Does Boatsetter screen renters?

Yes. We use a system called Cognito to ensure that payment information matches the renter's identity. We also require renters taking out a captained boat to be at least 18 years old and on a bareboat to be at least 25 years old.

Is listing my boat on Boatsetter free?

Yes! Listing a boat is completely free. We only take a commission when your boat is rented. We only make money when you do!

What if I'm not comfortable having a renter drive my boat?

If you are not comfortable having a renter drive your boat, we have an expansive network of licensed and experienced captains. Once your boat is listed, you can filter through our network of captains and favorite captains in your area that you would like to operate your boat.

1975 Van De Stadt 45 Cutter Coquette is a 1975 45-foot Van de Stadt cutter, for sale by motivated seller. The Van de Stadt pedigree is obvious in this sturdy vessel (google "Van de Stadt Hawk" to read about another Van de Stadt). She has no deck coring, so deck rot is not a worry like so many other vessels of her age. Instead, the shipyard used fiberglass stringers in the solid fiberglass hull and deck. A long fin keel and spade rudder make her a great sailer upwind or down. She has safely sailed across the ocean from S. Africa and has circumnavigated the Caribbean several times. She's also been a comfortable liveaboard and local cruiser.Layout: Forward is a large six-and-a-half-foot long V-berth with storage along the hull as well as underneath. A hatch brings in cool breezes. Just aft of the V-berth is a hanging locker to starboard and large shelf storage to port. Moving aft, to port is a large double-bunk mid-cabin with storage in drawers as well as underneath. To starboard is the head, with a famous uncloggable Lavac head. There is a sink and even a small bathtub along with three cabinets. Moving aft is the large saloon, with a long settee to starboard, backed by large cabinets and underneath storage. A vented, bulkhead mounted kerosene heater can heat the whole area on cool nights. To port is a beautifully finished teak table with an L-shaped seating area. The table has an extra fold up leaf for more space. The flat floor in the saloon is carpeted, with access to the 120-gallon water tank and 70-gallon diesel tank underneath. Further aft to port is the galley with new Corian counters, a beautiful stainless and brass Taylor's kerosene stove/oven, and a large refrigerator (needs conversion) recessed into the counter. There's a stainless sink with hand and foot pumps; they are interchangeable and allow saltwater or freshwater pumping. To starboard is a navigation station with four large drawers for charts and additional storage. Aft of the nav station is a long quarter berth with storage underneath. Moving aft is the cockpit, large enough to be comfortable, small enough to be safe in a large seaway. Teak cockpit grates cover the cockpit floor and surround the Edson steering station. Teak inserts are positioned on the fiberglass seats. Like many Van de Stadts, Coquette is equipped with a large hard dodger that protects from wind and spray. The dodger even has a hatch. Two very large self-tailing winches handle foresail duty and two smaller ones take care of the staysail. Aft of the cockpit is a separate aft cabin, complete with a large berth and sitting area with table, lights, a small sink and head. Moving aft is a huge lazarette for fenders, lines, and life jackets.Coquette is powered by a reliable Perkins 4-108 diesel engine, completely rebuilt about 500 hours ago. A feathering Max Prop gives her amazing thrust in forward and reverse.Draws 6 feet with a 12-foo

The National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade returns on Saturday, April 13, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 7News is a proud media partner of the event.

The parade down Constitution Avenue will feature balloons, floats, and marching bands from around the country as well as award-winning entertainers and performers.

WHERE TO WATCH

If you are looking to watch the parade in person, spaces along the sides of Constitution Avenue are free to the public on a first-come first-serve basis.

ROAD CLOSURES

Constitution Avenue will be closed from 6th to 23rd streets, including cross streets one block north and south of Constitution Avenue.

7th through 17th Streets Northwest will be closed Saturday morning.

HOW TO GET THERE

Parking is usually limited in D.C., especially during the festival and parade. However, if you're looking to drive, parade organizers suggest purchasing "convenient and affordable" parking through SpotHero to reserve a spot. Click here to reserve a space .

Looking for an easier way to get there? Options such as Capital Bikeshare , scooters, DC Circulator , Metrobus, or Metrorail are available.

The metro is preferably the best way to get there if you get off at Archives-Navy Memorial-Penn Quarter (Green/Yellow lines), Federal Triangle (Blue/Orange/Silver lines), or Metro Center (Blue/Orange/Red/Silver lines) to stand on the north side of Constitution Avenue. To stand on the southside, get off at L’Enfant Plaza (Blue/Green/Orange/Silver/Yellow lines) or Smithsonian (Blue/Orange lines).

Other options include scooters and bike shares. Uber and Lyft are also options to get there as well as cabs.

WEATHER FORECAST

The National Park Service has confirmed that the Yoshino Cherry Tree blossoms reached peak bloom on March 17, several days before the March 23 prediction. The early bloom was due to relatively warm weather conditions across the area.

Even CBS announcers incensed by ‘unwatchable’ Virginia in March Madness: ‘Big mistake’

The general public knew better than the selection committee.

And everyone suffered.

Virginia validated all the criticism levied against the selection committee for its tournament inclusion with its pathetic, embarrassing, humiliating — pretty much any negative adjective applies here — performance in a 67-42 loss to Colorado State in the First Four on Tuesday night.

The Cavaliers produced such a horrendous product Tuesday night that even CBS’ Wally Szczerbiak — who works for the network airing the tournament — ripped the committee .

“This performance matters by Virginia. Mountain West completely blew them off the floor. Mountain West, we’ve been saying, has been completely under-seeded, and the way you perform in this tournament, it puts the committee on notice,” Szczerbiak said. “They made a mistake putting Virginia into the NCAA Tournament. Every bracketologist was saying it, they go out and perform like this.

“It’s unwatchable basketball, the way they played today, on national TV.”

This year’s selection committee has routinely been criticized by fans and pundits alike for this year’s bracket which featured some questionable selections.

The ‘Hoos had poor metrics — they now rank 73rd on KenPom — and lacked notable wins, but they still landed a No.10 seed, while other teams such as Indiana State, Pitt, St. John’s, Seton Hall and Providence missed the cut .

Many fans focused on Virginia to highlight their problems with this bracket, and Tuesday provided a chance for the Cavaliers to show they belong.

Instead, they scored 14 points in the first half.

Szczerbiak said the spurned Big East teams should be incensed after watching Virginia, and it seemed they were with St. John’s guard Daniss Jenkins tweeting it was “really crazy” in response to Knicks wing Josh Hart commenting on how Virginia earned a bid over the Big East teams.

“St. John’s is sitting there like, ‘We won six of seven, we’re scoring 90 points per game, playing great basketball down the stretch in the Big East. Seton Hall beat Marquette and UConn,” Szczerbiak said after Colorado State advanced to face Texas. “They’re sitting at home or in the NIT. They should be in this NCAA Tournament. (Pittsburgh) should be in this NCAA Tournament.

“The committee made a big mistake by putting this team in this tournament this year, and it’s nothing against Tony Bennett, he’s a national championship-winning coach, but his team did not belong on this floor with Colorado State.”

‘Elevated fire danger’ in Virginia, Maryland: Why brush fires are sparking and spreading

After several brush fires flared up around the region Wednesday, dry and windy conditions will continue to bring “elevated fire weather conditions” through Thursday evening for portions of Maryland and Virginia, the National Weather Service warned.

“Humidity is very low,” says 7News Meteorologist Brian van de Graaff. “When the relative humidity is low, any moisture that’s in grass, pine needles, or loose brush actually evaporates into the atmosphere, and it becomes more quickly flammable.”

Even though spring has arrived, dried natural materials from last year can catch fire, van de Graaff said.

“We are in the spring rebirth, but there’s also left-over pine needles and leaves, you see them in your yard,” he said. “That’s fuel — fuel for fires.”

The fuel can be right next to roads, and can be sparked “when someone chucks a cigarette butt out the window,” said van de Graaf.

There is one active fire at Shenandoah National Park that has affected 450 acres. Public affairs officer Claire Comer tells WTOP the fire began Wednesday afternoon on private land but quickly spread into the park.

Park Service crews, with help from the Virginia Department of Forestry and the Luray Fire Department, are fighting the fire, Comer said. As a result, parts of Skyline Drive are closed.

On Wednesday, fire departments in Maryland and Virginia reported several brush fires fueled by the gusty winds.

More than 100 new fires popped up across Virginia on Wednesday, affecting more than 1,600 acres across the state, many of them in the central part of the state, Virginia Department of Forestry spokesperson Cory Swift told The Associated Press .

In Montgomery County, Maryland, Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said a large fire in the woods in the Barnesville/Dickerson area was believed to have been sparked by a downed power line and burned at least 60 acres.

“The rapidly spreading fire encroached on some nearby homes” and damaged a shed, before crews got the fire contained, Piringer said on the social media platform X.

In Prince William County, Virginia, firefighters responded to more than three dozen outside fires on Wednesday. Most of them were small fires, a fire department spokesman said. However, there were three larger fires including one near Quantico that closed Route 1/Richmond Highway for hours on Wednesday evening.

The National Weather Service said Thursday’s winds are expected to be less severe than Wednesday’s. The fires on Wednesday resulted in the Washington area’s air quality to shift from good (Code Green) to moderate (Code Yellow).

Air quality has returned to Code Green for Thursday, which means no additional breathing challenges.

March is the windiest month of the year, says van de Graaf. While March winds can often provide in sneak peaks at summer, in dry conditions they increase fire risk: “That overall constant breeze is just an exacerbator.”

While the current weather advisory is expected to end at 8 p.m., van de Graaf said the dry conditions could continue through most of Friday.

“Late Friday into Saturday, we’re looking at over an inch of rain, which will moisten the ground, raise the humidity levels, and calm our fire concerns, at least for the short term.”
