For Sale: Princess Yachts V65

The Princess Yachts V65 called Chony is currently listed with HMY Yacht Sales for $2.599 million. The 2019 build is penned for entertaining and extended-cruising comfort. Princess Yachts V Class yachts are express cruiser designs and are known for having seakindly deep-V hull forms and sporty performance.

Stepping onto the Princess V65’s swim platform, guests are immediately greeted by one of the yacht’s two sun pads. The aft sun pad sits atop the transom, backing up to the aft cockpit seating. The cockpit has a U-shaped settee aft with a folding table and loose chairs creating an alfresco dining space for up to six.

In the salon, there is a six-person U-shaped settee and ottoman to enjoy casual conversation after a day on the water. A hidden flat-screen TV is abaft the two-seat helm station. The salon has warm satin-finish walnut, enhanced further by an abundance of natural sunlight coming in via the waist-to-ceiling windows that surround it. There is also a retractable sunroof that has three settings to let the skipper dial in the desired amount of sunlight.

The galley, which is positioned aft and to port, has a window opening to the cockpit. The galley is equipped with a wine refrigerator, a sink, a garbage disposal, an electric cooktop and an oven. When the galley’s window and sliding glass door are open, spaces seemingly merge on the V65 as the cockpit flows into the open galley. There is also a dinette across from the galley.

Side decks with high rails provide safe passage to Chony ’s foredeck, which has a three-person U-shaped settee abaft a two-person adjustable sun pad. The lounge offers a quiet spot for serious rest and relaxation.

All of the V65’s sleeping accommodations are belowdecks. There is a full-beam owners’ stateroom amidships with a centerline queen berth, a flat-screen TV, a sofa and an en suite head. Forward of the master and to port is a guest stateroom with single bunks. A second guest stateroom is to starboard with twin berths that can be pushed together to form a double. The forepeak VIP stateroom has a queen berth and an en suite head.

Twin MAN V12 diesels provide power for Chony , giving it a reported top hop of 37 knots and a 29-knot cruising speed. The engines had 400-hour servicing completed by Ace Marine in Palm Beach, Florida.

Chony comes with a Seakeeper NG9 for smooth sailing. Other notable features include a Garmin electronics suite with two 18-inch GPSMAP 7616 multifunction displays, GMR624 xHD2 6 kW high-def radar with 4-foot open array, GHP20 marine autopilot, a GMI20 marine instrument, external GPS antennam Fusion Bluetooth head units and FLIR nightvision .

This Princess Yachts V65 also comes with a 21.5 kW generator, Lumishore underwater lights, a 50-foot shore-power cable extension and a reverse-osmosis SpotZero watermaker.

Buying a yacht is a big moment in someone’s life, usually because it is the culmination of a dream or reward for success. We live in a world where you can drive and fly to places, perhaps soon in the same vehicle . However, this great blue marble we call home is mostly water on the surface, so buying a yacht still represents a certain kind of freedom. You want to be able to travel to other shores, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy leisure and luxury many only dream of. Yet, there is a danger to romanticizing a decision like this. You can go bigger than you really need to. When smaller vessels, like the Princess V65 Yacht, can provide everything you could possibly need.

A Little About the Princess V65 Yacht

Before we get under the deck of the Princess V65 yacht, we should first learn where it came from. Below you will find a brief background into the company, the yacht, and how you might use it. Then we'll get into the nitty and gritty details. 

Who is Princess?

Princess yachts started out as a British manufacturer until 1981 when Graham J. Beck, a South African businessman, purchased the company. He later sold most of his stake to an investment firm run by Bernard Arnault. Today, they are a significant figure in the yachting world. With more than 2,600 employees in almost 120 countries, 1.1. million square feet of this Earth is occupied by their shipyards. Their fleet features a half-dozen different class ships, of which the Princess V65 yacht is, somewhat obviously, in the “V” Class.

The company enjoys a number of partnerships. Their relation to Mr. Arnault’s firm LVMH means they are connected to a number of luxury brands, lie Dior, Fendi, and about 60 others. They have also partnered with Viking yachts, a ship manufacturer in Florida. This allows U.S.-based Princess yacht owners to not suffer the inconveniences typical when your yacht is manufactured overseas. As a forward-looking company, Princess still tries to innovate. They’ve partnered with BAR Technologies to release a new class of small, carbon-fiber yachts. They were also the first yacht builder to collaborate with the Marine Conservation Society to help sustain threatened marine environments.

What Are the Classes of Princess Yachts?

As mentioned above, the Princess V65 yacht is a member of the V Class of ships. These are sports yachts which vary from 42 feet to 66 feet, stem-to-stern. While this is a smaller yacht, it’s not the smallest they have. This would be the new R Class, the 35-foot racing yacht that will be the result of the partnership with BAR Technologies. They also offer flybridge yachts ranging from 47 to 69 feet as their F Class, which are similar in size to the V Class which features a cockpit. The S Class is a sportsbridge yacht that can run from 62 to 80 feet in length. The M Class and the Y Class are the larger yachts, running anywhere from 80 to 131 feet in length.

What Makes the Princess V65 Yacht So Ideal?

A large yacht brings with it bigger troubles, in most cases. You will need a crew. It will be more difficult to find a place to make port, and there are maintenance and fuel costs. The Princess V65 Yacht is large enough that you can entertain or travel in luxury. However, the innovative design allows for this smaller yacht to have a large luxury liner feel. Space, always at a premium, is maximized for comfort and efficiency both above and below decks. The helm is simple to operate, and the engine room is accessible from the crew cabin. At most, all you’d ever need are two crew members, but many yachters could pilot this on their own. Especially thanks to the Princess Lifeline program, which provides around-the-clock SOS services for medical, security, or travel safety emergencies. The Princess V65 yacht strikes the perfect balance between small, do-it-yourself yachts and the big luxury superyachts that demand a crew complement.

The Features and Benefits of the Princess V65 Yacht

The Princess V65 yacht is a ship worthy of glamorous parties in the port of some tropical locale or a quiet family vacation on peaceful seas. The innovative and clever design gives the yacht versatile character. Yet, the on-deck amenities and comfortable quarters spell nothing but luxury for any passengers.

1. Accommodations

Many things separate a yacht from a boat, but the main thing is accommodations. A yacht is a ship but it can also serve as a home away from home. The Princess V65 yacht doesn’t disappoint when it comes to giving its owners and their guests a comfortable place to rest.

Below deck there is a central lobby, where the rooms and the guest bathroom are easily accessible. Toward the bow sits the forward stateroom. A spacious suite offering beautiful ocean views and a comfortable place to sleep. It has its own fully-equipped bathroom. There are two guest rooms, one with a set of twin beds and the other with a set of bunks.

Finally, there is the Owner’s bedroom, a large suite with as spacious a bathroom as you get. Each room can house two people, meaning the ship can comfortably fit a party of eight, so long as people are willing to share. Opposite the engine room is the crew cabin, featuring a pair of bunk beds.

2. On-Deck Amenities

Space comes at a premium on this yacht, so things like on-deck gym equipment or two saloons are not found on the Princess V65 yacht. However, this yacht helps to show why such things are extraneous. The yacht has an aft sunbed, which lies in front of the garage for storing jet skis or other watercraft. Atop that space sits a cushioned sun pad. In front of this is the galley and saloon area. At one sits the dining table and the other a seating area more suited to drinks before or after dinner. The galley is equipped with a four-zone ceramic hob, full-height refrigerator and freezer, and a dishwasher. There are two stainless steel sinks and a mixer tap, along with plenty of storage in cupboards and drawers.

The saloon’s roof, doors, and walls can open up to the air, so you and your guests can enjoy the balmy weather. It also can seal up tight so you can enjoy the surround-sound audio system and 49-inch television. The helm station and cockpit sits there, with easy access to the bathing platform from two transom gates. There is a wetbar and a barbecue station, and waterproof speakers as well. Beyond this is a foredeck seating area, and another sun pad at the bow of the ship. You can lie there and watch as the shoreline or the open ocean on the horizon rises forth to meet you.

3. Design and Furnishings

The yacht is designed by Bernard Olesinski, so it has a very precision sportscar feel to it, both in how it looks and how it handles on the water. The hull is comprised of a complex system of fiberglass stringers and web frames under a solid fiberglass laminate. The ship’s infrastructure, from the hull sides to the decks, are reinforced with closed-cell foam. With sleek lines and no wasted space, the Princess V65 yacht cuts a sleek figure dashing across the ocean surface.

There is no wasted space, but the modular design allows for spaces to feel larger than they are. The furnishings are relatively simple and spartan. There is no space wasted, so the design is not frivolous. Still, it’s clean and comfortable, and will be a space you will be comfortable in no matter what you are doing.

4. Technical Details and Crew

The crew cabins are optional but could fit two total but it’d be tight accommodations. The ship isn’t difficult to pilot, and there are no special maintenance needs. The ship is powered by twin MAN V12-1400 diesel engines, which get the Princess V65 yacht up to around 38 knots. At that speed, the ship could travel about 300 nautical miles. There is a reversible electric anchor with controls at both the foredeck and the helm. The 88-pound Delta anchor comes with 40 meters of chain and is self-stowing. The navigation system is state-of-the-art, including color radar, GPS, autopilot, and more. The two displays make it all very easy to keep up with. 

The Princess V5 yacht has less than one-and-half meters of draft, so it can travel in fairly shallow waters. The power-assisted electro-hydraulic steering system comes with a hydraulic back-up, and the engine and gear shift controls are fully electronic. There are four heavy-duty batteries for starting the engine and another four heavy duty batteries for auxiliary power. There is a 13.5 kW diesel generator, which has its own battery for starting up. The ship can hold slightly more than 900 gallons of fuel in its twin tanks, which can be filled from points on the port and starboard side decks.

The Princess V65 yacht is well-reviewed across the board. Reviewers like the way the yacht handles on the water, feeling like a racing boat. The versatile galley offers plenty of options for on-ship meals. However, the size of the yacht makes it less difficult to port somewhere and go for a meal on the town. The guest rooms are comfortable, offering privacy and comfort. The main deck feels much bigger than it is with sun pads on either end, plenty of seating, and an open saloon. A party of eight, even if its four couples, could feel the twinges of cabin fever on a long trip. Entertaining, more than 20 people and things would feel crowded. But, with the right people, it’s a great space for a party or a luxurious way to take a voyage.

Alternatives to the Princess V65 Yacht to Consider

The Princess V65 yacht seems like the prefect vessel. Comfortable, plenty of amenities, and easy to captain. However, everyone’s tastes are different, and people have different needs. If this yacht doesn’t meet them, fret not because there are other options out there for you. Check out these below or our coverage of the best yachts on the water today.

1. Princess V40

If your problem with Princess V65 yacht is that it’s still too big, then the Princess V40 might be more your style. It’s a V-Class ship, but it’s smaller by about 20 feet. There is both a sunpad and a saloon with a wetbar on the main deck, near the cockpit. The galley is below, with another saloon for dining indoors. There is a master bedroom and a guest bedroom, but you’ll not fit more than four people comfortable. There is also no room for crew and even less need for them than on the V65. You’ll not lose (or gain) any speed, as the V40 tops out at 38 knots. Still, if you want a small, cozy yacht this is the V Class ship for you.

2. Acico Yachts Nassima

Built by Acico Yachts, the Oliver Van Meer-designed Nassima is a slower vessel than the Princess V65 yacht, but it has more range. Its top speed is only 17 knots with a cruising speed of 14 knots. However, at 10 knots, it can travel much farther than the V65, including across the Atlantic. There is room on the yacht for a car and two motorcycles, without sacrificing a spacious sun deck. There is a large personal gym and a stateroom on the upper deck. There are VIP and guest cabins below deck. There is also room for a crew complement of ten or so. If you want your yacht for distance travel, this is one you should take a closer look at.

3. Fifth Ocean Destiny

This is an older model, from 2014, but nonetheless impressive and luxurious. An ideal choice if you’re more concerned about creature comforts and throwing yacht parties . It’s a slow yacht with limited range, so really only good for shorter trips. Still, the interior is designed to truly feel like a home, with spacious cabins, high-tech entertainment amenities, and dining space for as many as 15 people. At night, you can turn on the underwater camera to fall asleep to the dark, soothing waters beneath you.

The Princess V65 yacht may be the perfect way to have the feel of a large, luxury super-yacht but small enough to manage on your own.

While you may not be heading down to Australia or across the Atlantic in the Princess V65 yacht, that doesn’t matter. This is the perfect yacht for someone who likes to get away when they can but isn’t looking to run away from it all. The bigger ships, especially those that go greater distances, are often saddled with inconveniences on par with the world you’re trying to get away from. With the Princess V65 yacht, you could have a relaxing evening by the dock, zip up the coast for the weekend, or even take an extended trip to the Bahamas. It’s as easy as getting in, powering her up, and driving her away.

Princess Yachts V65

The all-new Princess V65 Express Yacht is the largest model in the V-series and is built with the yacht owner in mind that enjoys cruising, but also wants a powerful and maneuverable vessel. The unique deep-V hull shape allows the boat to cut through the water with ease delivering a stable platform when underway. Stability is important as well when entertaining guests which the V65 has a plethora of opportunities on board for dining, conversing, or relaxing with the view. The Princess V65 can comfortably fit eight people on board for overnight trips, but with a bow sun lounge, a spacious aft cockpit, and an interior that is large than most 70-foot motor yachts, you may go hours without ever seeing everyone on board.

Starting with the transom, owners and guests will love the hydraulic swim platform that lowers into the water creating your own private beach “deck” and has additional lounge seats in back. The aft cockpit features a U-shaped seat that can seat 6 comfortably, a dining table, and two additional chairs. The salon doors slide open revealing the galley which is placed aft and the interior dining table and seating. With the salon doors open, serving drinks and food from the galley to everyone in the aft cockpit is easy via the serving bar. Forward of the galley and dining area is another U-shaped couch in front of a flat screen television and the interior helm station. Lots of natural light fills the salon from the panoramic windows port and starboard, and the massive sunroof overhead that opens up the entire boat.

Below deck there are four staterooms and three heads, all of which are incredibly comfortable and spacious. The master suite is amidships and stretches the entire beam of the boat. A double berth is center with a couch portside and additional cabinets and storage starboard side. The en suite master bath and closet walk-in closet together run the full beam as well and feature plenty of room for two people to move around. The VIP stateroom is placed forward in the bow and also has a double berth and its own private head. Two additional staterooms are between the master and VIP, one with over-under bunks and the other with side-by-side beds. Both of these staterooms share the day head. For the owner that wishes to bring along a captain, there is a crew quarters aft next to the engine room that has its own head and small galley station.

Below deck, eight guests enjoy four beautifully appointed cabins all bathed in natural light from elegant hull glazing, with the option of a further single cabin aft for occasional guests or crew.
