The overall experience was amazing. The crowd was chill, the bartenders were amazing but the Captain (the person checking us in) was too much. First, he was not inviting, second, he had a frown on his face, third, he was aggressive towards us. Many of us were over 50, cool, chill and laid back but I understand the sentiment, you never know what type of crowd you're going to get, I guess. The "media" portrays black people as violent, vicious and unassuming. In addition, I know that initial impression of black people is that we are all rowdy but some of us are actually reserved and chill. There are so many facets to us.. give us a chance!!..overall we had a wonderful time!

I am not completely sure how this place has not been shut down for health code violations, yet. It truly was unbelievably, dirty, rundown, and generally terrible quality.

I hate to write negative reviews, I want to give every experience at least 4 stars just for doing it but we had a bad experience this trip & I don't want others too. If I knew the things I wrote in this review before I went, I could have prepared and had a better experience. We were on the boat with the paddle wheel & lower air conditioned area with windows. We were here for a dinner cruise, I should have called and asked more questions, I was expecting something mid tier for a couple hundred dollars, a carving station buffet & real silverware/plates. It's more of a picnic style lunch than dinner. The bathrooms are single stalls with NO air conditioning it is not comfortable on high temp days to use the facilities & it smells terrible. DO NOT bring infants & toddlers, no changing facilities. The other quests bathroom habits are not the owners fault but if you could air condition the restrooms that might help & maybe provide a little more garbage removal during the cruise to keep things fresh that would be better. Next we had a cocktail, it was in plastic cups . The bartender had limited supplies to work with so we ended up getting a glass of wine. No appetizers, we purchased a bag of chips to snack on while dinner was arranged. The meal was catered, the food was fair, beef stroganoff type noodle dish or lasagna, bread, salad & dessert. Plastic tableware again w/salt & pepper packets, one napkin. In all the river views were nice, the staff tried the best they could with what they had but for the cost of tickets & for a dinner cruise, I really thought it would be better than it was. Unfortunately, the air conditioning to the rest of the boat broke or quit after dinner so that was kinda the straw that broke the evening for us. When we docked people we're very agitated and wanted to go so that made getting out of the parking lot a lot harder than it needed to be. All in all, I love riverboats, I would try the dinner cruise again but knowing these things be prepared to bring things with me that would make the experience more enjoyable. I hope the owners invest in the decor and updates on the boats, it really is a wonderful activity/option to have in Cincinnati, with the updates and a few more attention to details, it could be much more popular attraction for guests.

Woman flat out lied to us on the phone more than once that we didn't need to make reservations and there was plenty of room. Got to the entrance early only to be told they were now booked but we could wait around to see if someone didn't show. Extremely poor way to do business, I'll make sure to recommend this to no one.

We used the riverboat concert cruise to head to Riverbend to catch Jimmy Buffett. You cannot beat the price at $25 round trip for the easy, breezy boat cruise that is a little over an hour on the river and drops you off a short walking distance to the concert venue. Definitely better than waiting in traffic or attempting an Uber (as we heard people who did that after the fact and said it was awful). There are 2 bars on board to order drinks and chips for snacks. My only suggestions is it would be awesome if they had "beer bins" where people can just purchase beer with cash as that would lessen the long lines on the boat. Another suggestion is to not allow smoking...especially cigar smoking. Otherwise there is an indoor bottom area or 2 other decks to enjoy the cruise.

Went on a special event. Cruise was nice and we got to watch the Reds fireworks. The dinner buffet consisted of Chicken, super rare prime rib, carrots and bland potatoes. Dessert was low quality cheesecake. If I rated this cruise on the dinner it would get 1 star because I got food poisoning. I couldn't eat half the prime rib because it was raw and I like rare to medium rare. I shouldn't have eaten what I did (of the prime rib). The chicken was good. Crew was very nice and the appetizers were OK.

Sure, I'm anti-epaulet, but I'm no doubt pro-yacht; very pro-yacht! Most of my life I am a Kafka novel character running around where all the ceilings seem to low, like claustro low, ya know? So, when I'm in high ceiling rooms or open-air I feel greatly rewarded by the world -- like being on a yacht. Granted... the yacht made me face low ceilings on their lower level, but it just made being on the top deck and the stern that much better. They could've flown the Ohio flag, or the 'Nati flag... instead they flew the American flag off the stern deck making it far more epic than ever. Full-service wedding with wily, Hawaiian-shirt wearing bartender who had life advice. The wedding was much larger than I expected, and the yacht & staff came through with incredible accommodations all night. There was at least 100 of us. I have no idea what something like this costs... but it seems worth it... I mean... we spent 5 hours (7pm - Midnight) cruising the Ohio from pastoral settings to downtown 'Nati. Make sure you know where you're going & what you're getting into: it's south on River Road, way outside of town, past the playground, behind a big blue building. Once you get there... there's not much there besides a dock & a yacht, so if you arrive early... bring something (like that mini-bottle of champagne in your purse).

Are you visiting friends in Cincinnati? Ok, are you not really in Cincinnati, but actually in Kentucky? Ok, are you not really visiting friends, but are kind of visiting friends under the guise of going to a Cubs/Reds baseball game? Did you want to get to the baseball game, but heard that parking in Ohio was horrible, so you left your car somewhere in Covington, and needed to get to the game? Then this is the thing for you!!! For a measly $5, you can get on a boat, and ride across the river. They pick up at Hooters and drop you off blocks away from the field. You needed the exercise anyway. There are drinks on the boat. They are less expensive than at the bar or hooters, and definitely MUCH cheaper than at the ball park. If the game sucks, just get on the ferry and ride back and forth drinking things in paper cups for way less than at the ballpark. Sadly, no hotdogs :( It's about as convenient as can be.

Photo of Renny W.

We went on a cruise for the WEBN Fireworks on Labor Day. Tickets were NOT cheap and for my family to go, we shelled out close to $600 for 6 of us. That kind of money should get you something a bit more than the experience we had. The food was worse than the worst wedding food I've ever had. Dry meat, canned green beans, iceberg lettuce salad and somehow, someone found a way to make cheesecake unappealing. The beer selection was embarrassing. The wine selection, just Barefoot wines. And $2.50 per bottle of water. On a $100 per person cruise we have to pay for water!?! The staff was rude. But I would have been rude too had I had to deal with the other passengers like they do. Glutinous, pushy, rude passengers who chain smoked on the top deck during the fireworks. Needless to say, we won't be returning next year.

Amazing service... Fantastic crew... My sisters wedding was perfect, and our friends and family loved every minute! The sunset on the Ohio with the backdrop of the Cincinnati skyline was simply stunning. Totally reccomend this for celebrating any major occasion!

Theatres in Moscow

Cultural life of Moscow city is various and rich! Operas, ballets, symphonic concerts... Russian composers have created some of the most beautiful classical music. Russian classical music is very popular in Moscow. It is performed in many beautiful historical venues. Do not forget to include a visit to a concert hall in your itinerary when you are planning your stay in Moscow! And do it in advance.

There are almost no restrictions on dress code in Russian theatres. Visitors may wear jeans and sports shoes, they may have a backpack with them. Only shorts are not allowed.

A typical feature of Russian theatre – visitors are bringing a lot of flowers which they present to their favorite performers after the show.

Here are some practical advices where to go and how to buy tickets.

The Bolshoi Theatre

The Bolshoi Theatre is the oldest, the most famous and popular opera and ballet theatre in Russia. The word “Bolshoi” means “big” in Russian. You can buy a ticket online in advance, 2-3 months before the date of performance on the official website . Prices for famous ballets are high: 6-8 thousand rubles for a seat in stalls. Tickets to operas are cheaper: you can get a good seat for 4-5 thousand rubles. Tickets are cheaper for daytime performances and performances on the New Stage. The New Stage is situated in the light-green building to the left of the Bolshoi's main building. The quality of operas and ballets shown on the New Stage is excellent too. However, you should pay attention that many seats of the Bolshoi’s Old and New Stages have limited visibility . If you want to see the Bolshoi’s Old Stage but all tickets are sold out, you can order a tour of the theatre. You can book such a tour on the official website.

If you want, following Russian tradition, to give flowers to the performers at the end of the show, in the Bolshoi flowers should be presented via special staff who collects these flowers in advance.

In August the Bolshoi is closed.

The Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre

This theatre is noteworthy. On one hand, it offers brilliant classical opera and ballet performances. On the other hand, it is an experimental venue for modern artists. You can check the program and buy tickets online here http://stanmus.com/ . If you are opera lover, get a ticket to see superstar Hibla Gerzmava . The theatre has a very beautiful historic building and a stage with a good view from every seat. Tickets are twice cheaper than in the Bolshoi.

The Novaya Opera

“Novaya” means “New” in Russian. This opera house was founded in 1991 by a famous conductor Eugene Kolobov. Its repertoire has several directions: Russian and Western classics, original shows and divertissements, and operas of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is very popular with Muscovites for excellent quality of performances, a comfortable hall, a beautiful Art Nouveau building and a historic park Hermitage, which is situated right next to it. You can buy tickets online here http://www.novayaopera.ru/en .

Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center

The Opera Center has become one of the best theatrical venues in Moscow. It was founded in 2002 by great diva Galina Vishnevskaya. Nowadays its artistic director is Olga Rostropovich, daughter of Galina Vishnevskaya and her husband Mstislav Rostropovich, great cellist and conductor. Not only best young opera singers perform here, but also world music stars do; chamber and symphonic concerts, theatrical productions and musical festivals take place here. You can see what is on the program here http://opera-centre.ru/theatre . Unfortunately “booking tickets online” is available in Russian only. If you need help, you can contact us at and we can book a ticket for you.

Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and The Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory

These are two major concert halls for symphonic music in Moscow. Both feature excellent acoustics, impressive interior, various repertoire and best performers. You can check the program here http://meloman.ru/calendar/ . You need just to switch to English. Booking tickets online is available only for owners of Russian, Ukrainian and Belorussian phone numbers. If you need help, you can contact us and we can book a ticket for you.

Moscow International Performing Arts Center (MIPAC)

This modern and elegant concert hall houses performances of national and foreign symphony orchestras, chamber ensembles, solo instrumentalists, opera singers, ballet dancers, theatre companies, jazz bands, variety and traditional ensembles. Actually, it has three concert halls placed on three different levels and having separate entrances. The President of MIPAC is People’s Artist of the USSR Vladimir Spivakov, conductor of “Virtuosy Moskvy” orchestra. You can see pictures of the concert halls here http://www.mmdm.ru/en/content/halls . The program is impressive in its variety but is not translated into English. You can contact us at and we can find a performance for you.
