They offer state of the art, climate-controlled painting facilities, bottoms topsides, and awlgrip applications, engine repair and maintenance, waxing, and carpentry services. Hartge’s Yacht Harbor is Newest MD Clean Marina
Hartge Yacht Harbor has been designated as a Clean Marina under Maryland’s Clean Marina Program . Hartge Yacht Harbor, which changed ownership in the past few years, is a full-service marina located on the West River offering moorings and slips and picnic areas. The onsite Hartge Yacht Yard has been family-owned and operated for more than 150 years and provides expert carpentry, fiberglass, mechanical and painting services. Working together, the two businesses committed to Clean Marina best practices to earn the designation.
Working to modernize the older facility, the new owners have invested in expanding amenities for slip holders, removing the old marine railway and improving stormwater management to reduce polluted runoff. Some practices the marina has implemented include recycling boat shrink-wrap, maintaining a fuel spill response kit, controlling liquid waste such as oil, gas, and antifreeze for recycling and adding new vegetated buffers near the water’s edge.
The following Clean Marinas were successfully recertified by program staff this spring:
- Sassafras Harbor Marina, Georgetown
- Weaver’s Marine, Essex
- Parkside Marina, Middle River
- Rocky Gap State Park boat ramps
- New Germany State Park boat ramp
- Deep Creek Lake State Park boat ramp
- Herrington Manor State Park boat ramp

Great location 20min by car from Annapolis. Great staff. New Owners have made extensive upgrades to docks, wifi, etc. Office provides passes to the off site pool (in season). Be warned: the West River is hard on strainers and watermakers.

Hartge Yacht Harbor is a splendid marina to keep your boat. However, do not call on this marina's services the problem is not that they are good at anything but are bad at everything from my experience - They do not understand Webasto heaters and say that units are unusually design - They do not understand how to install Max props and in particular are confused with pitch value and the difference between left and right handed props. - They do not know how to change a hose on a manual bilge pump. - They do not know how to properly install sanitary hoses in a reasonable time. - They do not know how to install seacocks - They very seldom call back or answer emails - They make appointments and forget clients are coming. - They invoice for replacement parts they themselves have lost and invoice time taken to replace said parts. - All of this is experienced with last service manager - New service manager does not get confused with facts and bases his invoice without paying any attention to actual work completed successfully.
Pretty setting. Historic boat yard. Lovely views. Hartge is a wonderful place to park your boat, as long as you don't try to get anything done there. Hartge appears to offer marine services. Unfortunately they do not employ anyone competent at providing marine services. Six months after getting about $6,000 worth of work done to my boat I'm looking at spending at least that to repair the stuff they allegedly fixed. It astounds me that these people are still in business. By all means park your boat at Hartge Yacht Harbour but if you need any work done to your boat look elsewhere. This should be pretty easy advice to follow as they never return phone calls, respond to emails and you will never get a written quote out of them.

Re: Hartge Yacht Harbor and Yard news. Our planned September 1st move of Hartge Yacht Yard from Woodfield's to Hartge Yacht Harbor has been put off temporarily while we wait for shop renovations to be complete. We have been running the service business for both yards since September 1st with Luke, Xan, Alaina, and Laura at Woodfield's.
The Hartge Yacht Harbor has so much to offer — a very friendly and professional staff, a well-protected marina in a quaint neighborhood, plenty of parking, a recently renovated restroom with showers, a well-equipped stockroom and social events that surpass most marinas in the area.
