Guide to the Yacht Week Croatia Itinerary

  • By Susan Weston

What is Yacht Week Croatia?

Yacht Week is a week-long sailing adventure around the Croatian Islands on your own Catamaran. It is basically college spring break with an itinerary of partying all day and night. Our boat was the oldest ranging from our late 20s to 52 (Damn Damon), but I had assumed it would all be college kids, and it wasn’t. Most boats were in their 20’s and early 30’s. Despite our ages, our boat was the party boat, and we ended up with quite the reputation.

Itinerary Day 1 – Trogir

Day 1 was frustrating. We were all super excited. We had already checked out of our hotels and had all our luggage with us, but we had to wait until almost 5 p.m. for the skipper and host to prepare the boat. We spent breakfast and lunch at the same restaurant (poor servers). Then we went to the pier and sat there waiting and waiting and waiting. It was a buzz kill for sure, but it all worked out. Just be prepared.

Shout out to our skipper, Simon and host, Mia! They were the best and were 100% the reason we had such a good time.

Itinerary Day 1 was spent waiting Yacht Week Croatia

It’s important to know which marina your boat will leave from when planning your accommodations. We departed from ACL Marina Trogir, which is located farther away from Split but closer to the airport, so it worked out well for us. The pre-party on Day 1 was held at Padres, a bar located in Trogir. Since we were staying in Trogir, we could easily walk to the bar instead of taking a water taxi like other Yacht Week boats. Just a heads up – your catamaran will not leave the dock until Day 2.

Cover Charges During Yacht Week

Carpe Diem, Padres, Hula Hula, Club 585 and Fort George are private Yacht Week events. Other events are for the general public, but your Yacht Week bracelet grants free entry.

Itinerary Day 2 – Hvar

We sailed to the ACL Marina Palmizana near Hvar. It is a small, secluded island with a beach, a coffee shop, and showers. In the evening, we took a water taxi to the beach club Carpe Diem, located on its island of Stipanska, for the Siren’s Call party. It was sad to see that many people didn’t follow the theme. Don’t be those people. After that, we took a boat taxi into Hvar and went to Kiva Bar. Hvar is a beautiful city with small alleys filled with bars and restaurants. Although Kiva was fun, it was packed with people.

Laundry During Yacht Week Croatia

The ACL Marina Palmizana has laundry facilities. It is a perfect time to do laundry because you will spend two nights here.

Itinerary Day 3 – Hvar

Today is usually day 5 on the itinerary, but it was changed due to the weather. Normally, it is a much-needed recharge day. We spent the day hanging out with all the other Yacht Weekers on our boats, as there wasn’t much to do on the small island.  In the evening, we went into Hvar again. Our host recommended hiking 15 minutes to the fort for sunset, but it looked high, and we were lazy. There was a Yacht Week party at Hula Hula. It’s just a short walk from the water taxi drop-off.

Yacht Week Drinking Tip: Roadies

Get some roadies for your walk to Hula Hula. We didn’t, and our new friends from London gave me a warm beer. I was appreciative, but why is it only Americans who like super cold drinks?

Advice for Hula Hula, Hvar

Getting a drink at Hula Hula was impossible, but we walked another 2 minutes and found a bar on the right-hand side with no line and a better view. I even met a guy from my hometown, which is very small. It is a small world.

At dinner, I decided to practice my Croatian language skills. I learned that “živjeli” means “cheers” in Croatian. I thought I was pronouncing the word perfectly, but the waitress and my table mates did not agree. The waitress spent 5 minutes at our table trying to help me before shaking her head and giving up. Nonetheless, I will never forget the word; I even got it tattooed on my back in Croatian Script.

Water Taxis

We bought round-trip tickets for our water taxi, but when we went to head home, we were told the taxi we had tickets for only came every hour. It was strange. They all looked the same.  The man who claimed that “he wasn’t our taxi” allowed me to board anyway, so who knows. It was a rough ride. I ended up sitting on the floor of the tiny boat between all the passengers. At least I was protected from getting wet. Just make sure the boat is going back to the right marina.

Where to Eat:   Silk (Ul. Sveti Marak 14, 21450, Hvar, Croatia) Serving Pan-Asian Fresh Street Food. Our host recommended it.

Itinerary Day 4 – Bol

On day 4 of the itinerary, we sailed to Bol. Our skipper was the lead, so we tied up along the waterfront while other boats had to anchor in the marina and take a tender. We walked 15 minutes along the beach to the Auro Beach Bar. The bar is at the island’s tip and was very windy, so beware. There is a little train that drives back and forth if you are feeling hungover. At night, everyone headed to Club 585. I won’t name names, but someone forgot I was in the bathroom on the boat and left without me. I’m blaming the alcohol.

Where to Eat: Taverna Riva (Frane radića 5, 21420 Bol, Croatia) – Located on the waterfront across from our catamaran. Beautiful view and delicious Mediterranean food.

Itinerary Day 5 – Sailing

Today was Regatta Day, which we thought would be a big event, but it turned out to be a simple sailing trip. We sailed together to our destination, where we anchored for the Tunnel Raft Party. Our group dressed in a Mario Cart theme for the Regatta but then changed into regular beach clothes.

The Tunnel Raft Party was a blast. All the boats were tied together in two long lines. A DJ played music from a boat in the middle, and everyone floated on their rafts and walked from boat to boat, enjoying the party. Again, we were lucky to have the lead skipper, so he ensured we were right next to the DJ. We transformed our boat into a Vegas Club with a VIP section guarded by a Velvet Rope. Damon and Johnny acted as bouncers, and anyone who passed by had to get a “Welcome to the Shit Show” tattoo. There was a rumor that our boat was the “Only Fans” boat, but that’s another story.

Itinerary Day 6 – Vis

Half of the group went on a day trip to a cave, while I decided to stay behind and find a coffee shop with Wi-Fi. At this point, I still had no idea where I was going after Yacht Week. I had no plans for the eight days until my flight back to the US. We had one last dinner with our skipper and host and went to Fort George for the final party.

Where to Eat: Villa Rustica (Mijurovac ul. 16, 21480, Vis, Croatia) – Most of the Yacht Weekers went to Fort George for dinner before the party, but our host recommended this restaurant for traditional Croatian food. It was delicious and within walking distance from our boat.

Itinerary Day 7 – Back to Marina

Sadly, we had to sail back to the marina. We stopped and had one more opportunity to swim before packing and cleaning.

And that is what the itinerary looks like on Yacht Week in Croatia. Would I go again? Absolutely. Have you already booked your trip? Check out the Top 11 Tips to Know Before Yacht Week Croatia .

Yacht Week Croatia: the ultimate guide to what and when to wear

the-yacht-week-croatia

When I went for yacht week a few years ago, I did not have any expectations and I packed the same outfits I would generally take on any other beach vacation. However, I felt unprepared all the time and wish someone would have told me not only what to pack but what to wear to the themed parties. This ultimate Yacht Week (YW) outfits guide has you covered!

Day 1: Trogir marina – Padre bar

Woohoo, you’ve made it to TYW Croatia ! This is your first day at the marina where you meet your skipper and the YW crew. Check-in takes place between 1-4 pm, once done you can get to know your crew and enjoy a cold beverage at the marina cafe. Your yacht will be accessible by 6 pm.

Wear something casual today because you will have a long day full of unpacking, setting up your room, and grocery shopping for the upcoming trip.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Once set, upscale your look to a casual elegant attire. I would say rather casual than elegant  – a silk top or a jumpsuit but no heels or dresses. Why? You will be getting to the opening party at the Padre Bar via a dingy, so you will appreciate comfy shoes and shorts/skorts.  It is a cool (but a bit sketchy) open-air bar located in medieval ruins.

Day 2: Trogir – Vis

You probably woke up when the boat was on its way to Vis. The sea breeze feels amazing so put on a swimsuit and get a tan on the deck for the day. When you dock you can either chill on a floatie until dinner or go explore the town.

the-yacht-week-croatia

If you picked the second option, after wandering around Vis, head straight to the dinner followed by a party at Fort George. It is one of the most beautiful locations in Croatia with stunning 360 views. That said, the outfits should be on point! The theme for the night is Tropical Retro. Here are some outfit inspiration ideas:

Please avoid the following outfits: swimsuits, wank tops, vests, nudity/ transparent clothing, or novelty onesies.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Day 3: Vis to Hvar (St Tropez of Croatia)

Hvar is called the Saint Tropez of Croatia for a reason. You will start your day with a party in the middle of the sea! Grab a funny swimsuit and a floatie for a Circle Raft. It is Yacht Week’s iconic party where all the yachts circle around a famous DJ in the middle.

Yacht Week's iconic Circle Raft party

Bring tons of sunscreen, a one-piece swimsuit, minimum jewelry, a hat, and a pair of shades that you are ok to lose. I was not ready for this party at all, so here are some funny swimsuits I can imagine wearing (I wish someone else would have prepared this outfit guide before):

In the afternoon, dress casually to explore Hvar, eat dalmatian seafood, or enjoy a cocktail in the Laganini cabanas amongst the trees. Hvar is a two-day stop, so take it easy on your first-day explorations and meet other yacht weekers for a sunset party at the Hula Hula beach bar. It is said that there is no better place to watch the sunset than there. When the sun goes down, find a dinner spot in town, then head to a tiny Kiva Bar – a YW favorite spot.

Day 4: Palmizana, Hvar

In the morning put on your activewear for HIIT Class or join a Run club and hit the trains of Palmizana.

Explore Hvar, visit the fortress, and wine cellars, grab lunch on the Riva, and then join the Riviera Chic Party. Or come back to your yacht after lunch, freshen up and catch a transfer over to Carpe Diem Beach for the party.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Nothing says summer like white! Riviera Chic Party is YW’s famous white party, so put on your best whites, be beautiful, and elegant, sip champagne and get ready to be snapped like a celebrity!

Think classy white or stylish stripes and nautical colors to achieve an effortlessly 1950s chic look. Avoid tank tops (men), swimwear, flip-flops, or beachwear.

the-yacht-week-croatia

After the party wander around the cobbled streets of Hvar and stop at one of the restaurants for some food with your crew.

Day 5: Hvar – Bol

Explore the beautiful town of Bol, walking along its lovely seafront promenade all the way to the Golden Horn beach.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Put on your sportswear to do a free yoga class in the afternoon, play beach volleyball, and participate in parasailing, water tubing, and other beach activities.

the-yacht-week-croatia

In the evening, dress casually and sip a cocktail at Auro Beach Bar or explore the Roman ruins in the woods over the beach.

Have dinner and get ready to catch the free transfer to the party at Club 585.

Day 6: Bol to Starigrad

From Bol, you will be heading to one of Croatia’s beautiful natural bays, raft all the yachts together and stay overnight on a yacht watching the shooting stars.

Prepare your floatie and a swimsuit for another traditional yacht week-style tunnel raft party at Starigrad Bay with a DJ. Enjoy the party drifting from the yacht to yacht on your floaties.

the-yacht-week-croatia

Return to your yacht, cook dinner onboard, have a relaxing evening together, play board games, and read books. Get a blanket and lay on deck watching shooting stars and falling asleep – where else you can have such a magical experience!

Day 7: Stari Grad to Trogir – Regatta Day

the-yacht-week-croatia

The Yachtweek Regatta is one of the biggest events of the week and my personal favorite! All the boats sail together while each crew shows off their costumes in an attempt to win the best theme. Throw on your wigs, deck your crew out and get ready for a regatta day – this is what you brought fun dress costumes for!

Regatta winners are chosen based on sailing time, atmosphere onboard, clothing and decorations. So, think of something big, bright, and catchy for the costumes, easy dance moves, and music on board. Ideally, you should pick a theme and dance or at least make some synchronized moves! My favorites were “Bae Watch” (a few boats had them), butterflies with big wings, and an Aladdin-inspired theme.

the-yacht-week-croatia

In the evening when you return back to Marinas – pack your bag, clean the yacht and get ready for a Closing party where the Regatta winner team will be announced.

How do I prepare for Yacht Week?

Yacht week is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but sometimes preparing can be a little overwhelming. Good news! We’ve created the perfect cheat sheet for yacht week.

How-do-I-prepare-for-Yacht-Week

To prepare, all you need to focus on is what to pack and what you are packing for . If you get these two things right, you are set!

We are doing a deep dive break-down of what to pack for yacht week and what you actually do during yacht week, including an example itinerary.

What to pack for Yacht Week ?

You could get away with wearing the same flip flops the entire time if you really wanted to. You won’t need heels . Trust me, you’ll be falling all over the deck, and no one else will be wearing them .

These are not essential, so don’t feel like you’ll miss out on the memories if you don’t have a waterproof camera. The Yacht Week provides professional photographers for each event.

However, if you’d prefer instant access and more personalised photos, bring your own camera (or get a waterproof phone case and use your phone camera).

Miscellaneous.

  • Floatie: Try to bring a smaller one. A bigger one can be a hassle to move around and get on and off the yacht.
  • Pump for your floatie: Believe me, you do not want to have to inflate it using just your lungs!
  • Water bottle: The sea air can make your throat scratchy, and you’ll want to stay hydrated.
  • A book or board games/cards for more chilled days/evenings.
  • Country Flag: Sometimes, finding which boat is yours can get confusing. Pack a flag to fly off the yacht to show pride and help you identify your boat!
  • You may want to pack an eye mask and earplugs if your idea of bedtime doesn’t match the rest of The Yacht Week revellers.

What not to pack for yacht week

  • A hard suitcase
  • Clothing that takes longer to dry (like clothing made of wool)
  • Expensive accessories
  • Water balloons (these will pop and litter the ocean).

What do you do during yacht week ?

Yacht week is essentially a boutique floating festival. During The Yacht Week, you explore the places you stop at, party hard most nights, and make loads of friends!

Each route is different depending on which you choose, but there are a few similarities. Here is a detailed example of what yacht week could look like using the Original Route’s itinerary:

  • Start in Trogir on day one, explore Trogir, enjoy local food and architecture- and then attend your first yacht week party in the evening.
  • Head off to Bol on day two. Here you get a free yoga session, enjoy some fun beach activities, and in the evening, another party- this time at a club with a complimentary light show and internationally acclaimed DJs.
  • On day three of the original route in Croatia, you’ll head to Natural Bay. Here You’ll have a slow race on regatta day, and the evening brings whatever you make of it.
  • Hvar is where you end up on day four. Here you can visit a few of the surrounding islands or have a run across Palmizana. Regardless of what you choose, today is more of a wind-down day- until sundown when the party starts again at Carpe Diem Beach for the Riviera Chic-themed party.
  • You’re still at Hvar on day five, but you get to explore the streets and local intrigues before sundowners in the evening at Hula Hula beach bar.
  • Day six brings you to Vis. Here you explore the little town, perhaps by scooter or foot, and you end the day at Fort George, where you eat dinner and start the party (which is themed Dockside Disco).
  • The penultimate day and the last night are back at Trogir. This is a chilled day where you can relax on the waterfront or investigate the allures of Trogir some more if you didn’t get enough on the first day. Then in the evening, there is the grand finale, and you get to party the night away at some epic venues.
  • Day eight is the end of the cruise and the end of one of the best weeks of your life!

Yacht week is an adventure and a memory waiting to be made. Yacht Week is definitely for you if you love travelling, music, and socialising! But don’t take my word for it. Give these articles a read and see if perhaps Bucketlust or Sail-Week would suit you better.

If you didn’t find all the information you were looking for in this article, take a look at our breakdown of The Yacht Week costs (including the hidden ones).

The Official Guide to All 6 Yacht Weeks

yacht week bol

Perhaps you’ve heard about this thing called The Yacht Week, an exclusive seven-day, spring break-like flotilla for kind-of grownups that involves sailboats, exotic locales, and hard-partying young people from around the world. Days are spent drinking onboard chartered boats while nights are spent drinking in clubs you’ve only seen on Wild On! Somewhere in between people sleep and probably quote that Andy Samberg & T-Pain song waaaay too much.

But how can you  get in on the action and live like a billionaire playboy for the week? For less than $2,000. And where, exactly, is all this partying going on? To sort it out, we talked to Kiersten Rich -- aka,  The Blonde Abroad -- a travel blogger and one of  our favorite Instagrammers on the planet . She’s been to Yacht Week a time or five, and broke it all down for us. Here are her insider tips for all six routes.

yacht week bol

So, what is The Yacht Week?

Yacht Week is not like Fashion Week or Music Week, where you just show up and party. It’s a private trip full of private parties that you buy your way into. Old and new money are accepted.

Actually, The Yacht Week isn't just one trip but a series of flotillas throughout the year organized by European Travel Ventures. You join the fun by either rounding up your friends and chartering a boat or, if you're flying solo, reserving a cabin on an existing yacht using their handy website . The number of boats on each route is limited, so in either case, you should book early.

Also, there’s the catch: The Yacht Week regulates the guy/girl ratio on every trip, aiming for an even 50/50 mix. So when you book, you'll see a percentage next to the boat you're trying to reserve; this is the minimum percentage of female patrons that must be in your party to set sail. It’s kinda like going to a high-end club, except instead of getting seven hours of pounding techno music, you get seven days of it.

Once onboard/on location, participants receive a weeklong schedule of events planned by TYW that includes everything from exclusive parties, to snorkeling adventures, to day trips around nearby islands; again, it all depends on the itinerary. And again, ONLY people from the organized Yacht Week itineraries can attend those crazy parties you keep watching on YouTube. Participants are easily identified by their brightly colored wristbands that scream, “Yes! I’m one of the cool kids!”

The exact routes aren’t planned until a few weeks before the trip, so you’re kind of flying blind when you book. But nobody (to our knowledge) has ever come back and called it “the worst week of my life.” So, you can probably trust in The Yacht Week's planning skills.

yacht week bol

Where is The Yacht Week?

There are six locations where The Yacht Week operates: Greece, Croatia, Turkey, Italy, Thailand, and the British Virgin Islands (BVI). As mentioned, each route runs during a specific time of year (although there is some overlap), typically summer in Europe, winter in Thailand, and winter/spring in BVI.

Here's the thing though, despite the name, it’s not just ONE set week. In fact, participants typically have six or seven weeks to choose from throughout the season for EACH destination. This summer, there are actually 13 weeks for the Croatia route.

How much does it cost?

Again, that depends on the itinerary, how many people are in your group, and what kind of boat you charter. It can range from about $600-$1,000 a person, not including food, plane tickets, or transfers from the nearest airport to the marina. The rate also doesn’t include fuel or port fees for your boat (which can range from $25-$100 per night) or the cost of a skipper/hostess should you not know how to sail the damn thing and/or want to make your own sandwiches.

And speaking of skippers and hostesses?

Most people on The Yacht Week can’t sail. And even for the people who do know how, the amount of partying involved typically doesn’t lend itself to a long day at the helm. So participants often hire a skipper who will both lovingly refer to you as “Lil Buddy” and drive your rig. He'll also teach you how to sail if you want to actually learn something during your week of debauchery. But no pressure.   For a mixed or all-female boat, the skipper will cost you between $800-$1,200, depending on your route and exchange rate. For an all-male group, it runs between $1,300-$1,800.

You can also hire a hostess for the week to do all the cooking and cleaning, and have meals (and drinks) ready when you return to the boat after a hard day of partying. This will set you back an additional $750-$1,000, plus the cost of food (all of which, she'll buy).

yacht week bol

What do I do all day?

A typical day, as described on the company’s website, is as follows:

9-11am: Wake up and eat breakfast on the boat. 10am-12pm: Set sail. 12-2pm: Lunch stop in a nice natural bay. The yacht will stay at anchor for one-two hours while you swim, eat lunch, and relax. 2-4pm: Sail to the next port. Enjoy some sun on deck. 4-6pm: Arrive at port. If you get there early, you can score a slip and walk ashore. If you arrive late, you're likely grabbing a mooring in the harbor and will take the dinghy to the dock. 6-8pm: Dinner at a restaurant in town. 8-11pm: Drinks, socializing, and parties on the boats. 10pm-12am: Head to the evening's designated Yacht Week party. 2-4am: Bed time!

When: June 4th-September 3rd Where:  After departing from a marina near Split, you’ll sail to Rogac, Milna, Bol, Hvar, Scedro, Vis (including both the Green AND Blue Caves) Komiza, and Korcula. Don’t miss: The Party in a Castle at Ft. George

The most famous of all the yacht weeks, this is probably the one you saw in the video and were like, "We've GOT to do this." It's the biggest party of them all and attracts up to 50 boats per itinerary. It's so big now that they actually operate in two different directions to accommodate the crowds. This is THE yacht week to go on if you want to rage, and while it’s not all that much of a cultural or learning experience, it’s definitely the route to take if you want stories your friends back home won’t believe.

click to play video

When: July 23rd - August 6th Where: Starting in Sicily, you’ll sail to Vulcano, Lipari, Salina, Panarea, and Stromboli. Don’t miss: The trek up an active volcano in Stromboli (lava flow permitting)

Unlike Croatia, this is the best route if you want to learn a lot about the country you’re visiting. The itinerary sails through the islands around Sicily that you typically wouldn’t see on vacation, and it affords you the opportunity to climb up the aforementioned volcano. The daytime exploring here displaces a lot of the daytime parties, but if you’re hellbent on getting your afternoon drink on , there are plenty of other boats around to party with. The route is a little smaller -- typically 15-25 boats -- and the dining and nightlife can get expensive.

click to play video

When: July 9th - September 3rd Where: Starting in Lavrio or Alimos (depending on your route), you'll sail to Kea, Poros, Ermioni, Dhokos, Hydra, Spetses, and Plaka. Don’t miss: The White Party on Ermioni Island

This route through the Greek Islands is far and away the most organized, offering the most regimented schedule/number of official parties; although you’re free to skip any of the soirees if you want to check out the islands on your own. The sailing days here are the longest (some up to six hours) and many of those are spent motoring rather than sailing, which mean fuel costs can add up. The size of the flotilla is small (approximately 12 boats) but the parties on the Greek Islands are some of the best you’ll hit.

click to play video

British Virgin Islands

When: December 27 - January 10th, March 5th - 26th, May 28th - June 18th Where: Starting in Road Town, Tortola, boats sail to Jost Van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, Norman Island, and Peter Island. Don’t miss: The Baths, one of the Caribbean’s best beaches , is an entire landscape of giant, volcanically formed boulders that create dozens of grottoes and pools.

The Yacht Week routes in Europe are all about parties and cultural destinations. But when you get to the BVIs, it’s more palm trees, white sand, and turquoise waters. The actual area around the islands is small, which means short sailing routes and long days on beaches like White Bay and The Baths with a painkiller in hand. Your night parties will be laid-back affairs, with trips to the legendary Foxy’s on Jost Van Dyke and beachside bars in Tortola. The routes are typically 10-30 yachts and run in the spring, but the special New Years week includes one of the craziest NYE parties on the planet.

click to play video

When: December 12th - January 3rd Where: Starting in Yacht Haven near Phuket, you’ll sail through the islands of Southwest Thailand with stops in Koh Yao Noi, Railay Beach, Koh Muk, and Koh Phi Phi. Don’t miss: The Emerald Cave at Koh Muk, a beach you can only reach by swimming through a cave in complete darkness.

Beautiful scenery is great. Epic parties are fun. But too much of either can make a yacht week a little one-sided. The Thai route offers the perfect balance, with opening and closing parties at world-renowned nightclubs (Nikki Beach and XANA Beach Club), a stop at Ko Phi Phi Don, and a relaxed weeklong sailing tour through tropical islands, including the privately-owned Khai Nui and Maya Bay (aka, the place where they filmed that DiCaprio movie). This flotilla typically runs about 20 boats.

click to play video

When: July 23rd - August 6th Where: Starting in either Maramris or Fethiye, you’ll sail to Ciftlik, Ekincik, Sarsala, Gocek, and Gemiler Adasi. Don’t miss: Ekincik, a remote, desert cove with underwater caves perfect for exploring

The newest addition to the Yacht Week experience, this 20-boat excursion along the Turkish Mediterranean coast runs in opposite directions each week and is another ideal itinerary for folks interested in exploring the area. Although there’s still no shortage of late-night parties in the port towns along the way. The extra costs aren’t too bad here, as food in Turkey is cheaper than in other destinations, but it’s new trip, so stay tuned for likely changes to the itinerary in upcoming years.

Exploring The Yacht Week In Croatia

' src=

How does one even begin to describe The Yacht Week ? Trust me, it is not an easy task. I’ve been at a loss for words trying to sum up my experience and honestly, the word that keeps popping into my head is “insane”. That’s TYW for you: it’s insane.  Insane all over the board. It’s an insanely great time, an insanely crazy experience, insanely epic, and it is absolute floating insanity.

yacht week bol

When you spend the week on the water in close quarters on a pretty much go-go-go schedule , it is so important to have a great crew alongside you. My boat, The Bird Watchers, had that down perfectly. We hired a skipper named Max who led our charge and sailed us from port to port and guided us through the week. Whether recommending and booking our dinner reservations, getting our pre-parties hyped up, or just showing us an amazing time, Max was a riot and the perfect addition to our crew.

yacht week bol

It also helps having a boat full of people that are somewhat like minded. We all loved to party with TYW crew but also enjoyed taking it easy every so often, staying active and healthy, playing cards and have our own dance and sing along parties on our  yacht. When you sign up, make sure you have at least one other person on your boat who beats to a drum similar to your own.

If you could sail, swim, and celebrate on repeat each day for a week until you’re happily exhausted, you’d do it, wouldn’t you? Well, boating has just the event for that: Yacht Week. Haven’t heard of it? Here’s a Yacht Week Beginner’s Guide :

Rent. Charter. Share— only at Boatsetter

First, what is Yacht Week?

If you’ve never heard of The Yacht Week , it’s called the original floating festival. You stay aboard a skippered boat with a bunch of your friends, cruising alongside other like-minded travelers.

A skippered boat is a boat with someone who is in command of it, more or less equal to a captain! This gives your crew opportunities to focus on the fun and potentially learn boating from an experienced guide.

Options exist for per- cabin bookings, too. Regardless, for seven days, you explore convoy-style, visiting picture-perfect destinations like Croatia, Turkey, Tahiti, and the British Virgin Islands. While you have the freedom to follow your own itinerary, you get your skipper’s first-hand knowledge of where to go and what to do.

yacht week guide

You can dine onboard or ashore , soak up the sun on secluded beaches, and of course, swim. Come at nighttime, and join your fellow adventurers at organized parties on the beach and in clubs. Or, simply star gaze on deck before drifting off to sleep.

Yacht Week’s brief history

The Yacht Week got its start nearly two decades ago. Directors and founders Eric Biorklund and William Wenckel worked for the same company as charter-boat captains in Europe when inspiration struck. A two-week period in Greece was so much fun that they became fast friends with their guests. Figuring they could replicate the success, they reserved 10 yachts for traveling together for a subsequent summer in anticipation of attracting 100 guests. It worked. They then added another five yachts to that total, which also filled up. Guests had so much fun, in fact, that they requested Biorklund and Wenckel arrange more trips. Soon the duo had more cruisers than staterooms available. So, they turned it into a dedicated business, and The Yacht Week was born.

With another business partner onboard, Biorklund and Wenckel set their sights on growing The Yacht Week internationally. That, too, worked. The company went from booking 30 boats in 2006 to more than 1,300 within a decade.

Experiences you’ve never had before

Yacht Week Experience

The Yacht Week is more than just skippered boats; the goal is to provide you with experiences you’ve never had before! For example, if you’re into techno, house music, and similar styles, the Croatia Ultra Route dates in July coincide with the Ultra Europe EDM festival. Pro Tip: Your yacht package includes VIP tickets.

While music is a big part of The Yacht Week—and cruising in general—other itineraries are more about the destinations and camaraderie.

From May through September, for instance, trips depart from Athens, Greece, and head to a number of islands. To ensure you get to know your fellow cruisers, a raft-up (anchoring your boat side by side) kicks off the first day.

Each day for the rest of the week, you can explore ancient sites and towns with guides on foot or drive an ATV through the countryside. Fun costume parties, White Parties (where you wear all white), and more occur each day, too.

To cap off the summer in style, book one of two available weeks (at presstime) in Turkey in September. You’ll enjoy the country’s famed Turquoise Coast, along its southwestern shore, starting out in Fethiye. When you go sightseeing, don’t miss the chance to partake in a Turkish bath. You’ll emerge with your skin feeling invigorated and an amazing story to share.

Pro Tip: Speaking of sharing, you’ll be sharing picture after picture on social media with your friends and family back home. The Yacht Week also has professional photographers and videographers on hand during each itinerary to ensure the best moments get captured.

Get a feel for boating

If you’re curious about how the boat operates, feel free to ask questions. Captains love sharing their knowledge and passion, so you can take a turn at the wheel as well. Plenty of cruisers become friends, too, with their fellow passengers, planning future cruises upon returning home. That’s what ultimately makes The Yacht Week a week to remember for a lifetime.

Arrival in Dubrovnik

Welcome to Croatia! Upon our arrival in "The Pearl of the Adriatic”, you will be greeted by an attendant who will whisk you off to our Luxurious Megayacht to commence a week filled with indulgences and excitement! After some relaxation, tour Dubrovnik’s Old Town where your guide will point out scene locations and share interesting details about the characters and events from the Game of Thrones series. Upon your return to the vessel, you will enjoy EBST's Signature Meet-and-Greet reception and a delightful dinner.

Korčula (Wine Tasting)

We'll set sail early morning for the island of Korčula. Along the way, the cruising vessel will come to a halt to allow guests to experience the first of several refreshing swim stops on The Adriatic. Korčula, "Little Dubrovnik” which is said to be the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo, has a medieval atmosphere unlike any other in Croatia. Appreciate this ancient setting and garner a sense of nostalgia meandering through its winding streets. Indulge with an evening tasting of local delicacies and wines.

Blue Cave & Hvar

En route to the cosmopolitan island of Hvar, we’ll enjoy another swim-stop before arriving at the island Biševo to marvel at the stunning natural phenomenon, the Blue Cave, which is known for its indescribable silver-blue light that radiates from within the grotto. After this enchanting experience, we'll continue our journey towards Hvar where you will be awestruck by the island's savoir faire and stylish vibe.

Hvar ( Karaoke Challenge)

A full day to I ndulge ! Shop, sightsee and savor some of Croatia’s finest cuisine; discover why this small island is considered the "St. Tropez of Croatia”. Use this day to relax and sunbathe aboard the yacht or traverse the city at your own pace. After sunset, partake in an exquisite dinner with the captain aboard the yacht then sing to your heart’s desire at EBST’s Signature Karaoke Challenge .

Bol (Golden Horn)

We'll set sail towards the island of Brač to unwind on Croatia's renowned beach, dubbed the "Golden Horn", Zlatni Rat. This long, sandy, and pebbly stretch of land near the town of Bol, protrudes over 500m out into the Adriatic Sea and changes shape with the direction of the wind. After lunch, peruse the islands at your leisure. Our day will conclude with an exciting evening out on the town.

Split (Beach Club)

After some relaxation at one of Croatia’s most exclusive beach clubs, tour this 1700-year-old town’s preeminent site, Diocletian's Palace, an ancient palace built for the Roman emperor Diocletian in the fourth century. This monumental structure forms half of the old town. Today the remains of the palace are part of the historic core of Split which in 1979 was listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Zadar (Farewell Dinner & Party)

Cruise along Croatia’s scenic coastline and enjoy your final swim stop before an early afternoon arrival in Zadar. Sightsee around the historic center where you will uncover the 16th-century walls built by the Venetians, Port Gate, St. Donat’s Church, and the 1st century Roman Forum. Close the day by reflecting on the experience and fellowship with newly formed friends during a sumptuous farewell dinner at EBST’s Signature Farewell Extravaganza!

A look at the most expensive superyachts at the Palm Beach yacht show and their insane features, from basketball courts on deck to ice baths and saunas

  • The Palm Beach International Boat Show kicks off later this week.
  • Eight megayachts are expected to be on display for would-be buyers and charter customers.
  • These are the show's biggest yachts — and how many millions of dollars they are going for.

Insider Today

The Palm Beach International Boat Show — the yacht world's flashiest event stateside — is returning this year with over 800 boats for both deep-pocketed potential owners and window shoppers to peruse.

While it's impossible to know what exactly will be on display until the show begins on Thursday, it's expected that eight megayachts — generally defined as ships over 60 meters long — will be docked at the show and at nearby marinas like the Rybovich Marina in the ritzy Florida town.

Some of these are for sale at eye-popping prices, but others are available to charter in case you fancy living like a billionaire for a week or two this summer (and if you have six figures to spare on a vacation).

These are the eight biggest yachts that will be at the Palm Beach International Boat Show and nearby marinas, in size order.

Nero: 90.1 meters

Price: From $497,000 a week (charter) Standout features: Pizza ovens, beauty salon, massage room, resistance pool

Reportedly owned by Irish billionaire Denis O'Brien, Nero is modeled after J.P. Morgan's 1930s ship , and was built in 2007 and updated in 2021.

She now boasts a gym on her sundeck with multiple cardio machines and a beauty salon, and has an on-board beautician for manicure, pedicure, hair, and massage needs. There's also an upgraded movie theater, two new pizza ovens, and both a pool and a jacuzzi.

For those who want to go overboard, she has more than a dozen toys, including a waterslide, Jet Ski, and flyboard.

Victorious: 85 meters

Price: From $876,600 a week in the summer and $950,000 a week in the winter Standout features: Hammam (Turkish bath), wine cellar, wood-burning fireplace, children's playroom

Victorious brings a party vibe to the yacht show. With a beach club on board, a wine cellar, a cigar clubroom , multiple bars, and a lounge with a piano, the vessel is made for entertaining. Plus, there's a playroom and movie theater to entertain the kids.

For tamer charter clients, Victorious has a suite of wellness features such as a gym, massage room, beauty salon and hammam — perhaps a custom request of her owner, Turkish businessman Vural Ak.

She also boasts a treasure trove of water toys, including Jet Skis, jetsurfs, inflatable kayaks, and scuba equipment.

Casino Royale: 72 meters

Price: TBD Special Features: Infinity pool, helipad, private jacuzzi

Purchased and refitted by car dealer magnate John Staluppi last year, Casino Royale is the latest of his James Bond-inspired yachts (he's also owned an Octopussy and a Skyfall, among others).

Casino Royale has a helipad that turns into a dancefloor, an infinity pool, and a wellness center with a gym and sauna. The owner's cabin has its own deck, which features a private bar and jacuzzi.

However, the boat's price isn't listed, and while she's not necessarily officially for sale, that might change depending on who's prepared to buy, Mr. Bond.

Talisman C: 70.6 meters

Price: $60 million (or from $567,000 a week to charter) Special features: Massage and beauty room, private library

Likely the largest yacht for sale (not just charter) at the show, the Talisman C is a 2011 six-bedroom boat. The owner's cabin comes with an en suite bathroom, dressing room, private library, and crystal chandeliers.

Amenities include a gym, a beauty room, oversized jacuzzi, and a fully equipped bar. Her crew of 19 includes a trained masseuse, and the toy room comes equipped with a wakeboard, eFoil , and WaveRunners.

Joy: 70 meters

Price: From $650,000 a week Special features: Disco club, basketball court, onboard fitness instructor

Superyacht Joy testifies to the fact that owners want as many on-board experiences as they can get.

There's an expansive suite of fitness features, including a basketball court (don't shoot that hoop too hard!), a personal trainer on staff, boxing equipment, and a handful of machines. For post-workout winddowns, there's a spa with a steam room and onboard masseuse. And for entertainment, there's both an outdoor and indoor cinema, and a disco club.

Triumph: 65.4 meters

Price: From $707,600 a week in the summer and $650,000 a week in the winter Special features: Sauna, helipad, banana boat

This 2021 superyacht is named after Triumph motorcycles — a reported favorite of her rumored owner, British businessman Chris Dawson — and even has one on display as an art piece in the upper deck's lounge. The primary suite is 1,400 square feet and has its own study , and there's a sauna, an indoor-outdoor gym, a helipad, and a massage room spread among her six decks.

She boasts an "armada of water toys," including two kinds of Jet Skis, electric water bikes, and a banana boat.

Seanna: 64.5 meters

Price: $54,000,000 (or from $462,000 a week to charter) Special features: marble foyer, movie room, sundeck pool

The recently refurbished Seanna is available for sale and charter.

Her indoor-outdoor gym is on sea level so that passengers can take a dip after a session with the onboard personal trainer. There's also a sundeck pool, a helipad, a two-room massage facility, and, for the more cerebral guests, a library with an electric fireplace.

There are a number of toys on board, including a popular water trampoline and two WaveRunners.

Come Together: 60 meters

Price: $65,000,000 Special Features: DJ and videographer on board, ice bath, sauna

Next-to-new yacht Come Together is looking for a new owner after doing charters during the 2023 season.

The Beatles' influence is evident beyond the yacht's name, with guitars dotting the sky lounge and a crewmember who doubles as a DJ. There's also an outdoor cinema and bar for entertainment and an ice bath and sauna for the day after the party. The owner's suite has a private study and lounge, and each guest cabin has its own ensuite.

The sale includes a number of toys, like Jet Skis, kayaks, and Seabobs.
