If you’re an experienced sailor we invite you to use one of our own 22′ sailboats with your cottage rental at no additional charge. there’s no better way to relax and enjoy the keys.

Our 22 foot Catalina or O’Day single-masted sailboats are perfect for cruising the calm waters of Florida Bay. Just grab your cooler, walk to our dock, and point the bow into the horizon. Explore the Florida Keys in style! Leave and return when you like…after all, you don’t want to be tied to any schedule when you’re on vacation.

And if sailing isn’t for you, try our kayaks, canoes, standup paddle boards, rowboats, or even one of the floats we make available to our guests at the dock. The point is: take to the water! It’s the Florida Keys way of life!

Even relatively new sailors can enjoy the Bay on one of our easy-handling day cruisers. It’s great family fun, and a big part of the reason Key Largo Cottages remains so popular with our guests. Find out for yourself!

Note: We mainly rent the cottages with a free sailboat but on a case to case basis we may have an extra sailboat that we can rent out. Many sailing classes offered elsewhere crowd you on a boat with a group of total strangers.

At Florida Keys Sailing ALL of our Sailing Classes, Day Sailing Trips, and Private Charters are exactly that…PRIVATE.

2 DAY BASIC FUNDAMENTALS OF SAILING

Designed for beginners who want the best introduction to the exciting sport of sailing. Students will receive a good understanding of all the “Basic Fundamentals of Sailing”. They will leave as very competent Crew Members.

3 DAY BASIC KEELBOAT “LEARN TO SAIL CLASS”

Beginner students will learn to responsibly be the Skipper of a Day Sailing Keelboat in familiar waters in moderate wind and sea conditions. Classes available are year round on demand based on your travel plans.

5 DAY BASIC COASTAL CRUISING OR 101 & 103

Students will learn to responsibly skipper and crew an auxiliary powered cruising sailboat during daylight hours within sight of land in moderate wind conditions. This Private Live Aboard Class is taught aboard our Catalina 30' or Irwin 34 Offered all year on demand based on your travel plans.

5 DAY BAREBOAT CRUISING OR 103 & 104

Charter a cruising sailboat during daylight hours in most wind and sea conditions. This Private Live Aboard Class is taught aboard our Irwin 34. Offered all year on demand based on your travel plans. 5 Days and 4 Nights…Privately Living aboard at our Dock

3/1 DAY ADVANCED COASTAL CRUISING OR 106

This was my 10th year of staying at KLSC in early March – it continues to be my vacation site of choice – and I’m already in the book or 2016. Great location, amenities and staff. It doesn’t get any better than this.

We had the most wonderful vacation. I want to thank you and your staff. It felt like everyone went out of their way to see our vacation was more then we expected. And it was. If anyone ask me where to go on vacation I only have one answer, “The Key Lime Sailing Club!”

Our fleet is ideally located in the middle of Key Largo and is the closest to the popular John Pennekamp Underwater State Park dive and snorkel Locations and fishing locations . Our experienced staff is ready to advise you on the best cruising itinerary for your watersports adventure of your choice. 3 Hour -Just Sandbar Tour with or without Snorkel Stop  (snorkeling depends on wind/visibility)

• We start with a fun boat ride out to the reef to go Snorkeling. We will try to snorkel at Alligator Reef Lighthouse, Cheeca Rocks, Doughnut hole or Florida Bay (snorkel location may depend on sea conditions and your ability).

After your snorkel stop we will head to Islamorada’s Famous Sandbar, we will spend the remaining time at the Sandbar.

Or spend all your time at the Sandbar!

Just Sandbar tour – Head straight to Sandbar

Just Snorkel tour – Enjoy 2 snorkel locations (If sea/wind conditions allow)

December thru March – water & air temperatures maybe cooler, bring light sweater or jacket. You can rent wetsuits at Keys Dive Shop OR Sea Monkeys Dive Shop, please allow time for this and call them ahead for details. They are both located down street from Resort within a mile

Requirements

Please keep in mind, Snorkeling the Reef requires some Snorkeling Experience and that Snorkeling is a very physical activity and you Must be able to Swim to get in the water. Also, you must be physically able to climb boat ladder in possibly 1 to 3 ft seas. Children Must be accompanied by a legal guardian.

8 WAYS TO SAFER SNORKELING

• If you can’t swim good, don’t snorkel.
• Always snorkel with a buddy.
• If in doubt about your cardiovascular health, don’t go out.
• Choose snorkel devices thoughtfully.
• It may be prudent to wait until several days after arrival by air to attempt a snorkel venture.
• Shortness of breath can be a sign of danger.
• Stay calm, stand up, remove snorkel, get out of water immediately.
• Beware of drifting away, swim back to boat.

• Sunscreen (NO Aerosol, apply before boarding boat)
• BYOB alcoholic beverages or snacks/lunch.
• Cash for Captain Gratuity, always appreciated.

• Life jackets, swim noodles
• Floats/frisbee/football for Sandbar
• Bottled Water
• Ice chest stocked with Ice for your use

We tailor the day to your needs and will do everything we can to accommodate the activities you would like; however, all activities are weather dependent, and may require change if the captain deems so for any reason. Please feel free to call if you have any other questions

• Premium Sound System (Bluetooth, Pandora, Apple Music, Spotify)
• Coolers and Ice (just bring your booze!)
• Snorkel Equipment
• Snacks (chips, dips)
• Soda, juice, water
• Inflatable tubes/rafts/floaty toys
• Tackle/bait (if fishing is selected)
• All you need to bring is sunscreen (reef safe please), towels, alcoholic beverages of your choice, and great attitudes!

We offer chips and dips (if requested at time of booking).

We support our local businesses. We are happy to take you to any of the waterfront restaurants nearby or you have the option to bring food with you. On weekends we may even be able to get food on the sandbar, at a barge restaurant that you can wade up to and order!
