2008 Lagoon 420 Owner's Version Diesel/Electric Hybrid Sailing Catamaran

The original factory model made an Atlantic crossing using only one gallon of diesel. Where else can you find a catamaran that sails and motors in comfort like this one.

This Lagoon 420 ( Owner's Version Diesel/Electric Hybrid Sailing Catamaran ) has the modern look with vertical cabin windows which makes this 2008 model fresh and new. The steering station is part of the very large outside cockpit area that has abundant seating including seating around the cockpit table. Easily maneuvered with quiet twin electric motors driving brass propellers. Only one diesel engine (generator) and three solar panels makes this catamaran easy to maintain as the Lithium Ion Batteries are long life (up to 10 years total) with approx. 8 years remaining on their charge capability.

"Glory Be" is a very capable sailing cat that has crossed the Atlantic on it’s own bottom and is ready to go again. Utilizing the generator and solar panels to charge the lithium Ion bank (not the original heavy wet cell batteries) every few hours, "Glory Be" can go almost 2,000 miles on one tank (80 usable gallons diesel) under power before needing to replenish diesel (for those times when the wind blows in the wrong direction). I’m talking about up to 24mpg under power.

1991 Lagoon 55 The Lagoon 55 is a large, well equipped, performance cruising catamaran. The Lagoon 55 is one of many cruising catamarans designed and built by Jeanneau (JTA, Jeanneau Technique Advances). The designers were Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prevost who used their knowledge of offshore racing and the latest racing sailboat design technologies to produce a cutting edge cruising catamaran, ahead of it's time. JTA built numerous catamarans designed by these two designers from 1987 thru 1996, including the Lagoon 37, 47, 55, 57 and 67. About 20 of the Lagoon 55's were built. All were composite (cored sandwich) construction, for lightness and strength. The majority were built using fiberglass & epoxy. A few were built using Kevlar and epoxy. This particular Lagoon 55 is constructed in fiberglass and epoxy. The Lagoon 55 is 55 ft LOA, has a waterline length of 50 ft and a beam of 30 ft. The displacement is 28,600 lbs, which for a 55 ft cat is light! It also has a relatively shallow draft of 4.0 ft. The Lagoon 55s were designed with four private cabins and heads and two spaces forward which can be crew quarters or gear storage cabins, (accessible via deck hatches).  The port side space on ONDINE has been converted to a workshop with an extensive tool and spares inventory. They are being sailed around the world from the clear blue waters of the Caribbean, Atlantic & Mediteranean to the South Pacific. They have proven to be strong, very fast, comfortable boats with plenty of room for ship's equipment, people and recreational gear. The present owner has performed extensive refitting to ONDINE in the last 3 years, including:  Both Yanmar diesels rebuilt New Transmissons both engines Leisurefurl system overhauled and updated Heavily built aluminum arch system carries solar panels, wind generator, dinghy davits stern anchor and drogue reels. The transom (sugar scoops) have been extended by 1.07m for more stream line sailing, with pull-down ladders on each side.
