The 40.5m/132'10" catamaran yacht 'Zenith' was built by Sabre Catamarans in Australia at their Spearwood, WA shipyard. Her interior is styled by design house Waterline Yacht Design and she was delivered to her owner in June 2012. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of Incat Crowther.

Guest Accommodation

Zenith has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising one VIP cabin. She is also capable of carrying up to 6 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Range & Performance

Zenith is built with a aluminium hull and aluminium superstructure, with teak decks. Powered by twin diesel MTU (12V 4000 M90) 12-cylinder 2,732hp engines, she comfortably cruises at 23 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 29 knots with a range of up to 4,031 nautical miles from her 52,000 litre fuel tanks. Her low draft of 2m/6'7" makes her primed for accessing shallow areas and cruising close to the shorelines. Her water tanks store around 6,000 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

Hewlett Packard to pursue Mike Lynch's estate in £3bn damages claim

Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter were among seven people who died after his luxury superyacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily in August.

American tech giant Hewlett Packard has said it is to continue with legal proceedings "through to their conclusion" to seek up to £3bn in damages from late British billionaire Mike Lynch's estate in the UK.

The company had been seeking compensation over its acquisition of British tech firm Autonomy amid claims of fraud masterminded by its co-founder Mr Lynch to inflate the company's value.

The firm won a UK High Court civil claim against Mr Lynch in 2022, accusing him and his former finance director, Sushovan Hussain, of fraud over its $11bn (£8.37bn) takeover of his software company in 2011.

Mr Lynch, 59, who had denied any wrongdoings, and his 18-year-old daughter, Hannah, were among seven people who died after his luxury superyacht Bayesian sank off the coast of Sicily last month.

Fifteen others survived, including Mr Lynch's widow, Angela Bacares, who could now be liable for the damages claim in London.

In a statement, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) said: "In 2022, an English High Court judge ruled that HPE had substantially succeeded in its civil fraud claims against Dr Lynch and Mr Hussain.

"A damages hearing was held in February 2024 and the judge's decision regarding damages due to HPE will arrive in due course.

"It is HPE's intention to follow the proceedings through to their conclusion."

HPE is seeking damages of up to $4bn (£3bn), with the judge set to rule on the final sum soon.

The judge has already ruled the amount payable in damages would be "substantially less" than HPE had sought.

Mr Lynch was cleared in a separate criminal fraud trial over the Autonomy case in the US in June.

The boat trip had been organised as a celebration of Mr Lynch's acquittal in that case.

Emergency services have made contact but remain unable to rescue two sailors who spent the night stranded at sea after a mechanical issue caused their racing yacht to take on water.

There were two people on-board the 19-metre Spirit of Mateship off the coast when the it began taking on water on Monday afternoon.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (ASMA) received an emergency alert from the Spirit of Mateship at 12.40pm, with NSW Police confirming a distress beacon was received about 150km offshore from Nowra.

A rescue helicopter flew to the yacht on Monday night but it’s understood it was unable to take on the passengers, while the NSW Water Police vessel Nemesis arrived on scene at 3am on Tuesday.

The vessel was able to reach the yacht and make contact with the sailors about 240km southeast of Sydney, but extreme weather conditions has left the crew unable to rescue the sailors.

Essex Police rescue two people from stricken yacht after sudden storm

An Essex Police Marine Unit rescued two people earlier this month when their yacht got into difficulties off the coast of Clacton after a sudden storm whipped up.

Roy Harris and his partner Caroline Wilson were sailing back to the River Crouch from Kent on Sunday 25 August when the storm hit.

With his yacht, the Samphire, taking on water and its sail rope torn, Mr Harris radioed a PAN-PAN message to alert nearby boats and emergency services that their vessel had an urgent problem.

Sergeant Alex Southgate, PC John Perry and special constable Scott Mccabe were on Operation Wave-Breaker patrols in the force rib Sentinel when they picked up the distress call.

Working with the Dover Coastguard Operations Centre, they located the 40ft-yacht near an off-shore windfarm, four miles off Clacton.

Due to the weather conditions and the yacht’s damaged sail, the rescue journey took more than two hours in rough seas – it would usually take 45 minutes in normal conditions.

Crew members on Mike Lynch’s yacht have spoken of the moments when a storm sank the vessel off Sicily and their efforts to help save passengers, after a disaster that killed the British tech tycoon and six other people.

Matthew Griffiths, who was on watch duty on the night of the disaster two weeks ago, told investigators that the crew members did everything they could to save those on board the Bayesian, according to comments reported by Italian news agency Ansa on Saturday.

Griffiths, the boat’s captain James Cutfield, and ship engineer Tim Parker Eaton have been placed under investigation by the Italian authorities for potential manslaughter and shipwreck. Being investigated does not imply guilt and does not mean formal charges will follow.

“I woke up the captain when the wind was at 20 knots (23 mph/37 kph). He gave orders to wake everyone else,” Ansa quoted Griffiths as saying.

“The ship tilted and we were thrown into the water. Then we managed to get back up and tried to rescue those we could,” he added, describing the events of the early hours of Aug. 19, when the Bayesian had been anchored off the Sicilian port of Porticello.

“We were walking on the walls (of the boat). We saved who we could, Cutfield also saved the little girl and her mother,” he said, referring to passenger Charlotte Golunski and her one-year-old daughter. In all there were 15 survivors of the wreck.

Cutfield exercised his right to remain silent when questioned by prosecutors on Tuesday, his lawyers said, saying he was “worn out” and that they needed more time to build a defence case.

Before this, Cutfield gave a similar description to Griffiths’ to investigators, according to comments reported on Sunday by Italian daily Il Corriere della Sera.

Cutfield said the boat tilted by 45 degrees and stayed in that position for some time, then it suddenly fell completely to the right, the newspaper reported.

Parker Eaton had not previously commented on the investigation. On Sunday, Il Corriere quoted him as saying that all doors and hatches were closed when the storm hit the boat, except one giving access to the engine room.

That door was located on the side opposite to the tilting and so could not be a factor causing the sinking, he said.

Prosecutor Raffaele Cammarano said last week that the vessel was most likely hit by a “downburst", a very strong downward wind.

The sinking has puzzled naval marine experts, who said a vessel like the Bayesian, built by Italian high-end yacht manufacturer Perini, should have withstood the storm and, in any case, should not have sunk as quickly as it did.

Prosecutors in the town of Termini Imerese, near Palermo, have said their investigation will take time, with the wreck yet to be salvaged from the sea.
