The 160-metre yacht BLUE has been given a contemporary exterior and a traditional, fresh interior design, both by Terence Disdale Design. Efficiency and the desire to be as environmentally friendly as possible were key drivers for the technology on board. BLUE is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept developed by Lürssen’s own engineering specialists. The yacht also has an electric Azimuth Pod Drive, which in electric mode can be used separately, or when the PTI units are engaged, with the two propeller shafts. In order to generate less noise and vibration and reduce nitrogen oxide levels, BLUE is completed with a state-of-the-art exhaust after-treatment system. Furthermore, the wastewater treatment plant is equipped with new membrane technology that allows the treated wastewater to be safely disposed of in ‘drinking water quality’.

Due to be delivered in 2023, 160m Project Blue is Lurssen's second-largest superyacht.

After her secretive launch on the 24th February 2022, very little is known about the specifications of, and the designers behind, this incredible German built vessel.

Project Blue is a custom motor yacht with a 21m beam, and an expected gross tonnage of 15,320 GT. Her other specifications are currently unknown.

Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly gifted himself a $300 million megayacht, dubbed “Launchpad,” ahead of his 40th birthday.

The staggering 387-foot-long vessel was seen floating at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., after arriving at its berth earlier this week, The Sun reported Thursday.

The multi-layered luxury ship’s sleek exterior was designed by Espen Øino International and boasts a steel hull and an aluminum superstructure, according to SuperYacht Times.

Reportedly ranking as the 45th largest yacht in the world, the interiors are just as aesthetically pleasing and reportedly executed by Zuretti Interior Design company, a France-based company specializing in unique and custom yacht design.

The breathtakingly beautiful floater stands out with a navy blue theme matching an American flag perched proudly on its wood-paneled stern.

There are several outdoor areas where the social media maven will be able to relax with his family and the indoor levels feature glass paneling allowing for tons of natural light.

There also appears to be a helipad perfect for whenever the Facebook co-founder wants to travel to his vessel by air.

The Feadship-built yacht, built in 2022, can comfortably fit 24 guests aboard, requires a crew of 48, and is said to cost $30 million a year for upkeep and usage, according to Superyachtfan.com .

Boatworld insiders have been buzzing with speculation that Zuckerberg is the owner of the newly minted mega-cruise ever since it made its main voyage from the Netherlands last week.

The tech titan was spotted touring the Russian-commissioned megayacht in early March, though the impressive boat didn’t arrive stateside until this week due to sanctions, according to The Sun.

The website reported that Zuckerberg purchased the pricey yacht – along with its own $30 million partner boat — most likely as an early 40th birthday present to himself.

The boat reportedly traveled to Florida after being granted special permission to be imported just weeks ahead of Zuckerberg’s birthday on May 14.

Zuckerberg’s yacht is just 30 feet shorter than the length of fellow billionaire Jeff Bezos’ 417-foot megayacht Koru, which the Amazon boss snagged for a whopping $500 million.

Zuckerberg’s rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

I realize that Moscow is on the Volga River, which connects to the Caspian Sea, but I’m wondering how foreign vessels can reach it? Or do foreign travel companies just buy a yacht that’s already "in the system"?

From the Caspian Sea, Gary, yachts come up the Volga then on to the Oka River and enter a tributary call the Moskva ("Moscow" in Russian) River. Alternate route is Volga to man-made Moscow Canal (which connects Volga to Moskva River). The big superyachts can’t get into the city limits because the river is only 3 inches deep. Just outside of the city, however, the water is 6 meters deep, perfect for large yachts. Yacht passengers easily travel into the city by limousine. (I imagine thoughts of hovercrafts, etc are a consideration for someday…) James Bond, anyone?

Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault are worth a combined $400 billion — here are the routes they took to achieve mega-wealth

Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault are the world's two richest people, with a combined net worth of around $400 billion.

Arnault, the owner of the luxury goods conglomerate LVMH, is ranked first on Bloomberg's Billionaires Index, with a net worth of $202 billion. He's the CEO and chair of the French luxury conglomerate with companies spanning fashion, jewelry, watches, perfume, and alcohol, including brands Tiffany & Co and Dom Pérignon. Amazon founder Bezos is ranked second on the index, with a net worth of $197 billion. Although both billionaires have built their own empires, how the pair acquired wealth is vastly different. This is how they made their fortunes:

Jeff Bezos’ first job was at a McDonald’s.

The billionaire said in a 2001 interview with Fast Company that his job at a McDonald's restaurant in Miami was "really hard."

"They wouldn't let me anywhere near the customers. This was my acned-teenager stage. They were like, 'Hmm, why don't you work in the back?'" Bezos said.

Bezos majored in computer science at Princeton University.

A book called "The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon" said he joined a telecommunications startup called Fitel after graduating from Princeton. He then quit Fitel and went to work for Bankers Trust as a product manager, where he focused on selling software pension-fund clients. After two years at Bankers Trust, he joined the hedge fund D. E. Shaw, and became a senior vice president after only four years.

He left his hedge fund job in 1994 to start what would become Amazon.

Bezos decided books were the best products to start selling online. He then started Amazon.com in a garage in Seattle. Amazon sold books to people in all 50 US states and more than 45 countries in the first month of its launch.

Amazon went public in 1997.

In March 1997, Amazon had about 80,000 average daily visits , TechCrunch reported. It had only 256 employees that year. In the years that followed, Amazon extended its product range beyond books to include electronics, tools, toys, CDs, and more. Bezos invested $250,000 in Google in 1998, before its IPO in 2004. Time Magazine then named Bezos as its Person of the Year in 1999 after Amazon rapidly grew. Bezos had the same annual base salary of $81,840 for decades while he was CEO, but his annual total compensation for many years exceeded $1 million, owing to costs related to security and business travel.

Bezos founded space tourism company Blue Origin in 2000.

He also bought The Washington Post for $250 million in 2013.

He became the world's richest person for the first time in 2017, briefly overtaking Microsoft's Bill Gates. That same year, he said he'd sell $1 billion worth of Amazon stock annually to fund Blue Origin, per Reuters.

Bezos announced he was stepping down as Amazon’s CEO in 2021

After spending 27 years leading the company, Bezos announced he was transitioning to become Amazon's executive chairman.

Amazon hit nearly $575 billion in net sales in 2023.

The company has hundreds of fulfillment centers around the world. It sells millions of products, including appliances, clothing, groceries, and toiletries, and it also offers cloud computing services. Bezos reportedly owns a $500 million megayacht , which set sail last summer. But in 2022, he pledged to give away most of his wealth to charity, CNN reported at the time. Amazon had a market cap of $1.8 trillion in February.

Arnault started out working for his father's construction company after college.

After studying engineering at the École Polytechnique , Arnault went to work for his father's construction firm Ferret-Savinel, Bloomberg reported .

Arnault acquired Agache-Willot-Boussac in 1984, which was verging on bankruptcy.

The company owned brands like French department store Bon Marché and Christian Dior, The New York Times reported. He renamed the firm Financière Agache and kickstarted a turnaround effort, which helped it earn $1.9 billion in revenue just a few years later, the Times reported . He bought a chunk of capital of the French luxury fashion house Celine in the late 1980s. Years later, it was integrated into the LVMH group .

He went on to become LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s largest shareholder.

Champagne company Dom Pérignon was one of the initial brands part of Moët Hennessy, which later merged with Louis Vuitton to create LVMH in 1987. He spent $2.6 billion buying up shares to become the company's largest shareholder and eventually its chairman and CEO by 1989, per The Times. Arnault quietly built a 20.2% stake in Hermès in the years that followed through its subsidiaries and equity swaps, Bloomberg reported.

His 5 children also work for LVMH and its brands.

In 2011, he acquired the Italian jewelry brand Bulgari when it was struggling, Reuters reported. LVMH now owns more than 75 brands, its website says.

The luxury goods group made €86.2 billion in 2023.

Arnault said in January, when its earnings were released, "Our performance in 2023 illustrates the exceptional appeal of our Maisons and their ability to spark desire despite a year affected by economic and geopolitical challenges." It seems like Arnault has no plans to slow down. He told The Financial Times in 2019, "we're just getting started."

Raumfahrt Japanische Mondsonde sendet nach Mond-Nacht wieder Bilder

Die japanische Mondsonde Slim hat nach ihrer zweiten zweiwöchigen Mond-Nacht neue Bilder zurück zur Erde gesandt. Der Nachricht der japanischen Weltraumbehörde Jaxa war ein Schwarzweissfoto der steinigen Oberfläche eines Kraters beigefügt.

«Wir haben gestern Abend eine Antwort von Slim erhalten, in der bestätigt wird, dass Slim seine zweite Nacht erfolgreich abgeschlossen hat», erklärte die japanische Weltraumbehörde Jaxa am Donnerstag im Onlinedienst X, ehemals Twitter. «Wir haben mit der Navigationskamera unter anderem für kurze Zeit Bilder der üblichen Szenerie aufgenommen», hiess es weiter.

Slim steht für «Smart Lander for Investigating Moon» (Intelligentes Landemodul zur Erforschung des Mondes). Mit der Landung der 2,40 Meter mal 1,70 Meter grossen Sonde auf dem Erdtrabanten war Japan am 20. Januar zur fünften Mondlandenation nach den USA, der Sowjetunion, China und Indien aufgestiegen.

Unglückliche Landung

Die Sonde war allerdings auf der Seite gelandet, so dass ihre Solarpanele nach Westen zeigen statt wie geplant nach oben. Dadurch erhielt das Gerät zunächst nur wenig Sonne und demzufolge wenig Strom. Dennoch gelang es Slim, erste Bilder der Mondoberfläche zur Erde zu funken.

Nach einer kurzen Wachphase von nur zwei Tagen wurde die Sonde bei Einbruch der etwa 14 Erdtage dauernden Mond-Nacht in den Ruhemodus versetzt, da sie nicht für die langen Mond-Nächte mit Temperaturen von bis zu Minus 133 Grad Celsius ausgelegt ist. Nach einer ersten Mondnacht war Slim Ende Februar wieder erfolgreich aufgeweckt worden, bevor die Sonde abermals in den Ruhezustand versetzt wurde.

Die Forschenden hoffen, am Landepunkt der Sonde im Shioli-Krater an Gestein zu gelangen, das normalerweise weit unter der Mondoberfläche verborgen liegt. Dieses Gestein könnte Aufschluss zu möglichen Wasservorkommnissen auf dem Mond liefern.

Apple's WWDC 2024 Event To Be 'Generative AI Launch Party,' Predicts Gene Munster

Deepwater Asset Management’s managing partner  Gene Munster  has made a bold prediction about  Apple Inc.’s AAPL upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference .

What Happened : On Tuesday, Apple announced that its annual developers conference , WWDC 2024 , will be held from June 10 to June 14 this year.

The conference will be streamed live on Apple’s website. However, the tech giant has extended invitations to select software developers to attend a celebratory event in person on the first day.

After this announcement, Munster took to X , formerly Twitter , and said that he believes this event will mark the launch of Apple’s generative AI strategy . “$AAPL just put out their invite for WWDC, starting on June 10. While the press release made no mention of the topic, the event will likely be Apple's generative AI launch party,” Munster said.

Munster anticipates that Apple CEO  Tim Cook  will not delve into AI during the company’s March quarter report; instead, he will direct investors to WWDC. He said that the event could feature Apple’s most significant announcement since 2007, focusing on the evolution of their operating systems.

Deepwater’s managing partner also predicted that Cupertino will follow in the footsteps of  Microsoft Corporation  and  Alphabet Inc.’s Google  by integrating generative AI into its operating system interface.

He also expects Apple to incorporate generative AI into iOS , MacOS , apps, and  Siri and make additional AI announcements for developers, including access to foundation models.

“Apple's AI announcements this year will follow announcements made by Google and Microsoft in May of 2023 related to integrating AI into product interfaces,” Munster said.

He also predicted, “I expect generative AI will be added into iMessage, Mail, Calendar, Notes, Pages, and Numbers,” adding, “As for Siri, I'm optimistic that they will announce an AI powered version that will be available sometime in 2024. Currently, while Siri uses some AI for recommendations, it lacks a generative, conversational experience that catapulted Chat GPT into our lives.”

Why It Matters : Earlier this month, it was reported that Apple was in talks with  Google  to  license Gemini AI models  for future iPhones. Munster previously commented on the report, stating that this deal could position Apple as a leader in personalized AI.

Last month, it was reported that the Cupertino, California-based tech giant has halted its pursuit of the Apple Car and ceased its Electric Vehicle (EV) development initiative known as Titan . According to sources, Apple plans to redirect numerous staff members from EV development to its generative AI division .
