Feadship relaunches MY Siran after refit

Perfecting perfection: Siran relaunched after refit at Feadship.

The 70-metre Feadship Siran has completed a nine-month refit at the Feadship yard in Makkum. Her owners have therefore ensured that their superyacht features the newest technologies and meets their current requirements while retaining the levels of quality only Feadship can deliver.

Perhaps it is because Feadships are among the very few pure custom superyachts built in the world that many clients keep them for such lengthy periods. The premium craftsmanship of the original build also makes it hard for owners to let go of their prized possession.

With the experienced Feadship refit division on hand to keep each Feadship completely up to speed with the latest technologies and changing desires of owners, it is no surprise that yachts like Siran have been in the same hands for 24 years.

The last of seven magnificent Feadships to be designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg, Siran was considered a revolutionary yacht in many ways at the time of her launch in 1991. Her radically styled windows and the innovative tender positioning were among many notable features. The owners returned to Feadship in 2005 to embark on a significant rebuild that saw the yacht extended to 70 metres in length. The sun deck was also given a new superstructure in order to accommodate a gym and an entertainment room.

This latest refit has seen further adaptations to Siran’s sun deck superstructure. More of the aft deck has been covered to provide better protection on windy days at sea. The composite sun deck roofing structure has been extended by around 2.5 metres, supported by aluminium side walls with pivoting glass windbreak panels in the same style as the existing sun deck side windows.

The owner also made use of the period in the giant covered dock at the Feadship Makkum yard to have some paintwork done on the hull, upgrade to new highly-skewed low noise propellers and rearrange two crew cabins in a way which better accommodates the junior crew onboard Siran.

Built by Nobiskrug, her cool, bright interior is devoid of clutter, creating clean lines and a calm, relaxing ambience throughout. The impressive main salon is a popular chill out area and a large, stylish space for entertaining, with a long dining table for formal dinners. Continuing the indoor/outdoor theme, a circular bar connects the salon with the aft deck which is large enough that all guests can be in the same place without feeling crowded, whether relaxing on the sofas, or the loungers on the raised circular sunbathing platform.

Head to the bridge deck's luxurious indoor movie theatre with its three double daybeds, large screen and blacked out walls for the full cinema experience. Guests love catching up on major sporting events, or watching a movie in the cinema, at any time of day. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast in the sheltered bridge deck dining area, then take a coffee and a newspaper (printed on board) to the aft seating area and make the most of the morning sun.

The sun deck is the hub of this luxury charter yacht during the day. The forward section is a sunbathing haven with a refreshing jacuzzi, and sun pads at every angle. On the shaded aft deck, take a morning yoga class or an early evening massage then, when it gets dark, kick back on the sofas as the area is transformed into an atmospheric outdoor cinema.

SIREN's accommodation is fresh and tranquil, with six cabins for 12 guests. The master suite is airy and spacious with full length windows, an office and a fold-down balcony. Extensive storage space is provided in the walk-in wardrobe, which leads into large his and hers bathrooms with Lalique fittings. A fold-down double bed can be assembled in the office area and sectioned off to create additional family accommodation.

Four en suite cabins are located on the lower deck, including a VIP with a sofa area and desk, two double cabins and a twin. A further double cabin is positioned on the bridge deck, with an elevator connecting all three interior levels.

Work out in the cool, shaded beach club gym with its fresh air and water level view. Then cool off in the sea-pool, leap off the swim platform or ask the crew to launch the extensive selection of action-packed watertoys.

This Germanischer Lloyd-classed yacht features a superb contemporary interior with five guest cabins and a main deck master suite that incorporates a foldaway double bed with wide sea views over a fold-down terrace. Her owners, enthusiasts for open-air living, worked closely with Newcruise Yacht Projects + Design, also responsible for Triple Seven, to create interior spaces that flow seamlessly into the open deck areas.

Built with a steel hull and steel / grp superstructure, she offers greater on-board space and is more stable when at anchor thanks to her full-displacement hull. Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 14 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 17 knots with a range of up to 7,300 nautical miles from her 182,000 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed. An advanced stabilisation system on board reduces the side-to-side roll of the yacht and promises guests exceptional comfort levels at anchor or when underway.

When not cruising Siren has onboard an incredible selection of water toys and accessories for you and your guests to connect with the waters around you. Principle among these is a Laser Pico sailboat to bring out the explorer in you. Take to the sea on the Jet Skis offering you power and control on the water. Water sports enthusiasts will admire the ultra-large bathing platform next to the ‘beach club’ bar and lounge in the stern. Another novelty is that the raised semicircular sunbathing area aft on the main deck unfolds to become a circular helipad.

A General Description of Motor Yacht SIRAN

Feadship finished building motor yacht SIRAN in 1992. Accordingly, she can be categorised as having been built in the Netherlands. SIRAN had yacht design work developed by De Voogt Naval Architects and De Voogt Naval Architects. Finished and launched in the year of 1992 her interior decoration promulgates the stately ambience in the designing of Bannenberg Designs Ltd.

Motor yacht SIRAN is reportedly owned by an intensely private Lebanese businessman with Armenian roots.

Building & Yacht Design relating to Luxury Yacht SIRAN

De Voogt Naval Architects was the naval architecture company involved in the formal superyacht plans for SIRAN. Also the company De Voogt Naval Architects skillfully collaborated on this venture. Interior designer Bannenberg Designs Ltd was responsible for the overall internal styling. the Netherlands is the country that The Feadship De Vries Shipyard built their new build motor yacht in. After official launch in 1992 in Aalsmeer she was thereafter handed over to the proud new owner having completed sea trials. Her main hull was built out of steel. The motor yacht superstructure is fabricated largely with aluminium. With a width of 10.21 metres or 33.5 feet SIRAN has spacious interior. A fairly deep draught of 3.2m (10.5ft) limits the list of worldwide harbours she can enter into, taking into account their particular depth at low tide. She had refit maintenance and modification carried out by 2006.

Engineering And The Speed/Range That M/Y SIRAN :

The 3516 DITA engine installed in the motor yacht is produced by CATERPILLAR. Coupled to the SIRAN engines are twin screw propellers. The main engine of the yacht generates 1600 horse power (or 1177 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The combined power for the yacht is therefore 3200 HP / 2355 KW.

In Sept 2009 SIRAN visited Villafranca Tirrena, in Italy. This motor yacht has navigated the cruising ground within Provincia di Messina during October 2009. Heinen & Hopman is the model of air conditioning fitted onboard. Her deck material is predominantly a teak deck.

So why is Siran covered in a vail of secrecy?

Siran Why the secrecy : because her owners requested it. In this business, a whish is a command. Her owner : a Lebanese businessman with Armenian roots who is a very big benefactor to Armenian cultural organisations. He is based in London, with also considerable business intrests in the USA. He was the principle agent for the royal family of a South East Asian mini-oilstate. I believe all of these clues must allow you to find out who he is...

Siran in 1992 I first saw Siran in 1992 in Monaco. Drawn to any kind of harbour i had spent most of the day gawping at the multitude of boats in Monaco which is an absolute "must go" for all boatie poseurs. Big fat beer bellied old men with the token dolly birds parading about on board who would never be seen anywhere near if these men were sitting in an old Ford Escort! I reckoned most boats that were owned, must be drug dealers. The rest just chartered out. Then, the Siran appeared gliding slowly into port. As it did, all the poseurs scurried away below the decks of their "borrowed boats"! The Siran is no "boat"....it's more a ship! I have quite a few photographs of it and got to chat with this girl who worked as a Secretary on board, her brother also a crew member. She would not tell me who it belonged to, but she did say she wished she could take me on board to look around. She described the Bathrooms which were all fitted out using the best Italian marble and gold fittings

Siran I was the girl you spoke to in 1992 on the Siran. Just to correct you, it was not my brother on board as a crew member, but my husband. He was the Chief Engineer. We were both in Holland at the De Vries Shipyard from 89-91 during her build and then on the yacht until late 1993. My husband is one of the only Chief Engineers that has supervised 3 yacht builds at De Vries Shipyard, Aalsmeer - MY Rio Rita, MY Sea Jewel and MY Siran. Siran, in my opinion, is still the most beautiful yachts around and no yacht will never have anything like the interior that Siran has - she is a one off.
