Yes this is a beautiful Charleston gathering place right at the start of the High Battery. Members and guests only to this place where I first began coming around 1987, as a guest only. The food has always been magnificent. Today was no exception, starting with she crab soup in a large cup and a side of sherry. Thickly made with lots of crab blended it. My decision for the main lunch time meal was for CYC Club, with thick well cooked Applewood bacon, smoked turkey in thin slices, lettuce and tomato on wheat bread with an excellent sauce with the consistency of mayonnaise but so much better and a lot more flavorful. The copious amounts of thinner, exactly fried french fries was excellent but could not be finished, as the sandwich filled me up! Find a member and come eat here!
Outdated, sexist rules. Women cannot be members unless they are the widow of a former male member. Club is crusty and dead 90% of the time because of it's outdated rules. There are nights that the club house doesn't allow women in AT ALL They should add an exercise room, allow female members, get a cute coffee shop/wine bar/brunch restaurant and a gym/yoga/exercise room. It would breathe new life into this dying, crusty outdated club.

Staff is very nice, but menu and club need an overhaul. Other than Covid, the club is overpriced and still maintains super outdated sexist practices of not letting women be members unless their a widow of a former member. They need to get with the times, get a cute brunch/wine cafe, yoga studio and let women join. Have cheaper joining fees for members under age 30. All these things would breathe new life into this dying crusty club.
Carolina Open, what a great weekend of sailing on Charleston Harbor. This club puts on a great event, with around 120 boats on 3 courses, including Juniors. I find their race management to be top notch, and the club staff and dock crew are helpful. As challenging as Charleston Harbor is to sail in, this club makes it fun.
