Hyannis Yacht Club

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

We were guests of yacht club members and were looking forward to a special dinner based on the menu. Food was mediocre at best. Given the hype about dress code and the fact that the dining area could only be accessed through a code, the... evening was disappointing. More

You must go during sunset for the ceremony. Such an old fashioned tradition. The food and service are good. I wouldn't recommend the scallop dish. It was small and strange. Filet mignon was perfectly prepared and tender.

We enjoyed dining on a round table in the corner overlooking the water. Staff were bright and cheerful. The service was quick and the clam chowder was excellent. Bay scallops and pasta was very good too and we enjoyed various desserts which were delightful. I'm... in my late 50's and enjoyed the piano music - from Frank Sinatra to Elton John - certainly not overbearing. It is a private club, I believe, but we went with friends who made reservations. So it has that club atmosphere - but isn't that why you go to this restaurant. More

We were in town for our anniversary and asked if they, the HYC,) were accepting reservations as a reciprocal from another yacht club. To our delight they were accepting guest, with the virus our yacht club was not. They had a very good menu. We... started with the calamari which was very tender. I had the filet and my wife had the filet with lobster tail. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and the demi glaze was great. The desert was a hazelnut chocolate cake which was unbelievable. I must say the only thing better then the bay and beach view was the staff. I can not say enough about the staff and how they treated us. Thank You Hyannis Yacht Club!!! Doug More

We arrived early and enjoyed a cocktail in the dining room by the window on the harbor. It has to be the best restaurant view in the Town of Barnstable. The waitress was friendly and very efficient. Rolls were served, water glasses filled. We shared... a stuffie and then had fish entrees and another friend had steak and frites. The fish was fresh and well prepared. The steak was done just right. Coffees were served and a crème brûlée shared. It was a relaxed and very enjoyable meal. More

This has to be one of the best restaurants for seaside views. Our table was right by the window with great views of the boats coming in and out. The help is very friendly and attentive. The food is very good quality and quantity.

We are members for ten years and went this week with another couple who are also members. It was our first visit this season. We had reservations. The service was extremely slow. When asked about the ingredients in a particular dish I was told to read... the menu description. No one returned to our table for over 30 minutes after ordering. We finally had to ask the busboy for help. Two of our four dinners were lukewarm - had to be returned- and another meal’s serving size was so small it was ridiculous for the price.Three meals were bland. Meal with no dessert took almost 2 hours. We received an email from manager to all members after our experience explaining changes to be made- staff shortages, etc. Quite frankly, we were made to feel we were at fault. We made a reservation and were told that can’t handle walk-ins. Stop taking reservations at a certain point if you cannot handle the numbers.. The food is NOT inexpensive and we pay dues to eat at the restaurant. There were really no apologies from the staff on duty. No one explained to us at dinner that there were staff issues or that there would be delays. Worst service ever there We hope things turn around quickly there- for years has been top notch. New menu no where as good as old. More

On my daughter's 50th birthday we wanted it to be a special occasion. Her older sister joined the club so that her 2 sisters and I could take her there for her birthday. We made a reservation and arrived on time. Our table was ready... but our waitress we extremely over whelmed. It appears that she was serving 6 other tables plus our table. Needless to say the service was so poor. You cannot fault the waitress because she just had too many tables to service. It appears the restaurant was terribly under staffed as the waitress had to bring the main bartender clean wine glasses as well as carafes. I even saw the bartender walk across the dining room to stock more glasses. Our dinners were cold and one of us had a soiled fork and was never given a clean replacement. Needless to say the whole dinner was a terrible disappointment. More

We use to rate this restaurant as one of the top 4 restaurants on Cape Cod..Since re-opening in Jan they have gone down..Both food upstairs & down stairs has slipped substancially..The prices are that of an 4-5 star restaurant..The buffet downstairs is extremely expensive..Your staff... has trouble refilling guests water glasses..There are many sitdown restaurants on the Cape doing prime rib for substancially lower price..Pasta Buffet is a joke...Seriously $24.95..Olive Garden has better pasta.. We had a salad with Salmon upstairs..Try not to cut your lettuce 2-3 days in advance ends of the lettuce was wilted & browning..+We will try the restaurant one more time in the fall..If still the same will cancel our membership,, More

my husband I compared our experience to “Fawlty Towers”. Sort of experience where incompetence smacks up against incomprehensible. When my husband went looking for salad dressing, our waitress (rather older and cranky) came back to our table and said “you gotta problem?” We had to... stifle our laughs. Music was geriatric, so was staff. Two of us had fish so dry you could have used it as a door knocker. Really a hilarious experience, but at an undeserved price. Skip the dining room, sit outdoors and have a simple burger. More

Unqualified and obviously untrained service staff— wine List poor and it turned out after ordering Stags Leap, the only recognizable Cabernet on the wine list, it was out—— turned out there were only 2 bottles of red wine available from an unknown winery——swordfish overdone and... dried out—- More

HYC is marketing a high end experience, but does not deliver. If you don't know any better, it's excellent. But if you've enjoyed fine dining elsewhere, HYC is disappointing. Living on Cape, I opted for the lamb, and ordered it rare. Now, I understand that... a rare may come out medum rare, and I accept that. The cut came out past medium, and with these prices, that isn't acceptable. Sent it back--something I have never done in my life. Second effort came out barely seared. Basically a hunk of raw meat with grill marks. I almost offered to go back there and cook it myself, but at that point, I accepted that the chef was a novice and everyone else at my table had already finished their entrees. More

For the second consecutive year I had a wonderful experience here. Excellent fare, great service by our waitress, April, and awesome views. Great restaurant area. The dress code made it fun for a visiting reciprocal yacht club member. Would recommend 10/10.

We’ve eaten at the Hyannis Yacht club several times but never rated it. It’s amazing the food the ambience there wait staff all deserve to receive a 10 got of 10 rating.

New menu, new management ~ we love it! Simple and delicious! Great view, very Patriotic! What a great place!

ABOUT THE HPCA

The HPCA is a voluntary membership organization established to support and inform the Hyannis Port community.  It is an outgrowth of the Hyannisport Village Improvement Association which dates back to the 1890s.

The initial purpose stated was “to promote civic development and improvement of the community of Hyannisport and for that purpose to acquire, hold and deal in real estate and other property as incidental thereto and do all other things incidental to the foregoing.”

The Hyannisport Boat Pier Company and the West Beach Bathing Company were taken over by the Civic Association also in 1929, transferring their respective shares of stock.

We thank you for your interest and look forward to serving you in the future.

HyPort PO

Hyannis Port History

HP map

At that time the charter membership of the Association was 42 persons; today we have 350+/- members.

BECOME A MEMBER

The Hyannis Port Civic Association was organized by summer residents of Hyannis Port in 1929 with the goal of acquiring and maintaining the Hyannis Port pier and West Beach Club and providing security and other services to make life in our village more pleasant. Our mission has changed little since that time.

Members of the Civic Association must own property or meet residency requirements within the village of Hyannis Port.  Membership entitles you to the use of the pier, is a prerequisite for membership in the West Beach Club, and entitles you to vote at the annual meeting of the Civic Association held every year on or about August 1st. Hyannis Port Civic members pay a Homeowners Assessment for each house along with Membership Dues for individuals and families and Wharfage Fees for boats moored in the Hyannis Port harbor. The Civic Association operates a security service which works closely with the Barnstable Police force to patrol village streets and to deter criminal activity in Hyannis Port.

Although membership is voluntary, most of Hyannis Port’s property owners are members, as are many other residents who are not owners.

Because of the broad base of our community support, the Civic Association has done much to preserve the village’s friendly, close-knit atmosphere.

If you like old grouchy people this is the place for you, from the bartender to the clientele it is an older crowd and they have attitude. I live next door and have been a member for years... but I know why I go only twice a year for a cocktail. I can walk there... not even drive but the attitude is not worth the walk. They need to greet customer when they come in with a smile, rather than acting as if they are doing you a favor.

I think the previous reviewer is talking about the Hyannis Yacht Club. Associated with the Hyannis yacht Club is the Captain's Table restaurant/club. To the best of my knowledge the Hyannisport Yacht Club has no facilities except a dock, launch service and a small equipment building

As i sit here trying to drink away the taste of dissapointment of the horrendous experience i just encountered on my lovely 4th of july night i sit back and think of the ordeal of that poor excuse of a yacht. let me begin with the reservation i made. in FEBUARY our sweet old nana made reservervations at the club for 4th of july. she clearly stated she wanted deckside seating at 730! weeks later she called to confirm this and those motherfuckers lied to her face. this sweet innocent hard working retired public servent was lied too. upon arrival we were met by an angry hostess who smelled of low tide. she informed us that we had NO reservations even though Nana called in late june to confirm the reservation. we were forced to stand in the packed bar in the motherfucking corner between angry old people with no teeth and the town drunks. we were not seated for 45 minutes. our nana has bad knees and cannot stand for that long and our friend who accompanied us has a heart condition and shouldnt be forced to the rigures of standing in a bar. when we finally seated at table for 4 (we had a party of 6) they didnt even give us the correct menus. (3 of us were given light fared menus and we were forced to mix and match.) finally we were met by a rude middle age bitch of waitress who would be more at home in a stable with the her fellow donkeys. after shuffling through menus that flat out didnt make sense we were finally able to begin to order our meal. the problem was our bitch of a waitress completely forgot about us for 40 straight minutes. she finally returned to take orders. we have never been so rudely talked too while we were placing our orders. this women did not want to give us the time of day. when of asked if he tomatos were could be opted out of his pasta dish she rudely replied "the tomatos are going to kill you hon" this poor just trying to ask because he wanted to know what was in the dish. once the orders were placed we had to wait an hour just for the appetizzers to arrive. one of us ordered oysters on the half shell. the oysters were smalled and none of the usual sides were given with it. it 40 minutes to make motherfucking raw oysters. the rest of the apps were fine. 45 minutes went by after the apps were served before the dinner was sent in. this is where the real problems began. A Omaha steak was ordered. I don't know what person could call this a steak as it looked like a blacken piece of shit that was dark red in the middle. This was the worst meal that was ever served and the French fries were salty as hell and mushy on the inside. Once this piss poor dinner service was over we decided to give them one more chance by ordering desert. the major problem with the deserts were the two ice creams that were ordered were made before the rest of the desserts and were forced to sit as the rest of the deserts were being made. The ice creams were served half melted. Straws should haved been served with the ice creams instead of spoons. This was just an overall terrible meal and we would all rather drink bong water including Nana.

I have sailed my whole life at Hyannis Yacht Club and also Wianno for a year. I love being on the water more than anything else whether it is sailing, fishing, or driving a boat around. The most interesting thing I have ever done is sail from Eleuthera to the Northern Exumas and back on a 21 foot sailboat.
