for interior design to be completed.

20. Rising Sun | 454 feet – 138m

largest yachts rising sun - Luxe Digital

The Rising Sun’s original owner, Larry Ellison, CEO of Oracle Corporation, sold her in 2010 as he considered her too large. Famously used by David Geffen for self-isolation, Rising Sun has also been a popular hang-out spot for celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Beatrice, the Princess of York.

She’s a Superyacht with impressive attention to detail like interiors kitted out in teak and onyx and endless features like a full gym , a large wine cellar, a sauna, and a spa. She’s got a full-size basketball court that doubles up as a helicopter landing pad and a private cinema for those long evenings spent at sea.

19. Al Salamah | 457 feet – 139m

largest yachts al salamah - Luxe Digital

Al Salamah is part of the Omani Royal fleet and started her very secretive life in Genoa. Known as the world’s biggest superyacht right up until 2016, she’s a sleek masterpiece of a ship, with a distinctive cream color and beach club design.

Al Salamah does everything in multiples, from the five galleys onboard (the main galley, a bakery, a crew galley, an owner’s diet galley, and an Arab galley), three hospitals (one for the owner, one for guests, and one for the crew) and 2,000 sqm of floor space. She was put on sale briefly for $280 million USD, before being delisted and instead given as a gift to the Crown Prince of Bahrain.

18. Solaris | 458 feet – 139m

largest yachts solaris - Luxe Digital

Everything about Solaris was supposed to be kept a secret when she was being built—a secret that didn’t last long when her huge size was spotted undergoing sea trials in the North Sea. One of this Superyacht’s main attractions is her beach club on the top floor: the perfect spot for relaxation during those long days out at sea.

That beach club comes complemented with endless other stylish amenities, like a large helipad, sun deck, and a crane to launch tenders, toys, and subs. Interior design is largely unknown, but, if it’s anything as sleek and white as its exteriors, it’s sure to be impressive.

17. Scheherazade | 459 feet – 140m

largest yachts scheherazade - Luxe Digital

Two helicopter landing pads, two outdoor Jacuzzis, and two outdoor fire pits: Scheherazade doesn’t hold back with not only the essentials but also the luxuries. Previously named Lightning, “Scheherazade” is mostly associated with a female character in the Middle Eastern folk tales in the series One Thousand and One Nights.

Not much is known about this superyacht, and even her birth and building process were referred to under a codename: Project Lightning. No one involved in her creation, even Lurssen, has revealed anything about her interiors or her owner. All that’s really known is that she sailed from Germany to Norway initially after completion.

16. Ocean Victory | 460 feet – 140m

largest yachts ocean victory - Luxe Digital

Ocean Victory has traveled all over the world, from Europe to Southeast Asia and back again. Owned by Russian billionaire Viktor Rashnikov, she’s the upgraded vessel to follow his purchase of the 76-meter Ebony Shine.

She’s one designed with pure luxury in mind, from the six individual swimming pools onboard to the 300-square meter spa area. She’s beautiful both inside and out, with a unique concept designed by Espen Oeino and interior designer Alberto Pinto. The largest superyacht ever built in Italy, Ocean Victory shows some of the finest in the world when it comes to premium quality adventures at sea.

15. Yas | 463 feet – 141m

largest yachts yas - Luxe Digital

Yas is known best for its seamless and rather unusual design — one that’s a little different from most superyachts out there. The owner of Yas wanted a yacht that lived up to his own heritage; one with a backbone reminiscent of the navy and with abstract lines throughout.

He chose an existing boat in Abu Dhabi, which was deconstructed within the region before being shipped off and renovated into the wonder that it is today. The Yas yacht was originally a Dutch navy frigate, which you’d never guess from strolling around onboard today.

14. Nord | 465 feet – 142m

largest yachts nord - Luxe Digital

Nord’s distinctive bow design has never been seen before on a yacht. That’s one of the first things you’ll notice about her. The next thing you’ll notice is her unusual design, which verges on battle-esque and has been called “ a warship wearing a tuxedo ” by Dan Lenard of the Italian design studio Nuvolari-Lenard.

She’s one of the best superyachts out there for fun, with a sports and diving center on the lower deck, a swimming pool higher up, overlooking the ocean, and a fleet of tenders. She was designed for global exploration: a yacht that will calmly cruise her way all across the world.

13. Sailing Yacht A | 469 feet—142.8m

Challenging the status quo and pushing design boundaries, Sailing Yacht A is an enigma. The sail-assisted superyacht was built in Germany and delivered to Russian tycoon Andrey Melnichenko in 2017. However, she was seized by the Italian police force, Guardia di Finanza, in 2022 after sanctions were placed on Russian businessmen following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Distinguished by soaring rotating carbon fiber masts, Nobiskrug’s hybrid approach to superyachts makes Sailing Yacht A more eco-conscious than other luxury yachts of her size. The u nderwater viewing pod molded into the keel speaks to her unrivaled innovation. And many balconies are enclosed by some of the largest pieces of curved glass ever made.

12. El Mahrousa | 478 feet – 146m

largest yachts el mahrousa - Luxe Digital

El Mahrousa had a few different names in her time, ranging from the translated “The Protected” to El Horreya, which in Arabic translates to “Freedom.” It’s not surprising that she’s had more than one name when you take into account her age. As the oldest superyacht in the world, she’s undergone a lot of restoration over time, including multiple lengthenings and faster engines.

She was renamed back to El Mahrousa in 2000 and gained even more recognition for being the first ship to cross the new Suez Canal extension in 2015. Back in her original days, she was built on the River Thames and took her first trip in 1867.

11. OK | 479 feet—146m

largest yachts ok - Luxe Digital

Delivered in Japan in 1982, OK is one of the largest and most unique superyachts in the world. Sprawling over 479 feet, the water giant is engineered to submerge almost seventy percent. This is accredited to the work done by Karmarine Shipyard. While the majority of the vessel was built by Oshima Shipping, it was privately converted to a semi-submersible yacht in Turkey.

The superlative finishing on OK superyacht was designed by Timur Bozca, winner of the Younger Designer of the Year award in 2015. The blueprint being as many games as possible. The extraordinary vessel has the uncanny ability to hold over seventy toys, including a sailing yacht, a sea plane, tenders, buggies and even a tennis court.

10. Opera | 480 feet—146.4m

largest yachts opera - Luxe Digital

Like many of the most majestic water titans, Opera was delivered by Lurssen in Germany and built for Abu Dhabi royalty. This time, the owner is Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, son of the founder of the United Arab Emirates. And while it may not be quite as astronomical as Lurssen’s previous builds—Azzam, Blue and Dilbar—the streamlined vessel is equally impressive onboard.

The three-story superyacht proves large enough for a pair of helipads and two swimming pools, amongst many other toys, while simultaneously making room for up to 48 guests and 80 crew members. When it comes to the interior, details are sparse, but we do know that it was designed by Terence Disdale, a London firm renowned for creating bespoke luxury spaces.

9. Prince Abdulaziz | 482 feet – 147m

largest yachts prince abdulaziz - Luxe Digital

The Prince Abdulaziz’s yacht was ordered by King Fahd, who named her after his son Prince Abdul Aziz. Now, she’s owned by his brother, Abdullah. Just one of the yachts owned by the Saudi royal family, she’s spotted frequently throughout Europe, especially in Cannes, where the royal family owns a property.

She’s been redecorated once — in 2007 — in a project that took 15 months to complete, without even taking into account the rest of the ship’s upkeep. The Prince Abdulaziz is known for its combination of bold colors and fusion of traditional and modern design, thanks to its influence from the late David Hicks.

8. A+ | 483 feet – 147m

largest yachts a plus - Luxe Digital

What do you do when the name “A” is already taken for your superyacht? Choose the next closest thing: A+. Previously named Topaz, this superyacht was the world’s fourth-largest luxury yacht when she was built, before being stripped of that particular title only a few years later.

Nevertheless, she’s a seriously impressive superyacht, with endless facilities like a large jacuzzi, double helicopter landing pads, a swimming pool with a swimming platform and underwater lights, as well as a fitness hall, cinema, and a large conference room. She’s also well equipped with water toys, like jet skis, inflatable boats, a catamaran, and even a mini-submarine.

7. Al Said | 508 feet – 155m

largest yachts al said - Luxe Digital

Another Superyacht built, shrouded in secrecy, Al-Said was referred to as “Project Sunflower” the entire time she was being created, right up until she was delivered to her owner in 2008. Not much is known about Al Said, from her movements through to her amenities — although she is known to have a huge concert room with space for a full 50-person orchestra.

Currently, she’s flying the flag of Oman and has spent a lot of time in its surrounding waters. Her interior was styled by British designer design house RWD, with exterior design being credited to Espen Oeino. When she was delivered to the Sultan of Oman, she replaced a previous ship of a smaller size.

6. Dilbar | 511 feet – 156m

largest yachts dilbar - Luxe Digital

Dilbar, or Project Omar, as it was originally known as, is another superyacht designed with the help of exterior expert Espen Oeino, but with interiors strikingly designed by Andrew Winch. Dilbar is famously known as the world’s largest yacht by gross tonnage (interior volume) but as the fifth-longest superyacht in the world.

She’s home to a spa pool and beach club, as well as a large private cinema, spacious cabins set high on the main deck, a spacious dining room, and a salon with its own piano. She’s just as classy and beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside.

5. Blue | 527 feet—160.6m

largest super yachts world blue lurssen - Luxe Digital

Sunday blues simply cease to exist on one of the world’s most extravagant superyachts. The elegant behemoth was built for member of the ruling family of Abu Dhabi and billionaire, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2022. Valued at over $600 million, Blue is one of the most expensive superyachts in the world. And with a strong emphasis on the environment, this superyacht is also one of the most sustainable.

Blue strives to be as environmentally friendly as possible. She is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. And the wastewater treatment plant allows water to be disposed of in drinking water quality.

4. Dubai | 531 feet – 162m

largest yachts dubai - Luxe Digital

Dubai had multiple names in the planning stages—including Panhandle, Platinum, and Golden Star. Owned by the ruler of Dubai, it was aptly named after its home country and comes with all of the luxurious amenities you’d expect from such a name.

The Dubai comes complete with a huge swimming pool and two jacuzzis. Further down, you’ll find a large dining room with striking blue and burgundy decor and space for up to 90 guests. Dubai usually spends her time moored at Sheikh Mohammed’s private island in front of his summer palace in Dubai. She’s basically the definition of a floating palace.

3. Eclipse | 533 feet – 162.5m

largest yachts eclipse - Luxe Digital

It took around five years for Eclipse to be built from start to finish. While she was always designed to be a huge, luxurious Superyacht, the focus was more on decking it out appropriately rather than breaking any records. An award-winning superyacht, she’s incredibly spacious, with endless rooms to explore and a sleek, neutral color palette running through.

The Eclipse’s owner, Roman Abramovich, was more focused on facilities: he wanted more than one helicopter pad and a large swimming pool, too. Other than that, designer Terry Disdale had free reign for the rest of the superyacht. It’s just as much a clean piece of architectural styling as it is a stunning experience on deck.

2. Fulk Al Salamah | 538 feet – 164m

largest yachts fulk al salamah - Luxe Digital

Fulk Al Salamah translates to “Ship of Peace” and that’s something that sounds like a given when you’ve taken a look at this superyacht’s incredible layout. Developed under the codename Project Saffron, Fulk Al Salamah is more of a support vessel than she is a typical superyacht.

While she might still come complete with all of the necessities for a particularly relaxing voyage, she’s more so known for being a transport ship for the Royal Navy of Oman. She’s also used as a sort of friendship boat — pun intended — and is often sailed across the world with the intention of strengthening ties with the Sultanate. In some ports, influential people are welcomed onboard.

1. Azzam | 590 feet – 181m

largest yachts azzam - Luxe Digital

Most superyachts in the top 10 category have a few mere inches between sizes, but the Azzam shoots far ahead with a large amount of extra length. The largest superyacht in the world, she was never designed to win the title — rather just to be a sleek and elegant vessel. Azzam was crafted backward, with the plans for her interior confirmed long before her exterior was fully signed off.

Her length only came to be as such to incorporate everything required for the interiors, which added an extra 35 meters to her overall size. She’s also designed to look smaller than she actually is, with a blend of indoor and outdoor living. It took more than 4,000 people to build Azzam , clocking up six million man-hours over a period of four years.

The most expensive yacht in the world

The fact that the History Supreme, the world’s most expensive superyacht, comes coated in gold, is only part of the reason for its high cost. A superyacht with a real-life Midas touch, it was sold to an anonymous Malaysian businessman for $4.8 billion.

Robert Kuok, the richest Malaysian businessman, is the rumored owner of History Supreme, but no one has confirmed for sure. The History Supreme also comes with plenty of other impressive touches: a master bedroom decked out in platinum, a wall feature made from meteoric stone, and a genuine T-Rex dinosaur bone, to add to the list.

She took three years to build from scratch and comes with 10,000 kilograms of solid gold and platinum. Other seriously luxe features are her 68 kilograms 24-carat gold Aquavista Panoramic Wall Aquarium and a liquor bottle adorned with a rare 18.5-carat diamond . The base of the vessel comes wrapped in gold, too.
