Good service -especially Pitter Yachting

The marina has all you need, proximity to grocery stores and restaurants. There are always to few toilets, but they are clean. Had very good experience chartering with Pitter Yachting. Excellent service, very well maintained and equiped boats, wifi on board, friendly and professional staff. For four years chartering every year once or twice. Every time very satisfied!! highly recommended! Pick up service from Zadar airport, about half hour drive.

We rented a boat from Euronautic. The Hanse 430 had many shortcomings: very stretched sails, worn halyard, faulty electric starter. After 3 days we finished on a towing line, because of the starter that died completely. We had to pay the towing (150 EURs) + the company charged us with 700 EURs for the demaged starter. They base manager did not realy help us, he only searched the reasons for retaining 700 EURs of our deposit.

10 days ago we rented a sailing boat from Euronautic and were supposed to leave from Marina Kornati. Our contract said that we can take over the boat on Saturday from 5 P.M. However, our boat was not ready (it took ages for the staff to prepare the documents) and we embarked it only at 7 P.M. As we were supposed to return the boat next Saturday till 9 P.M. (!!), one day of our cruise was actually lost. Because of strong wind we returned the boat one week later at exactly 9:20 and had to pay additional 250 kn (cca. 35 euro)! When we claimed that a delay of 20 minutes is nothing compared to 2 hours delay because of their mistake, the staff became very unfriendly and started to convince us that our boat was ready at 1 P.M. (which is impossible because our skipper was the whole day in the marina). When we paid the 35 euros (which is nothing compared to the overall price of the sailing), they refused to give us the book of complaints (which is illegal). Only after threatening with a claim we got the book. Additionally, when we started our cruise our water tank was empty, as well as the fuel tank for our dingy (literally nothing was in there, which proved to be very inconvenient when we tried to reach the coast by strong wind). The Marina itself is clean, but the parking can be a real problem

Marina (Kornati) Biograd na Moru, aprox. 850 fully equipped mooring-s, max. boat length 23m. Entry width 40m, depth 6.5m. “In situ” assistance, max. width lift 7m. Crane, max. capacity 10t. They claim 70 “dry” spaces… but it is not quite so… 20 is… in my (unprofessional!) view more of a real data. The Marina KBNM is located aprox. 40min. drive N/NW-wise from Split international, well organized, airport. My experience over the past four years here is generally very positive. Unlike many other Marinas around the world… (I was utterly disappointed at lack of cleanliness and organization at some worlds “top notch” Marinas like… for example… fancy Kona Kai Marina in San Diego… and many.... MANY.... others!)… the amenities at Biograd Marina (Kornati) are extraordinary clean and looked after, sufficiently staffed and fittingly “stocked”… well equipped and efficient even at the high peaks of “events”, like our regatta. It holds true that our regatta is the “sailing-season” opening event, hence the affluence of “tourist sailing” is quite low… but we do “fill up” quite some docks in the Marina Kornati… so I would reasonably expect that at high season peaks their “modus operandi” should run just as efficiently. Yes… at times bathrooms and showers do get crowded but I challenge any marina amenities not getting “crowded” when at the end of the race 200-300 persons stream in… all… at more or less the same time… ☺ There was always an unpleasant issue with the Marina pay-parking. The staff is often on “be right back” sign… (without the sign!). When I needed my car, that I prefer to park inside the Marina Private Parking area, there was always a hassle with documents, getting out… and then back in… I could never really figure out what their working schedule is… however, I learned to get along without the car for those days… everything you need (restaurants, shops, bars) is/are all in the walking distance from your boat anyway. If you make the easy stroll down the lovely coast-town part of the pleasure of being here… you will be just fine. However, wish you… there is plenty of “free parking” spots just outside… near the "Islands Ferry" Port. The inner Marina coast line is bordered with small cozy coffee shops… with plenty of shade and cheerful owners… idle-hour lovely spot. (Illi espresso served!) The Marina Restaurant (holds up to aprox. comfortably… say… 300 guests) serves fair quality food… but say… average. Fresh… yet nothing outstanding. No great wines available. Service also can be quite slow… but we made friends with jolly waiters and sweet waitresses… and had no problem with it. Tips do not help to speed up the service… but you are on a brake… and have time. No? However… it is spotlessly clean, in general well organized, nothing plush…. do not expect “exclusive club Marina".... It is well equipped... and somewhat.... homey. :) If you are not attending an event so that dining here is compulsory… I do suggest you look around… several excellent fish restaurants and small pizzerias are just minutes walk away. Plenty to choose from and impossible not to find the perfect option for your gourmet and ambience preferences. Evenings… or better… late night… the “Carpe Morem” with good music and fantastic cocktails, local drinks and speed service…. in good company… is compulsory… ☺ Be careful with the AT-machine at the Marina entrance… most of the time is “eating up” credit cards (hassle getting them back!) Bank AT-machine is only 300m away… Much safer option. Marina hosts several Boat Charter companies (aprox. 12). All with good reputation and good service. Not my personal experience… I am on a proprietary boat… but chatting with guests… general feel is…. satisfaction. Bare boats, as well as related services. Again… not my personal experience… so cannot accurately evaluate. The information however, that Charter Companies started up small, with a boat or two… but now they charter up to 40-60… mainly their own vessels… to international clientele…(various Elan-s, Sun Odyssey-s, Beneteaou-s and Bavaria-s) gives me a good indication of the quality of their service . ☺ In overall… I have always had fantastic time here… and none of the above mentioned potentially negative issues ever really turned into a tangible problem. Place is gorgeous… sun, sea and sailing is fantastic in this picturesque frisky coastal part of our lovely Planet. Best periods, in my experience, are late spring and early fall…. Summer for me gets too crowded and too hot… but it is all really up to one’s personal preference. ☺ Enjoy!

The windy Russian autumn weather might be a little bit tricky for sailing, but it doesn’t stop brave yachtsmen from all over the world from flocking to Russian capital in the beginning of September when the Moscow Yacht Show commences. The main Russian Yacht exhibition gathers professional and amateur yacht lovers together under the wing of The Royal Yacht Club.

This year it took place for a fourth time already. The exhibition is considered the principal event on the sporting and social calendar. The Moscow Yacht Show 2010 united in one area three of the largest Russian yachts distributors: Ultramarine, Nordmarine and Premium Yachts.

A wide range of yachts were on display for a week. An exhibition showcased yachts both from Russian manufacturers and world famous brands: Azimut, Princess, Ferretti, Pershing, Riviera, Doral, Linssen, etc.

It was a real feast for seafarers as visitors of the show had a unique chance not only to take a look at the newest superyachts before they hit the market, but also to evaluate their driving advantages during the test drive. The show provided an excellent opportunity for yacht enthusiasts to choose and buy a new boat for the next season.

The event started with the grandiose gala evening. It included grand dinner, the concert and professional awards ceremony for achievements in Russian yachting industry. The guests also enjoyed the annual regatta.

Special guest Paolo Vitelli, Azimut Benetti Group president, opened the evening.

Next year organizers assured guests they would bring more yachts, the scale of which will even make oligarch Roman Abramovich envious. Sounds very promising indeed.
