My first time in Oceanside and the yearly Christmas Boat Parade that takes place at the Harbor was a major attraction. This year it took place on Dec. 14th starting at 7 pm. They were very well organized, the parade started on time. When the boats started the parade they kept going, making the loop a few times so you won't miss any! There are many points where you can watch it, you can rent boats as well or have dinner or coffee at various restaurants or coffee shops at the harbor! People are serious about the parade here, they come and park early, so plan accordingly! It can get breezy so wear a few layers. They sell hot chocolate, but at $5 it seemed overpriced! Otherwise, the boats are beautifully decorated, they keep things going and it's a great Christmas activity. It can't get more festive than this!

The food here is ALWAYS good! The chef is consistent and we love bringing our family here for dinner!
My 9 yo son completed the junior novice two week learn to sail summer camp in July and loved loved love it! He was sailing a Terra RS solo and Naples Sabot singe handed around the buoys on day one and just got better and better and more enthusiastic each day. Learned trim, basic knots, rigging and points of sail and how to sail on and off the dock in short time and now feels confident and competent and keen to do the advanced courses offered . Will definitely rerun next summer and rent boats in between to stay tuned
My son joined the club for the junior sailing team and it has been so awesome for him! The people there are the kind of people you want your growing teen to hang out with and Learn stuff about life. The older guys want to pass on their knowledge about boats and the people keeping the place together are sweet and generous. It is a quiet oasis in a busy harbor. Every kid should take sailing lessons...life skills! BTW, they figured out how to make popcorn in the big machine that is actually healthy! And the chef makes the best yacht club food.
Our family really enjoyed our drinks and light snack at the Oceanside Yacht Club. We were guest so we had a pass to visit so we took 2 teenagers to watch the boats come in. It was really a great evening. Drinks were inexpensive and although we did not have dinner...which we heard on weekends they bring in a chef is quite good. We only stayed for drinks and light snacks but it was fun, casual and all the patrons and the bartender were very friendly. I like that it's low key and very comfortable. I hope we get invited next year we will definitely make a point of enjoying the weekend dinner.
A really laid back club and a very pleasant visit. We stayed at the guest dock on a Monday night. Arrangements were easy to make and dockmaster Rick made sure that we were secure and had everything we needed. Joe the bartender greeted us in the club and made us feel welcome. Overall, the claim "The friendliest yacht club on the west coast " we found to be absolutely true. Looking forward to visiting again some time
Chef John makes great food, very friendly crowd, great view from the deck. Chuck L. love the photo by the way. I don't know when you came to Oceanside Yacht Club but its a very friendly club. There is great warmth and charm and I am sure if you just walked up to one of the members and started chatting you would be welcomed.
I am tasked every year with the planning of the company Christmas Party. Last night we had ours at the Oceanside Yacht Club. We had about 65 ppl in attendance. The venue was decorated beautifully and not a detail was left to spare. Evelyn went above and beyond to decorate and prepare for our event. We had buffet style dining (which worked out well). John worked tirelessly in the kitchen and presented us with an AMAZING meal. Our menu included, Prime Rib, Garlic Chicken, Honey Habanero Salmon, Roasted Potatoes & Roasted Vegetables. For Dessert - John impressed us all with his incredible Bread Pudding with Whiskey Sauce. SIMPLY WOW! Overall our employees and their families had a very enjoyable evening thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire staff of the Oceanside Yacht Club. If you're looking for a location for a company gathering, small meeting, holiday party or private event - the OYC is the perfect place in North County San Diego. Couldn't ask for a better evening - atmosphere, staff, venue and food 5Stars all around! Thanks John and Evelyn for an incredible evening and for making my job of planning and executing this event a success!
Love Chef John's cooking and so much variety. Always surprises us with his nightly specials! The people here at the club are laid back and fun. The ambiance and the views are terrific. Not showy or put on, rustic and relaxing. The parties and events are always a blast. Trip to Catalina coming up and love how OYC members support the Elizabeth Hospice Foundation with their annual event. At $75 per month this club is a steal! We recently moved here from Seattle and joining OYC has been the best move ever.
Save your money move on, this is a very clique type of environment. We joined when we first purchased our boat. We knew no one in harbor. We were hoping this would be a nice way of meeting new people. Wrong ! We were not introduced to any one. Members were less than friendly when approached. One incident comes to mind. My wife & 25 year old daughter stopped in for a drink. Dayghter forgot I.D. Even after my wife vouched for her & said she was the girls mother the bartender declined service. So then they went back to boat to get license clear over on K dock. Close to a half mile away. Upon returning the bartender claimed the license was damaged & not valid. Is this a bartender in a private club or a cop. By the way my daughter is 60% disabled from service in Marines. Do not waste your money on joining this club! HighSchool mentality.Thats my experience an it's all true. Latest attempt to keep this place afloat is someone called me & said they're under new management. That may be true,but they'll never see another dime from me!!
