 2-3 hour sunset dinner cruise to Scotland Bay.  

Unlike any restaurants in Chaguaramas, we always leave the dock and cruise to our dinner location in Scotland Bay. Here we drop anchor in the calm water and begin a 3-course  dinner that can be casual or romantic in amazing surroundings. After the dessert course, we again set sail to view the amazing sunsets of which the islands are known.

Spectrum is a fully air-conditioned 48-foot Italian yacht. Entering through a sliding glass door, a cherry entertainment cabinet is to port in the salon and a circular settee set around a cherry dining table is opposite. Of course, there are modern washroom facilities with luxury finishes. 

Grilled Lobster

We offer 3 options for our sunset cruises for couples or up to 4 persons.

Option one is a. * 2- hour * full dinner cruise that includes the standard menu for a 3-course meal, The cost for this is TT$3800. 

Option two is a *2 and 1/2-hour* full dinner cruise, this also includes the standard menu for TT$4500. 

Option three is a * 3 -hour* Premium d

Option three is a * 3 -hour* Premium dinner cruise and this includes entrees from our premium menu. The cost for this is TT$5050.

Our house Italian wines premium alcohol and other beverages are included in all the above options

Sep 2020 Ian & Caroline are such wonderful people! I highly recommend their service. Five stars for hospitality; They were very thoughtful and put in the extra effort to ensure our comfort. Lovely wine & food. Very relaxing and breathtaking atmosphere. Even had a bit of fun as dolphins swam alongside. It's an ideal way to spend an evening instead of the typical restaurant dinners/drinks. This was for my husband's birthday and he absolutely loved it. Also, this was during covid-lockdown restrictions - I am very grateful we had this option so my husband did not have a 'lockdown birthday'; We are very disciplined with covid-precautions and I can definitely assure persons concerned about COVID safety - 100%, Ian & Caroline took proper precautions and this is a Covid-SAFE environment - such fresh, clean air. It's great to be on the water. It is a great choice for doing something fun & special, particularly during the next few months of limited socializing options or even when restrictions get back to normal - if you're uncertain whether to choose this or not - I would say to look no further - plan with Ian & Caroline for your next special occasion.

S/v purpose.

Purpose is our very elegant Fountaine Pajot Saba 50 catamaran navigating the Caribbean waters. This very spacious luxury yacht captures, through its design, much of the natural light allowing it to flow through the salon, galley and cabins. The minute you step aboard, you will be amazed at the space allocated to relaxation and enjoyment. The open plan of the salon and cockpit area will give a definite feeling of conviviality when sharing special moments with friends or family. The sliding window next to the sink means meals can be passed directly from the galley to the cockpit, which is ideal as most of the dining aboard Purpose takes place al fresco.

Stepping up to the flybridge, you will get a panoramic, breezy, bird’s eye view of the seascape and with an open-air lounge area located next to the helm, you can also be wonderfully entertained by adventurous stories from your captain when under sail. When at anchor, the sunbathing lounge on the foredeck offers a great, shady, comfortable spot to spend relaxing moments.

Purpose is the Quintet version of the Saba 50 and offers three guest cabins in the port hull and two to starboard. The sixth cabin, a middle starboard cabin, is reserved for the crew. All cabins are en-suite.

A wide glass door separates the outside from the inside, but the two are on the same level so it’s easy to move from the exterior to the interior. Natural light floods through overhead hatches and large windows that you can see out of even when seated.

S/V Olivia Charles

Olivia Charles (formerly Pink Sky ) is a Fountaine Pajot Ipanema 58 that offers her guests an amazing combination of design and comfort through the maximisation of both interior and exterior living space.

The minute you step into the cockpit, guests will notice the smooth and effortless manner in which the indoor and outdoor living comes together.  From the dining area fringed by sheltered daybeds and lounge couches ideal for relaxing one moves through to the salon with a seating space set adjacent to a highly functional, top-of-the-line galley.

Slipping down into the hulls, on the port side you will find the Owner’s Suite. With a very spacious area with a small workspace, sitting couch and ensuite bathroom you will find that this cabin lacks nothing. The other 3 cabins are all double cabins are beautiful. These accommodations have proven themselves to be and has earned the reputation of having redefined contemporary luxury.

Back on deck, you will find an exquisite retreat with panoramic views of the anchorage and a dual lounging seats, an area where guests find themselves when in search of a bit of tranquility.

Beautiful honeymoon

My Husband and I went on our honeymoon in Trinidad and our Hotel concierge recommended Islandexperiencestt for guaranteed fun. Let me just say this was the best recommendation ever! We opted for a boat cruise with captain Tano! The scenery was too good to be true, we listen to some good soca music, we had snacks... everything was perfect! I strongly recommend!

Down d islands charter

We had chartered a yacht for 5 hrs to go down the islands and it was absolutely amazing. We had the best time and tano worked with us to organize everything to fit to suit our needs. He even gave us our full 5 hrs even though we were over an hr late. The prices are great and he made sure that everyone was having a good time. He also had a stand up paddle board and floating chair. I would definitely recommend this charter for anyone going to trinidad.

Gaspree Cave and islands tours

I just wanna say it was the best tour I've ever went on.. Great pleasure sailing with the Finesse. Smooth sailing and the captain was very very attentive at all times. He ensured that everyone was fine and even bought drinks,snacks and food for us. This trip was EPIC. If anyone decide on taking a trip down d islands, charter the Finesse, you all would enjoy it. Discovering Chaguaramas

The first priority for Cruisers arriving in Trinidad is to get settled into Chaguaramas. Once in your marina or anchorage, most things can be reached by walking. A bit of a longer walk if you are at TTSA.

Lay of the Land and Where to Find Things

Places to shop and to eat, activities within chaguaramas or nearby, water quality in chaguaramas bay, where to find additional information.

Chaguaramas is the heart of the cruising community in Trinidad.

The yards and marinas are clustered around the east end of Chaguaramas Bay and most front on the Western Main Road leading to Port of Spain. Crew's Inn is just around the east end on the south shore and TTSA (Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association) is just down the road to the east. All are within easy walking distance of all the various marine stores or chandeliers. It is a bit of a longer walk from TTSA, but doable (a bike helps). The table on (Services Table) provides a handy list of where to find things.

Places to find boat parts and supplies are covered separately

With the lifting of Covid restrictions most resturants and food vendors have returned to normal opperations.

Please comply with mask requirements and keep your distance.

Some resturants and other businesses have sadly closed for good due to covid - we are in the process of updating our listings.

Chaguaramas has limited shopping available for things that are not boat related. There is one small grocery, located at Power Boats (near the water). For shopping beyond this limited store, most cruisers venture either to Glencoe (Massy Grocery and Drug store), West Mall (the closest mall - just east along the Western Main Road), to Port of Spain, or take one of the shopping trips arranged by Jesse.

Restaurants and Places to Eat

Most of these activities have been curtailed due to Covid restructions and low cruiser population. We hope that some if not all will return soon.

Many cruisers focus on getting their boat work done, but there is still room in the day for social gatherings. For ideas of what to do outside of Chaguaramas, look here. For local options, consider some of the following:

Weekly Music Jams - A group gets together once a week to play, sing or just sit back and enjoy. Currently meets at the Roti Hut in Powerboats on Friday nights.

Pot Luck BBQ s.- A long time staple of the cruising community. They occur at most of the marinas, who provide facilities for the use. There is a long-running one at Powerboats on Thursday Nights.

Walks or Hikes - Local hikes are possible, either along the road in front of the marinas or a longer hike to the bamboo forest.

Water Aerobics - They are often arranged in one of the local pools. Announced on the net.

Cricket - Informal matches are set up from time to time.

Swimming or Liming with the locals - Scotland bay and other bays to the west of Chaguaramas are quite popular with Trini's on weekends. They allow a pleasant change from being tied up in the marina or a mooring.

Dominoes- Another activity often part of the cruising community. They meet every Sunday afternoon.

One of the often sited reasons for people not to go to Trinidad is the quality of the water in and around the marinas. They say that the water is dirty and they cannot swim. Chaguaramas Bay and the surrounding section of the Gulf of Paria is a commercial port. It serves as a port for much of Trinidad's fleet of oilfield supply vessels and other support ships. Tankers from the refinery on the west coast of the Gulf of Paria transit the Bocas and there are many oil platforms in production and not in the Gulf of Paria. There is also a local fishing fleet. However, aside from a surface film that occurs from time to time, the water supports a great diversity of marine life. We often see turtles swimming around the boats in the marinas, flocks of pelicans fish in the waters, and you often see schools of fish around the boats.

Every so often oil gets spilled. In the eleven years, I have visited Trinidad (most all of it in the water) I have experienced two spills. There was one four years ago that had a significant impact on cruisers. But, the government of Trinidad and Tobago, YSATT, the marinas, and even the cruisers pitched in and helped clean it up. There was a black band around many waterlines. YSATT provided some bio-safe solvent and we were able to clean the ring off the boats affected.

A few years ago in November (2017) just after the latest spill, I had occasion to take a boat out into the Gulf of Paria. Less than two miles from the marinas I found a pod of dolphins that followed the boat for more than an half an hour.

The net effect is that like any marina world wide, you don’t swim. But, you will find ample place to take your boat or dingy within a few miles that are great places to swim. Scotland Bay is one such place.

Located on the seafront is the Bight Hotel with a shady verandah overlooking the small beach and Chaguaramas Bay. Located on site, the Bight is very convenient if you are busy doing repairs to your boat at Peake and need a quiet and comfortable place to retreat to after a hard day’s work. The restaurant upstairs offers breakfast, lunch and dinner or a great place to have a cold beer and watch the sunset!

The Bight Hotel rooms are double or single occupancy, with two single beds or one double bed, air-conditioning, hot or cold shower, cable TV, WI-FI, and a small refrigerator and electric kettle for your convenience. The rooms are very reasonable at US$93.00 per night if your boat is hauled at Peake, or US$98.00 per night otherwise.
