More Mud. More Fun. More of YOUR Friends! The Redneck Yacht Club. The World's Most Exciting Off-Road Park! You Bring The Party, We'll Supply The Mud! Danny Kelly was been born and raised in Southwest Florida and feels proud to call the area home. Growing up the son of a potato farmer, he carried on the tradition for several years in Charlotte County until about 10 years ago when he decided to devote a majority of his time to his primary business, Kelly Brothers, Inc. Kelly Brothers, Inc is a marine contracting firm that has been in business in the area over 30 years and specializes in both governmental and commercial work. While the marine business is Mr. Kelly’s main line of work, his passion has always been his toys. In addition to boats, he has owned several buggies over the years, most recently the award winning custom built buggy featured below.

The Redneck Yacht Club – No Boats Allowed

The Redneck Yacht Club - No Boats Allowed

When my father was Sports Editor of the newspaper in Punta Gorda – it was fishing, hunting, and football …. then fishing, hunting, and football. Not anymore.

Charlotte County has the Redneck Yacht Club – one of the largest and wildest off-road parks in the world. It is a Mud Park with three lakes, one larger than most similar parks.

Danny Kelly grew up in the Southwest Florida area and started Kelly Brothers, a marine contracting firm. He found enough room in massive Charlotte Harbor for his boating interests, but the area lacked a place to race his multi-terrain vehicles.

So in 2007 he obtained a lot of land 17 miles out CR74 (44570 Bermont Road), 3 miles past Bermont (which was the real Boonies of Charlotte County). In a few years, he created a weekend monster of a destination.

Bring your ATV, your Jeep, and any Rugged Terrain Vehicle and Swamp Buggy, but don’t bring your boat! There is always events going on from races to music festivals to wild holiday celebrations.

The Redneck Yacht Club has 227,000+ Likes on Facebook. So many people show up, the park has put out a call for more vendor food trucks. If you are visiting Southwest Florida, here is a fun place to look up on the Internet.

15th Annual Fall Classic at Legendary Redneck Mud Park: Get Ready for Trucks Gone Wild!

Twitter

Introduction

redneck yacht club punta gorda

Welcome to the 15th Annual Fall Classic at the legendary Redneck Mud Park in Punta Gorda, Florida! This year, trucks, swamp buggies, and side by sides gathered at the mud hole for an epic weekend of mud-slinging, revving engines, and good old-fashioned fun. We had the pleasure of hanging out with the Florida mud family, the Trucks Gone Wild guys, and HD Broadcaster on Veterans Day, making this event a truly unforgettable experience.

Heading 1: The Redneck Mud Park: A Legend in the Making

The Fall Classic took place at the Redneck Mud Park, formerly known as the Redneck Yacht Club. This legendary venue has hosted some of the wildest and craziest events in the mud-bogging world. We celebrated its history and its role in shaping the mud-bogging culture over the past 15 years. The park’s unique atmosphere and the camaraderie among mud enthusiasts make it the ultimate destination for those seeking an adrenaline rush.

Heading 2: Revving Engines and Sending It

At the 15th Annual Fall Classic, we had a great time sending it and having fun at the mud hole. From the roaring engines to the thrill of conquering the deep mud, participants pushed their vehicles to the limits. One of the most exciting moments was witnessing a Porsche sending it through the muddy terrain, proving that mud-bogging is for everyone, regardless of the vehicle they drive. The energy at the park was electrifying, and there was never a dull moment.

Sub-heading 2.1: Mixing with the Mud Family

The Florida mud family is a tight-knit community that comes together for events like the Fall Classic. At this year’s gathering, we had the pleasure of hanging out with fellow mud enthusiasts, sharing stories, and exchanging tips and tricks. The sense of belonging and camaraderie were truly heartwarming, and it reminded us why events like these are so special.

Sub-heading 2.2: Trucks Gone Wild and HD Broadcaster

Trucks Gone Wild, known for their insane events and jaw-dropping truck modifications, were present at the Fall Classic. We had the chance to witness their mind-blowing stunts and talk to some of the people behind the scenes. Additionally, HD Broadcaster was there to capture all the action, ensuring that the rest of the world could experience the thrill and excitement of the event.

Heading 3: Getting Dirty and Having Fun

The Fall Classic offered more than just mud-slinging and revving engines. We enjoyed free showers to wash off the dirt and had a blast riding with HD Broadcaster, capturing unforgettable moments on camera. The event organizers ensured that there was something for everyone, from live music to food vendors and even a mechanical bull. It was a weekend filled with laughter, adventures, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Heading 4: Mud Traffic Jams and Stuck in the Mud

As you can imagine, with hundreds of vehicles navigating through the mud, there were bound to be some exciting and unexpected moments. At one point during the event, we found ourselves in the midst of a mud traffic jam, creating a chaotic but amusing scene. And just like any mud-bogging adventure, we encountered our fair share of getting stuck in the mud. But with the help of fellow mud enthusiasts and some expert maneuvering, we managed to get back on track and continue the fun.

The 15th Annual Fall Classic at the legendary Redneck Mud Park was a remarkable celebration of mud-bogging culture and the thrill of off-road adventures. From revving engines to sending it through the muddy terrain, the event offered exhilarating experiences for participants and spectators alike. We had an amazing time mingling with the mud family, witnessing Trucks Gone Wild stunts, and capturing it all with HD Broadcaster. Despite mud traffic jams and getting stuck, the sense of camaraderie and shared passion made it a weekend to remember. If you’re ready to get dirty and have the time of your life, make sure to mark your calendars for the next Fall Classic at Redneck Mud Park!

Welcome to the Redneck Yacht Club: Bring your own beers, babes and buggies

By Whitney Bryen

Pieces of a rebel flag are plastered across the bikini of a young girl thrusting a Budweiser can toward the sky as she slides across the muddy seat of an ATV.

"We love your place," she yells, pointing a megaphone toward the owner of an all terrain vehicle park in Punta Gorda.

The driver quickly turns the wheel spraying mud toward the group, a show of respect for the man who gave off-road fanatics a place to play.

Danny Kelly, owner of the Redneck Yacht Club, waves at the couple from his throne, perched 13 feet above the mud in his custom-built swamp buggy.

"I'm having as much fun watching these people enjoy themselves as I am doing it myself," Kelly said.

They say as boys get bigger so do their toys. Kelly's friends say he has always been a big kid at heart and the opening of the Redneck Yacht Club in January after years of planning proves their point.

Fourth of July weekend was the sixth event open to the public. Park staff wouldn't say how many people paid $30 per person for the day or $40 for the weekend to get into the park over the holiday, but reported more than 15,000 guests during Memorial Day weekend, so it seems the word is out about the muddy playground.

The 800-acre ATV park is said to be the biggest mud hole in the state and the only one of its kind, including amenities, such as riding trails, a race track and camp sites.

For years, Collier County has attempted to give off-road enthusiasts an ATV park of their own on land promised by the South Florida Water Management District in a 2003 agreement. The commissioners recently voted to sue the district for the promised 640 acres, meaning those plans could be wrapped up in litigation for years to come.

Until the squabble is resolved, ATVers in Collier will have to make the drive to Punta Gorda.

If they go, Kevin Hovancik and his girlfriend Dorine Martin, of Naples, suggest they trailer their off road vehicle for the long drive.

"The first time we went there, we drove our Suzuki Samurai all the way up (U.S.) 29," Hovancik said. "The little Sami's top speed is 45 mph so it took three hours. But it was so worth it."

The couple described the park as an "amusement park for trucks" where everyone is out to help everyone else.

The rules are simple: BYOB ? bring your own beer, babes and buggies.

There is no official invitation but the party is open to everyone. No reservations required.

After performing a vehicle search for guns, axes, knives, machetes and anything else that could be used to cause serious harm in a testosterone-infused brawl, employees in camouflage cut-offs ask for a signature on the facility's liability waiver, including a promise not to sue.

Security is tight at the entrance, but anything goes once you get through the gates of the Redneck Yacht Club.

The first left is the entrance to an overnight camping area with hundreds of tents, pop-up campers and recreational vehicles lined up in rows. Neighbors for the next 48 hours.

An American flag flies high on a flagpole of one camp site. Next door, a Ku Klux Klan flag is pinned to the antenna of an ATV.

The camp sites off the main dirt drive are the end of the road for standard vehicles. Only trucks, sport utility vehicles and off-roaders can survive the terrain near the mud holes and ATV trails.

A bath tub is nailed to the back of a home-made rig for use as a cooler filled with beer. The driver stops just shy of a mud hole, pops open a can and chugs it quickly. As he starts up the engine someone hands him another beer and they're off.

Drinking while driving is allowed at the Redneck Yacht Club as long as "you don't get too rowdy," according to park staff.

The layout of the riding trails, bridges and a buggy wash make the park unique, Kelly said. The layout was well planned and the various amenities were designed from Kelly's riding experience.

The main mud hole is situated along the edges of the first campground, a perfect viewing spot for campers, who sit in torn lawn chairs and cheer on those daring enough to venture through the muddy ponds.

The riding trails run through a wooded terrain, with bridges strategically placed to help the passage from one area to the next. It's the combination of the trails and mud holes that makes the Redneck Yacht Club one-of-a-kind.

On Fourth of July weekend, there was little separating the trails and the park's four official mud holes thanks to a deluge of rain the week before.

"We almost couldn't open," Kelly said of the swampy ground.

In preparation for an extra muddy weekend, the Redneck Yacht Club employed two men whose job was to "get people out of the mud."

The park contains four mud holes varying in size, depth and terrain. Pine Island Sound is the biggest, covering an area larger than a football field with soupy mud that ranges from one foot to about five feet deep. Five or six islands spread throughout the hole offer the off roaders refuge. Other, lesser holes are the Grouper Hole, Gator Slough and Hog Waller. They all offer a unique challenge for riders and those recovering vehicles.

Getting stuck in the mud is a game for most of these off-roaders. First, they trek through the mud looking for that one spot that will give them the challenge they crave. But the challenge has only begun when the tires disappear underneath a pool of mud.

Manuevering the vehicles out of the mud gives the drivers a sense of accomplishment. And bragging rights.

It's a whole other game trying to pull the stuck vehicles out of the mud, with bragging rights of its own.

A series of venders set up along the main drag. All the staples are there, including an Italian ice stand to a barbecue pit. Those looking to fit in with the crowd can get their fresh duds from the "Bucked Up" apparel booth.

There is something for everyone from the hungry and thirsty to "Anglers with Attitude"

Jayme Judge, of Venice, said she spends every long weekend with friends at one mud hole or another and the Redneck Yacht Club is their favorite. Judge loves mud holes so much she even got engaged in one.

"There is only one thing missing," Judge said, "a swimming hole."

Everyone's skin is the same mud-splattered brown with the exception of those exiting the buggy wash. The closest thing to a swimming spot is the home-made spray station intended to clean vehicles of all sizes and their passengers.

Wooden posts with shower heads attached form the primal wash station. The water constantly flows as buggies and ATVs take their turn driving slowly through.

Much like children playing in a front yard sprinkler, the spray station provides a temporary escape from the heat. Others pull up to the side of the drive-through for no other reason then to watch the young girls' clothes cling tightly to their bodies as they rinse off the muddy scars of the day.

A thin, blond in Daisy Dukes and cowboy boots attracts a crowd as she rubs the dirt off her tan legs, which are as dark as the mud splattered on them. Her string bikini top tightens as she shakes her hair dry in what resembled a shampoo commercial. The scene, only seconds long, seems to be moving in slow motion.

A buggy pulls out of the wash, water spilling over the sides of the makeshift pool attached to the back. A woman dances and the Mardi Gras beads that are wrapped around the rails of the buggy rattle as she twirls a red strand over head.

She shakes her head side to side, her long hair flinging water on the driver. Both are still splattered with mud despite the wash.

Most of the buggies are home-made rigs with personalized touches. No two are the same.

Many of the rigs are made of scrap metal welded together to form a frame that connects the balloon tires to the ragged seats.

Bumper stickers containing rebel flags with sayings like "We don't call them Yankees we call them targets," and "American by birth, Southern by intelligent choice," are the only detail that can be seen through the thick layers of mud.

A ride resembling a pickup truck, rolls into the mud hole and slides across the island in the middle without breaking. It's obvious the ride was made from the parts of at least four different trucks by its green hood, orange bed and blue and yellow doors. On the front windshield is a decal that says "Livin' the mud life" and out the passenger side window is an arm holding up a peace sign.

A camo coated ATV moves slower than some due to it's tank tread with a metal chain rolling across the small round supports. On the driver's seat a man lifts his shirt to show a bandage that covers the tattoo he got that morning from the tattoo and piercing vendor. An American flag waves off each steering handle and the antenna. Small mementoes to honor the holiday he celebrates covered in mud.

"Rednecks are innovative," said Bruce Ball, of North Fort Myers. "The proof is here. Just look at some of these rides."

Ball describes himself as rough around the edges and said he likes the Redneck Yacht Club because he can be his "true redneck self."

Kevin Kern, of south Fort Myers, said he experienced the mud hole up close and personal, when a friend flipped a jeep jumping berms at the park during Fourth of July weekend.

"When (the driver) jumped the last berm, we went way into the air," Kern said. "The nose of the jeep tipped forward landing on the front tires, then hit the windshield and rolled onto the roof."

Kern said he remembers seeing the water raise as he reached to unbuckle his harness. He managed to get loose, but was submerged in water to his chest and mud splashed over his head and shoulders.

Kern said within seconds of the crash park security and visitors swarmed the scene to help pull the upside down jeep, named Blown Crazy, out of the mud. There were no major injuries and Kern said if he had the chance to do it again he would.

Kern said it was all in good fun and thanked the Redneck Yacht Club for providing a place for people to enjoy riding and hanging out with their friends.

Rain boots to flip-flops to cowboy boots and bare feet stomped through the mud of the Redneck Yacht Club during Fourth of July weekend.

Off-roaders off all ages shared the riding trails and mud holes of the tough terrain.

A mixture of beer, mud and the outdoors provided a sanctuary for Florida's ATVers craving a place to honor the country they love. The country that gave them the right to call themselves rednecks.

The Redneck Yacht Club is closed for the remainder of the summer and will reopen with a Halloween bash on Friday, Oct. 30. Staff at the Redneck Yacht Club said during season they are planning to be open for at least one weekend a month.

YES! Due to the limited WiFi signal for scanning tickets on phones, you MUST bring your own printed out ticket to the gate for entry! If you ask us to scan your ticket from your phone and there is no WiFi signal, you will be required to purchase a ticket at the gate to enter. No Printed Ticket, No Entry. No Exceptions.

I BOUGHT TICKETS FOR MYSELF (AND OTHERS) AND WHEN I PRINTED THEM OUT THEY ONLY HAD MY NAME ON THEM, WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM? No.  Since switching ticketing agencies we’ve eliminated the need to match  each weekend pass purchased to an individual person. All you must do is  present each ticket at the gate, along with a valid form of ID.

I AM HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY TICKET PURCHASE ON LINE.  HOW CAN I GET SOME HELP? If  you need help with your ticket purchase, you can call directly to our  ticket company, Showclix, at 1-888-71TICKET between 10am and 6pm M-F.  You may also visit them on line at Support.Showclix.com/ They are great and will  help you with your purchase and ensure that you are charged correctly  for what you buy.

ARE ALL TICKET PURCHASES FINAL? YES

CAN I GET A CASH REFUND ON MY UNUSED TICKET?

NO.  We are sorry that you could not make it out to our event.

WHAT IS THE RACEDAY MEGAFAN EXPERIENCE?

Those  who purchase the RACEDAY MEGAFAN EXPERIENCE will get to watch the  Saturday mud truck races from the best seats in the house – the  trackside tent.  Catered food and drinks are included as well.   On many  occasions, there will be a Meet and Greet with participating race  drivers. In addition, Raceday Megafan Experience ticket holders will be  allowed backstage for the Friday Night entertainment later that night  and participate in a meet and greet with the band where applicable.

PLEASE  NOTE: Everyone, including Children 12 and Under, MUST Purchase and Have  This Raceday Megafan Experience Ticket in Order to Participate in the  Raceday Megafan Experience. The Raceday Megafan Experience Ticket is a  Separate ticket from the Weekend Pass ticket.

ARE PETS WELCOME AT YOUR PARK? Sorry, we love animals, but our insurance does NOT allow pets into our park during our events.  It could pose a  dangerous threat to the animals, so please leave them at home when you come.

ARE SERVICE ANIMALS WELCOME AT YOUR PARK? We  do welcome service animals to our park during events, in accordance  with all state and local laws.  This means that if you bring your  service animal, you MUST have:

  • Proof of all annual vaccines and shots
  • An approved service animal vest for your animal

All of these requirements will be checked at the front gate before allowing any service animal into the park

Please note that Emotional Support Animals are NOT considered Service Animals and are not allowed into our park at this time.  ESA documentation will NOT get your ESA animal into our events.

DO YOU HAVE AREAS TO CAMP ON SITE AT THE PARK? Yes!   We have over 350 acres available for you to camp on.  We offer wooded areas, open fields, a quieter  “family” section, and more. Just provide your own tent, trailer, or RV and choose your spot.  Sorry no-hookups.

DO YOU HAVE HOOKUPS FOR CAMPING? No, not at this time. All camping is primitive.  However, generators are welcome for use at the park.  We also have over 100 porta pottys and a vendor has hot  showers.

CAN YOU BUILD CAMPFIRES AT YOUR CAMPSITE? Yes.   We also generally have a vendor selling wood.  If you choose to bring  your own wood, please remember, pallets are not allowed, nor any wood  with nails, staples, etc.  Please note that we observe ALL local burning  bans when enacted.

WHAT BATHROOM AMENITIES ARE AVAILABLE? We  have well over 100 Porta Potties available throughout the park.  However, due to occasional vandalism and convenience issues, we have  made some changes to the location of them, no longer placing them in the  middle of the campground areas. You will generally find them around the  fence perimeter. Please note that we are no longer able to provide  private port-potty rentals for events due to a significant increase in  cost by the provider.

DO YOU EVER CLOSE THE FRONT GATES DURING REDNECK MUD PARK EVENTS? We  open the gates for most events for advance ticket holders at 10am on Thursday, then  close at midnight.  Gates then reopen at 8am Friday and remain open 24/7  until we close on Sunday night.  This schedule may be different for smaller, ATV only events.

ARE THERE VENDORS ON SITE FOR YOUR EVENTS? Yes,  we have food vendors as well as merchandise and other exciting  businesses.  Please note however that we do NOT sell alcoholic beverages  in our park.

DO YOU RENT ATVs? We do not, but there is a vendor that does.

ARE SPORT QUAD VEHICLES ALLOWED? Sorry, we do NOT allow sport quad vehicles into our events at this time.  Sport Quad is  defined as any 2 Wheel Drive, chain-driven vehicle.  Please bring a  4-wheel drive ATV or side x side vehicle.  Exception -  kids 12 and under may ride a Sport Quad - helmet required at all times.

ARE 2 WHEEL OR 3 WHEEL VEHICLES ALLOWED? No. Only vehicles with 4 or more wheels are allowed into our park at this time.

DO YOU HAVE MOBILE SHOWERS ON SITE AT EACH EVENT? We have a mobile hot shower vendor on site at each Redneck Mud Park event.  Prices and services vary but generally start around $12.  We also have free showers at the Buggy Wash Station during the daytime.

HOW MANY REDNECK MUD PARK EVENTS WILL YOU BE HAVING THIS SEASON? We currently have two events scheduled - our Mud Wheelers Gone Wild event January 20 - 22, 2023 and Trucks Gone Wild Spring Break event March 16-19, 2023.  In addition to Redneck Mud Park  events, there may be other events held at the property which will be  open for the general public. If  you are an ADULT, you do NOT need to print out and sign a paper  waiver.  ALL ADULT WAIVERS will be processed at the front gate at the  time of your visit.  PLEASE NOTE - you MUST present a valid picture I.D.  in order to sign a waiver and be let into our park.  THERE ARE NO  EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.

Please note that all minors will be  still required to have two parents sign a paper waiver and be  accompanied by one parent or guardian while in the park.  If the minor  will not have a parent with them the parents need to fill out the  Temporary Guardianship form giving someone over the age of 18 temporary  guardianship for the event, this form must be notarized. The forms for minors need to be filled out before your arrival at the park, this will expedite check in.

Again: The two ways for minors to enter the park:

  • Two Parent Waiver filled out completely with at least one parent physically present.
  • Two  Parent Waiver filled out completely and the Temporary Guardianship Form  filled out and notarized giving someone over the age of 18 that is  physically present temporary guardianship for the event.

I HAD TO LEAVE A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT/SOMETHING ELSE BEHIND ON YOUR PROPERTY – CAN I COME BACK TO GET IT? Yes,  you have 30 days to return and get your property.  If you have left  something on property and would like to schedule a time to pick it up,  please contact our office at [email protected] .  If after 30 days you have not picked up your items, you will have  surrendered your property to Redneck Mud Park and those items will  belong to us.

I’VE READ WHERE YOU ARE CLOSED/CLOSING OR FOR SALE, IS THIS TRUE? No,  this is not true.  As Mud Truck, ATV, 4X4, and  Off-Road enthusiasts’ favorite Florida destination and Mud Park, there  will always be a certain amount of negative chatter aimed at  misinforming our patrons.  Unless it comes from Official channels –  either on this page or our Official Facebook Page – it’s simply not to  be believed.  Our park and business are fully insured and permitted, not for sale,  and we are open as usual.

We  have a great staff of trained EMS professionals at every event,  prepared for any eventuality.  Ultimately, it’s up to everyone to stay  safe and be careful – to watch out not only for themselves, but for  others.  To this end, we have the best customers in the World and  together everyone on property is expected to pitch in to maintain safety  while having fun.
