Antonia Lofaso is an American chef, television personality, and cookbook author who is best known for being the ex-girlfriend of a famous recording artist, Heavy D.

She was born to a Sicilian-Italian father and Jewish mother in Northridge Los Angeles on the 23 rd of November 1976. A young Antonia was always fascinated about cooking from a young age.

Hence, this led her to pursue training at New York City’s French Culinary Institute after graduating from high school.

Indeed, Antonia was always interested in specializing in French culinary. As a result, she appears on the television to share her knowledge on her field of expertise.

As weeks are winding down on Food Network’s six-week series "Beachside Brawl," Pensacola chef Edward "Ed" Lordman has secured himself a place in the finale episode airing July 24.

Chefs from all over the United States are competing in Redondo Beach, California for a $25,000 beach vacation and bragging rights of being crowned "Best of the Beach." Teams are divided up by East vs. West Coast for challenges, however, only one chef will take home the prize.

In an over the top, yacht-themed episode Sunday, Lordman had to cook to impress Beachside Brawl host Antonia Lofaso and executive yacht chef Ben Robinson.

“This is the first time in the past five weeks that I can really see myself winning this,” Lordman said on the show.

For the first challenge, chefs from each coast had to work together to create a luxury, high-end brunch in only 30 minutes while incorporating “shelf-stable” ingredients.

Out of the choices provided, Lordman decided to repurpose a can of black beans into an eggs benedict with sautéed creole shrimp and a black bean puree.

Despite praise from the judges, the West Coast won the group challenge, leaving one East Coast chef vulnerable to elimination.

In a survival round, chefs were tasked with making a romantic meal for the judges using only eight ingredients.

Lordman opted to work with scallops, fennel, parsley, beets, shallots, garlic, blood orange and lemon.

“I don’t think anything says sexy, yacht, high-end, romantic (more) than scallops,” Lordman said. 

The message seemed to come off loud and clear to judges, who praised Lordman’s eye-capturing splash of vibrant red beet puree smeared across the plate.

“Chef, looking at the plate makes me feel romantic,” Lofaso said. “The color red we actually think of as romantic…and honestly, the protein scallop feels romantic. There’s this, like, decadence to it.”

On Sunday, June 19 at 10 p.m. ET/PT Antonia Lofaso challenges the foremost cooks from both coasts in the ultimate battle to determine which coast does summer food best on Beachside Brawl on Food Network and discovery+ . Acclaimed East Coast chef Tiffani Faison and elite West Coast chef Brooke Williamson lead teams of four cooks in this beachside showdown. Both captains will mentor and cook alongside their teams throughout the competition with one goal – prove that their coast does it best. One team member will be crowned Best of the Beach and win a dream beach getaway worth up to $25,000.

Tiffani Faison will lead the team of talented East Coast chefs, including Jared Brown (Long Branch, NJ), Edward Lordman (Pensacola, FL), Ben Porter (Cape Cod, MA), and Jada Vidal (Tampa Bay, FL). Brooke Williamson will guide the accomplished chefs of the West Coast, including Kaleena Bliss (Seattle, WA), Brian Madayag (Edmonds, WA), Joshua Mazoukes (San Diego, CA), and Jessica Roy (Newport Beach, CA).

On the premiere, Antonia challenges the teams to create a menu of boardwalk stand dishes that represents their coast to be served to beachgoers. The menu must include an item on a stick, a fried item, as well as something in a bun, something cheesy, and something sweet. Throughout the six-week competition the teams will be tested in summer-themed showdowns from seafood banquets on a budget to tropical destination dinners, and from million-dollar yacht meals to boardwalk bake sales. Joining Antonia each week will be a rotating guest judge, including Stephanie Boswell , Noah Cappe , Tim Hollingsworth , Rashida Holmes , Sabin Lomac , Jeremy McBryde , and Ben Robinson to help determine the winner. Only one will be able to take the heat and win bragging rights and the ultimate beach getaway.

Beachside brawl: everything to know about food network’s new show.

With Beachside Brawl, the Food Network is serving up some summer fun. The new show features host Antonia Lofaso and a couple of mentors.

Food Network is cooking up some summertime fun with its new series,  Beachside Brawl , and it's time to share some interesting facts about the new show. It's an East Coast versus West Coast battle, as the best cooks from each region attempt to prove which coast makes the best summer food. Hosted by Antonia Lofaso, the series features renowned East Coast chef Tiffani Faison, and acclaimed West Coast chef, Brooke Williamson. During the beachside competition, the women choose and lead teams featuring four cooks.

Antonia, the host of Beachside Brawl,  is the perfect chef to take the lead on the show. Jane Latman, who is the President, Home & Food Content and Streaming, for Warner Bros. Discovery, has gushed about the host. She says that Antonia brings culinary experience, along with connections to both coasts. In Jane's opinion, this makes her an ideal fit for a coast to coast battle in a beach setting.   As team captains, Tiffani and Brooke will mentor and cook alongside their team members, to try and show that their coast cooks the best summer eats.

The Food Network is known for its exciting and entertaining culinary competition shows. This series features three of the most legendary chefs in the business. As the summertime competition on  Beachside Brawl  heats up, here is everything to know about the onscreen action.

The Host - Antonia Lofaso

Antonia began her television career in 2008, as a contestant on  Top Chef season 4, during which she placed fourth. She then returned in 2010 for  Top Chef: All-Stars , placing 3rd. She has also appeared as a judge on  Cutthroat Kitchen,   Guy's Grocery Games , and  Guy's Chance of a Lifetime . Most recently, she was the head judge on  The Julia Child Challenge.

According to Food Network , Antonia feels that she is uniquely qualified to host Beachside Brawl. She said, "With my strong connection to both coasts — being born on the east and growing up on the west — I’m so thrilled to oversee this competition as my two talented friends, Tiffani Faison and Brooke Williamson brawl on the beach to prove their coast is best."

The Mentors - Tiffani Faison & Brooke Williamson

A talented chef, Tiffani first rose to television fame when she was the runner-up of  Top Chef season 1. She has since participated in many other competitions for the franchise. She has served as a judge and competed on many editions of  Chopped . Tiffani's most recent accomplishment was winning the prestigious  Tournament of Champions 3 , defeating Brooke in the finale. Based in Boston, Tiffani will represent the East Coast on  Beachside Brawl. In the promo, she described the East as a beast.

Brooke is an accomplished chef who won  Top Chef  season 14 and the first  Tournament of Champions, besting some of the most legendary chefs in the business. She was the runner-up of Top Chef  season 10, and the runner-up of the second and third  Tournament of Champions . She is currently a judge on BBQ Brawl . Brooke was born and raised in Los Angeles, and will represent the West Coast on  Beachside Brawl. Of course, she think that the West is going to win.

The Competitors

The Food Network's summer show  Beachside Brawl features two teams. As the East Coast team captain, Tiffani will lead her contestants, including Jared Brown (Long Branch, NJ), Edward Lordman (Pensacola, FL), Ben Porter (Cape Cod, MA), and Jada Vidal (Tampa Bay, FL). Brooke will serve as team captain for the West Coast cooks, including Kaleena Bliss (Seattle, WA), Brian Madayag (Edmonds, WA), Joshua Mouzakes (San Diego, CA), and Jessica Roy (Newport Beach, CA).

The Competition

Tiffani and Brooke will each lead teams of four cooks on  Beachside Brawl during the six-week competition, mentoring them and cooking alongside them. On the series premiere, Antonia challenges the teams to create a menu of dishes representing their coast, which could be found at boardwalk stands and served to beachgoers. They must include food served on a stick, food served in a bun, and fried, cheesy, and sweet items. Throughout the rest of the  Beachside Brawl  season on Food Network, the competitions will include a seafood banquet on a budget, a tropical destination dinner, a "million-dollar" yacht meal, and a boardwalk bake sale.

Rotating guest judges will join Antonia each week to help determine the winner. They include Stephanie Boswell, Noah Cappe, Tim Hollingsworth, Rashida Holmes, Sabin Lomac, Jeremy McBryde, and Ben Robinson.

Beachside Brawl  premieres Sunday, June 19 at 10 p.m. ET. on Food Network, and will be available to stream on Discovery+. It is sure to be an exciting competition, as  Tournament of Champions winners Tiffani and Brooke once again go head-to-head. Host Antonia will oversee all of the action. Filled with fun, the show will make viewers' mouths water for summertime food.  Beachside Brawl may be well worth a watch.

Antonia Lofaso, a renowned celebrity chef, had to go through the loss of her husband’s death in 2011. The saddening demise of her husband, Heavy D, left her responsible for looking after her and Heavy D’s daughter, Xea Myers, as a single parent.

As the Guardian reported , the Jamaican-born rapper died of pulmonary embolism, which causes blockage in the lung’s pulmonary arteries. 

He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after he collapsed in front of his home in California. But, his condition had significantly worsened while at the hospital, and he took his last breath in the hospital bed. 

Several recognized artists such as Jay-Z, Will Smith, Usher, and many more attended his funeral. Saddened by his death, many artists flooded Twitter with heavyhearted condolences on his demise.

Lofaso’s Life After her Husband’s Death And Raising Her Daughter

With the rapper’s death, Lofaso’s life flipped upside down with the challenge of raising their daughter all by herself. The two had a daughter, Xea Myers, in 2000. 

The chef prioritized her child and career and did not remarry. Lofaso handled the loss with strength and did everything she could to give her daughter a fulfilling life, and at the same time managed to achieve milestones in her career.

Despite being a daughter of celebrity parents, Xea has been out of the limelight and maintained her privacy. However, she is present on her social media, where she shares her casual pictures and often shows how much she misses her father through her Instagram posts. 

Lofaso’s Passion For Culinary and Her Net Worth

Lofaso’s dedication and love for food have been from her young age. Pursuing the path of culinary, she attained New York’s French Culinary Institute. Initially, she got an opportunity to work as a manager at the rapper Sean Comb’s restaurant. 

Moving forward, she became a chef at L.A.’s Spago and Foxtail. Now, Lofaso co-owns restaurants such as Black market liquor bar, Scopa Italian Roots, and DAMA, all situated in L.A.   

The chef made her first television debut in 2008 when she participated in the fourth season of Top Chef, where she landed on the fourth position. She simultaneously appeared in following Top Chef shows and acquired third place in Top Chef: All-stars , and won the title ‘Duel’ in Top Chef Duels .  

Her TV career didn’t end there. The celebrity chef went on to become a judge on Cutthroat Kitchen , a Food Network’s show.  Talking with Diced , the chef said that she got the opportunity to enhance her craft through her TV career, coming across with notable chefs such as Tom Colicchio, Eric Ripert, Anthony Bourdain, and Daniel Boulud.

Motivated to win many hearts through her delicious cuisine, the chef believes in simple food from the heart with elegant execution.

Antonia Lofaso Dishes On Her Relationship With Guy Fieri - Exclusive

When we heard that celebrity chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author  Antonia Lofaso  would be co-hosting LendingTree's "Restaurant Reboot" with Guy Fieri , we knew there had to be an interesting backstory. Certainly, Lofaso, who is the executive chef and owner of three restaurants in Los Angeles and has graced TV screens on "Top Chef," "Chopped," and "Cutthroat Kitchen," is a familiar face to many. But Guy Fieri is in a category all his own. The host of the uber-popular "Diners, Dive-ins and Dives" is a million-watt megastar who recently inked an unprecedented $80 million deal with Food Network .

As it turns out, Lofaso and Fieri have a long history as colleagues as well as a genuine friendship. And that combination is at least partly responsible for having made " Restaurant Reboot " such a magical experience (of course, it didn't hurt that the premise of the TV event was giving away $300,000 in grants to 11 deserving restaurateurs). Their friendship certainly lent a personal touch to Fieri's 2020 documentary, " Restaurant Hustle 2020: All on the Line ," which followed four chefs, including Lofaso, as they handled the realities of the pandemic. During an  exclusive interview with Mashed , Antonia Lofaso gave us the scoop on her relationship with Fieri.

Lofaso and Fieri are friends off-screen too

"Guy and I — we've always worked together," Antonia Lofaso explained. "I've done ' Guy's Grocery Games ' and 'Guy's Ranch,' and we have an incredible working professional relationship as well as a friendship." That includes time spent off-camera with one another's families. "I've spent a lot of time with  [Guy's] wife and his kids, and he spends time with my daughter. ... We like to spend time with each other." 

That connection is how "Restaurant Hustle" came to be. The idea for the documentary began with Guy Fieri innocently FaceTiming Lofaso while shooting promo footage for " Tournament of Champions ." The thing was, Fieri happened to be catching Lofaso at a particularly vulnerable moment during the earliest days of lockdown. "Now mind you, I'm now bagging groceries and we have the bare minimum staff," Lofaso explained. "I just started crying."

Fieri immediately called Lofaso back on a private line to ask what was wrong. She opened up to Fieri about the pain of possibly having to furlough 500 employees at her restaurants. The next day, Fieri set up a phone meeting with Lofaso and Courtney White, president of Food Network,  Maneet Chauhan , Marcus Samuelsson , and Christian Petroni . It was during that meeting that Fieri pitched "Restaurant Hustle," which would follow the chefs as they navigated the uncharted territory of the pandemic. It was greenlit.

If it weren't for the mutual trust and respect that Antonia Lofaso and Guy Fieri share, it's hard to imagine how "Restaurant Hustle" would have happened. It was, after all, bound to be an emotional experience. But according to Lofaso, "Guy kind of saw 15 steps ahead." At first, she questioned how she could participate while struggling to keep her restaurants afloat, but Fieri was able to convince her. "You don't understand how powerful this is going to be for the whole world to see this," Lofaso recalled Fieri telling her. "People are going to feel supported, and we're going to raise all this money. And people are going to feel like they're not alone out there." 

And Lofaso is, of course, proud to have been part of the documentary, but also of all the work she and her staff accomplished for the community. "I'm so happy that I trusted [Guy] and did it," Lofaso told Mashed.
