Equipped with a hydraulic platform that makes sailing available for everyone. Innovation and luxury all in one yacht. She has five double cabins all with ensuite facilities to accommodate 10 guests in comfort, perfect to accommodate five couples. Blue Velvet can have up to 12 guests, as there is an extra cabin with upper and lower bunk beds (ideal for two children or young adults, again with ensuite facilities). Also loved by families with children, who enjoy the spacious front and flybridge area. The available water toys will bring fun to another level. He started sailing as a member of the Sailing Club of Patras. He has participated in various sailing races and has achieved many awards in national championships, among which are the Ionian and the Aegean Rally. At the age of 25, he had his own sailing boat which he fully refitted himself. Now he is a professional skipper with lots of experience, and most importantly, he has a lot of love for the sea, creating a very promising combination, which guarantees great services and unforgettable holidays. He has been working with us for over 20 years and his abilities made him one of the best and most trustworthy skippers in our company. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and all sea-related activities. CHRISTINA XOURGIA - Hostess Place of birth: Messolonghi, Greece Age: 32 Nationality: Greek Languages spoken: English, Greek Christina started back in 2018 when she had her first sailing trip as a client. She quickly understood that this kind of working life was perfect for her. Working as a hostess on sailing boats offers the perfect match because of her love of the sea as well as giving care to others. Advertised by DMA Yachting, the majestic charter yacht Blue Velvet is a 52 ft sailing catamaran. The promiment features of Blue Velvet are her most appealing features and experienced crew. Blue Velvet spends the summer season in Greece. She was constructed by recognized shipbuilder Lagoon in 2020. The expansive yacht layout features 6 generous cabins and comfortably accommodates up to 12 guests.

Blue Velvet is introduced primarily as a sailing catamaran. The the core layout is spread out from the main saloon, which connects to the aft deck. The aft deck is expansive, with a comfortable dining and seating area and that's where most of the delicious meals are served. The tasteful cabins offer designer mattrace beds and feature ensuite bathrooms. The cabins are located below the main saloon, connected by stairs (inquire about handicapped access). Multiple portholes offer desirable views, while providing privacy if needed.

Most expenses are deducted from an Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA), a fund that is added on top of the charter price. The expenses, such as provisioning, fuel, marina fees, are deducted from the APA. The APA is based on the price of the yacht and ranges from 15% (crewed sailing yachts) to 30% (motor yachts with higher fuel consumption). You can actively control these expenses in your preference sheet (local vs. imported beverages) and by choice of itinerary (distances traveled). Sailing yacht BLUE VELVET is a 15.84m (52') crewed catamaran vessel, offering deluxe charter vacations in Greece. With accommodation spreading over 5 modern cabins, she is able to sleep up to 10 guests, while her crew ensures everyone has a pleasant and relaxing time on board.

The main deck aft offers a broad sunbed to port, with a C-shaped alfresco dining area to starboard that is sheltered by the flybridge overhang. Both hulls have steps leading down to the water for easy access to the tender as well as the sea.

The foredeck section in front of the helm station provides a U-shaped sunbed for lying back and resting in the sunshine or for use as a seating area with a foot well in the middle. Farther forward, the two net trampolines are likely to be a hit with children and they can also be used as an additional sunbathing area.

The flybridge above is shaded by the hardtop and provides sunbeds aft of the helm station as well as a place to sit and dine alfresco while taking in uninterrupted views of the surroundings.

BLUE VELVET Specifications

The accommodation is placed in the port and starboard hulls, with the central section dedicated to the shared guest area. The galley is placed to port and has an island counter that conceals a pop-up widescreen TV. The starboard side places a sofa with chaise-lounger arms into the aft corner, at the centre of which is a raised table for the full group to dine together. The forward section hosts the helm controls and the entire room is surrounded by windows for plenty of natural light and excellent views of the destination.

Twin Yanmar 4JH4-ATCESD diesel engines of 54 HP each provide propulsion during low wind conditions.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

The accommodation sleeps a maximum of 10 guests across 5 en-suite cabins, all of which are double cabins. ~ The port hull contains one double cabin forward and one aft, with the central section containing the crew accommodation. The starboard hull contains three double cabins - forward, centre and aft. All guest cabins come furnished with a queen-sized bed, TV entertainment, storage, a desk and an en-suite bathroom providing a toilet, sink and shower.

Panagiotis Kourouklis

Panos was born in Mesologgi, Greece in 1968. He started sailing as a member of the Sailing Club of Patras. He has participated in various sailing races and has achieved many awards in national championships, among which are the Ionian and the Aegean Rally. At the age of 25, he had his own sailing boat which he fully refitted himself. Now he is a professional skipper with lots of experience, and most importantly, he has a lot of love for the sea, creating a very promising combination, which guarantees great services and unforgettable holidays. He has been working with us for over 20 years and his abilities made him one of the best and most trustworthy skippers in our company. In his free time, he enjoys fishing and all sea-related activities.

Christina Xourgia

Christina started back in 2018 when she had her first sailing trip as a client. She quickly understood that this kind of working life was perfect for her. Working as a hostess on sailing boats offers the perfect match because of her love of the sea as well as giving care to others. She is a passionate and enthusiastic person and her duties include: • welcoming guests • preparing and serving breakfast and lunch • making refreshing drinks and snacks • keeping the yacht functional and • helping the skipper when is needed Overall she can also offer exercise breaks for who is interested, due to her professional experience in sports

Blue Velvet 52 yacht is a 52.0 ft long sailboat catamaran, It was built by Lagoon in 2020. The yacht layout features 6 cabins and accommodates 10 guests. The cabin arrangement is following: 5 queen cabins, 1 twin cabin for the crew. The 52 marks a whole new era in the design of cruising catamarans, as indeed did its predecessor, the famed 500.

With its diamond-shaped vertical bows, beveled hulls, its as if levitated deckhouse and tall rig, the 52 is no ordinary catamaran, but its originality goes a great deal further than just its “outer” appearance, or even its interior layout.

This Lagoon is the result of lengthy discussions between the architects at Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), the Italian Nauta Design agency and the Lagoon design department. These discussions led us to make some important and sometimes radical choices, while remaining faithful to what we believe in, in terms of elegance, comfort, safety, user friendliness and, it goes without saying, performance under sail.

RI resident appears in her fourth Shark Week episode

A Shark Week episode airing Wednesday night will have a strong Rhode Island connection, even though it was filmed 6,700 miles away in the waters off Japan.

Jamestown resident Christine de Silva, a shark scientist, will co-host Discovery's "Alien Sharks: Ghosts of Japan," at 10 p.m.

It will mark the fourth Shark Week TV episode since 2020 for de Silva, co-founder and CEO of Juice Robotics, a Rhode Island company that develops cameras and other equipment used for documenting underwater sea life.

For the episode, de Silva and Forrest Galante, a wildlife biologist who has produced previous Shark Week shows and hosts " Mysterious Creatures with Forrest Galante " on Animal Planet, worked mostly in Suruga Bay in the southeastern part of Japan.

Juice Robotics' equipment used off Japan

The show gave de Silva the opportunity to showcase some of her company's equipment, which can operate at depths of 3,000 meters, though most of the work was done at 200 to 800 meters.

Their main goal was to find and tag a Japanese angelshark , an elusive bottom-dwelling species that was targeted for its skin "for a really long time" before it was protected from fishing, according to de Silva.

The episode will also show some of the 15 other shark species de Silva and Galante found off Japan.

"We try to stay away from the fear mongering," de Silva said. "We focus on showcasing the different species."

A highlight came when a velvet dogfish gave birth on the boat deck, a useful event to witness because it provided information on how many pups the species delivers, according to de Silva.

Growing up in the Cape Cod town of Chatham, de Silva got to witness another shark story unfold practically in her own back yard, as the white shark population increased dramatically off the town's beaches.

She grew up on Cape Cod, which has its own shark story

Now 30, de Silva is pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Rhode Island. She graduated from its Blue MBA program in 2023. The Blue MBA is a dual degree program combining an MBA with a master's degree in oceanography.

In Japan, de Silva and Galante worked from a boat with Japanese deep-sea shark fishermen. Concerned about the effect on their occupation, fishermen often don't welcome such working relationships.

"We were, like, all good friends in the end," de Silva said.
