How to Play Phasmophobia on Oculus Quest
Scary games are extremely fun to play, but have you tried playing one in VR?
If not, Phasmophobia is the ideal game to begin with. This ghost-hunting simulator keeps the players on their toes while providing an enjoyable experience simultaneously. Phasmophobia is playable in several VR headsets, including the Oculus Quest 2.
If you plan on playing the game on Quest 2, here’s how you can do so without facing any hiccups. Keep reading!
What Is Phasmophobia?
Phasmophobia is a four-player co-op game that falls under the psychological horror genre. The game is available for purchase on Steam and has gained popularity in recent months.
Unlike other horror games, Phasmophobia focuses on ghost hunter simulation, where you get to partner up with your friends to find ghosts. It takes place in a first-person perspective, which is a new take on ghost-hunting simulators. The overall idea of the game is to gather evidence or clues and figure out what type of ghost haunts the property.
If you make the right guess, you get additional pay, which can then be used to buy better ghost-hunting equipment. The game offers realistic gameplay with tools such as EMF readers, spirit boxes, smudge sticks, salt, and thermometers.
In certain properties, you may even find an ouija board, which can help you communicate with the spirit. However, it can also trigger the ghost to begin hunting, so you might want to use the board strategically.
The game is available in both PC and VR versions, with the PC version being much calmer. On the other hand, the VR version might need the players to be braver since the ghosts look a lot more realistic. Of course, the last thing you want is to be locked in a haunted house with an overly-realistic ghost. But it makes the horror game much more enjoyable!
Since there are over ten types of ghosts with various abilities, the game won’t turn boring anytime soon. You’ll always be alarmed when the lights start flickering in the middle of your investigation!
Can You Play Phasmophobia on Oculus Quest?
Whether or not you can play this popular horror game on Oculus Quest is a common question. The answer is yes; you can most definitely play the game on the Quest headset. However, Phasmophobia is only available on Steam, so you cannot download it directly from the Oculus Quest store.
Phasmophobia was initially released with a couple of bugs and glitches that made setting it up with a VR headset a difficult task. By April 2022, Phasmophobia fixed this issue, and Kinetic Games made the VR mechanics a lot smoother, which made the setup process easier. The game runs smoothly on any kind of VR headset, wired or wireless, which is definitely a plus.
It is quite simple to begin playing Phasmophobia on your Oculus Quest 2 headset. Let us take a detailed look at how to play Phasmophobia on Oculus Quest.
How To Play Phasmophobia On Oculus Quest 2
As mentioned, Phasmophobia can be played on the Oculus Quest 2 in two methods; wired and wireless. Though the wired headset connection might be easier to set up, some may prefer the freedom wireless connections give. We’ll take a look at both options.
Before you begin connecting the headset to your PC, ensure that the computer meets all Oculus Link PC requirements. At the bottom of the page, you will find a list of GPU-compatible hardware, which can be used as a reference to check your PC compatibility.
Once you’ve made sure everything is compatible with the Oculus Link, you can enable the Oculus Link option and begin connecting your headset.
Playing With A Wired Headset Connection
To connect your headset to the PC, you will need a link cable, which is usually available in most electronic stores. Attach either end of the cable to your PC and your Oculus Quest headset. This will allow you to stream/play the game on the VR headset with the help of your computer.
Once you’ve connected the wire, open the Oculus app. After turning the headset on, connect the headset to the computer via the link cable or a USB C cable. Plug the other end of the cable into a 3.0 USB port on your computer.
After this, you will receive a prompt in the Oculus app to “Allows access to data.” Make sure you deny the prompt, and in case you accept it accidentally, unplug the headset and redo the entire process.
You will receive another pop-up asking you to “Enable Oculus Link.” Click “Enable,” which would begin the remote rending process through the Oculus Link. Now, just open Steam, download, and launch Phasmophobia to begin playing.
Although the wired connection is easy to set up, it can be quite limiting when it comes to movement. However, getting a 5-meter Link cable can temporarily solve this problem and give you enough freedom to move around. When playing Phasmophobia VR, people usually opt for a wired headset as it eliminates the possibility of any interference, input delays, texture issues, and game lag.
Playing With A Wireless Headset Connection
To play Phasmophobia on the Oculus Quest 2 wirelessly, you will need the Air Link feature of Oculus. The Air Link feature enables you to play the game on Steam without the need for any additional cables or wires. Though this feature is still undergoing development, it is a fun tool to experiment with and play Phasmophobia. Here are the steps to playing Phasmophobia wirelessly on Oculus Quest 2.
Begin by downloading the PC Oculus Quest 2 application from the Oculus website, and log in using either Facebook or your Oculus account. In the app, open the Oculus app settings, select the “Beta tab,” and enable the Air Link button. Your PC is now ready to be paired.
Proceed to your Oculus Quest 2 headset and open up its settings page. In the settings page, you will find the Experimental Features tab, selecting which you can toggle on the Air Link feature. Once your PC and Quest 2 headset are set up, open Steam, press play Phasmophobia VR, and enjoy!
When you toggle on the Air Link on both devices, it automatically connects with each other, enabling you to play the game through a wireless connection. Though it is a useful tool, the Air Link feature does have its drawbacks.
The major drawback is the fact that it depends on Wi-Fi, which means a drop in the network will result in your gaming experience being compromised. It can also result in unnecessary lags and cause texture problems, making the overall game look unpleasant.

Phasmophobia On Oculus Quest: Rumors
As you may know by now, Phasmophobia is not available on the Oculus store and cannot be played directly on Quest 2. Since you can easily sync your PC to the headset via a cable or wirelessly to play the game, Kinetic Games doesn’t plan on releasing it on Oculus soon.
However, sources have come across a Trello board that mentioned Phasmophobia under a list of “backlogs” goals. This may be an indication that there are chances of the game being released on the Oculus store or the Oculus Quest 2.
Although you will have to keep in mind that it is under a category called “backlogs” and might not be a priority. So, you may have to depend on your Link cables and Air Link connections to play Phasmophobia instead of waiting for a Quest-specific release.
By the end of 2021, a VR rework was mentioned as a part of the 2022 Major Update Roadmap. This also includes the shift from SteamVR to OpenXR, along with an update for the unity engine.
Oculus is also working on the Oculus Quest 3 (or Meta Quest 3), which leaves people hoping to see Phasmophobia on the platform. Another reason why Phasmophobia on Quest 3 might work is because of the immense success the game garnered in Quest 2.
Additionally, one of the developers from Kinetic Games mentioned on Twitter that they do wish to release the game on Quest 2. However, they plan to do so only after early access.
Phasmophobia is a game that is getting popular by the minute, and VR only enhances its appeal. If you own an Oculus Quest 2 headset, the good news is you can easily set it up and play the game on it. Irrespective of whether you are using it with a wired connection or wireless, the overall game experience is impressive.

Paranormal Hunter Co-Op Ghost Hunting Game With Optional VR Announced
A new co-op ghost hunting game is in the works, with Paranormal Hunter providing a VR and standard screen cross-play experience.
While some games, like Among Us , have taken some time to become viral hits, Phasmophobia took off nearly immediately. Game streamers flocked to the title in time for Halloween of 2020, bringing attention to the game and propelling it to become a smash hit. While plenty are still enjoying Phasmophobia , it may have some competition starting next year.
An upcoming ghost hunting title by the name of Paranormal Hunter has been announced. The co-op game is in development by EALoGames, with members of the dev teams for Shenmue and Shin Megami Tensei working on it.
RELATED: Sons of the Forest Horror Game Gets Disturbing New Trailer and Release Date
A brief teaser trailer has released for Paranormal Hunter , giving players a sneak peek into what kind of terror will await them when the game hits early access in Q2 of 2022. Up to four players can participate in hunting ghosts , aided by various paranormal artifacts and tools to help spot - or drive away - ghosts.
Like Phasmophobia , Paranormal Hunter will let PC players choose between playing on a screen, or putting on a VR headset to become fully immersed in the horror. Cross-play between the two gaming styles will also be available, so friends without VR headsets don't get left out. The game will also be coming to consoles, though, with PS4, PS5, and Switch versions planned. At the moment, there are no plans to incorporate PSVR from the PlayStation 4, but the PS5 PSVR headset currently in development may be a different matter, whenever it comes to fruition.
For the moment, it's unclear if players are setting out to destroy the vengeful spirits they encounter, or to simply document them and escape, akin to Phasmophobia . However, it is noted that players will have to contend with locked doors and blocked passageways, so searching the environment for tools and puzzle solving may come into play.
It will be interesting to see if Phasmophobia and Paranormal Hunter can co-exist, or if one ends up surpassing the other. While Phasmophobia isn't as overwhelmingly popular as it was a year ago, the game is still receiving regular content updates that add new locations and spirits to face. It recently received a Halloween update, and it's speculated that a Phasmophobia will get a Christmas update in the near future, as well. While players will likely be intrigued by a new spooky experience, it'll be crucial for Paranormal Hunter to launch with enough content to keep players occupied.
While some major studios continue to produce AAA horror games, like with Capcom's Resident Evil Village , smaller game devs are also hard at work at bringing horror to players' consoles and PCs. Between the recent return of Fatal Frame to the west, titles like Wronged Us bringing the Silent Hill vibe back to life, and now Paranormal Hunter , there should be plenty for horror game enthusiasts to enjoy going forward.
Paranormal Hunter is slated to release in early access in Q2 of 2022.

Ghostbusters VR for Quest 2 will let you hunt ghosts alongside friends
Four-player co-op on the streets of San Francisco.
What you need to know
- Ghostbusters VR is a 4-player co-op ghost hunting game for Quest 2 announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase.
- Players will run a new Ghostbusters HQ in San Francisco with the goal of protecting the city from fiendish ghosts.
- Ghostbusters VR is slated for release sometime later in 2022.
If you're tired of hunting zombies but still want to play four-player co-op VR games, Ghostbusters VR might just suit your style when it releases for Quest 2 later this year. As you might imagine, Ghostbusters VR puts players in the shoes of a professional Ghostbuster who's aim is to collect nuisance ghosts in their trusty back-worn proton pack.
Ghostbusters VR was announced at the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase but the trailer was only a gameplay representation of the final product, not actual gameplay. Still, in the trailer below, you'll see a scene that feels right out of a Ghostbusters movie complete with goofy one-liners and crazy ghosts, alike. The game is expected to launch on Oculus Quest 2 and other popular VR headsets.
As you might expect, each encounter will be unique, with ghosts of all shapes, sizes, and abilities trying to outwit you and your crew of four as you gallivant around the streets and buildings of San Francisco attempting to trap them for good. The story is said to unravel a deep mystery across the Ghostbusters universe, so this one isn't just a nonsense mission-to-mission style game with no real cohesive plot, despite the four-player co-op facade.
Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and nDreams are putting the game together, following a long line of great VR titles. nDreams most recently released Fracked on PSVR and PC VR and has Little Cities coming out soon on Oculus Quest 2. They previously released one of the best Quest 2 games , Phantom: Covert Ops on PSVR and Quest 2.
The Meta Quest 2 regularly busts preconceptions about VR, making it both fun and affordable to really get into the game.

It features 8 unique modes, including dictionary mode, draw mode, energy mode, phonetic mode, and proximity sensing and more, all designed to help you connect with entities in a variety of ways.
No random words were harmed (or even used) in the making of this device.
The device works by scanning through environmental readings and correlates those with a list of words and phrases, and more. Utilizing a combination of precision sensors to detect changes in the environment it allows ghosts to communicate with us precisely. As a result, the Ovilus 5 is able to convert these environmental readings into words, making it quick and easy for investigators to gather evidence during investigations.
The Ovilus Formula - The Standard for Spirit Communication
Ovilus has been teaching spirits what activity produces what words for almost two decades. Our own language, if you will. This long-standing formula has never changed and that codex continues in this new model. The readings-to-word system specifically chooses a word based on specific readings. As such, it has never used any kind of random generation.
You might consider the Ovilus a "secret sauce" that no other device can match. For over 15 years as more people have used the Ovilus, we have been essentially "teaching" entities what environmental changes or combinations can produce what word. As such, Ovilus will always continue this linguistic formula as a standard nomenclature exclusive to the Ovilus since inception.
The Ovilus 5 is highly beneficial for investigators as it provides quick and easy access to evidence during investigations, saving investigators time and effort. It is also easy to use, making it accessible for investigators of all levels of experience.
The Ovilus is designed to supply you with many different ways to experiment: Dictionary Words, Drawing, True/False and Phonetic Mode are all designed for ITC research and experimentation. Proximity and Energy modes detect energy while Motion mode detects motion and vibration. All three screens are designed to easily visualize and understanding changes in the environment.
- Dictionary Mode
One of the most notable features of the Ovilus 5 is its Dictionary Mode, which is specifically designed to help investigators communicate with spirits. In this mode, the device selects words from a set of dictionary words that correlate with environmental readings, creating a form of automatic writing in digital form.
In this mode, you will be able to see and hear words chosen based on environmental readings. Chosen words will be displayed immediately on the screen and an audible voice will be heard. When energy changes are detected, the magnitude of the change is used to select 1 of 2048 predefined words. This form of communication is based on the ITC theory that spirits may be able to manipulate ambient energy and associating those fluctuations with words. As such, Ovilus does not employ any form random generation.
Ovilus also includes a Log Mode for viewing the full list of spoken words. This mode is helpful for checking the list of words voiced during Dictionary Mode sessions.
In Draw Mode, the Ovilus 5 detects and converts changes in the environment into colored pixels on the screen, allowing investigators to potentially capture images a spirit might want to illustrate in their communication. Ovilus will draws blocks across the screen in colors derived from environmental readings. This mode is a different method of ITC providing a visual that have the potential show us images or pictures.
- Energy Mode
Energy Mode displays a graph of EMF energy designed to detect changes in the electromagnetic field, which is believed to be a sign of spirit activity. Energy level readings will be shown in a sine wave style similar to an oscilloscope. Showing the wave allows you to visualize how dynamic energy fields are rather than only showing an averaged number like a magnetometer (EMF meter) does. While Energy Mode may appear to respond to vibration, it is actually responding static and electromagnetic field changes as it moves.
Motion and Proximity Modes
Utilizing the built in accelerometer this mode displays motion fluctuations enabling small movements to be visualized. Motion Mode allows you to visualize vibration and touch, a great way to detect movements such as footsteps or moving objects.
The Proximity Mode detection motion which is perfect for capturing activity in a specific area or room, allowing investigators to easily pinpoint areas of interest during an investigation. Energy levels display in a radial graph. Proximity Mode is similar to Energy Mode in the data it processes. But it allows for a different view and a proximity trigger.
- Phonetic Mode
Maybe you want the ability to allow entities to form words not set in the dictionary. No problem. Speech is formed from a set of sounds, or phonetics. This mode allows you to gather a collection of sounds that may produce words beyond the dictionary such as names, places, slang and other languages. In Phonetic Mode there are not even predefined words - just the building blocks of speech themselves.
True / False Mode
This mode measures energy to provide Yes/Now or True/False readout. True or False Mode is designed to create a green light based on energy readings increasing and a red light based on them decreasing. This is a quick and easy way to get simple bi-polar responses, on the fly such as Yes/No, Good/Bad, Male/Female. The opportunities are endless.
Settings at Your Fingertips
A Settings Mode screen allows for full control of different aspects of Ovilus. For instance, you can change the volume, mute the speaker, clear logs and set the dictionary voice to your (or the ghost's) preference. With simple touch screen functionality you can navigate easily to the settings you need at your fingertips.
The Power of Ovilus
In summary, the Ovilus 5 is an essential tool for any investigator looking to communicate with spirits during paranormal investigations with ease and clarity. With its advanced technology and user-friendly interface, the Ovilus 5 is a must-have for any serious ghost hunter.

Quick Start Guide
Ovilus converts environmental readings into words, drawings, true/false, phonetics and more. The Ovilus 5 is the latest in our equipment line based on the original Ovilus and all preceding ITC devices by Digital Dowsing and Bill Chappell. The primary goal of the device is to help facilitate communications with spiritual entities allowing them a quick way to communicate.
Charging and Power
Ovilus 5 uses a rechargeable, long-life internal battery. Use a USB-Mini to USB cable to charge the device.
Charging is complete when the charging icon no longer appears on the screen and shows just the green battery icon.
To reduce charge times we recommend a 1AMP (1000MaH). Please note that charge times will be extended if charged through a standard USB port of a computer. Charge times will vary from 1-10 hrs or longer if using less than a 1AMP charger. Run times will range from 12 to 20hrs depending on mode, settings and amount of hits.
Upon first turning on the device, a user friendly Home Menu allows you to quickly jump into a mode of your choosing. Using the touch screen, simply tap the icon indicating the mode you wish to use.
From top-left to bottom right:
- True False Mode
- Motion Mode
- Proximity Mode
To get back to the Home Menu at any time, just press the red home button on the bottom left of any mode screen.
The Ovilus V in Dictionary Mode will show the last 3 words voiced. To access a complete log of the words spoken from the Home Screen tap on the Log Mode to see a longer list.
To change the voice gender or language return to the Home Screen and go to the Settings Mode then click on Audio. You will be presented with a number of options including volume, voice and language choices.
Keep in mind, just like doing EVP and other ITC work, nothing is instant or guaranteed to produce results. Beyond that, Ovilus NEVER uses random generators.
Note: During normal operation the Ovilus will voice many words. This is natural changes in the envirionment around the Ovilus triggering the voice. If this keeps up, try taking it to another area to settle it down and begin communication.
This page only includes a brief on the extensive usage. We are working to add more directions to this web site as we continue to bring Ovilus into our product line. For a word list, see Digital Dowsing for the word lists and some additional directions. However, the directions via that link are for the older model Ovilus 5A. Some features and processes are different on the newer 5B . The word list remians the same.

Yes it’s expensive but worth it. There’s not another device with such quality results. If you want a trustworthy daily driver with long battery life, this is for you.
A must have paranormal tool!

So happy that Bill Chappell has come aboard with Ghoststop to revive the Ovilus 5. There is a lot of technology packed into such a small box. It has 7 different features, allowing you to practically do a whole investigation with this one device. Yes it is expensive but worth the cost. I noticed that response seem more accurate when the Ovilus is placed somewhere stationary. If you hold it and walk around with it, the motion creates false positives . Thank you to the Ghoststop customer service people who assisted me.

This little device works amazing. I had an investigation at the famous Oman house by the Sharon Tate murders and this was spot on when asking questions.. and so accurate that i asked how many people are in the room and it said 11 and we counted and yes there was exactly 11 people in the room

I recently Investigated Sweet Springs Sanitarium, I used the Ovilus 5 and was surprised by its accuracy, 5 minutes into the basement near the Slave Quarters, the Ovilus 5 Belted out the word “Slaves”.

Love this device. It does so much more than just spit out words. So helpful in an investigation
Like it so far
Posted by Crystal Groth on Oct 3rd 2023
I took it out a couple of times and I like it so far. I took it to the graveyard and visited my grandparents grave. It said candle then I looked down and saw that my grandmothers bday was the next day. I noticed that it works better when you set it down. If you hold it you get more words so I think affects the results.

Very interesting device. I took it out to a place where i walk the dog , there is a memorial there for a lady who had her ashes scattered nearby. The yes/no energy was constantly rising to the ' increase' or ' yes ' indicator. The energy setting which i believe is emf detection was also showing a rise in the wave form. The dictionary mode gave some interesting responses too. I also had a spell of activity in my home last night about 1 am when i was watching TV. The temperature definitely dropped as i was lying on the sofa so selected the energy setting and the emf detection waves/ distortion were evident. The dictionary mode then said ' Grandma' ' and 'Watch', It stayed around and after a while i noticed a definite shift back to a 'warmer' room temperature.

The Ovilus 5 delivers pretty spot-on results. Or at least on the few investigations we've done. We're really liking it and will be considering another unit or two to add to our team so we can spread out our during our investigations.

Love All What Ovilus Offers
Posted by Brett on Sep 7th 2023
Received mine in late August. Shipping was very fast! Had a chance to test it out in my favorite old cemetery. Got some responses like "casket, cement, and got the number 9 right after I asked how many spirits were with me". I also love the true or false (yes or no), and vibration feature. Both got good responses. Still haven't tested out the other functions but I plan on it soon.

I just got in the mail my new Ovilus. I am excited to test it in the field on our investigations. Definitely will recommend to anyone.

I love my new Ovilus 5. I have been waiting for 5 years to purchase one and believe me, it has been everything I hoped it would be. The very first time I turned it on n, my husband took a picture of it so I could send it to friends. Immediately after he took it, a succession of words came up including CAMERA. We have spirits in our home and they have been busy talking through the Ovilus since it came. Don’t hesitate to buy. It is well worth the money.

This device is absolutely amazing, it immediately started showing us that it is actually communicating with something and not just randomly saying words. It will say what is happening around it randomly during sessions as if it was providing proof it's an entity talking with us. It started saying the name of my partners grandmother who had passed away and said the Latin word for drainage then joke just before we had a washer leak during a cycle (it hadn't done this before or since.). This device also told me to walk slower just as I tripped and almost fell in a reportedly haunted cemetery. I'm convinced it is legit and am very happy to have gotten one before they sold out.

This is really an amazing gadget . Love all the functions and how it captures any movement, voice sound for Evps and foot steps I believe it's for . I'm very happy with it and look forward to future uses

Just arrived today and have gotten some interesting results already. Have heard: Liberty-name of nearby church, Coffin, funeral, fire, run. Church burned in 1985 from electrical panel fire. Train - as one was passing through and the kicker I heard Johnny which is my nickname. So far I'm totally impressed with it. Have also heard other thimgs but these are the one's that have special meanings for me.

This is one of the coolest machines for ghost hunting! I can see why now so many want this. I'm so amazed. Fast finger tip response. I love it. Now it's time for ghost hunting! Honestly it's high-tech equipment, for serious ghost hunters. I love it!

Ghostbusters VR is coming to the Oculus Quest 2
Who you gonna call?
Are you ready to bust some ghosts? Well, you better be as Ghostbusters VR is coming to the Oculus Quest 2 (now Meta Quest 2) later this year.
This immersive new game is based on the film franchise of the same name and was announced as part of the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase .
Much like the heroes from the classic flicks, you and a team of ghost-catching aficionados must venture into spooky locales to eradicate the undead infestations.
Based on the trailer, it looks like you can do it while wearing a range of colorful costumes:
Beyond the fact that we'll be throwing on proton packs and hunting down ghosts, there's not much else we know right now as Mark Zuckerberg revealed this as the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase's finale piece - the 'one more thing' announcement.
The event ended once the trailer finished playing, leaving no time for the host to tell us anything more than what we saw in the one-minute-long clip of footage.
That said, we expect we won't be waiting too long before we hear more about Ghostbusters VR. That's because at the beginning of the event the host said we'll be playing all of these games within the year.
With a 2022 or early 2023 release date on the cards, there are only so many days left before we'll have Ghostbusters VR in our hands.
So, be on the lookout for more Ghostbusters VR news over the coming months, and be sure to check back here every so often. As soon as we hear anything we'll be sure to update you on all the latest about the best VR games out there.

Ghostbusters VR Game Coming To Quest 2 & PS VR2 In 2023
Expand your ghost-hunting empire while taking on all manner of supernatural threats.
Originally announced this past April during the 2022 Meta Gaming Showcase , nDreams’ upcoming Ghostbusters VR game has received an official title and release window. The news was dropped earlier today as part of the Kinda Funny Halloween live stream , during which Sony shared more information about the cooperative VR experience.
Coming to Meta Quest 2 and PlayStation VR2 headsets in 2023, Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will have you teaming up with friends to open your own ghost-hunting business in San Fransisco while taking on the titular Ghost Lord and his army of the undead. You can play the game cooperatively with three other players or on your own for an extra spooky experience.
Along the way, you’ll have access to an assortment of instantly-recognizable ghost-hunting tools, such as the legendary proton pack. According to Sony, you’ll be able to customize your equipment as well as one of several original characters.
“ Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord pits you and your proton pack against the newest, biggest villain inside a totally immersive VR Ghostbusters universe,” said Jake Zim, Senior Vice President of Virtual Reality at Sony Pictures Entertainment . “We’re excited to give fans this first look.”
Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord will be available in 2023 on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest Pro, and Playstation VR 2. The game was developed by veteran VR developer nDreams ( Little Cities, Phantom: Covert Ops, Far Cry VR ) in collaboration with Sony Pictures VR.
