The Tampa Yacht & Country Club was founded in 1904 by the leading business and professional men of the city of Tampa. Three clubhouses have occupied this property on Ballast Point. The first building was constructed in 1905 at a cost of $7,000 and it was destroyed by fire on December 14, 1929. The second building was built in 1930 and burned down in December 1938. Our present clubhouse was constructed in 1939 at a cost of $40,000.

WELCOME TO DAVIS ISLAND YACHT CLUB

The Davis Island Yacht Club is a private, member-owned yacht club situated at the south end of Davis Islands in Tampa, Florida. The club sponsors a heavy schedule of sailing races, an active cruising fleet and a strong youth sailing organization.

"The principal purpose of the Club shall be to promote sailing in all its forms, to form a social nucleus with activities for people primarily interested in sailing, to develop and maintain active relationships with other sailing organizations, to promote racing and cruising for pure enjoyment, to promote safety on the water-ways, and to foster a spirit of good fellowship and helpfulness."

The 2024 Tampa Bay Hospice Cup Regatta and Morgan Invasion is scheduled for April 13, 2024.  The day will include some great sailboat racing or a fun day on the water followed up by a live auction, awards, and a lower deck dinner with live music.   In addition, during the racing, there will be an upstairs social event for invited TBHC sponsors.   It’s all to raise money for Tampa Bay Area Hospice support serving persons who are living with chronic and/or terminal illnesses, nearing the end of life, or experiencing grief.

This 9-event Series includes both Drop-Mark and Distance racing for Spinnaker A, B, and C divisions, plus Distance races for Racer-Cruiser, Cruising, and Multi-Hull.

New and old sailors alike gather on our beautiful Hillsborough Bay for a tradition unlike any other. Davis Islands' Thursday Night Series has been the biggest sailing series in the South. New sailors have learned the skills of the persons who were in their shoes years ago. Racing sailboats keeps us happy.

Interested in coming out to sail? Check the Thursday Night Racing page for more information. We race in mildly inclimate weather. We will not race in dangerous conditions. The Race Committee will make the decision to sail, or not to sail, no earlier than 6PM.

Skippers, please sign yourself and your crew up for RC duties here. Each skipper is expected to take one turn on RC.
