She is a well designed, offshore cruiser. The current owner has maintained, her in excellent condition. The original engine has been replaced with a 62hp Yanmar 4 cylnder dsl, with about 1100 hours. The engine room is entered through a opening in the port passageway, and gives you excellent access to the engine, batteries,and water heater.There are 13 bronz opening ports, deck hatches in both staterooms, and main salon. Which give good ventalation, through out the boat. The cockpit arrangement is designed for comfort, and off shore safety. With the fully battened main, and relatively low profile for a center cockpit boat, she sails well in light air, and is a all weather boat in heavy weather sailing. The explorer 45 huntingford is a 45.25ft staysail ketch designed by stan huntingford and built in fiberglass by c&l marine corp.(taiwan) between 1977 and 1982., 22 units have been built..

The Explorer 45 huntingford is a heavy sailboat which is slightly under powered. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has an excellent righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a heavy bluewater cruising boat. The fuel capacity is good. There is a good water supply range.
