Lürssen

The German name tops the list, having built 11 out of 20 of the world’s largest superyachts in the last two decades. The 145-year-old family shipyard’s largest yacht, Azzam , spans 592 feet, 6 inches. Imagine six football fields laid end to end, with dozens of staterooms and saloons filled with beautiful woodwork, custom furniture, and art, all inside a high-tech hull. That 2013 launch was followed by others like 512-foot Dilbar and this year’s 364-foot Project Tis .

Still owned and managed by the Lürssen family, the company’s ability to consistently produce so many floating masterpieces is directly proportional to its skilled workforce and vast facilities. After recent acquisitions, including the famed Blohm & Voss yard, Lürssen owns eight shipyards across Germany. Its staff, some of the most experienced of any superyacht builder, include 400 designers, 600 engineers, 1,600 skilled workers, and 200 apprentices.

After launching the company in 1875, Friedrich Lürssen declared: “My firm shall be known as a leader in both quality and performance.”

With his name attached to the world’s largest yachts , Friedrich’s words have taken on a greater significance than he could ever have imagined.

Abeking & Rasmussen

Located across the river from Lürssen’s Lemwerder yard, Abeking & Rasmussen has created advanced running surfaces, like its Swath hull that skips over turbulent ocean waves rather than pounding across. The name is known for commercial and military vessels as well as custom yachts.

Its award winners include the 237-foot Cloudbreak , which set new design standards for expedition yachts, and the 244-foot Elandess , featuring its “Nemo Lounge” with a window below the waterline. Abeking’s flagship, the 321-foot Aviva , is unique among yachts its size with an unmatched interior volume that includes a regulation-sized paddle-tennis court .

The 112-year-old yard is typically ahead of the latest trends. It is developing a hybrid fuel cell powered by methanol that emits only clean steam. The system could well be the first hydrocarbon-emissions-free propulsion in the yachting world.

Feadship Amsterdam Yard

Formed as a group in 1949, Feadship is probably the most famous name among the Dutch builders. Feadship is comprised of the De Vries and Van Lent family yards, with locations in Aalsmeer, Makkum, Kaag, and Amsterdam. The group also includes De Voogt Naval Architects .

Feadship, credited with dozens of custom launches over the last seven decades, has grown into Holland’s superyacht powerhouse. In the 2015, it launched 333-foot Symphony , the first Feadship to cross the 100-meter mark. Faith , a stunning 312-footer launched two years later, has a streamlined profile and helicopter pad with hangar on the foredeck and swimming pool with glass floor (forming the ceiling of the beach club below) on the aft deck.

Last year, Feadship launched a half-dozen other yachts, including 241-foot Sherpa . Its expedition-yacht exterior, including two industrial-looking exhaust stacks on the aft cockpit, shows Feadship’s design capabilities. Its Project 814, with its vertical bow and long, lean forefoot, will be an example of an entirely new look, when launched later this year.

Specializing in made-to-measure, custom-built superyachts, award-winning builder Nobiskrug produces its vessels out of three different facilities in northern Germany: Rendsburg, Kiel-Gaarden, and Kiel-Friedrichsort. The yard was established in Rendsburg in 1905, shortly after the Kiel Canal opened in 1895. Today Nobiskrug employs more than 1,000 highly skilled craftsmen and women across the three shipyards. In-house production includes hull construction, steel cutting, mechanical work, fitting, pipe fitting, paint, electrical, and carpentry, with these workshops organized under one roof.

Shown above is the brand’s Best of the Best winner A , designed by Philippe Starck and built by Nobiskrug, the yacht is a 470-foot sail-assisted motor yacht that was delivered in 2017.

Representing the future of the company, Nobiskrug’s hybrid superyacht Artefact (ex-project 790) was revealed last fall in Monaco and is scheduled for a 2019 delivery. With an exterior by Canada’s Gregory Marshall Studio and interior by Reymond Langton Design, the yacht features numerous eco-friendly characteristics, such as lower emissions and a quieter ride. It also utilizes a Dynamic Positioning System to hold its position for longer, delaying the need for sea-bed-damaging anchors.

Amels Shipyard

Amels celebrated its centennial in 2018, but the superyacht builder has modern facilities and one of the industry’s smartest business plans. It was acquired by the Damen Group in 1991, which gave it the financial resources and vision to become one of the most respected custom yacht builders. Ten years ago, it launched a Limited Editions range. Built on proven hull platforms from 180 to 272 feet, owners have a choice of customizing both the interior and exteriors. Close to 40 yachts have been delivered since, proving that the disruptive concept has a place in yacht-building.

The Amels’ yard in Vlissingen has two climate-controlled bays, one 475 feet and the other 670 feet, for multiple new builds or refits. Its second yard in Vlissingen East has a climate-controlled bay, measuring 705 feet.

Used for military and commercial vessels, it has the facilities and skilled workers to handle the world’s largest custom, steel-hulled yachts. Noteworthy launches last year include 243-foot Universe , 205-foot Sea & US , and 189-foot Volpini 2 .

Oceanco Launches 110-Meter Project Jubilee Superyacht

Oceanco is a relative newcomer, but it has created some of the world’s most beautiful custom superyachts. Names like the recently launched 295-foot DAR are great examples, but the yard has also built technically advanced vessels like the 350-foot sailing superyacht, Black Pearl , with some of the most advanced sails ever designed. Its other award winners like Jubilee , Aquijo , and Infinity , retain their own unique DNA. The yard has worked with the most sought-after yacht designers, including Terence Disdale , Nuvolari-Lenard , Espen Øino , Sam Sorgiovanni , Igor Lobanov , Tim Heywood , and Andrew Winch .

The Alblasserdam yard is working on 357-foot Project Bravo , the first Oceanco with its proprietary LIFE design (lengthened, innovative, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly). Bravo will combine hybrid propulsion, weight savings, and extra interior space in a package that could be a game-changer for yachting. “Our approach with Bravo was to maintain a stunningly sleek profile without sacrificing interior space,” says designer Dan Lenard. “The new exterior style concept is bound to create a new design stream.”

Among the Dutch builders, Heesen has seen the greatest expansion of its model line, which is available in aluminum and steel. Its recent launches range from the 164-foot futuristic hybrid, Home , to more conventional designs like the 180-foot Laurentia . The yard really started its upward trajectory in 2011 with the simultaneous launches of Quinta Essentia and Satori, two very different yachts that captivated the superyacht world.

Two years later, Galactica Star , the first fast-displacement yacht, showed that Heesen lived in a world where design and technology intersect. Its largest-ever build, 230-foot Galactica Super Nova , was a sign that Heesen can move into larger categories. The yard has drawings of an ultra-modern 83-meter custom Maximus concept, complete with an entirely open cockpit and swimming pool with waterfall, waiting for the right owner.

Benetti Delfino 95 Viareggio

Benetti is not only the world’s largest superyacht builder, it is also one of the oldest. Started in 1875, the Italian builder always has a parade of custom and semicustom builds. The Azimut Benetti Group now has 97 yachts under build over 78 feet. In the last year, Benetti has launched a range of yachts, including Ironman , its sixth Fast 140, 207-foot custom Metis and 226-foot Spectre .

Benetti also recently launched its largest-ever build, 351-foot FB277, one of three gigayachts currently being built in its Livorno yard. The other two are due to launch this year. The world’s largest superyacht builder continues to push the boundaries in design and technology, as it moves into gigayacht territory that the yards in Northern Europe have dominated for years.

The 262-foot Chopi Chopi was a landmark yacht for CRN when it launched in 2013, showing that the Italian yard could go toe-to-toe with the yards in Northern Europe. Chopi Chopi is still CRN’s largest build to date, but the Ancona facility has launched a succession of custom yachts that have established CRN’s place as the crown jewel of the Ferretti Group. The military exterior of 180-foot Atlante , sleek hull of 239-foot Yalla , or stunning, high-tech interior of its most recent launch, Cloud 9 , show the range of the custom builder.

CRN’s current builds include a 260-foot tri-deck motor yacht, a pair of 203-footers with low superstructures and vertical bows, and a 164-foot Superconero , a modern version of the 1970s SuperConero that defined CRN. Ferretti has invested about $10 million to upgrade the Ancona yard, with plans to invest another $15 million.

Baglietto Shipyard

Baglietto Shipyard.  Photo: Emilio Bianchi

Baglietto is one of Italy’s most revered yacht names, having started in 1840 when Pieto Baglietto built small wooden fishing boats in his backyard. The company built boats for kings and popes, and put the first combustion engine into an 80-foot yacht in 1906. After being rescued from bankruptcy by the Gavio Group, a multinational corporation owned by a yacht-loving family, Baglietto has experienced a renaissance. Both its production facility, which gained a $25 million facelift, and model line, ranging from 43 to 230 feet, are now state of the art.

Francesco Paszkowski, Italy’s most revered yacht designer, does the lion’s share of design for Baglietto, but the builder recently unveiled other concepts by Milan-based Hot Lab and Santa Maria Magnolfi for its midrange superyachts. Baglietto is offering these very different designs on five proven hull platforms. Its 230-foot flagship is from Mulder Design in the Netherlands.

Rossinavi Aurora

Rossinavi ’s recent launches are some of the most inspired designs in the superyacht world. The 2017 launches, 160-foot  Endeavour II and 161-foot  Aurora , are as different in design as chalk and cheese. The yard worked with Achille Salvagn i on both interiors. Salvagni, known for his stylized residential interiors and whimsical decor, brought a fresh sensibility to both yachts that gave them very distinct personalities.

Last year, the yard launched two more inimitable yachts, 206-foot  Utopia IV and 161-foot  Flying Dagger . Utopia IV is unique among superyachts because of its top end of 33 knots, with transatlantic range. Always on the lookout for new ideas, Rossinavi has unveiled concepts with Pininfarina, designer of many Ferrari models, and the Phantom 62, a sleek, futuristic design by Enrico Gobbi.

Sanlorenzo Superyacht Yard

With headquarters in Ameglia and other yards in Viareggio, Massa, and La Spezia, Sanlorenzo is ranked among the top three builders of yachts over 80 feet. In the last two years it has introduced a 118-foot planing yacht, a 210-foot 64Steel (due out this year), the 171-foot custom Seven Sins —not to mention the flagship of its explorer line, the 164-foot 500EXP Ocean Dreamwalker III , which it launched at the last Monaco Yacht Show . The light-blue steel hull shows the style that Sanlorenzo gives to each new launch.

The Perini name extends across a succession of groundbreaking yachts from 289-foot  Maltese Falcon , which had a DynaRig sail plan that was designed from a theory, to the ultimate blue-water cruiser, the 229-foot  Sybaris , through to the flagship of Monaco’s 2017 show, the 1 97-foot  Seven .

Since a management restructuring in 2017, Perini Navi has introduced multiple new lines , including its E-volution sailing yacht series and three styles of motor yachts—Argonaut, Heritage, and Voyager. With two yards in Italy and a third in Turkey, Perini now has three sailing yachts under construction, including two 138-foot E-volutions. Its three motor achts under build include two Philippe Briand–designed 53 and 56 Voyagers, as well as its 82-foot hybrid-powered Eco-tender. The brand’s new energy promises a bright future.

Sunseeker shipyard shed

When John and Robert Braithwaite started their fledgling boat business in 1969, the two brothers had no idea it would become one of the UK’s most important shipyards. Sunseeker is different from most yards on this list because it builds only in composites up to 155 feet.

Prompted by owner demand, Sunseeker is now venturing into aluminum with its new 161 Yacht. Easily recognized by Sunseeker’s exterior design cues, the 161 will be built by Icon Yachts in Holland. “We are combining the metal build expertise of ICON with our design DNA, technical expertise, and market know-how,” says Sean Robertson, president of Sunseeker USA, adding the new yacht will “absolutely” be a Sunseeker. The 161 will be launched in 2021.

Princess Yachts Shipyard

Princess Yachts

Princess Yachts is the other British builder that continues to evolve in interesting, new ways. Established in Plymouth in 1965, Princess has grown into multiple modern production sites measuring more than 1.1 million square feet. Situated in a port with maritime ties that date back centuries, Princess’s South Yard, where the M Class superyachts are built, is a former 17th-century naval yard.

The Princess flagship, the 131-foot 40M Imperial Princess, seems like a larger superyacht, with large interior volume and unusual natural light. The yard also makes a 30M (98 foot LOA) and 35M (115 foot LOA).

Its most exciting launch was the R35, a 35-footer designed by Pininfarina, with a foil system that reduces drag by 30 percent. Princess plans to add the foil design to its larger yachts, an innovation that could revolutionize yachting.

Royal Huisman

Established in 1884, Royal Huisman is one of the oldest shipyards in Holland but one of its most modern. Its waterside facility in Vollenhove totals about 350,000 square feet, with four heated bays to accommodate yachts up to 266 feet. It has another facility in Amsterdam and a third in Emden, with facilities for yachts up to 394 feet. Its fleet of famous sailing superyachts include Gliss, Antares, Hyperiod, Hanuman, Elfie, and Arcadia . Its recent launches include the 190-foot  Ngoni , which has one of the most eclectic interiors ever, and the more classic 184-foot  Aquarius . Though best known for custom sailboats, the yard is currently working on Project Phi, a 180-foot motor yacht designed by Van Ooosannen Naval Architects.

Nautor’s Swan shipyard

Nautor’s Swan

Finnish builder Nautor’s Swan , founded in 1966 by Pekka Koskenkyla, has always had its sights on building high-performance sailing yachts with beautiful wood interiors. Koskenkyla enlisted Sparkman & Stephens, designer for many winning America’s Cup yachts, to create its first fiberglass boat. The new boats saw instant racing success.

The builder eventually partnered with German Frers Design. The Frers team, working with 30 Swan designers, is responsible for many innovative designs, including the first Swan 115 S introduced in 2015 at the Monaco show. The 115 was the flagship of the its Maxi division, which includes the Swan 98 , and eventually became the Swan 120.

Nautor’s Swan expanded beyond its historical plant in Kallby in 2002, when it opened a new high-tech facility in Pietarsaari for yachts from 60 to 115 feet. Its Kronoby facility produces its famous wood interiors. The most noteworthy yard in Finland has produced 2,000 Swans since it launched operations.

Westport's shipyard in Port Angeles, Washington.

Westport Yachts

Westport Yachts has been North America’s most prolific superyacht builder since it began building boats in 1969. Its facilities in Westport and Port Angeles, Washington, include enclosed spaces of 170,000 and 100,00 square feet, respectively, with a separate 80,000-square-foot cabinet shop and 4,100-square-foot upholstery shop. Westport has launched more than 140 yachts.

Westport’s success lies in its disciplined approach to yacht building, which involves a production mentality that keeps each build on time and on budget. The builder uses leading-edge machinery, proven coring materials, and components like MTU and Caterpillar engines, Northern Lights generators, and Furuno electronics that bring quality and consistency to the build process.

Its line of the W112, W125, W130 and W164 are contemporary but not ostentatious, with high levels of fit and finish across the yacht. That type of production mentality, which allows for a certain degree of customization, means the yachts are built to the same high standards.

Westport clients appreciate that level of reliability, not to mention resale value, when it comes to yacht ownership.

Delta Marine

Delta Marine is not given much to self-promotion, but the Seattle yard shares the same type of pedigree as many of the top European builders.

Delta Marine Invictus.

Its production quality, skilled labor, and proven ability to turn intricate, complex designs into beautiful, custom superyachts has earned it a place among the world’s top builders. The yard comprises a 25-acre complex in Seattle, with 300,000 square feet of manufacturing space in its state-of-the-art facility. With Boeing headquarters just down the road, and Seattle being a leading tech center, the trickle-down influence on the shipyard is noteworthy. Its collection of custom yachts includes 216-foot  Invictus , 164-foot  Arianna , and 240-foot  Laurel . Recently, an unnamed 204-foot launch was seen on sea trials near the yard.

Overmarine Mangusta El Leon superyacht

The Overmarine Group’s Mangusta brand has been known for speed during its 34-year-history. The Balducci family defined their niche, though the range has expanded to maxi open yachts and long-range yachts. The line extends from 94 to 215 feet LOA, with 300 yachts produced over the years. Its Mangusta Maxi Open series, ranging from 94 to 215 feet, offers speed as well as quietness and stability, in a stylish package. Its 50M (164-footer) is considered an industry icon. The Mangusta Oceano are long-range yachts with ranges up to 5,000 miles.

The Mangusta GranSports are a combination of the two lines, fast-displacement yachts capable of covering long distances. The group has 10 production facilities in Tuscany and Viareggio, Massa, and Pisa that total around two million square feet of indoor and exterior space. It has two wharfs in Viareggio where it does the final work on its yachts. Overmarine is vertically integrated, from the initial design to making the molds, to installing the electronics. The company celebrated a milestone in December: Its Gransport El Leon  (shown above) crossed the Atlantic, the first Mangusta to ever accomplish that feat.

Southern Wind

This 25-year-old builder has design offices in Italy and a modern yard in Johannesburg, South Africa, where it builds advanced composite sailing yachts from 82 to 115 feet in length. Over the years, it has worked with renowned sailing yacht designers, Farr Yacht, Reichel/Pugh, and Nauta Design. Most launches are semi-custom projects built on proven running surfaces, giving the owner the choice to customize interior and exterior. Southern Wind ’s most  recent launch is SW105 Kiboko Tres , the second of its performance cruiser series. Designed for offshore sailing but with the comforts of a superyacht, Kiboko Tres passed the ultimate sea trial: 7,000 miles from Johannesburg to Italy, on its way from the shipyard to the offices in Italy.

Christensen Yachts Chasseur

Christensen

Rare among superyacht builders, Christensen Yachts does virtually all of its work in house. The Vancouver, Washington–based yard has its own metal department for completing stainless handrails, stairways, anchor pockets, and other custom pieces, as well as a stone shop for marble, onyx, quartz, granite, and limestone used in the inlaid floors, countertops, and panels; and shops for woodworking, painting, and upholstery. Vertical integration allows the yard to deliver exceptional details for its yachts, which run up to 164 feet. Christensen’s Chasseur won top award in its category in the 2017 International Superyacht Society, in part for the intricate interior.

Derecktor Shipyards

New York, Florida & Maine - Since 1947

Derecktor Shipyards - Since 1947

It was 1947 when Bob Derecktor began with a simple plan and a small shop in Mamaroneck, NY. His goal: build boats the equal of any in the world, and do it without compromise.

Today, the record says he and the yards he founded have done just that. Notable vessels ranging from America's Cup winners to massive mega-yachts to rugged Coast Guard cutters have come from Derecktor.

Just as  remarkable is the way the business has evolved. That first shop has grown to three full-service facilities ranging the length of the East Coast, and a fourth currently coming online in Fort Pierce, Florida. And, while still among the world's best builders and still a family business, today we offer customers a variety of benefits from complex refits to destination marinas.

What has not changed is a driving determination to do it right. Which is why when most American boatbuilders that were around all those years ago are now but distant memories, Derecktor is thriving. And still right on course.

Our Clients Are Family

Approachable experts treating others the way we want to be treated..

I have now used their services twice: firstly, when they delivered my Tartan 37 from S FL to E NC. great price and great job. Thanks Paul. And secondly when I put up my boat for sale with their Brokerage. Their Sales broker, Andy did a wonderful job selling my boat. And without Nancy’s administrative skills nothing would have happened! I highly recommend.

If you need a yacht transport, check out Danny and the guys at Triton. As a boatyard that loaded one for them, I can assure you these guys are who you want. Knowledgeable, professional, and THEY HAVE THE RIGHT EQUIPMENT FOR THE JOB!!! ...no standing around trying to figure how to put a boat on an inadequate trailer - trust me, USE THEM!!

W. Reed Tiller

W. Reed Tiller

My boat and I were in their yard for 7 months and treated exceptionally well. Power and water are close by as well as a coed bathroom with shower. I couldn't have asked for a better place to start my journey. Yard is easily accessibly, quiet, and well protected. And when you're ready to launch there are several marina's close by to choose from.

Andy, Nancy and the Triton team were not only incredibly helpful, open and honest, but they cleaned, packed and transported the boat to Jacksonville for us to be shipped home. Not only are we now the proud owners of a lovely boat that arrived in great shape "as described" with no surprises, but we feel we’ve made some great new friends at Triton.

how to add thesis work in resume

How to put your thesis on a resume.

  • When it's appropriate to feature your thesis in a resume

A template and example on how to feature a thesis on your resume

Tips to list your thesis on your resume.

Resume image 1

A thesis is a statement that explains the general point of a project. Typically, this statement gives the reader a clear idea of the primary points so they can have more context when working through the information to follow. It may also offer a definitive hypothesis, statement, or personal perspective.

The thesis also refers to an academic project that a doctoral candidate completes in pursuit of their professional qualification. We’ll focus on that usage today, looking at how to add this project to a resume.

In this article, you’ll learn

  • When it’s appropriate to add a thesis to a resume
  • Tips on adding your thesis to a resume
  • Key takeaways

When it's appropriate to feature your thesis in a resume

Here are a few instances when you should add your thesis to your resume.

When applying for another degree

Thesis work looks good when you’re applying for other programs. It shows that you’re familiar with academic coursework and have completed significant challenges in your field.

When it’s relevant to the position

A thesis shows that you’ve earned specialized knowledge. When that knowledge pertains to a certain position, the employer must know that. Even if the relevance is a slight stretch, it’s still worth citing on your resume.

When you want to show transferable skills

Gaining a thesis requires refined skills. Those skills are likely transferable . Isolate those skills and think of ways they could apply to your intended position. If the skills relate directly, that’s a great reason to add the thesis to your resume.

Let’s see how you could add your thesis to a resume . It might be challenging to figure out where you should add the information. The following examples should give you some perspective.

Example of a thesis on a resume

Here’s an example of how to cite your thesis under “relevant experience.”

Doctoral Thesis

March 2019 - january 2020.

Produced an accepted thesis on the function of microorganisms in the onset of heart disease. Worked closely with University faculty to achieve insights that have since saved lives. Utilized intense research, communication, and organizational skills to complete the project.

A few concise sentences about impact, structure, and the effort required will help display the work you’ve done.

A thesis on resume template

You could cite your thesis in numerous places in your resume. However, it’s smart to find one place and stick to it.

In a template , you might find space for your thesis under “work experience,” “professional experiences,” “education,” or somewhere in an introduction.

Here are a few things you could note in your description of the thesis.

Make sure to mention your GPA

Your GPA holds a lot of weight. Noting that you could finish a thesis and maintain a solid GPA is smart. You can also note any grading that came from your thesis work, specifically.

List relevant research projects

Cite particular research projects that occurred within your thesis work. These will all highlight different skills or unique knowledge that you have.

A key thing to remember is that you can apply skills gained while earning your thesis. You can also use your thesis in numerous areas of the resume.

Understanding how to add a thesis to your resume intelligently can help you stand out and utilize the skills you gained through your doctoral process.

Find a Job You Really Want In

Research experiences and skills are an incredibly important aspect of many job applications, so it’s important to know how to put them on your resume correctly. Hiring managers and recruiters want employees who can help drive innovation by being able to apply research skills to problem solve and come up with creative growth solutions.

If you’re a job seeker looking to include your research skills on a resume , we’ll go over how to list research on resume, where you can include it on a resume, and give you some examples.

Key Takeaways:

If you don’t have traditional research experience, highlight the skills used for research that you’ve used in past jobs.

Consider creating a separate research section in your resume if you have a lot of research experience or merge sections, depending on which section you want to bolster with research.

Research experience is one of the best assets to include on a resume so be on the lookout for more opportunities.

Research skills are any skills related to your ability to locate, extract, organize, and evaluate data relevant to a particular subject. It also involves investigation, critical thinking , and presenting or using the findings in a meaningful way.

Depending on what job you’re applying for, research skills could make or break your ability to land the job. Almost every job requires some research skills and you probably already have some of those skills mastered by now.

For most careers, research is a vital process to be able to answer questions. “Research skills” are not a single skill, but multiple ones put together.

Some skills that are necessary for research are organization, problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and specific technical skills, like coding, Excel, and copywriting.

Including research experience and skills on a resume can be incredibly flexible. When thinking about how to add it to your resume, you want to consider how the research experience adds to your resume.

Your research experience can be included in a few different sections of your resume. Some of those sections include:

Academic accomplishments

Research experience

Work experience/history

College activities

Volunteer work

Presentations and publications

Skills section

If you’ve had smaller research roles but no “official” research experience, you can highlight the skills associated with the types of research mentioned above in your job description under the work history section in your resume.

If your job history is a research position, then naturally, you would include research under the work history section. You can also merge your sections depending on what type of position you are applying for.

For example, you could create a “Research and Education” section or a “Research and Publications” section. If your research is not related to your education and you don’t have any publications, you can also detail it in a separate “Research” section in your resume.

To include your research on your resume, you should gather all the necessary information and then quantify your accomplishments to fit into specific sections. Here is a more detailed list of how to write about research experience in resume:

Gather all the necessary information. The first step is to collect all of the important details like the title of the research project, the location of the research project, the principal investigator of the project (if applicable), and the dates of the project. You will list these details much like you would list a company you have worked for in the past.

Read the job description carefully. Every resume and cover letter you write should be tailored to the job you’re applying for. When a hiring manager puts a necessary qualification in their job posting, you must be sure to include it in your resume.

Make sure that you highlight the right types of research skills on your job applications and resumes.

Quantify your accomplishments. When describing your role on the project, you will want to summarize your accomplishments and deliverables. Hiring managers and recruiters love seeing numbers. When you write out the deliverables from your project, make sure you quantify them.

Incorporate into your work history section. If there were times when you used your research skills in your past employment opportunities, include them in your work experience section. You can also include publications, conferences you may have presented at, and any awards or recognition your research had received.

If you have completed research in an academic setting, then presentations (oral and poster) are an important part of the research process. You should include those details along with the titles of your publications.

Add to your research section. Other aspects of research that you can detail to make your application more competitive are adding skills specific to your project to the skills section of your resume.

These skills will vary depending on the subject matter, but some examples include coding languages, interviewing skills, any software you used and are proficient in using, managerial skills , and public speaking if you have presented your research at conferences.

Add research to your skills section. If the specific research you did is less important than the skills you used to perform it, highlight that in your skills section. That way, you don’t have to take up a lot of work or education history with slightly irrelevant information, but hiring managers can still see you have research skills.

Just be sure you’re more specific about a research methodology you’re an expert in because the skills section doesn’t give you as much room to explain how you leveraged these abilities.

Sprinkle research throughout your resume. If you have a lot of experience performing research in professional, volunteer, and educational settings, pepper it in a few different sections. The more hands-on experience you have with research, the better (for jobs that require research).

Let’s look at some examples of how research can be included on a resume:

University research example

EDUCATION Undergraduate Thesis, University of Connecticut, Dec. 2017-May 2018 Worked alongside UCONN English Department head Penelope Victeri to research the poetry of New England writers of the 20th century. Explored common themes across the works of Elizabeth Bishop, Wallace Stevens, and Robert Lowell. Performed online and in-person research on historical documents relating to each author , including information on the political, religious, and economic landscape of the US at the time. Analyzed poetic works of each author and drew on similar contemporary regional authors’ works. Prepared 20,000 words thesis entitled “Place, Allegory, and Religion: Three 20th Century New England Poets” and defended my written arguments to a panel of English professors.

Customer service research example

WORK EXPERIENCE Conducted interviews with 20 customers each week to gain insight into the user experience with company products Used Google analytics to determine which pages were driving most web traffic, and increased traffic by 11% Reviewed thousands of customer surveys and compiled findings into monthly reports with graphic findings Presented at weekly marketing meeting to inform marketing team of trends in customer experience with our products

Laboratory research example

RESEARCH Conducted experiments on rat brains by introducing various novel chemical compounds and levels of oxygen Ran electricity through brain slices to view interaction of different chemical compounds on active brain cells Prepared sterile samples for daily check and maintained 89% percent yield over the course of a 3-month study Presented findings in a final 15 -page research report and presentation to the Research and Development team

How to put a master's thesis to work in a resume.

careertrend article image

Having a master's degree in a particular field already demonstrates that you have extensive knowledge in that subject area -- but adding information about your master's thesis on your resume can help drive the point home even more. It's especially helpful to include information about your thesis on the resume if that thesis relates closely to the job for which you're now applying -- but in any case, it's worth including it in your resume's "Education" section.

Where to Include the Thesis

In the "Education" section of your resume, list the schools you've attended in reverse chronological order . Start with the name of the institution, followed by the degree you earned and the area or subject you specialized in. If you're trying to save space, type "Thesis:" on the same line, and then include the title of your master's thesis . If you have available space -- or you want to make the information about your thesis stand out more for the employer -- skip a line under the basic information about your master's degree, hit "Tab" on your keyboard to create an indentation, and then type "Masters Thesis:" followed by its title. For even more emphasis, type one succinct line describing the nature of the thesis. To make it stand out even more, describe particular points from the thesis in your job application cover letter.

How to put research on your resumé.

Resumés are important documents for all kinds of application packages — jobs, scholarships, grad school, etc. Your resumé should fit within the total package highlighting your achievements in a concise manner that can be further expounded upon in your personal statement, cover letter, or your letters of reference. It is important to custom tailor your resumé to any particular position, or program you are applying for. Some information needs to be emphasized more than other depending on what the reviewers may be looking for.

Using Your Space Wisely

In general, a resumé should be no more than two pages long — unless you have a large number of presentations or publications that need to be listed. Avoid the tendency to add more “stuff” to your resumé to try to look impressive. Use the relevant experience you have and determine what was impressive about it (for example, demonstrated independence, innovation, grit, or tenacity; helped improve ways of doing things in the lab; were given additional responsibilities as time went on; etc.)

  • A reviewer would rather read about the two positions you had that are relevant, than try to sift through seven or eight clubs or fast-food job descriptions.
  • Transcript?
  • Recommendation Letters?
  • Personal Statement?

Typically, resumes are formatted so that your most recent position is listed first. However, don’t put working at Dairy Queen first, if you are applying for a research position. Instead, consider using some of the following sections:

  • Academic Accomplishments
  • Research Experience
  • Work Experience/Employment
  • College Activities
  • Volunteer Work
  • Presentations and Publications

You do not need all of these categories, especially if you do not have relevant, interesting, or recent experience with them. Do not feel forced to try to fit your resume into someone else’s template. Make a list of what you want to include then design categories that fit your experience and story. Keep in mind that these categories will change over time (for example: five years after college, you will no longer need to include a section on “college activities”).

Research Mentor

  • Area of research
  • Not only does it show that you worked directly with a faculty member in your position, but reviewers might be familiar with your mentor’s work which could put you at an advantage.
  • Consider listing projects and accomplishments the group achieved first before breaking things out on a year to year basis.
  • If you were funded by different sources at different times, put a list of these sources at the bottom of the experience in this position.

Job Titles, Time Periods

  • Use something that makes sense (sometimes HR titles do not)
  • Instead of “MUURS Scholar” say “Student Researcher funded by the MU Undergraduate Research Scholars Program”
  • Summer 2017 (9 weeks, full time internship)
  • Academic Year 2018-2019 (15 hrs/week)
  • What does that award mean?
  • Will anyone outside of campus know what that is?
  • Was the program selective?
  • What was the award amount?
  • What was the duration of the award?
  • You can list various funding sources at the end of the relevant section
  • External funding (from a government entity such as NIH, for example) is impressive. Be sure to list it.

You need to take the time to seriously consider your experience and how that allowed you to grow and mature as a researcher. Ask yourself these questions when brainstorming about your experience:

  • What are areas you excelled in?
  • What are lessons you learned?
  • What are things you improved upon from the person before you?
  • How did you spend your time?
  • What skills did you gain?
  • What research outcomes were reached?
  • How long were you in the lab?

Use specific numbers or other qualifiers when applicable to show just how much work, effort, independence, or tenacity you had.

If your publication and presentation experience is limited, it is recommended that you include it with your relevant experience. However, if you have extensive or otherwise impressive experience (won a presentation award at a conference, or presented your work to state legislators at the Undergraduate Research Day at the the State Capitol, for example) then include a new category specifically for Presentations and/or Publications.

Presentations

  • Include full list of authors
  • Include full and official title
  • Include if it was poster or oral presentation (ie, 15 minute presentation)
  • Include location, event
  • Include date (at least month and year)
  • Include any award
  • Check in with your mentor, to find out if a poster you co-authored was presented elsewhere.

Publications

  • Full citation when published
  • In Press – journal, date?
  • Submitted for review – journal/date
  • In preparation
  • Check with your mentor as many projects are not completed by the time as student graduates.

Final Reminders

  • Know your audience
  • Explain (or spell out)
  • Organize to fit your own situation
  • Make it easy to follow – esp. if you have ‘time away’
  • But have on comprehensive and cohesive running resumé.
  • Have a system in place to update/organize your resumés.
  • Use professional language, as most files are submitted electronically — the reviewer will see if you named a file “Better Resumé”
  • ex: Jane Doe Resumé – Biochemistry REU, UT Austin
  • This will ensure that the reviewer knows who you are and what you are applying for without even opening the file.

Man steals not 1, but 2 boats on NYC's Hudson River, police say

NEW YORK - A man stole not one, but two boats from the piers along the Hudson River early Thursday morning on Manhattan's West Side, police said.

Police sources said 22-year-old Juan Hernandez first stole a decommissioned fire boat around 2:30 a.m. from Pier 66 at 27th Street and 12th Avenue near Hudson Yards. Witnesses reported seeing him untie the boat's ropes and set off into the water.

He drifted on the boat for about 30 minutes, traveling a half mile south to Pier 64, where the boat got stuck. He then jumped into the water, swam to shore and stole a sailboat, police sources said.

Police said Hernandez continued for another 30 minutes down to Pier 51, where he was taken into custody and charged with two counts of grand larceny auto.

He was on the water for around an hour, traveling about a mile down the shore of Hudson River Park along Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood.

Police did not release any information about why he stole the boats. He is believed to be homeless and does not have any prior arrests, sources said.

Anyone with any information about the case is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) , or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782 ). You can also submit a tip via their website or via DM on Twitter,  @NYPDTips . All calls are kept confidential.

While athletes raced nearby and the city celebrated the opening of Boston Marathon weekend, another beloved tradition returned to the Boston Public Garden: the Swan Boats.

Swan Boats are a landmark in Boston, and part of the tradition includes the mayor celebrating their return to the lagoon. Mayor Michelle Wu was aboard for the first ride of the season around the lagoon at 10 a.m.

Boston's Swan Boats were first launched in 1877 by Irish immigrant and shipbuilder Robert Paget, who was inspired by the opera Lohengrin. Five generations later, the Paget family continues to operate the business.

The process of re-assembling the Swan Boats and launching them on the lagoon is a labor of love.

Two years ago, Swan Boat president Lyn Paget explained that the six boats that comprise the fleet were built between 1910 and 1992, with materials like iron, oak, brass and copper. But handling those heavy materials isn't the only reason why re-assembling the boats is a time-consuming, detail-oriented undertaking.

"They are custom-made, which means that each piece of the boat — and there's about 25 pieces — is a custom piece, non-interchangeable," she said.

Video below: 2022 Swan Boat season begins

The oldest boat in operation has been on the lagoon each season since 1910, and the newest was launched in 1993. Fully loaded, each weighs approximately three tons and is powered by the driver, who uses a foot-propelled paddle wheel.

From April 13 through June 20, rides are offered from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m., weather permitting. From June 21 through Labor Day, the hours are 10 a.m. through 5 p.m.

Rides cost $4.50 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children ages 2-15. Children under age 2 are free.

In a sure sign of spring, Swan Boats glide again in Boston Public Garden

Swan Boats glided through the lagoon in the Boston Public Garden Saturday afternoon, marking the start of another season for one of the city's most popular attractions.

Like the spirited celebrations along Boylston Street on Marathon Monday, the launch of the Swan Boats in the Boston Public Garden is a symbol of the start of spring in the city.

As has been the case for almost 150 years, the fleet was ready for service on Saturday morning. The first boat carried Mayor Michelle Wu and her family through the famed lagoon.

Six-year-old Andile Gay, of Dorchester, participated in a Swan Boat art program for Boston Public School students, so her family was invited to ride with the mayor.

“It’s been fun,” Mbali Gay, 38, said of her family’s first-ever ride on the boats. “It’s been something that’s welcoming to all families.”

The iconic Swan Boats are a big draw for visitors to Boston on Patriots Day weekend.

As a child growing up in Boston, Maria DeSisto regularly went to the Swan Boats with her mother and sisters. She still tries to make it to every opening day.

“It just remains a wonderful, affordable constant in the city,” said DeSisto, 59, who now lives in Taunton. “For that 15 minutes on the ride? It’s just total peace and immersion in the experience.”

Preparations for each new magical season begin long before opening day. One of the city’s top tourist attractions, the Swan Boats operate on varying schedules through Sept. 2.

Crews spent months sanding down benches and varnishing oak slats on each boat. Last week, they lugged custom-made parts to the Public Garden, where each vessel was meticulously assembled by hand.

The Swan Boats, first introduced by Irish immigrant Robert Paget in 1877, are propelled by a driver who sits atop a paddle wheel to pedal the vessel forward.

“There’s a lot of little stuff that takes place over the winter,” Lyn Paget, a fourth-generation owner of the company, said in an interview ahead of this year’s opening. “And then there’s the regular painting and prep to get everything all spruced up so that they look great for opening.”

The Swan Boats, first introduced by Irish immigrant Robert Paget in 1877, are propelled by a driver who sits atop a paddle wheel to pedal the vessel forward, according to the company’s website . All six boats are built of oak, ornamental copper, iron, and brass, which Paget said makes them the only boats of their type left in the world.

“There’s something that’s really important about maintaining the tradition and integrity of these boats,” said Paget, who manages the company alongside her cousin, Phil Paget. “These boats are what create the memories and the stories that we hear over and over.”

While replacing the copper belly of each 3-ton boat with fiberglass might make for easier maintenance, Paget said maintaining the fleet’s original construction is essential to the long-term viability of the business.

“With a business like this, you can’t just be thinking about the next week or month or quarter or season,” said Paget, who spent her teenage years selling ride tickets. “You really have to be thinking about how we maintain this for as long as we possibly can.”

Like the Marathon, the return of the Swan Boats is a sure sign that Boston is waking up from winter.

“When people see those boats coming in, there’s this relief that we’re getting back outside,” said Paget. “We are a symbol that even if the weather’s not great on the day that we open, it’s going to get better.”

Like the Boston Marathon, the Swan Boats gliding through the lagoon in the Boston Public Garden is a rite of spring in the city.

Many people made their way to the boats after participating in the Boston 5K , a run through Back Bay held as part of the Marathon festivities.

Assyifa Ilman, 27, a Harvard graduate student from Indonesia, hopped aboard with friends after finishing the race.

“I think it’s a very good thing to open in spring because all the trees are blossoming at the moment, so it’s a really great experience overall,” Ilman said.

Olivia O’Dwyer, of Cambridge, said she expected the boats, which seat 20 people, to be smaller. “I didn’t expect [there] would be so many people on the boat,” she said.

But O’Dwyer, 25, said she loved sharing a ride on one of the iconic boats.

“It was honestly kind of nice to be with that whole group,” she said.

Each Swan Boat is assembled by hand at the start of each season. A boat can hold 20 passengers.

Billionaire fights to dock his boat on water behind his house. His 164-foot boat, that is.

The love of the water, and a mega-yacht to enjoy it, is putting one resident at odds with village of north palm beach leaders..

boat yards yachts

For some people, the ultimate Florida lifestyle is a waterfront house , a private dock and a boat parked next to it. But what if that boat is a mega-yacht , and the mega-yacht stretches 164 feet?

That's the conundrum facing the Village of North Palm Beach.

This tiny community in northern Palm Beach County, with only 13,000 full-time residents, has an identity so tied to the water that a ship's steering wheel is the village's emblem.

But it's that love of the water that is putting one resident at odds with village leaders.

For the past several years, homeowner Michael Bozutto has been battling the village for the right to park his 164-foot Westport, dubbed Honey, behind a home he owns at 932 Shore Drive.

The house, built in 1961, is a one-story, ranch-style property with three bedrooms on a half-acre lot. Bozzuto paid $840,247 for the house in 2014, according to Palm Beach County property records.

Lawsuit rooted in dispute over where to dock mega-yacht

What makes this plain house special is its location. It's on a rare corner bordered on the north and east by navigable waters that provide access to the Atlantic Ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet. The east-facing dock is large enough to accommodate Bozzuto's motor yacht.

Since Bozutto bought Honey for an undisclosed sum a decade ago, he mostly has parked it at the Old Port Cove Marina, near Tiger Woods' 155-foot showy mega-yacht, ironically dubbed Privacy.

More recently, Bozzuto has wanted to park Honey alongside his Shore Drive house, one of four houses he owns in the village. While Bozzuto keeps some personal property at the Shore Drive house, he lives at a house he owns at Harbour Isles Court.

Village officials warned Bozzuto he can't park Honey at 932 Shore Drive because boats can only be parked on docks behind houses that are occupied by the homeowner.

But village rules do not define the word "occupied." For instance, the rules do not state that occupied means the house is a residence where the owner lives. Village rules also contain no restrictions on the size of boats that can be kept at private docks.

After years of pushing back against what he believes are fuzzy rules, Bozzuto in March filed a lawsuit against the village.

More: Cannonsport Marina sells for $58.5 million in big deal for tiny Palm Beach Shores

He alleged the municipality is illegally depriving him of his property rights because nothing in the village code prevents him from mooring Honey at his house. He is asking a Palm Beach County Circuit Court judge to rule that he has a constitutional right to dock Honey there.

Gregory Coleman, Bozzuto's West Palm Beach attorney, said the village has plenty of waterfront homes with yachts parked behind them. But Coleman said the village is illegally blocking Bozzuto from docking Honey at his house because the village is bending to pressure from a handful of neighbors who think the boat is too big.

The selective enforcement is wrong, said Coleman, a former president of the Florida Bar.

"He's a very under-the-radar guy who doesn't cause anybody any problems," Coleman said of Bozzuto. "He pays his property taxes, and he wants to be left alone by the village of North Palm Beach. Unfortunately, they are singling Mike out."

Neither Leonard Rubin, the village's longtime attorney, nor Village Manager Chuck Huff responded to requests for comment.

Eric Stettin, a Fort Lauderdale-based attorney who is representing the village in the Bozzuto lawsuit, said he could not comment on pending litigation.

What good is a man's castle if he can't have a boat in his moat?

Coleman's lawsuit describes the conflict as a battle over property rights, but real estate and yachting experts say it's also a sign of the times.

As wealthy new residents pour into the county wanting all the perks of the Sunshine State, they want a boat to go along with their waterfront homes and golf club memberships. Some longtime residents fear Palm Beach County is turning into a playground for billionaires, to the detriment of everyday people who also want to live in sunshine and peace.

This conflict between Old Florida and new money is an ever-present tension, but even seasoned yacht brokers say they've never seen interest in luxury yachts quite as strong as it is now.

More: Illegal boat slips are popping near Palm Beach Gardens. Residents want regulators to act

"What we've seen in the marketplace right after COVID in the yachting industry, and especially the superyacht segment, is the most incredible growth ever seen in the history of yachting to date," said Shannon McCoy, a luxury yacht advisor and broker with Worth Avenue Yachts in Palm Beach.

"A lot of people are moving here with serious money," added Pascal Savoy, U.S. managing director of Camper & Nicholsons International yacht brokers in Fort Lauderdale.

While in the past Palm Beach County was not considered lively enough for some buyers, Savoy said the county's growing sophistication is putting it on the map in a way never seen before.

"It's a mini-Monaco for us," Savoy said.

Prices for mega-yachts can range from $18 million to $60 million, or many times that, for the largest and most decked-out mega-yachts, Savoy said.

While some yachts can be glitzy, a 164-foot Westport is considered a more low-profile boat, Savoy added.

Michael Bozzuto's interests: Houses, boats and philanthropy

Bozzuto is no newcomer to North Palm Beach. He's been a resident of the village for 20 years.

He is the billionaire owner of a family-owned supermarket wholesaler in Connecticut, and an investor and philanthropist who likes to collect houses and yachts, Coleman said.

In addition to the four North Palm Beach houses and several yachts he owns, Bozzuto in February paid a whopping $31.1 million for a house in the Town of Palm Beach Shores. The house, which has two docks, sits just north of the Palm Beach/Lake Worth Inlet.

Twin City Mall: North Palm clears way for redevelopment, taller buildings at landmark site

Coleman said there is plenty of room for other boaters to navigate the waterway when Honey is parked at the Shore Drive house in North Palm Beach. And while other people may not have as large a yacht, there are other sizeable yachts parked on docks behind other North Palm Beach homes, too, he added.

At a 2017 village council meeting, then-Mayor Darryl Aubrey commented on the issue, according to the complaint.

"When I didn't live here full time, I had a boat sitting in my dock, I was gone nine months of the year. I don't see how you can say that someone has to be in a residence year-round, seems to be some interpretation of occupant, there would be an enormous number of violations," Aubrey said.

Another member of the village council asked if the village had a definition now, the complaint said.

Rubin, the village attorney, replied: "No, we don't," according to the lawsuit.

Show me the money? Here it is: West Palm and Palm Beach rank in top 5 as cities with fastest growth in millionaires

Palm Beach County's waterways run deep, and they are popular

The yacht docking dispute is particularly timely, given the scarcity of dock space for boats of all sizes.

The most convenient place to park a boat is on the water behind a house, brokers say. But not every waterway or channel can accommodate the draft, or depth, of a mega-yacht.

However, the dock behind Bozzuto's Shore Drive house can.

Not only is the Westport not known for its deep hulls, but the waterway also is typical of northern Palm Beach County, which boasts deep water and easy access to the ocean via the Lake Worth Inlet, said Coleman, a lifelong boater.

"In Palm Beach County, they have deeper water, and it allows people to have larger yachts," Savoy agreed.

But not every waterway is deep enough for every boat.

McCoy said she specializes in helping advise potential yacht owners about the county's varied water depths before they buy a house, if they plan to dock their yacht behind it.

If yacht owners don't have a private dock, the other option is a marina. But marina space is hard to find, with many dock berths reserved for months in advance, McCoy said.

Despite the challenges of owning a boat and finding a place to dock it, yacht brokers say demand continues.

They see interest continuing from business executives moving here with their families as they relocate their companies to Palm Beach County. There's also a growing demand for yachts among female buyers, McCoy added.

They also see younger mega-yacht buyers, some even in their early 30s. This is in sharp contrast to the mostly older buyers in the past, Savoy said.

Palm Beach County may not be as go-go as Miami-Dade County when it comes to showy ships, but if interest continues, "it's coming," Savoy said. "You're going to attract bigger yachts."

Put another way: "No one needs a boat, but everyone needs a boat," McCoy said. "It's the ultimate lifestyle."

Our cooperation with the best designers and leading suppliers of the equipment, technological improvements, aiming at perfection as well as our efforts to meet customers’ expectations are the basic qualities of our Company.

Boats models

  • Antila 24.4
  • Antila 26CC

Antila 22 has a very modern design line, which resembles its elder sister Antila 24.4.

Its users comfort was the main aim to be achieved during the designing process. There is a comfortable double bunk (berth) in the bow part (zone), and the bunk under the cockpit is not smaller than in Antila 24 yacht. We also provide a functional and original kambuz with a double-burner cooker and a table top combined with a sink. On the opposite side – a sanitary cabin. In the midship area there are two sofa-beds. We wish to emphasize that the height in the mess room is 1,78m. Antila 22 is the only boat, which having the length of 22 feet, offers a full standing position for the crew members inside it. Outside there is a two-meter long cockpit with open stern where 6 to 8 persons can have a comfortable seat. The cockpit guarantees enjoying the evenings also with guests from other boats. The yacht will be equipped with a steel sliding keel and an engine fixed on a pantograph.

Our constructor Jacek Daszkiewicz has applied an innovative shape of the hull bottom to make the yacht fast. We also assume very efficient (high) initial and final stability to ensure safety of sailing.

TECHNICAL DATA

PREMIERE 2017

The world premiere of Antila 24.4 took place at sailing fairs in Düsseldorf held from 21.01.2017 till 29.01.2017. Antila 24.4 is an interesting offer mainly for private shipowners – due to its easy one-person operation servicing. Nevertheless, thanks to its spacious interior, it is also appreciated by charter companies. The interior design is not much different from that of Antila 26. There is enough space for 6 full-size bunks, a kambuz and a toilet. The charter version can have additional folding bunks. The deck has been built with a focus on safe and comfortable sailing. All ropes (lines) for sails handling have been connected to the cockpit. The yacht is equipped with full stabilization of a mast together with a gate to lay it down, a rotational keel and a rudder blade vertically lifted (hoisted). A spacious cockpit and a relatively low superstructure ensure excellent sight distance while sailing. Antila 24.4 has received a reward for the best product in its class granted by the Polish Chamber of Marine and Water Sports. In a competition Land Rover Polish Yachts organized by the monthly magazine „Sails and Land Rover” it obtained the title of the Yacht of 2018.

The new product launched in 2012 by the Antila Shipyard from Radom was the sailing yacht 26CC – a gold medal winner at the Boatshow fairs 2012 in Łódź. This yacht was also granted the (First Prize) Main Reward in the category of Charter Yacht 2012 at the Mazovian Fairs of Water Sports in Giżycko.

The boat, whose style is fairly similar to that of Antila 27, has been designed by the construction team of Adam & Michał Orych. The new design of Antila 26CC is classical and futuristic at the same time. The boat looks marvelous from each side, particularly when you look at its shape with the chine of a hull and a water-line. This yacht, as any other Antila models, focus on safety as well as high comfort provided both in a cockpit and in a mess room.

Ergonomic, spacious and very carefully planned cockpit guarantees comfort during sailing and also during mooring. Wide half decks enable freedom of moving around the deck. Slender rigging with large area (surface) of the sails as well as modern shape of the hull guarantee very good nautical parameters. The innovations applied in the mesa room allowed for dividing the interior of the boat into a kambuz, a separate toilet compartment and two independent lockable cabins with double bunks (berths). Already at a first glance the yacht makes an impression of being a symbol of comfort. Antila 26CC is a product which was created with application (usage) of the best available materials – the luxury and stylish interior, comfortable seats, well constructed mattresses with perfectly made stitching, the best quality materials with alcantry upholstery and its elements in different colours. Application of LED type lighting makes the interior well-lighted at minimal energy consumption. The floor and the cockpit boarded with Teak (Tectona grandis) wood imported from Myanmar (Burma), India and Laos add to the complete feeling of luxury and comfort. We are proud of having created a yacht which satisfies even the most demanding tastes of sailors. Our yacht is manouevrable (good-turning), fast and safe both for private shipowners and for charter companies. Antila 26CC makes it possible to taste the world.

Antila 27 designed by the recognized European designers Michał and Adam Orych is a yacht whose idea has been based on a long-term experience of our designing team. It is a modern boat which follows the latest world trends. Attractive, dynamic body of the yacht is combined with ergonomic shaping of the deck and carefully elaborated details, which reflect discreet sport type elegance and sport characteristics.

The yacht is dedicated to both charter companies and private shipowners whose special requirements have been fulfilled by optimization of production with application (usage) of the latest available materials and technological solutions. Exceptionally easy operating and servicing of the boat is an effect of using sophisticated solutions and possibility of adding more options which would increase the boat’s standards. The interior of the yacht – 1,86m high – is large and arranged in such a way that it enables even up to 10 people to stay together in the mess room. The improved transverse stability allows for increasing the sails area (surface) and sailing speed even at lighter breeze, giving also the feeling of comfort and safety in more difficult conditions. The shape of the hull has been designed to enable reaching high speeds as well as good manoeuvrability (turning) and ease of steering – all of this providing real joy of sailing. Antila 27 is also produced in a full sea version for those who like to be particularly challenged.

Antila 33 is a continuation of the successful lines of Antila 27 and Antila 26CC which are appreciated both in Poland and at foreign markets. Modern and dynamic outline with a hull length of 10,5m and the characteristic chine of the hull make this yacht to be clearly distinguished from other vessels. Spacious and ergonomic cockpit with a fixed table and a separated steersman’s station (stand) with two steering wheels, together with easy sails handling make sailing by this yacht pleasant and comfortable for its captain and his crew. Asymmetrical companion way allows for easier rigging operating and much better interior arrangement. Three lockable cabins, each with a vestibule and a fairly large wardrobe, plus full-size bunks in the mess room allow for comfortable sailing even for a quite numerous crew. Enlarged kambuz, a toilet with a shower and non-collision communication in the yacht’s interior, also in the centerboard version – are the additional advantages that were possible to be achieved by using the asymmetrical companion way. Taking the best possible advantage of the yacht’s width and its relatively high ballast coefficient (ratio) enabled for providing very good transverse stability which in relation to the slender rigging, large area (surface) of the sails and optimum hull guarantee very good nautical parameters. Antila 33 is a proposal for those sailors who appreciate luxury and modernity on inland and sea waters.

Antila 33.3 review: The ideal lakeland explorer

Alison Wood

This Polish swing-keel boat with clever folding mast system is perfect for exploring the vast Masurian lakes

Lake sailing in Poland is very different to coastal sailing. In many ways it’s more relaxing. There are no tides to contend with and because you can find a marina or pontoon wherever you are, there’s no requirement to plan a day’s sailing. You can simply go where the wind takes you. When you’ve had enough, just beach-up or anchor in a creek.

antila yacht

Anchored in a creek in Masuria

But you need your wits about you too. Sailors have to be tuned-in to sudden wind shifts and lulls, blasts between islands that fizzle into nothing, or vice versa. Some lakes are so big you can barely see the shore, connected by canals so shallow it’s easy to run aground. Masts, keels and rudders go up and down all day – and this is where boat design gets clever. Self-charter is possible, but it certainly helps to have a local skipper… and a forgiving boat.

Dziewiata Lady M – our Antila 33.3 charter boat: Patrycja Tomala Photography

For our adventure with Undiscovered Sailing , our hosts Wojtek and Patrycja Tomala chose an Antila 33.3. Along with the Maxus, this is one of the most popular charter yachts on the lakes.

The Maxus is another popular charter boat on the Polish Lakes. Photo: Ali Wood

Antila Yachts is a Polish family-run business, producing boats from 24 to 33ft. One of the largest yachts you’ll see in the region, the Antila 33.3 has many features that make lake sailing easier. Whilst our boat Dziewiata [the 9th] Lady M didn’t come with a radio or electronics – nor even a wind indicator or compass, it did have a bow-thruster, diesel heating and a very nifty folding mast system.

antila yacht

The mast can go up or down in 10 minutes. Photo: Ali Wood

The latter is essential, because the 180 miles of waterways – stretching from the lower Vistula to the Russian border (Kaliningrad) – are connected by canals and rivers with low bridges. We raised and lowered our mast at least twice a day, and it was a simple task thanks to the clever pulley system, aided by an electric winch.

Usually the Antila 33.3 comes with a fully battened mainsail (28.1m2) and self-tacking jib (18.5m2). However, skipper Wojtek requested a larger (23m2), genoa for our trip knowing that we were keen sailors. A gennaker/ code zero is also an option.

Twin helms and a beautiful sunset! Photo: Ali Wood

During our five-day charter we only covered a quarter of the vast lake district. Wojtek chose the northern end of the lakes for us, which was quieter (we saw just a handful of boats) with more challenging sailing due to the many islands and narrow waterways.

Buoyage was limited, and there were protected nature reserves where engines were forbidden. Under full sail Dziewiata Lady M pointed high, sailed fast and was smooth and well balanced. Even with the larger foresail she was easy to tack and gybe.

With no instruments, we sailed by line-of-sight and trimmed the sails accordingly. Or, if we just felt like a blast, we sailed around the cormorant-inhabited islands, getting as close as we dared until Wojtek told us to tack. I especially loved the twin helms, enabling us to switch to the high side for better visibility.

Mast lowering

To get from one lake to another, or to visit one of the many charming Masurian towns, we had to negotiate road bridges. The first job was to lower the boom to the deck by releasing the lazyjacks.

Next, one of us would go to the bow to remove the forestay pin and lift the A-frame whilst the other released the mast purchase line in the cockpit. This needed to be done smoothly and at a consistent pace, keeping two turns on the winch. The lowered mast then rested on a frame at the stern. The process took no more than 10 minutes.

antila yacht

Once under the bridge, we’d do the same in reverse, taking care to check no lines had got caught under the mast step as it reconnected with the deck. Wojtek continually looked in front and behind. Electric winches are great, he told us, but you need to be careful to avoid snagging as it’s too easy to damage the rig. Indeed, on the day of our arrival we saw a sorry looking ‘banana mast’ in the boatyard waiting for repair (or scrap).

The boom is detached and lowered to the deck. Photo: Ali Wood

When we passed a yacht raising the mast manually, I was grateful for our electric winch. A crew on the coachroof was vigorously sweating the line to help the winchman in the cockpit. It looked like hard work!

On entering the canals we turned on the engine and lifted the rudder (which can draw as little as 45cm) and keel (which reduces draft from 1.85m to 0.6m). Once raised, the keel swings into a casing that forms part of the saloon table. If you hit an underwater object, the rudder and/or keel will kick-up automatically to prevent damage. This happened whilst I was helming on the canal to Wegorzewo. I moved to the side of the canal to let a vessel past and the rudder must have caught the bank.

antila yacht

We lifted the rudder as we nosed into a creek. Photo: Ali Wood

Antilla also makes a seagoing version of the Antila 33.3, which is CE category B as opposed to C, and has a fixed keel among other modifications.

Skippers typically moor stern-to in Poland, and fix the bow to a trot mooring retrieved with a boat hook. This is where the Vetus bow-thruster comes in handy. Dziewiata Lady M could easily ‘stand still’ whilst we grabbed the line, or waited for a boat to pass in tight quarters. With an open side, stern and bathing platform, the Antila 33.3 is an easy boat to access from the shore or (if the weather’s nice) the water after a dip.

Accommodation

Whilst in the Med or Caribbean you might typically charter a 38ft to 46ft yacht, we had plenty of space for the four of us on our 33-footer. Laura and I both had a double cabin at the stern and Wojtek and Patrycja shared a large, double-door cabin at the bow.

antila yacht

There’s room for two in each of the aft cabins

It would be tighter with six people (two in the saloon), but still comfortable with plenty of room for luggage in the lockers. Antila claims the boat can sleep up to 10 people with a maximum payload of 910kg. However, Undiscovered Sailing sensibly caps it at six.

antila yacht

The interior of the Antila 33.3 is light and spacious. Photo: Ali Wood

The saloon was spacious with a large table where we spent lively evenings drinking Polish cider and playing Skip-bo. Because of the pale wood finish, 1.95m ceiling and many windows, the boat let in lots of natural light and we didn’t turn on the LED spotlights until late.

Aside from a canal boat holiday I did last Autumn, this was the first time I’ve enjoyed central heating on a charter. Though the weather was mostly pleasant, we had a few rainy days and cool evenings. The diesel-fuelled Webasto heating was a very welcome addition.

antila yacht

Wojtek and Patrycja Tomala of Undiscovered Sailing

I was surprised by how little we used the Yanmar 21 HP engine to charge the batteries. We did top-up using shore-power in the marinas, but happily spent a night at anchor in a creek, and a full day either side, whilst still having plenty of power for lights, heating, fridge, bow-thruster, electric winch and head.

Not having to power up instruments helped, and for me, this was a big plus-point of chartering in the Polish lakes. It felt like a luxury version of dinghy or day-sailing in a giant harbour. We were surrounded by forest and reed-fringed islands. We rarely knew what time it was and had the freedom to sail where we wanted, and enjoy the scenery and wildlife without double-checking instruments or trying to push the boat for extra knots.

Much as I enjoyed our blustery sails, one of my favourite moments was actually being becalmed. In the busy Solent I’d have no doubt put the engine on, but in Masuria, we simply drifted in silence, feeling the warmth of the sun as it beat through the clouds and listening to a pair of cuckoos call out across the water. When you don’t know how fast you’re going and your destination isn’t important, you stop caring and learn to enjoy the moment, and Dziewiata Lady M is certainly the boat for day-dreaming and relaxation.

MINŐSÉG

Túravitorlások prémium megoldásokkal

Letisztult, modern fomák

Sportos menettulajdonságok

Mi megvalósítjuk álmait!

Az Antila Yachts hajógyár egy modern, 35 éves hajógyártói tapasztalattal rendelkező, professzionális vállalkozás, ahol egy 50 fős csapat, a 24 – 34 láb közötti méretkategóriában készíti középkategóriás túravitorlásait.

A gyár sportos tulajdonságokkal rendelkező tengeri és tavi túravitorlásai nagy népszerűségnek örvendenek Európa-szerte és 2018-tól, képviseletünkön keresztül megérkeztek Magyarországra is.

Termékpalettánk - a legújabb tervezési irányelvek alapján - az elmúlt 7 évben teljesen újjászületett.

Modern, skandináv dizájnt követő konstrukcióink főtervezője a Svédországban alkotó, lengyel származású Michal Orych.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

Tommy's Boats Statement on Lawsuit with Malibu

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 12, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Tommy’s Boats announced today the company has filed a federal lawsuit against its long-time OEM partner Malibu Boats for several unresolved business issues.

Tommy’s has been a provider of Malibu boats for over a decade. We are very appreciative of our incredible partnership over the years and for the dedication and hard work of Malibu’s employees. During this time, we have built relationships with customers and employees that are irreplaceable.

Unfortunately, after multiple attempts to resolve the issues between Tommy’s and Malibu, we were left with no choice but to allow the legal system to address the impasse. While we were disappointed in Malibu’s public comments this week that mischaracterized the issues and our relationship, we look forward to more productive discussions in court.

Tommy’s would like to thank the outstanding customers, employees, and many partners such as M&T Bank for their patience as we have worked through these issues. As always, our focus will be on servicing all customers, and continuing to build strong, lasting relationships as we move into the future.

Interested in a Clean Boats, Clean Waters grant?

Funding for the Clean Boats, Clean Waters program was provided by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. We anticipate having funds to support local aquatic invasive species outreach projects in the future. If you would like to be notified of future grant opportunities, sign-up on the Clean Boats, Clean Waters website to receive an email if funding is available in the future.

Since 2006, Clean Boats, Clean Waters has educated and engaged recreational watercraft users in behaviors that will limit or prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Aquatic invasive species are frequently spread unintentionally on boats and trailers and once introduced they can be difficult and expensive to manage. Boater education and engagement is one tool of many used in Michigan to address invasive species issues. This is the fourth year funds have been available through the Clean Boats, Clean Waters program to support local organizations.

The Michigan Clean Boats, Clean Waters program is a joint educational effort between Michigan State University Extension and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy .

Coast Guard gives recreational boats brief access to temporary channel at Key Bridge

boat yards yachts

On Tuesday, recreational vessels which have been trapped inside Baltimore’s harbor or prevented from entering it will be allowed to pass through one of the two temporary channels at the Key Bridge salvage site.

Transits will be permitted on one day only and time set aside for them will be brief: from 6:30-7:30 a.m. and 6-7 p.m. Additionally, the transits will be conducted in one direction at a time. The early-morning transit will be only for outbound vessels leaving Baltimore, and the late-day transit will be only for inbound vessels.

“It was always intended as a trial,” Petty Officer Michael Himes said Monday. “Tomorrow’s trial run will allow for our recovery branch to gather information on the feasibility of future openings.”

Both transits will be monitored by the Coast Guard, which will have escort vessels nearby to assist or direct traffic if needed.

The Baltimore Banner thanks its sponsors. Become one.

The designated temporary channel is located near Sollers Point on the north and east side of the main channel, which is still blocked by wreckage from the collapse of the Key Bridge and the freighter Dali. It will have a controlling depth of 11 feet.

Since the bridge collapsed March 26, only emergency vessels and a handful of commercial vessels have passed through what was one of the busiest waterways in the country.

Himes said while future openings are possible, there is no current plan for another passage for recreational vessels, describing the process of clearing the channel for vessel traffic as “highly dynamic and very complex.”

”We are aware of the hardships that everyone is going through,” he said.

On March 26, the Dali, a 984-foot-long ship loaded with about 2,700 containers, struck one of the main support piers of the bridge, which tumbled seconds later into the Patapsco River. Six construction workers repairing potholes were killed in the disaster .

More than 80 vessels of all types have transited both temporary channels. The Army Corps of Engineers has laid out an ambitious timeline to have a third, deeper channel with a depth of 35 feet open into the port by the end of April to restore more commercial access, and to fully reopen the port by the end of May.

Correction: This story was updated to correct that recreational boats will have limited access to the temporary channel only on Tuesday. After initially reporting this information, the Coast Guard then said that daily access would continue indefinitely starting Tuesday. On Monday, they corrected their statement, saying again that it would be open one day only, as a trial run.
