Welcome To Los Angeles, California
First of all, there’s nowhere quite like Los Angeles because with its beautiful Pacific beaches, mountains, bike paths, yacht rentals, cruises, and nightlife with no end, Tinsel Town, has little shortage of pretty much anything. Even more, Beverly Hills with its sprawling mansions and the seriously high-end shopping spots along the world famous Rodeo Drive.
Natural Los Angeles Splendor
Also, Angelenos are busy riding waves, chartering their yacht, hiking, staying close to nature, or keeping in shape by climbing the Santa Monica Stairs . Most noteworthy, despite Los Angeles having such a large head count, Los Angeles is a city intertwined with Mother Nature. As a result her dense, elaborate neighborhoods rest along golden beaches, her city streets lead up to flower-carpeted hillsides, and huge, deep-blue skies are an Instagram filter for sunsets during your yacht charter or yacht rental made especially for you.
A Place for Foodies
Because there is nothing better than the food scene! Los Angeles has AMAZING restaurants and while it may have less Michelin stars than San Francisco, Los Angeles certainly makes an argument for more of its own winners with cuisines to die for. Try Michaels in Santa Monica or Mercedes Bar & Grille in Marina del Rey or Venice Beach and you will not be disappointed. Made famous from I Love You Man try California’s best tacos at James Beach in Venice. Los Angeles has the country’s most authentic Korean and one of the nation’s largest concentrations of vegan restaurants. Lastly, dirty martinis in a speak easy type setting, to brews crafted to perfection, Los Angeles offers otherworldly adventures worthy of the most discerning taste buds.
Creative Hub
Another thing is the creative hub. Dreams are quite serious in Los Angeles from actors and musicians to techies hoping to code their way into the next new thing online. Also, Los Angeles is a home to Hollywood, a city where imagination is almost mandatory. Therefore you will find yourself wrapped in layers of legend and history. As a result, annually countless dreamers land at LAX making their way to the streets of Los Angeles vying for their piece of the American Dream. Almost everyone is a writer, a producer just trying share their dreams with Los Angeles and someday, the world. Seems like the result is a whirlpool of creativity, edgy Venice art spaces, iconic rock venues, and critically acclaimed concert, all fueling a city addicted to the love of art and fame.
Architectural Gems
Los Angeles’s obsession with creative expression extends to its architecture. After all, this is where movie palaces look like Chinese temples and ancient Egyptian tombs, where concerts halls twist and curve like steely cartoon characters, and where soda bottling plants look like landlocked ocean liners. Indeed, Los Angeles celebrates architectural diversity with astounding gusto. From storybook Hollywood abodes and Silver Lake modernist prototypes, to downtown theaters channeling the Palace of Versailles, no other American city delivers such a thrilling mash-up of architectural styles, statements and role models…often on the very same palm-studded street.
However, there’s more to Los Angeles than famous names, with suburbs such as Malibu and Venice Beach boasting cultural gems as well as quirky shops and interesting boutiques. The former is also home to the picturesque Malibu Pier, which has a gorgeous organic restaurant at the end, and the magnificent Getty Villa, crammed with Grecian gems.

Yacht Rentals Los Angeles: How to Rent a Boat and Yacht in LA
The yacht has always been a symbol of wealth and success in modern America. However, you don’t need to be a member of the Hollywood elite to explore the best sailing the City of Angels has to offer. With affordable yacht rentals in Los Angeles from OnBoat, you’ll find that cruising the waters of the Pacific Ocean has never been easier.
Why Rent a Yacht in Los Angeles?
Most people don’t even consider yacht rentals in Los Angeles because when they think of LA, they think Hollywood, star-spotting, and vast urban sprawl. The truth is the largest city in Southern California has a lot to offer those who love being on the water. Opt for an unforgettable birthday celebration on a yacht or choose a bachelorette party aboard the vessel to create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Quick Facts
Check off your maritime bucket list with a los angeles yacht rental.
At first glance, the biggest city in Southern California might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of a party on a boat, but there’s a surprising amount to explore a mere stone’s throw from the city. With OnBoat, you can visit some of these incredible destinations:
Visit the famous seaside community on the edge of the La-La Land and join more than 5,000 other boat owners. This water creation destination is the most popular weekend destination for LA residents and visitors alike, whether you’re looking to relax or live it up at a party. Fun fact: it’s the biggest man-made, small-craft harbor on the continent!
Catalina Island
Visit the ocean-side Shangri-La just to the southwest with a boat rental in Los Angeles. Available for day trips or an overnight stay, sample one of the most magical delights of California’s maritime offerings. From the high peaks of Mt. Orizaba to the cabanas of the City of Avalon, whether you want to enjoy some incredible nature or party in the art deco-inspired Catalina Casino, you can do it here.
Head to the Balboa Peninsula at Newport Beach for its two piers, old-school amusement park, and ocean views. Known for its big waves and unmarred stretch of sand, grab your friends and rent a party boat in Los Angeles for a stop at Corona del Mar State Beach. If you’re looking for a little culture, why not head to the renowned Orange County Museum of Art? Whatever your tastes, there’s something to do for everyone at the infamous Newport Beach.
Palos Verdes Peninsula
Head south and cruise by the stunning Palos Verdes Peninsula. Sitting atop the iconic bluffs, you’ll spot the City of Palos Verdes. The rugged landscape of Southern California is a wonder to behold. Note that the peninsula is only for viewing from the water; renters can't dock at this destination, but the views are worth it. Quieter than many other common sailing destinations, it’s an excellent destination for those looking for a tranquil day on the water.
There’s a reason why the rich and famous choose to live in the nearby City of Malibu. Check out some of the most iconic residences in California while sailing along the 27-mile coastline. This pristine stretch of California is well worth taking a charter boat out for. Take note: powered boats cannot dock in Malibu without prior approval, but the scenery alone is well worth making Malibu a part of your route further afield. It’s also a great option if you don’t have the time for a longer charter trip.

Judge grants Scott Peterson status hearing after LA Innocence Project filings
Less than two months after the Los Angeles Innocence Project took up the case of convicted murderer Scott Peterson , a judge in San Mateo County, California, has scheduled a status hearing.
The court confirmed Peterson will be represented by the L.A. Innocence Project, and it is believed the status hearing will be in response to the group requesting new evidence from the original trial in an attempt to exonerate Peterson.
Peterson will appear remotely for the hearing, according to the court. His L.A. Innocence Project counsel will be in person before Judge Elizabeth Hill.
Laci Peterson, who was 27 years old and eight months pregnant, disappeared on Christmas Eve in 2002. Her body was found in San Francisco Bay in April 2003.
Scott Peterson, 51, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife and second-degree murder in the death of their unborn son. He was convicted in 2004 and sentenced to death in 2005. He was later sentenced to life in prison without parole.
In their filing, which ABC News reported on in January , attorneys with the L.A. Innocence Project claimed that Scott Peterson's state and federal constitutional rights were violated, including a "claim of actual innocence that is supported by newly discovered evidence," according to the court filings.
"New evidence now supports Mr. Peterson's longstanding claim of innocence and raises many questions into who abducted and killed Laci and Conner Peterson," the filings state.
His attorneys are seeking dozens of items they say they could not locate after reviewing the trial files from his prior counsel "after a thorough search," according to the filings. The items include evidence from the investigations into a December 2002 burglary of a home across the street from the Petersons' in Modesto in Stanislaus County, Laci Peterson's missing Croton watch, and a van fire in the Airport District on Dec. 25, 2002, according to the filings. They are also seeking documents from interviews with several witnesses.
Paula Mitchell, the director of the L.A. Innocence Project, previously said she found "deficiencies" while reviewing the discovery of Scott Peterson's case and sent a letter to Stanislaus County District Attorney Jeff Laugero on Nov. 14, 2023, "seeking informal production of numerous specific items of post-conviction discovery," according to a declaration included in the filings.
The letter "includes private identifying information concerning numerous citizens, potential material witnesses, and possible suspects -- as well as sensitive investigative leads relating to Mr. Peterson's claim of innocence-information that was referenced throughout various police reports, tip sheets, and other investigative materials from both the prosecution and the defense that I reviewed," she said in her declaration.
Mitchell also said during her investigation, she had come across "numerous witnesses" who have expressed hesitation or "outright unwillingness" to provide information due to the high-profile nature of the case.
Scott Peterson, who pleaded not guilty, has maintained his innocence and claimed he received an unfair trial based on possible jury misconduct. His lawyers have previously claimed that a woman, known as Juror 7, had not disclosed involvement in other legal proceedings.
In 2020, the California Supreme Court overturned Scott Peterson's death sentence, citing that his jury was improperly screened for bias against the death penalty, according to court documents.
He was resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in December 2021 and moved off death row in October 2022.
In December 2022, Superior Court Judge Anne-Christine Massullo denied Scott Peterson "relief" in his appeal based on stealth juror accusations.
Scott Peterson's attorney, Pat Harris, previously said in a statement to ABC News that they are "thrilled to have the incredibly skilled attorneys at the LA Innocence Project and their expertise becoming involved in the efforts to prove Scott's innocence."
The L.A. Innocence Project -- which provides pro bono legal services to people incarcerated in Central and Southern California who may have been wrongfully convicted -- said in a statement in January that it was representing Peterson and "investigating his claim of actual innocence."

The ladies leading the Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride
HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride was led by an all-female team for the first time this year. Melody Page is the Trail Boss and Lea Fistein is the Assistant Trail Boss.
"It's a big responsibility that's for sure," Fistein said. "I think we always have to double prove ourselves compared to the guys."
Their 60-mile from Plantersville started on February 18th. They arrived in Houston and appeared in the Rodeo parade on February 24th.
One goal for The Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride is to teach children the legacy of trail riding.
"This is how they made it across country," Page said.
The trail riders and horses also donned pink in honor of their trail boss. Page is breast cancer survivor.
"We just want everyone to be aware of it and tell the girls to get checked early," Page said.
This year, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awarded the Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride first place in its division.

Waymo approved by regulator to expand robotaxi service in Los Angeles, San Francisco Peninsula
- Alphabet's Waymo division won approval from the California Public Utilities Commission to expand service to parts of L.A. and the Bay Area.
- Robotaxi progress has been thwarted of late due to safety incidents and protestors.
In this article
Alphabet's Waymo robotaxi unit won approval from the California Public Utilities Commission to expand service to parts of Los Angeles and the Bay Area, according to a notice posted to the regulator's website on Friday.
"Waymo may begin fared driverless passenger service operations in the specified areas of Los Angeles and the San Francisco Peninsula, effective today," the release said.
In mid-February, Waymo initiated a voluntary recall filing notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, saying it would fix software issues. The recall followed two previously undisclosed incidents that occurred in Phoenix on Dec. 11, in which unmanned Waymo vehicles crashed into the same towed pickup truck within minutes of each other.
The collisions added to existing concerns about autonomous vehicle use in California. Competing taxi and transit service providers and labor activists are worried about the loss of drivers' jobs, while safety advocates wrote letters to regulators and politicians asking them to thwart Waymo's expansion in the state.
The CPUC in February had suspended Waymo's expansion efforts for up to 120 days to provide for added review time.
In its letter on Friday, the regulator said it was approving the new proposal, due in part to "Waymo's updated Passenger Safety Plan (PSP), submitted in connection with its expanded operational design domain (ODD) for deployment," which was also approved by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
"We're grateful to the CPUC for this vote of confidence in our operations, which paves the way for the deployment of our commercial Waymo One service in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Peninsula," a Waymo spokesperson said in a statement.
Waymo's progress in California comes after General Motors -owned Cruise and Apple bowed out of the autonomous vehicle business in California, while Elon Musk's Tesla has yet to develop an autonomous vehicle that can safely operate without a human driver at the controls.
California regulators halted operations of self-driving Cruise robotaxis in October after a series of incidents, including one that resulted in a robotaxi rolling over a pedestrian who had first been hit by a human-driven car and was then pulled forward about 20 feet by the Cruise vehicle.
Waymo's new approvals allow the company's robotaxis to operate close to Tesla's Palo Alto engineering headquarters in San Mateo County.
The latest notice applies to the commercial ride-sharing service Waymo One. The company has deployed testing vehicles in those areas for several years.

Looking for a ride to soccer practice? California teens can now use their own Uber accounts

Forget a bike or the city bus, California teens can now grab a solo Uber ride to their desired destination with a new product launched by the company statewide Thursday.
The company’s teen rides program allows children aged 13 to 17 to operate their own Uber accounts — hail their own transportation and order food — after parents add them to a family profile. Parents get a notification each time their teen orders a ride or a meal and adults can put limits on spending for each service through the app.
Uber has prohibited minors to ride without an adult for years, but many teens have attempted to create their own accounts anyway. Drivers are allowed to ask for an ID to verify age and are told to turn down the fare if the person is an unaccompanied minor requesting a ride through the traditional Uber app. Lyft, the company’s main rival, doesn’t allow minors to ride without an adult.
The goal of the teen program, Uber executives say, is to make parents’ and their kids’ lives easier. Teenagers’ schedules seem more packed than ever and the stress of ferrying teens to multiple activities during the day can be a challenge for working parents, said Sachin Kansal, the vice president of product management at Uber.
“Transportation for their teens ends up being one of the biggest stress points in their lives,” Kansal said. “I have a 14-year-old and every Saturday my wife and I have to sit down and plan out our transportation schedule — who will pick up, who will drop off. It’s a huge logistical challenge.”
Uber taps a new user base with ride and delivery option for teenagers
Uber Technologies is expanding its rider base with a new service that lets teenagers hail a trip and ride alone.
May 17, 2023
The San Francisco-based company began piloting teen accounts in 2022 in Canada and, months later, expanded testing in several U.S. cities. With the addition of California this week, Uber teen accounts are available in more than 250 cities across all 50 states, according to the company.
The teen rides will come with extra safety measures including live-trip tracking so parents can watch their teen’s ride on a map. Parents will receive the driver’s name, vehicle information, phone number and the requested drop-off location at the start of each trip, according to Uber.
Teens will be required to give the driver a PIN — generated each time they request a ride — and drivers will not be able to start the trip until they have the correct PIN. This ensures the teen is in the correct vehicle, Kansal said.
The company will use sensors and GPS data to detect if a ride veers from the normal course or ends too early. If that occurs, the app will message the teen, their parent and the driver to check in. The app also records audio of each trip using the teen’s phone. The audio file, which is encrypted, is stored on the app and accessible only if a user files an incident report with the company, according to Uber.
Sergio Avedian, who has been driving for Uber for eight years in Los Angeles, received a notification on his app Thursday morning that he’s eligible to accept ride requests from teens. But he’s not planning to participate, he said.
Avedian, who is a senior contributor at the gig workers’ resource the Rideshare Guy , said while it’s smart for Uber to lock in future customers while they’re still teens, he’s concerned about how the change will affect drivers. The app doesn’t have a curfew, so a teen could take a trip in the middle of the night without parental consent. This could be fixed, he said, by requiring that parents send a text or push a button on the app to approve rides and food delivery.
When Uber was testing the teen accounts, Kansal said the company heard from parents that they specifically didn’t want to have to approve their child’s rides or food orders, other than being able to control the amount they spend.
Avedian also has concerns about whether drivers will be penalized for picking up other teens, possibly without teen accounts, if the child who requested the ride decides to bring friends. Drivers will be required to make sure those guests have permission from a parent or guardian to ride in an Uber, he said.
“It creates a dilemma for me,” he said. “Every time a driver has to make a judgment call like that, parents will complain to Uber and I may get deactivated because of it. Uber has done good things as far as safety and security, but there’s also a bunch of holes in the product.”
Uber raises minimum age for most California drivers, saying insurance costs are too high
Uber has raised the minimum age requirement for most new drivers in California to 25, citing the rising costs of commercial auto insurance in the state.
Aug. 24, 2023
Uber said only highly rated and experienced drivers will be able to accept teen rides. All drivers on the platform are required to pass an annual background check that includes driving records and a criminal history. The company, along with other rideshare apps, has faced scrutiny over customer safety.
Uber does not use fingerprint-based background checks , which are generally considered the highest standard for employee screenings because they can identify applicants who use an alias or attempt to lie about their records. Those enhanced background checks are not required in California for rideshare companies. HopSkipDrive, a transportation service that parents use to book solo rides for their kids as young as 6, conducts a higher level background check on its drivers, including fingerprinting, according to its website.
Kansal said he feels safe allowing his own daughter to use the Uber teen service.
“In the back of my mind as we were building this project was the fact that... I’m going to be putting my own teen in the car and how would I feel as a parent about the safety,” Kansal said. “I feel very good about the product.”

LAFD rescues a horse in an unlucky situation
Firefighters arrived at the scene to help get Lucky of the sinkhole.
LAFD Captain Erik Scott told FOX Weather that over 50 firefighters were at the scene to help get the horse to safety.
"We had helicopters overhead in case we were going to perform a hoist, but it was deemed in the best interest of the horse to try and get her out on her own," Scott told the channel.
The department is not entirely sure how the sinkhole was formed. However, they told FOX 11 that heavy rainfall that happened in Los Angeles County earlier this week and an old septic system may be the reason why Lucky was engulfed in the sinkhole.
