I had put a $1000 deposit down on a 2019 Regal boat on April 24,2021. The deposit was refundable if the boat was not satisfactory or I could not obtain financing. I was working with my own lender for financing. It was very difficult for the finance department to get the information they needed from the dealer. The finance company approved the loan but the initial down payment they were requesting changed due to the fact the boat was way over the NADA guide price. I let the dealer know that because of the terms of the loan I would not be proceeding and I would like my deposit back. I emailed, called and they ignored me. I finally got a hold of the owner on the phone and he refused to refund me and said *I had just changed my mind*He continued to raise his voice and hung up on me. I had the lender email the dealer and explain that the financing was changed due to the price of the boat being priced over the NADA guide. I also applied to another finance company and they wouldn't even approve the loan based on the boat price. I have filed formal complaints with State of Utah Dept of commerce, Utah Dept of motor vehicles enforcement *governs dealers* along with the BBB Ironically a couple weeks later the dealer lowered the price on the boat! DO NOT PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT THEY ARE THE MOST CORRUPT DEALER I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH!

REDUCED THE PRICE !!!! because they couldn't sell it for the price they had listed it at.

Three weeks ago I called Executive boat and yacht to express interest in one of their boats, a 2000 28' Chaparral, and made a $30,000 cash offer. It took these guys over two weeks to get me a counteroffer, which I accepted. I was asked for a $1,000 wire transfer to "hold the boat." I was coming from out of state with the cashier's check for the entire amount, only three days later, So I didn't see the need to pay $35 for the wire transfer. I even texted a picture of the cashier's check. Besides, who entrusts $1,000 to anyone without even seeing what they are buying (I was given no assurance of a refund). When I suggested they charge my credit card instead, Kory stomped the deal dead by unwittingly stated, "you probably won't be happy with the boat when you see it." This, after almost three weeks of chasing around after him, his office and later some guy named Greg. Even worse, they blamed the consigner saying "he doesn't answer the phone" and other such nonsense. Since when does a boat seller not answer the person whom he hires to sell his property. I sent a picture of the cashiers check made out in full to Executive Boats... but Kory acted like a child, pouted and said, at this point I suggest that we part ways. Kory, owner of executive boats can't execute didley. He claims that he has been in business for 30 years, but his behavior is that of a very poor businessman that doesn't understand the value of a customer, particularly one that is holding the entire agreed-upon price in a cashier's check for his consigner. Other reviews sing him praises but my opinion is to the contrary. At best he carries the habits of a spoiled child and doesn't realize the value of grown people's time! He keeps his consigner's boat and I keep my money! What a joke and a waste of time- I say, stay away!

We ordered an extended swim deck from a company in Arizona and had it sent to Executive Yacht for installation. When it finally arrived it had quite a few issues with fitting on our boat. Kory and his team went above and beyond to make it fit and still look good. He also worked hard to get it done in time for the holiday even though he was super backed up. In the end it looked really great when they got it installed.

I had a pretty serious concern after having my boat winterized. I called in to voice my concern and was immediately invited to bring my boat back for their review. The issue was addressed the same day. Cory and his team along with Robin restored my confidence. The situation was handled perfectly kudos to Cory and his team. To top things off robin offered to D-winterize my boat at no charge in the spring. That is the example of good customer service.

To be successful in life one must rely on the expertise of their "guy." Tax guy, Mortgage guy, Lawn guy, Dent guy, Auto repair guy, etc. I've been doing business with Kory Toone at Executive Boat for 5 years now and that makes him my Boat guy. Executive has sold two boats for me and helped me purchase my latest boat. Unless you have endless amounts of time on your hands DO NOT sell your boat on your own. Executive has always got me the number I wanted for my boat and I didn't lift a finger. Well, unless you count dropping it off as lifting a finger. I also take my boats to Executive for all of my service needs. After trying a handful of boat mechanics, I guarantee you there is nobody better and most importantly honest and priced fair. Kory and team eat, sleep, and breathe boats and will take great care of you.

We have had a great experience working with Kory at Executive Boat and Yacht. He has always been attentive, helpful and trustworthy and they have done a great job servicing our boats over the years. He was also able to get us a great deal when we sold our most recent boat through him! Highly recommend Kory and the rest of the team.

The unspoken rules about how to behave on a superyacht

• The superyachting world is very small, with only 5,800 yachts longer than 30 meters at sea.
• That insularity has bred a specific etiquette, which is often hard for outsiders to know about.
• These are the de facto rules of the most expensive billionaire toys, superyachts .

For the owners of superyachts , privacy is often the most valuable thing money can buy. It's one reason centimillionaires and billionaires pay eight or nine figures for a palace at sea, far from the prying eyes of land dwellers.

Even the most gossipy crew members should stay tight-lipped about the name of a former owner or charter guest, and many brokers shy away from answering benign questions.

That means that, aside from basic safety guidelines, most of the rules of superyachting are unwritten. The very few who need to know them — there are only about 5,800 yachts longer than 30 meters at sea, according to SuperYacht Times — already know them.

But if you do happen to be a lucky guest at a party on a billionaire's $500 million ship or find yourself included in a $1 million-a-week vacation, there are a few things you need to know.

After four days of touring superyachts that sell for as much as $75 million and chatting with the people who buy, sell, and work on them at the Palm Beach International Boat Show , Business Insider gleaned a few key edicts. Given the discreet nature of the industry, almost all the people we spoke with requested anonymity to protect their working relationships, but here's what they had to say.

Take off your shoes

While it's a basic rule for anyone in boating, it may come as a surprise to an outsider that no matter how rich you are or how expensive your heels are, in the vast majority of cases, you can't wear shoes on board.

It's partly for safety — you don't want anyone slipping on a wet deck — but partly to keep the yacht clean. So expect to see barefoot billionaires, and if you forgot to get a pedicure, bring a set of special boat shoes.

Don't make any assumptions about money — but know the signs

In the superyacht world, it's safe to assume almost everyone you meet is very, very rich, and many brokers and builders say you can't judge a book by its cover when it comes to prospective clients.

"It has nothing to do with how they're dressed," one broker told BI. "It's the biggest mistake you can make because a complete slobby-looking guy or couple could be a multibillionaire."

There are, however, a few clues. Watches are one; new footwear is another.

"Rich people always have new shoes," a superyacht expert said. But because of the shoe rule mentioned above, this tip probably applies only when they're on land.

Book your massage early

Wellness areas, including spa rooms with a massage bed or two and a professional-grade facial machine, are becoming must-haves on superyachts . Most have a customized spa menu and a crew member who doubles as a trained masseuse or beautician — and they're usually in high demand.

One captain said he'd implemented a booking system to ensure people weren't fighting for the same spots. A broker said sometimes masseuses would be so busy they wouldn't leave the small spa cabin for hours on end.

Pirates are more real than you'd think, and many superyachts have hidden safe rooms

While you might dress up as a fake pirate for an onboard theme party, there are very real ones — and other dangers — on the high seas.

In certain areas, including parts of the Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Aden, pirates are a cause of concern . In the Red Sea, owners are concerned about the Houthis .

Superyachts can come equipped with sonic weaponry, lockdown systems, and anti-drone protection. Builders are even designing safe rooms — which are apparently just as plush as the rest of the ship.

The longer the boat, the closer to $1 billion

While you can't judge a buyer based on appearances, you can judge them on the length of their boat.

One rule of thumb: If someone has a brand-new 50-meter vessel, chances are they have $1 billion to their name. If it's over 100 meters, expect the owner to have at least $2 billion. And for a boat bigger than that — like Jeff Bezos' 127-meter megayacht Koru — it takes many, many billions.

Money can't buy you everything

The world's biggest, most expensive yachts are custom-built by shipyards that produce only a handful of boats a year.

But no matter how many tens of millions of dollars clients are spending, there are things to which builders will refuse to say yes.

"In the end, the boat has our name," an executive from one of the world's biggest shipyards told BI.

They recalled a client who requested a yellow hull to match his Lamborghini . The shipyard declined, steering the client in another direction.

"If I don't like it, I don't build it. I finalize two or three contracts a year," another builder said. "If somebody can say your vessel is ugly, my reputation is bad."

Yacht crews are trained to make the impossible possible. A guest requests fresh caviar flown into the middle of the Caribbean? No problem. Fresh flowers every day while at sea? It'll cost you, but it can be done.

But they can't time travel, and captains and crew members say the thing that causes the most friction is when a client or owner wants to go from point A to point B — right now.

"The hardest request is when they want the boat in a place — yesterday," one captain said.

The best person to know? A friend with a superyacht

Superyachts are expensive to build and expensive to maintain . According to the industry standard, owning a superyacht will cost 10% of its new-build price annually. For a $100 million yacht, that's at least $10 million yearly going to crew, regular maintenance, insurance, fuel, and dockage.

Chartering, too, is costly . Beyond the list price, which can be hundreds of thousands a week, guests must pay for provisions, which are pegged at 35% of the charter fee, and are expected to tip between 10% and 20%.

So the most important unspoken rule of superyachting is actually that the only thing better than owning a superyacht is knowing someone else who does — and invites you along, of course.

A Fort Lauderdale-based yacht broker is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit alleging that it and numerous other members of South Florida’s yacht industry engage in unfair competition by requiring 10% commissions be paid by purchasers of preowned boats.

Denison Yacht Sales is the first of a group of yacht brokers, mostly based in South Florida, to respond to allegations leveled in three antitrust lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court in Miami.

The lawsuits claim that trade associations, including the International Yacht Brokers Association, work in conjunction with Multiple Listing Services and individual yacht brokers to require that commissions are paid to brokers for both sellers and buyers.

The first lawsuit was filed by Wyoming company Ya Mon Expeditions on Feb. 29.

The second lawsuit was filed on March 22 by Alabama customer Kip Lamar Snell, while a third was filed on March 26 by a company called Magna Charter LLC, identified as a yacht purchaser who paid a commission.

On Monday, a federal judge assigned to two of the three lawsuits agreed to a request to consolidate them into a single suit.

The lawsuits are patterned after litigation that accused the National Association of Realtors of conspiring with real estate brokers to artificially inflate commissions paid when homes are sold.

A federal jury in Kansas City, Missouri, issued a ruling in October favoring the plaintiff. On March 15, the Realtors agreed to a settlement that’s expected to force major changes in how homes are sold in the United States.

Denison’s motion in the Ya Mon Expeditions case requests dismissal of the claims against only Denison, asserting that the company “has done nothing wrong and is being sued for merely being a yacht brokerage and having had an executive that served on the board of” the International Yacht Brokers Association.

Denison states that it has been “lumped into these broad-stroke allegations” that it has “implemented,” “adopted” and “enforced” a rule requiring inflated commissions of 5% each for the seller’s and buyer’s brokers.

The lawsuits refer to the alleged commission requirement as the “Buyer’s Broker Commission Rule.”

But Denison’s motion states that the broker “has no such requirement, does not require its brokers to be members of any association” and does not “require use of any MLS, nor mandate brokers pay cooperating brokers (inclusive of buyer’s brokers).”

Denison is “purely free market” and its “only major requirements are that its brokers be legally licensed and impeccably honest,” the motion states.

Further, the motion states that the lawsuit fails to make specific allegations regarding Denison while making “vague and conclusory” charges against all 15 defendants.

The only specific allegation that forms the basis for naming Denison as a co-defendant, the motion states, stems from company president Bob Denison’s membership on the International Yacht Broker Association board of directors, the motion states. That allegation cannot be used to hold Denison Yacht Sales liable, because there is a lack of “evidence of actual knowledge of, and participation in” what the plaintiffs allege is an illegal scheme.

Other shortcomings of the complaint, as identified in the motion, include failure to allege reasonable restraint on trade or an antitrust injury.

Denison is represented by Beverly Hills, California-based attorney Christopher Brainard, and Emily Heim of Bayramoglu Law Office LLC of Henderson, Nevada. Heim did not respond to an email on Monday and Brainard said he had no comment on Denison’s motion or the cases against the yacht broker industry.

Denison’s response is likely just the first of a cascade of court filings to follow as the consolidated case seeks class-action status.

Late last week, attorneys came forward representing defendants Boats Group LLC, Permira Advisers LLC, United Yacht Sales LLC, HMY Yacht Sales, Galati Yacht Sales LLC, MarineMax Inc., and Northrop & Johnson Yacht Ships LLC.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge K. Michael Moore granted a request by two of the law firms representing Ya Mon Expeditions and Kip Lamar Snell to consolidate the three “nearly identical” cases into one, effective immediately.

The judge’s ruling stated that consolidating the cases would “streamline these proceedings and eliminate unnecessary repetition and confusion.”

Moore, however, said he would decide on the law firms’ request to appoint them as interim co-lead counsel in the consolidated case “in due course.”

If the request is granted, interim co-lead counsel responsibilities would be divided among Robbins Geller Rudman & Dowd LLP, an antitrust firm with offices in 10 cities, and Miami-based Podhurst Orseck P.A., a nationally known firm that specializes in complex commercial and class action claims.

Ferruccio Rossi steps down from Sanlorenzo

Ferruccio Rossi has officially stepped down from Sanlorenzo as executive director and general manager. According to a recent announcement, Rossi has relinquished all management powers previously granted to him by Sanlorenzo's board of directors, effective 8 April 2024 and will also be stepping down as company director as of 30 April 2024 under mutual terms.

The decision comes in the wake of the Group's 2022 reorganisation of key departments . Rossi will continue to serve as non-executive director until the end of October and will progressively step down from his positions within other areas of the Group during this period.
