Yacht Rock: the name alone feels like something of a contradiction. Rock music, which has satisfied all of our most culturally rebellious instincts ever since Chuck Berry duck-walked across the stage, and yachts, those totems of indulgence filing the harbors of San Tropez and Miami, have scarcely anything in common. Yet in the late 70s and early 80s, like two raptured souls tangled in a passionate fling, like chocolate and peanut butter, these two gave birth to a short-lived yet spirited genre of music. Say it out loud: Yacht Rock. It is the embodiment of a mustachioed, blow-dried era of soft-focused wonder.

No doubt you’ve heard the songs, with their layers of falsetto male voices singing in perfect, shirtless harmony (The Doobie Brothers – “What A Fool Believes,” Christopher Cross – “Ride Like The Wind,” Kenny Loggins – “Heart To Heart,” Toto – “Africa”) and felt the gentle touch of their Aqua Net charms (The Carpenters – “(They Long To Be) Close To You,” Captain and Tennille’s “Love Will Keep Us Together”), but have you ever experienced the genius of these smooth, hit songs in all their brilliant splendor performed live, and all in one place? By way of introduction, we present to you Nashville Yacht Club Band, otherwise simply known as the Nashville Yacht Club. Among the playlist of songs, mostly limited to that 1975-1985 era of Yacht Rock lore, you will hear those smooth, timeless classics come to life as never before, rendered almost completely without irony or jest, in glorious tribute.

Ahoy! The eight members of the Nashville Yacht Club Band are some of the most accomplished players in the charted universe! Comprised almost entirely of former New York City musicians, this 8-piece tribute band can claim among its members over a century of collective experience playing live music all over the world. Co-captaining the lead vocals you’ll find Cody Belew (The Voice) and Brianna Sage (K’naan, Active Child, Carole King) at the helm, ready to deliver those extraordinary songs you know and love, as well as so many timeless male/female duets of the era. Anchoring the band are accomplished bass player Matt Wigton (Christopher Cross, James Otto), and rock steady Ramsey Roustom (Blue Man Group, Colin Hay) on the skins. First mate Jay Barclay (Augustana, The Waterboys, The Damnwells, Ben Kweller) mans all the tides of guitar duty, delivering all those signature lines and searing solos you love to sing along with. Our A.B.S (Able Bodied Sailor), Ryan Link (Rent, Once) is the backbone of our ship; navigating us on percussion, guitar, backing vocals, sax and more. On double keys, the “flung spray and blown spume” of the Nashville Yacht Club are John Pahmer (Carly Simon, Terence Trent D’Arby, Jordin Sparks) and James Farrell (Matt Nathanson, Brett Eldredge). They put all the ripples on the water, bringing those lush 70’s arrangements to life. When it comes to Yacht Rock – trust us – two keyboard players make all the difference.

Nashville Yacht Club Band, aka NYC, is an 8-piece tribute to the pop and r&b sounds of the 1970s & 80s. Dazzling, note-perfect renditions of your favorite smooth party hits. Audiences can expect a unique collection of vintage AM Gold, roller disco classics & timeless dance floor staples performed by some of Music City’s most captivating players and singers!

With a hard-earned reputation as one of the premiere Yacht Rock tribute acts in the US, this vintage dance party troupe travels from sea to shining sea casting a smooth spell on corporate galas, dance parties and tropical destination weddings. Be it a grand casino, nightclub, festival, performing arts center, country club, luxury resort or private backyard, the band’s enthusiastic and expert delivery of these golden hits light up the party. Every time.

Composed almost entirely of former New York City touring musicians now based in Nashville, the group boasts an impressive resume by any standards. The band’s players have traveled all over the world performing with artists and institutions including The Waterboys, Augustana, Blue Man Group, Carly Simon, Adrian Belew, Jennifer Nettles, Terrence Trent D’Arby, Colin Hay, Ben Kweller, Passenger, Jo Dee Messina, Christopher Cross and many, many more. N.Y.C. was featured alongside Pablo Cruise at IEBA 2019 and continues to anchor monthly residencies in some of Nashville’s finest venues, and beyond.

“We’re all (mostly) in our 30s and 40s now, so this is very much a musical love letter to the joyful music playing in the car when we were growing up,” says guitarist and bandleader Jay Barclay. “We’ve carefully curated a perfect mixtape to keep everyone smiling and lost on the dance floor for hours. People feel happy at our shows, and that’s just so great. It’s evocative and nostalgic, for sure, but the songs hold up! We started this band for fun, now it’s the best job in the world.”

Our setlist is loaded front to back with time-tested smash hits designed to keep your dance floor busy and push your party over the top!

You don't need to hear "Brick House" or "Brown Eyed Girl" ever again. Let N.Y.C. make your special day unique and unlike all the others. But, a soft rock wedding band? Really?

We understand "Hey Nineteen" may not be precisely what you had in mind for your father-daughter dance. We really do. While the smooth hits of the 70s & 80s are our specialty, the eight members of N.Y.C. are wedding and show band veterans and will gladly accommodate up to three requests from any era or genre at no additional charge.

And that's not all…

Our singers can MC your event! This includes (and not limited to) all announcements, introductions and recorded music playback. A cocktail hour jazz combo and/or solo piano for your ceremony are happily offered as additional services.

The Skydeck stage is an outdoor venue and is not completely covered. Please consider this along with our No Refund policy when purchasing an outdoor ticket. When severe weather conditions exist in close proximity to Skydeck, we may choose to delay a performance before deciding to cancel or proceed. Umbrellas are not admitted in the venue during concerts. All events are rain or shine.

Approved bags include medical bags, parenting bags, CLEAR 12” x 12” bags, and NON-CLEAR 6.5” x 4.5” bags will be permitted following X-Ray screening. Backpacks of any kind are NOT permitted.

NASHVILLE YACHT CLUB

Welcome to the Nashville Yacht Club. If you enjoy fun boating activities and meeting new friends, you should join NYC this year. Established in 1937, the Nashville Yacht Club is the oldest Yacht Club in the Nashville area. 

The club was established for the purpose of building camaraderie and providing a venue for good cheer amongst boating enthusiasts in the greater Nashville area as well as to encourage recreational facilities for boating and yachting on the Cumberland River, its tributaries, and all inland waterways. In addition, NYC encourages the sport of boating and promotes the science of safe boat handling, seamanship, and navigation.

The club does not enjoy the benefits or burdens of a physical location, rather it acts as central command for Club activities all across Middle Tennessee. NYC welcomes members from all area clubs and marinas. Activities include parties, cruises, anchor-outs, and other social events boaters enjoy.

Nashville bar says missing Mizzou student was served only 1 drink before he disappeared

The University of Missouri student who went missing after being kicked out of a Nashville bar was served only one drink before he was asked to leave country music star Luke Bryan’s bar , the owners said.

Luke’s 32 Bridge + Drink and its owner, TC Restaurant Group, said in a statement that Riley Strain, 22, was served one alcoholic drink and two waters while at the downtown Nashville bar during a trip with his fraternity for a spring formal.

He was last seen on security video  just before 10 p.m. March 8. In the footage, he appears to sway and do a full 360-degree turn before continuing to walk.

Luke’s 32 Bridge + Drink's statement said that “based on our conduct standards,” Strain was escorted out by security at 9:35 p.m. It did not provide details about Strain's alleged behavior before he was removed.

The bar's owners said Strain was escorted out through the Broadway exit at the front of the building. A friend accompanied him down the stairs, according to the statement, but the friend did not leave with Strain, instead returning upstairs to the bar.

Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission communications director Aaron Rummage said earlier this week that the agency was investigating whether Strain was "served alcohol while he was visibly intoxicated."

The bar said in the statement that it "proactively engaged in communication" with TABC and will continue to do so, as well as provide any records necessary to assist in the investigation.

The bar said it had also "provided detailed information" to the Nashville Metro Police Department in an effort to help locate the missing man.

"This information included all security camera footage, photos of Riley at our establishment with detailed time stamps, transaction records, and staff accounts," the statement said.

When Strain left the bar, he told his friends he was going to return to his hotel, his stepfather, Chris Whiteid, told NBC affiliate  WSMV of Nashville . Whiteid said in an interview on " Top Story with Tom Llamas " on Tuesday that Strain never made it back to the hotel.

Security footage released by the MNPD showed Strain crossing 1st Avenue North to Gay Street at 9:47 p.m., which is about 0.7 miles from Luke's 32 Bridge and in the opposite direction of Tempo Hotel, where he and his friends were staying.

Robert Neilsen, a sergeant with Nashville police, said Thursday that that the last video police have of Strain is from 9:52 p.m., when he is seen walking north between the James Robertson Parkway and Woodland Street Bridge. He said that other nearby cameras did not pick up Strain's route and that police were continuing to look for more security cameras they may have missed for more information.

A search mission by ground, air and along the riverbank near where Strain was last seen has been ongoing.

Neilsen said that the department has been using boats with sonar capabilities as well as drones to look for Strain. He said the department is waiting on records from Strain's cellphone and his Apple Watch to determine where he may have gone.

Nielsen said there was no sign of foul play at this point and it was still a missing person investigation.
