History of Bluewater Yachts
Bluewater Yachts was established in 1958, making it one of the most longstanding cruising yacht manufacturers in the United States. The company was founded by brothers Bill and Richard Valdes, who were both extraordinarily passionate about boating. Starting from humble beginnings in a run-down storage facility in Bellingham, Washington, the manufacturer rapidly grew a reputation for building luxurious, reliable and highly seaworthy vessels. Today, these first-class vessels are near-legends in the seafaring community, symbolic of the American dream and spirit.In 1989, the family-owned business was sold to Randy Cowley, an entrepreneurial boat aficionado. Under his stewardship, Bluewater Yachts experienced considerable growth and began locating its manufacturing operations in Fort Pierce, Florida. This marked a major transformation in the company's history, and the unique construction parameters and features of their boats began receiving international recognition. Moreover, the company expanded its range to craft larger vessels, winning them a broader market share in the motor yacht industry. Fast forward to the present day, Bluewater Yachts continues to be a leader in the boating industry and is headquartered in Mora, Minnesota.
