Welcome to spinnaker sailing school and club.

Spinnaker Sailing in Redwood City began in 1980 with 1 boat, a small floating office, and a mission to share our love of sailing with as many people as possible. Over the years we have taught thousands of students to sail and in doing so established ourselves as leaders in sailing education.

As an American Sailing Association affiliate, our courses are designed to give students internationally recognized certification through the American Sailing Association. But more than just certification, when you complete your courses at Spinnaker you leave with a sense of accomplishment and the confidence to sail anywhere in the world.

Through the years the company has gone through numerous changes but one thing hasn’t changed – our love of Sailing and the commitment to share that passion and knowledge with as many people as we can.

The staff at Spinnaker Sailing consists of a group of dedicated professionals who have many years of sailing experience and many areas of expertise. They are knowledgeable sailors and great communicators, making learning to sail, safe and enjoyable.

Our Learn to Sail Guarantee is our way of assuring you that you will be able to sail confidently on your own when you successfully complete your courses.

The Club at Westpoint is for boaters and non-boaters alike. The club was formed at the beginning of 2018 to offer a place where people can come together, in sophisticated surroundings, and enjoy a haven where they can relax, dine, and meet friends.

Our purpose-built new clubhouse and restaurant is now open. It has unrivaled views of the marina and the SF Bay beyond. Westpoint Harbor is the 2018 North America Marina of the Year , a designated Clean Marine since 2013, and the first Harbor in the USA to be awarded the prestigious Gold Anchor .

We have a thriving schedule of activities at the club including:

• Cruise-Outs both locally and internationally
• Weekly social evenings most Fridays and Saturdays from 6:00 to 9:00 pm
• Monthly events featuring world-class entertainers and speakers and top-class food and beverages – see events

ABOUT THE MARINA

The Port of Redwood City's Municipal Marina is located at 451 Seaport Court, Redwood City, CA 94063.

The Port operates the 190-berth Redwood City Marina. This modern marina facility can accommodate vessels up to 50 feet in length and has 10 feet of water depth at low tide. The Marina provides electricity and water to all boats, and restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities for all Marina users. Read our rules and regulations for our marina below.

DRY BOAT STORAGE

The Port currently operates a dry boat storage facility next to the public boat launch where boats on trailers can be stored in a secure area and off of private driveways and public streets. The site is managed by Larry Mayne of the Sequoia Yacht Club.

It is located on the paved parking lot area adjacent to the public boat launch ramp. The area is lighted, fenced and gated and provides approximately 70 spaces for boat storage. Please contact Larry Mayne at (650) 888-2324 or  [email protected]  for further details.

Westpoint Harbor is located in the South San Francisco Bay, and enjoys a perfect Mediterranean climate. It is a private marina with the most advanced dock systems available, catering to active boaters with well-maintained vessels. The Harbor features close access to Redwood City and the San Francisco Peninsula, deep-water access to the Bay, and a protected marina basin free of strong currents and surges.

2011 Rates:The following fees are based on LOA (length over all including overhangs, swim steps, bow sprits and davits) or slip length, whichever is greater. Slip Size Standard Slip Fee 36 foot slips $7.50/ft 40 foot slips 8.00/ft 44 foot slips 8.50/ft 50 foot slips 9.00/ft 55 foot slips 9.50/ft 60 foot slips 10.00/ft 70 foot slips 13.00/ft 80 foot slips 15.00/ft End ties 12.00/ft Side-ties $7/ft to 40"; $8/ft to 50"; $9/ft to 60"; $10/ft over 60" Guest Fee: $1.00/ft daily rate; $5.00/ft weekly rate Storage lockers 10 ft @ 100.00/mo; 20 [email protected]/mo Boat/trailer dry storage 4.00/ft (includes use of launch ramp) Kayak/dinghy storage 10.00/month

Utilities: All slips except side-ties include a dock box, water, phone/DSL line, Wifi and parking. Electricity is metered and charged based on PG&E rates. Deposit: A security deposit equal to 1.5 times the monthly rent is required, and is refundable with 30 days advanced notice of departure, less any outstanding balances. Live-Aboard Fee: Live-aboard slip assignments are limited to 10% of all slips, and such assignment is required for any Vessel owner who regularly stays on board more than 4 days per week. Live-aboard fees are 50% of the regular slip fee. Extended-Stay Fee: Vessel owners who have a permanent land residence and wish to stay on their boat up to 3 days per week on a regular basis may apply for Extended-Stay status.

Sea Scout Ship Gryphon

Ship 33, redwood city, california.

Welcome Aboard!

The Gryphon Crew is a part of Sea Scouts, B.S.A, a program for young adults. Our program teaches nautical skills, teamwork, and leadership to youth between the ages of 13 and 21. Our main vessel is ship T-439, a 65 foot Army transport vessel from the Korean War. Aboard the ship, you learn all about how to maintain and operate the vessel with your fellow ship mates. We own many other vessels for training: these include sailboats, whale boats, canoes, kayaks, and even a new ski-boat!

What do we do?

Cruise to the California delta, Compete with other ships and crews from around the nation. We learn how to navigate the waters of the San Francisco Bay and participate in events such as Fleet Week with the Blue Angels, and the lighted yacht parade at Jack London Square for the holiday festivities. Some of our summertime activities include wake boarding and water skiing in California’s beautiful delta, sailing and kayaking in the bay, and compete in regattas with fellow Sea Scout Ships.

Mission Statement

The Gryphon is one of the nation’s foremost Sea Scout Ships. We will have fun while learning ship operation and maintenance; provide service to our community and others; develop new and useful skills through youth leadership, including new members; to continue the Gryphon legacy.
