Well it may not be running for a lot of people, but not everyone .

I have 14 games from Steam that I had problems with on Win11, but MGSV - Phantom Pain and Ground Zeros are still running without issues.

My game is up to date - v1.15, build ID - 6239679.

(I never got around to playing Phantom Pain past landing on the oil rig, and haven't finished Ground Zeros, but they are still running).

Of the 14 games I had issues with I was to fix 8 of them by using a noCD fix (Imagine that! A noCD fix for a game from Steam. Strange science...)

I replaced two others with a copy from EPIC when they had them as giveaways.

I even tried it on my 2 of my friends pc win11

Same thing nomatter how much iam clicking it

The game doesnt launch

I switched back to win10 till i finish the game

"I switched back to Win10 till i finished the game"

- That may be the best way to fix the problem, but if you 'upgraded' from Win10 > 11, and still using the original saves\ini files this may

Image

I was going to upgrade, but had a lot of problems with my 12th gen Intel hardware (trying to change from MBR > UEFI) when trying, so

I had to do a clean install of Win11.

Didn't help with my 14 troublesome games though, but I believe most, if not all, were still launching when I first installed Win11,

so a later Win11 version update (22H2 ?) may have broke them.

None of these game do anything but promise to launch and then stop before any sort of screen pops up.

Have the same problem with the original Hitman Agent 47 from GOG too.

Too much hassle to try and reinstall an older version of Win11 just for the five games that are no longer running.

Another possibility is it may have something to do with the hyped up Win11 security, or maybe TPM2 on the cpu side,

but I've disabled every new security feature possible.

Not for everyone, only pirated games. Buy the game, it's the only way to get it to work on WIN11.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Crashing on PC (FIXED)

Artwork of Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain and its fix of crashing by TCG

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, a widely acclaimed stealth-action game, has been inflicting frustration on PC players with its persistent crashing issues. These unexpected crashes not only disrupt gameplay but also dampen the overall experience. As dedicated gamers, we understand the importance of seamless gameplay, which is why we have compiled a list of potential solutions to help PC users overcome this vexing problem. So, arm yourself with patience and read on as we unravel the mysteries behind these crashes and guide you towards a smooth and uninterrupted Metal Gear Solid V experience.

Solution 1: Restart the PC

When you experience crashing on Windows 11 or any bug in MGSVTPP, it’s recommended to start by restarting the computer before attempting any other fixes.

This is because restarting the computer can resolve any temporary errors caused by outdated cookies and cache or conflicts with other software on your system by simply restarting Windows 11/10.

Solution 2: Run the Program as an Administrator (Permanently) PC

When running MGSV on PC, there may be times when you need to give the program administrative privileges in order to access certain features or settings and in our case to get rid of black screen on startup.

One way of doing it is by simply right-clicking on the program and selecting “Run as administrator”, but it may not always be enough, as you may need to grant these privileges permanently in order to avoid constantly having to repeat the process.

Here’s how to run a program as an administrator permanently on Windows:

  • Go to the  folder/Application
  • Right-click  on it
  • A menu will open
  • Select  Properties
  • A new  window  will open
  • Navigate to the “ Compatibility Tab “
  • Under the  Settings heading

Run this program as an adminstrator on Windows 11

  • Check the  box  for this option
  • Click “ Apply “

Now your program successfully  Runs as an Administrator on Windows 11/10 (Permanently)  and you can easily open the program without repeating the steps.

Solution 3: Update MGSV TPP

For critical errors like crashing, publishers release updates for an optimized and smooth gaming experience. It’s wise to check for any update released before troubleshooting other possible issues.

Playing with outdated versions can also lead to technical glitches, compatibility issues, or even missing out on new content. Here’s how to keep any game updated using its dedicated launcher:

Open the Game Launcher and from its settings locate “Update” Options. Either enable automatic updates or do a manual update if there are any. Restart the Launcher and check if you are still facing not opening.

Solution 4: Close Intensive/Unwanted Programs Or Settings

Your game/PC can be set to maximum performance, try running the game on lower settings to consume fewer resources. This can include:

  • A lower resolution(From 4k to 1080p or 1080p to 720p)
  • A lower frame rate (try playing at 60Hz)

If there are too many  programs  running in the background, using too much internet / RAM / Disk  can cause MGSVTPP not opening on  Windows 11 .

Closing unwanted programs will help you eliminate the  black screen issue on your PC as your game would be able to get the required resources from Windows 11/10.

  • Press  Ctrl + Shift + ESC  keys to open  Task Manager
  • Now check which program is using more Resources, usually indicated by a darker background

End Task on Windows 11

Now check if the not opening is solved or not.

Solution 5: Try Enabling/Disabling VPN while playing MGS5

Still running into not loading error on Windows 11/10?

If you’ve got a VPN on, try turning it off to see if it makes a difference. If it’s off, switch it on and check again. But heads up! Don’t jump between too many regions; you don’t want to get blocked.

Remember, the right VPN can be a game-changer.

Solution 6: Add Game Exceptions on Antivirus PC

Sometimes antivirus thinks game files are bad guys and stops them, causing the black screen on startup.

To fix this, tell your antivirus that MGS5TPP files are cool by adding them to the “exceptions” list. This way, you can play without the antivirus messing things up!

Follow the steps below to add an exception on Antivirus (This guide is for Avast, and would be similar for other antiviruses):

  • Launch  Avast  on your PC.
  • Select  Menu  at the top-right corner of Avast.

Settings on Avast antivirus

  • Click  ADD EXCEPTION  and then type the URL you want to add to it.

Add exception on Avast Antivirus

If you are still facing Avast Blocking Websites, continue to the  next  solution.

Solution 7: Check if Windows or Any Driver is Outdated

Sometimes compatibility issues can be a reason for continuous The Phantom Pain shutdown on Windows.

Often, it’s all about the updates. First off, head to your Windows settings and see if there’s an update waiting . While you’re on this updating spree, dive into your device manager and update your Wi-Fi drivers and update graphics drivers making sure they are on the latest versions.

These updates can make a big difference, fixing a lot of errors.

Solution 8: Contact MGS5 Support

Tried everything and that game error’s still bugging you?

As a last resort, head to the Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain’s official website and click ‘Support’ or ‘Contact’. Send them an email, jump into live chat, or post in their official forums.

Share what’s happening and any error messages. Remember to double-check you’re on the official site. Sometimes, reaching out is the best way to get back to gaming!

Stay smart and game on!

Final thoughts

In conclusion, while the crashing issues in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC can be more than a minor annoyance, rest assured that there are various steps you can take to rectify the situation. From simple solutions such as restarting your system and running the game as an administrator to more technical updates like checking for driver compatibility, our guide has covered all the bases. Remember, patience and perseverance will be your allies on the path to successfully resolving these crashes. So, don’t let crashing get in the way of your epic Metal Gear Solid V adventure, and let the stealthy saga unfold as it was meant to be experienced. Happy gaming!

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain - Faults And Fixes

Port whine?

I woke up this morning in a bright new world, a world in which what may be Hideo Kojima's final Metal Gear game [ official site ] is available on PC. It still seems like an impossible dream, that a series that has only sporadically stealthed its way onto our machines should be here day one, the same time as the console launch, so I was expecting something to go wrong. Performance issues due to the port from console to PC? A sudden stepback in visual quality as compared to 'prologue' mission Ground Zeroes ?

Remarkably, The Phantom Pain hasn't gotten its cape into a tangle and seems to be running smoothly while looking devilishly handsome. There are some caveats and snags though, as always.

The most pressing concern, and one that will hopefully be fixed so quickly that I'll feel like a fool for having written about it, relates to CPUs that don't support SSE4.1; that includes the still-common Phenom II series. People with those CPUs are reporting crashes, often at launch. There is a possible fix but the developers are on the case already and reckon they'll have a solution ready later today. Good work.

There seems to be some confusion as to whether all AMD GPUs and CPUs are affected but that's not the case. As far as I can tell, the problem relates directly to SSE4.1 support. If you're not sure whether or not your CPU supports SSE4.1, this might help .

There are also reported problems with borderless fullscreen, ranging from screen tearing to an occasionally visible mouse cursor for those using controllers. Switching to regular fullscreen appears to fix both issues.

I've also seen reports of crashes on Windows 10. Since I've already sold all of my data to the highest bidder , I've been using the new operating system for a couple of weeks now and early tests this morning show that Metal Gear is happy to play along. I suspect there's some crossover with the SSE4.1 issues mentioned above and a statement that MGSV doesn't officially support Win 10 has helped to stir the pot. Presumably, the lack of support is simply a way of saying that full testing hasn't been carried out on Win 10 rather than an admission that there will be any specific problems. I've only booted up and taken a look but everything looks fine here and reports of Win 10 issues seem rare.

In terms of options, audio sliders are the biggest gap. There's currently no way to adjust the levels of music, voice and sound effects separately, which doesn't seem like a big deal until everyone's chatter is drowned out by a trumpet. I play with subtitles anyway (it just seems right in Metal Gear and I couldn't say why) but I can understand the frustration for those who don't.

Some mouse and keyboard controls are fixed, with rebinding unavailable for certain actions. There's no way to switch between 'toggle' and 'hold' for binoculars and scopes either, which is slightly bothersome as I much prefer a toggle for keyboard and to hold a button if I'm using a controller. Here, you're always holding the button down to stay in different viewing modes. On top of that, the game seems to communicate using controller prompts at times even if you're playing with mouse and keyboard. I'd be playing with a controller anyhow - I prefer to in third-person games and the inventory and map interface here is designed for buttons rather than pointing and clicking - but the quibbles with the keyboard controls are still valid.

And if you're planning to push the framerate above 60FPS, you might see some anomalies. The Fox Engine's physics are tied to the framerate, which means the world might become a little unpredictable if everything is running faster than intended. That just makes me want to fiddle with framerates all the more, of course.

Finally, here's a picture of the graphics options. Phwoar.

metal gear solid v the phantom pain windows 11 fix

I'll be looking out for any developments. I'll be doing that instead of playing the game because sometimes this job is not kind to me. The horror of my situation is amplified by the hours I spent with Ground Zeroes on Saturday. It's a proper stealth game and I love it.

METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN

How to fix Phantom Pain errors, crashes, poor performance, Black Screen issue, AMD Phenom crash issue, saved data issue and related problem in Metal Gear Solid V .

Metal Gear Solid V apparently is the last game by Hideo Kojima but Konami has insisted that it won’t be the last in the series. The game has already received almost perfect scores but the PC community already worried about the performance issues on the platform.

MGS 5: Phantom Pain Errors, Crashes, FOV, Black Screen

Although the game is looking stable enough performance wise, there are some issues that are required to be addressed. If you too are looking for a solution to a problem, following troubleshooting listing can serve the purpose of assistance for you.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Inspired Tee : Buy Here!

#1 MGS 5: Phantom Pain Amd Phenom II Launch Issues If you are using Phenom II processor then you might be experiencing some issues in launching the game. Well, the good news is that it’s a known issue (acknowledged by the support team) and they are working on a fix.

All you need to do is wait a little until a hotfix rolls out and then you will be able to play the game normally.

#2 MGS 5: Phantom Pain Startup Crash Fix If your game is crashing on startup and you have overclocked your GPU, you should try resetting it to the factory settings. This seems to have resolve the issue for some users.

#3 Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain Graphics Issues For the weird artifacts and other related graphical glitches, you should make sure that you are using the latest drivers for your GPU. Nvidia has already rolled out drivers optimized for The Phantom Pain so you should install them for better performance.

#4 MGS 5: Phantom Pain Failed to Create Save Data Issue First things first, don’t forget to verify your game files. If that doesn’t work, make sure that you have sufficient free HDD space.

Some users have also reported that deleting the Ground Zeroes saved files have fixed the issue for them. Just make sure that you make a backup before deleting them so that if the problem gets fixed in the future, you can get your related rewards.

#5 MGS 5: Phantom Pain Failed to load mfreadwrite.dll This is a generic error which you can fix by any of these mentioned workarounds . If you are using Windows 8 or higher, you can try out this fix .

#6 MGS 5: Phantom Pain Game has Stopped Working This error could occur due to some software conflict. If you are meeting the minimum system requirements for the game, make sure that you are using the latest GPU drivers.

If that’s not the issue, you should try running the installers (redist) found in the steam folder. Restart your PC and try running the game as admin. Also, verifying the game files could also resolve the issue for you.

#7 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain AMD GPU Crash Fix If you are an AMD user and you have the latest GPU drivers, still you are facing in-game crashes, you should try the following:

  • Motion blur off
  • Camera shake of

#8 MGS 5: The Phantom Pain Server Issues Since the game has just been released, server issues are inevitable so if you encounter any problem in connection, wait a bit an try again later.

#9 MGS 5: The Phantom Pain Laptop Crashes/Low FPS/Poor Performance If your laptop is good enough and you aren’t getting the desired performance or the game is crashing then the game most probably is using integrated GPU instead of the dedicated one.

You can use the GPU control panel to switch graphics and also make sure that your laptop is plugged while you play the game.

#10 Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain FOV Issue Although the feature should have been on the list, the game got released without it so yes, for the time being, there is no official option to change the default FOV.

However, there is hope that modders will be able to fix it soon. If you have cracked the problem yourself, don’t forget to share it with us.

#11 MGS V: The Phantom Pain Black Screen Fix If you are getting black screen with white squares, try increasing your resolution a bit and then restart the game. This should fix the issue for you.

If you are facing any other issues, do share with us in the comments below!

MGS V: The Phantom Pain or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is sadly the last Metal Gear game from Japanese legend Hideo Kojima. It was released on PC and other platforms in 2015. Solid Snake is back and the game is clearly a masterpiece after hearing all the overwhelmingly positive reviews from critics and fans. However, few PC users have reported of some issues they are facing while running the game.

Don’t panic as we are here to help you fix those errors and play the game. Before going further, please make sure your PC meets the official system requirements to run the game. You can check out the specifications provided by Konami to run MGS V: The Phantom Pain.

MGS V: The Phantom Pain Official System Requirements

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit or Windows 8 64-bit or Windows 10 64-bit (64-bit OS Required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-4460 (3.40 GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 (2GB) or better (DirectX 11 card Required)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Hard Drive: 28 GB available space
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card

RECOMMENDED

  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 (3.60GHz) or better; Quad-core or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 (DirectX 11 graphic card required)
  • Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card (Surround Sound 5.1)

#1 Crash/crash to desktop/failed to launch issue in MGS V: The Phantom Pain fix:

If your game is getting crashed during launch, then the sole reason for the issue is outdated video card drivers. Make sure you have the latest version before trying any other workaround. And if your game is crashing while playing, try one of the following fixes.

  • Turn off VSync and Triple Buffering in the game settings
  • You can try to run the game in Windows Vista SP2 or Windows XP SP3 Compatibility mode

#2 Black screen with two white squares issue in MGS V: The Phantom Pain fix:

This issue is mainly faced by users who have desktop resolution 1048×768. To fix this bug, simply change your desktop resolution to something other than 1048×768 (for example 800×600). Then launch the game and change the in-game resolution to the native resolution of your display.

#3 MGS V: The Phantom Pain has stopped working issue:

This is a common issue among users having AMD Phenom processors. You need to update you game version of the latest and the issue will be gone. Other users can follow should try uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and running the game as Administrator.

#4 White/black screen on startup issue fix:

To fix this weird problem, just unplug the USB devices and launch the game again. Also make sure you have Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and DirectX installed.

#5 MGS V: The Phantom Pain aspect ratio issue fix:

By default, MGS V: The Phantom Pain doesn’t allow you to play using 21:9 aspect ratio. But that doesn’t mean you can’t. What you need to do is download and install a third party tool called “Custom Resolution Utility” and go to Nvidia Control Panel and set your custom resolution for the game there.

#6 Blurry Characters issue in MGS V: The Phantom Pain fix:

If you are playing the game on Max settings, you may find Snake looking a bit blurry. You can fix this bug by lowering the Screen Filtering from Very High to High or below.

#7 Low FPS/Lag in MGS V: The Phantom Pain issue fix:

Many users have solved this issue by switching from window mode to fullscreen mode while playing the game. We suggest you to give it a try.

New errors keep surfacing. If you are one of those who is still facing any errors running MGS V: The Phantom Pain, feel free to share your query in the comments. Our team will try our best to fix them. We will keep updating this page with solutions to issues and bugs.

So when I go to launch MGSV TPP it opens a steam window telling me that it is launching and then steam registers that i am in game then not and it cloud syncs the game and the update news comes up I tried to solutions and neither works. 1) I subsribed to the beta and that didn't change anything. 2) I noticed that the system requirements don't list windows 10 as a supported operating system so i went and tried to run it in compatibility mode hoping that would solve the problem. However upon running the program by clicking the exe in my steam folder as opposed to launching it through steam I was greeted with an error message reading "This program can't start because MSVCR110.dll is missing from my computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." So I went and uninstalled the game and reinstalled it and half an hour later hoping the problem would be fixed I launched the game through steam same error downloaded the beta same error launched it from the folder same error. I don't understand how a file can be missing when I JUST INSTALLED THE GAME. I'm posting because I spent all day thinking I couldn't play MGSV, which is truly a fate worse than death.
