Convertible Sportfish Yachts are typically 50ft or more with enclosed living area on the main deck and a flybridge with hard top or fully enclosed, in addition to accommodations below deck, and a large cockpit with a mezzanine deck with seating for guests to watch and enjoy the action. These yachts are often a custom build that combines the luxurious amenities of a motor yacht with the proven performance hull of a sportfisher, capable of converting to a cruising yacht, if desired. They will usually have a tower for spotting gamefish and utilize the latest technological advantages and fish-finding electronics, such as Furuno’s real-time 360-degree sonar systems, Seakeeper stabilizers, pod drives, powerful diesel engines and gensets, and much more. Currently a used 2005 Ocean Yachts 50ft Super Sport is listed at $395,000 in the Florida east coast market, which is about average in the current brokerage market. Current (Aug. 2021) range in the yachting industry’s MLS is $600,000 for a 2000 Viking 50 Convertible Sport Fisher in California to a 1991 Ocean Yachts 50ft Super Sport located in Italy at $199,420. Of course, a new production or custom-built fishing boat will be much more.

What is the largest fishing yacht?

According to The Robb Report and Yachts International, the new 171ft Royal Huisman Sportfish Superyacht will be the world’s largest true sportfish yacht when it is launched. Currently under construction, the yacht will be equipped for the global pursuit of trophy gamefish such as swordfish and marlin that roam the world’s oceans, and a range of sportfishing options. Sportfishing has attracted new owners for the larger boats in recent decades and yachts with tall towers and outriggers dominate the world’s fishing grounds in South and Central America, the Indian Ocean, the Pacific Rim and New Zealand.

Presented for sale by Capt Bob Bingham and Capt Dave Kellerman Jr with Bingham Yacht Sales & Restoration. Big Blue - Rybovich is hull number 67, and the last plank on frame boat built by Tommy Rybovich in 1967.  She is 45 feet in length and was originally commissioned as the Ole. Boasting unmistakeable lines, Big Blue's pedigree remains unparalleled. Her heritage alone, speaks volumes but her current turn-key go anywhere condition makes her even more special. The Rybovich family builds boats with the intent that they are meant to do much more than sit at the dock. Big Blue continues to live up to her those intentions.With that said, she is an absolute head turner whether she is tied to the dock or underway. She has been well cared for by knowledgable owners with an open check book one the years and it?s easy to see when you look at her. She underwent a no expense spared refit in 2014 that included a pair of QSB Cummins 550's, ZF gears, and all new running gear. Most recently, she underwent another cosmetic refit in 2022 which included new Awlgrip throughout, nonskid, new teak covering boards, and teak cockpit sole.As should be expected, she is easily managed thanks to her impeccable visibility and maneuverability.Whether the goal is to ply the cobalt blue waters of the Gulf Stream, or simply pull-up to a restaurant with the family, Big Blue is up to the task.While she is yacht quality, she was designed to be a fish boat first. While trolling, Big Blue pulls an extremely clean wake and her Vernatone muffled exhausts exit the transom above the waterline. Her glass over mahogany hull dampens unwanted sounds from penetrating from the vessel into the water. Her wheels have been tuned and her cutlass bearings replaced making her a stealthy weapon offshore. It?s not uncommon to see billfish just a few feet from her transom. At rest, she sits like a duck in the water - stable and sturdy.She radiates class and elegance while underway. Her 550 hp Cummins diesels emit a gentle rumble while she idles down the ICW and her common rail engines burn clean and completely smoke free all the while providing an extremely quiet cockpit. Those characteristics coupled with her open layout from the cockpit into the saloon provide an inviting environment for even the most discerning guests.She's the talk of the dock everywhere she goes. Not just because of her lineage, but because she's had the upgrades that most boat owner dreams of doing yet rarely have the time to complete. For Sale: 94-foot Rybovich Sportfisherman

Rybovich is an iconic Florida-based builder that has been building custom sport-fishing boats for more than 100 years. Its latest launch, a 94-foot sportfisherman called III Amigos, is a yacht it says “is designed to fish anywhere in the world in total luxury, thanks to a state-of-the-art power management system and redundant systems throughout.”

Launched in 2021, III Amigos is currently listed with Galati Yacht Sales for $19.995 million. The sport-fisherman’s four-stateroom, six-head layout can sleep eight guests while the crew quarters have accommodations for four.

“Throw out any preconceived notions you may have about sport-fishing yachts —even large ones,” Yachting previously wrote . “ III Amigos —a 94-footer from the consortium of boatbuilder Michael Rybovich, designer Patrick Knowles and an experienced owner—is far more mega-yacht than most fishing machines.”

Twin 2,600 hp MTU 16V2000 diesels push III Amigos to a 41-plus-knot top hop, making sure you leave your tournament competition in the wake at the shotgun start. The engines currently have 1,225 hours on them.

Speaking of competition, III Amigos is a tournament-ready sport-fisherman ready to pursue pelagics with a number of cockpit features including, but not limited to, bait freezers, a livewell, custom tackle stowage, a Bluewater Fighting Chair, in-deck fittings for an on-deck livewell, a sea chest in the lazarette with an air lock ability, three Eskimo ice chippers, under-gunwale stowage and a freezer under the mezzanine seating. It’s worth noting the mezzanine seating is air conditioned, making it a great spot to keep an eye on the trolling spread in comfort.

The vessel’s plush interior is thanks to a partnership with Patrick Knowles Designs, an award-winning designer based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and fabrication by Metrica of German. The salon has lounge seating aft and the galley and dining space forward. A U-shaped settee and coffee table are to starboard while two lounge chairs are to port. The galley’s countertop shares its space with a two-stool bar.

The galley is equipped with an array of meal-prep amenities, including:

• Full-size Size Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer
• Wolf range and oven
• Microwave drawer oven
• Exhaust Hood to Fully Extract Odors
• Stainless-Steel sink
• Pantry Stowage
• Additional Sub-Zero freezers

The enclosed-bridge’s aft lounge has a day head immediately to port and an L-shaped settee to starboard. Forward, the wheelhouse has a single helm seat on centerline.

After a successful day in the fighting chair, everyone onboard can look forward to relaxing in one of four staterooms belowdecks, each en suite. Amidships, the full-beam master stateroom has a king berth with under-berth stowage and a 65-inch flat-screen TV. The VIP stateroom is located to port with a queen berth. The forward port guest stateroom has upper and lower berths while the starboard stateroom has side-by-side berths.
