This was by far the best catamaran we have been on! The staff is AMAZING. The crew is so helpful and funny. They make you feel like your part of their crew for sure. We loved spending time on the water and hearing all they had to say about the islands and animals. The captain was great! We will be doing this again!

We saw a sea turtle and a group of dolphins followed us for a while and did some "tricks". No whales on this trip but the crew made the experience fun by telling jokes and talking about the animals.

I can't say enough nice things about our trip on the Makani Catamaran! The staff were warm and friendly, the drinks we're tasty and the views were breathtaking. We had the opportunity to stand in the Captain's Galley and take photos. Captain Jon was so accommodating and thoughtful - he even offered to take our picture. This is one experience you do not want to miss out on! Highly recommend.

The boat was in great shape, staff was very professional and committed to safety. I appreciated that more than anything. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone visiting the Island, the views are well worth it. Great value trip!

So, full disclosure I was pretty skeptical that this would be fun at all. In fact, this was totally my wifes idea. That said, of all the things we did in Hawaii, this ended up being one of my favorites. We had been doing pushing ourselves pretty hard for several days up to this point and it was just really nice to sit back for a couple hours with drinks in hand and hang out as a family. We sat on the netting in the front and our 9,7, and 5 year old kids thought it was awesome to watch the water go by underneath and at one point even had some dolphins following us. 100% would suggest and will definitely do again.

I am so happy that I booked this during our trip to Hawaii. The crew was nice, hospitable, and very engaging. They made the sail super fun for everyone on board. Our captain was even able to show us sea turtles and a whale, even though we were not promised that when booking! Plus there was a full service bar and the drinks were awesome! I would definitely recommend to everyone. It is definitely worth it.

The Holokai is a beautiful, custom-designed, handcrafted 49 passenger beach catamaran. She was commissioned and splashed in 2015. Holokai is equipped with spacious seating, netted splash area, Bluetooth sound system and a clean and comfortable bathroom. Our professional, fun and accommodating captains and crew are on hand to provide 5-star service and the most memorable experience on the waters of Waikiki!

We have a bar on board with alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Beverage options include: juice, water, soda; Bud Light; Corona; a variety of premium craft beers from Maui Brewing Company; a pinot grigio wine; a champagne; assorted hard seltzers; and our house cocktail the famous “Holokai Hooch” consisting of: passion orange guava juice, peach schnapps, and dark Hawaiian rum- a favorite with all our guests!Please keep in mind that all liquor laws apply to our vessel and outside alcohol is prohibited from being brought onboard. Awesome experience.

We had a great time at the turtle canyon morning snorkel tour. The crew was super friendly and helpful and it was very safe, even you had never snorkeled before you could enjoy this. We saw half a dozen different turtles, surfacing and all. Awesome experience.

Excerpt from The New York Times article Hawaii Is a Paradise, but Whose?

“I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect that people just won’t work in the main industry there is and I don’t think Hawaiians want to stop tourism altogether, but we are all working to find ways of doing it responsibly and thoughtfully,” said Shane Hiroshi Gibler, who co-owns Royal Hawaiian Catamaran , which is based in Honolulu and offers snorkel tours, sunset cruises and private charters.

On Mr. Gibler’s boat, guests are asked not to bring any plastic and recycling is available aboard. Mr. Gibler educates guests about fishing, food and the importance of the ocean and the land to Hawaiians. The Royal Hawaiian Catamaran team regularly gathers people to clean up the shoreline and has been working with the Surfrider Foundation to remove ghost nets — fishing nets that have been lost or left behind by fishing boats — from reefs or the ocean. At Royal Hawaiian Catamaran, we strive to be stewards of the ocean. We have cut back on single-use plastics and refrain from using plastic bottles for the sake of our beautiful waters. We provide reusable cups, paper cups, and bamboo utensils and plates. As a sailing vessel, we are naturally eco-friendly and only practice safe swimming with our ocean animal friends. We teach each of our guests how to interact safely with turtles and mammals. Lastly, we only provide reef-safe sunscreen to keep our corals happy.

MAITAʻI CATAMARAN

The amazing Maitaʻi Catamaran is an ocean adventure, sight-seeing tour and party all in one. This “state of the art”, twin hulled, 45 foot catamaran seats 49 passengers comfortably. United States Coast Guard inspected and certified, the Maita’i is ultra-safe and a great time for the entire family.

Maitaʻi offers a variety of sailings for you to choose from. Enjoy the Island sun and scenery on one of our Tradewind sails. Watch the Oahu coast roll by as the wind fills the sails on a journey you’ll remember a lifetime.

Wow!! What an experience! Captain Jonathan and his crew are full of aloha! We took friends that were visiting Oahu for the first time, out for a Friday night cruise. We had THE MOST amazing New Years Day cruise! Capt. Jonathan and Cherine made last minute accommodations for my daughter and I. Chef Bob prepared an amazing veggie, fruits, and seafood spread for us! We saw ancient turtles, standup paddled the ocean miles in front of diamond head, and enjoyed every minute of private ocean time away from the crowds! We thought we were not going to spot any whales on this trip, but Capt. Jonathan went OUT of his way to play some whale-summoning music and sure enough...humpbacks appeared! Yes!! The Crew was Genuine, down to earth, knowledgeable, friendly, and fun! We highly recommend this experience. Without a doubt, the highlight of our 10 day Hawaiian vacation. Our only regret was that we didn't find Waikiki Catamaran Charter sooner!

We threw a little party for my friend for her birthday and captain Johnathan and Andreas made sure that everyone was having a good time. MAGICAL. It's the only word I can find to describe my experience on this Catamaran. I was in Oahu with some friends for my birthday earlier in October and we sailed to Maui with Captain Johnathan and his crew! We left shortly after midnight and I got to experience my first "moon set" in the middle of the ocean, under the stars. The catamaran was very clean and the beds were cozy! The next morning, a crew member named Phillip woke us up to witness the beautiful sunrise over the water and hopefully catch a glimpse of some whales! (We saw 2!!) I was very grateful for how thoughtful that was of him to wake us up! Next thing you know we are pulling up to the shores of Maui. Such a beautiful island!!! I can't wait to see Captain Johnathan, Phillip, and everyone else that made our experience truly cherish-able again!! MAHALO!

This was by far the HIGHLIGHT of our 11-day trip Oahu and Maui! Captain Jonathan was awesome, incredibly friendly and had great information about Waikiki and the area. This was a great experience. This sail is very calm and relaxing and a completely different experience from the trade wind sails, where you expect to get tossed around and get wet. This is the best deal in Waikiki. Was there for a week and went on this cruise three times. ~$30 for one hour sail with open bar. So, you can sit in a hotel bar and nurse one drink or be on the ocean enjoying amazing views, listen to lively music and chug down multiple drinks. No brainer. Shout out to Dustin for the amazing sailing experience.

This was a total blast! The guys running the boat were friendly and entertaining. The sites were phenomenal. The sea life is gorgeous. And the drinks were very good. I booked a second trip, can’t wait to sale again!

CANCELLATION POLICY

Guests will receive a full refund only with a minimum 24-hour notice of cancellation. Full refunds are also issued in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

During the slower seasons and typically the morning sails, tour cancellations can occur due to a minimum requirement of 6 booked guests. In these rare situations, guests are always given the option to rebook or refund. If you are concerned about your tour, please call with any questions.

Guests wishing to rebook or reschedule must give 24 hours notice. Contact us by phone directly to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows and guests canceling within 24 hours of departure will be charged full price .*Groups of 20 or larger are required to give 72-hour notice to cancel or modify bookings.

The Via Mia is a fully restored antique yacht located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The worldly 61-foot wooden yacht was constructed in 1929 in Stockton, California. Built for luxury, she traveled the world before crossing the ocean to Hawai‘i where she currently resides in beautiful Waikiki.

If her teak could speak, Vida Mia would not only tell stories about movie stars and politicians who enjoyed her lap of luxury basking in the sunsets off Waikiki, but of the countless grand times of families and friends who created lifetime memories aboard this gorgeous, iconic vessel.

The Vida Mia has been on the silver screen starring in movies dating all the way back to the 50's.

We are conveniently located near all the major hotels in Honolulu. We share the harbor with the nearby Prince Waikiki , Ilikai Hotel , and the Hilton Hawaiian Village . If you are staying at the Royal Hawaiian , Outrigger Waikiki, or Sheraton Waikiki we are a short 10-15 minute walk along the beach. Many of our hotel guests take a morning stroll over to the harbor or rent a Biki bike at one of their kiosks. There is a nice bike path along the beach; you can catch it right at the end of Lewers Street or take the scenic route and cut through the path at the Hale Koa Hotel .

For guests staying on other parts of the island, we offer transportation recommendations.

There is ample parking near the vessel. Parking in the Ala Wai Small Boat Harbor is convenient and affordable.

We recommend shared rides or taxi service for cruises that depart on Friday evenings.

He comes by this knowledge having spent three years (1976-'78) here with the Vandals as an assistant coach and defensive coordinator. "It was my first Division I job," McMackin said. "We were just starting out."

Between McMackin and assistant coach Chris Tormey, who graduated from and coached at UI, the UH coach staff is pretty well versed in area knowledge.

"I knew them both when they were here; good guys," said UI fan Wes Sodorff. "We used to go play golf."

"Being here this week is a little nostalgic," Tormey said. "I grew up in Spokane (Wash., 84 miles away) and drove these roads hundreds of times."

This week the focus is on beating Idaho, UH's 11:05 a.m. (Hawai'i time) opponent at the Kibbie Dome, a place Tormey once worked summers at.

"The Vandals will always have a place in my heart," said Tormey who as head coach took them to their last winning season (1999) and bowl (1998). After leading the Vandals to a 42-35 victory over Southern Mississippi in the Humanitarian Bowl, Tormey proclaimed it, "... the high point in Idaho football history, I think."

Today, 5-1 (2-0 WAC) Idaho can become bowl eligible with a win over UH. But Tormey said, "the focus is on our own fortunes. We're not trying to ruin anybody else's season; we're trying to win a football game. They're a very good football team playing with a lot of confidence now. It is not about derailing them, it is about jump starting us."

VANDAL CARAVAN

More than 24 hours in advance of today's kickoff the Vandal Caravan — UI fans in campers and elaborate mobile homes — started pulling in and setting up in the parking lots surrounding the Kibbie Dome.

"Our fans come from all over the state and the Pacific Northwest," beamed UI coach Robb Akey.

There were more than 40 of them settled in for the night by the time the Warriors finished practice yesterday, some from as far away as Seattle, Montana and Canada, they said.

Some, like Joel Johnson of Boise, Idaho, have been making the 220-mile commute through the lean years of nine consecutive losing seasons. "We've had so much fun it (the losing) didn't matter," Johnson said.

Others have recently joined in. "We've got a little life going again out there in the parking lot; in the stands," Akey said.

Johnson said, "it really gets going around here later. That's when it gets rowdy."

But with the Vandals winning now, Johnson said, "It is more stressful this year 'cause we're worried about winning now."
