Welcome to our safe haven in mana, formed in 1959 by a group of dedicated boaties. the mana cruising club is a friendly, family based community club  for both boaties and locals,  fostering safe boating, fishing and on and off water activities..

We are a social club with a focus on all things water related, from education in conjunction with Coastguard, fishing, and boating to longer sailing cruises overseas to our pacific neighbours. 

Thursday Night is club night. Come along to meet members, talk about all things boating and other topics. Bar open from 5pm, restaurant meals from 6pm, raffles and members locker draw.

Mana I superyacht features a bespoke modern exterior with her sleek aluminium construction and the continuous window line which culminates in a contemporary plumb bow.

The slender, fluid design goes against the current fashion of balooning beams, as the hull measures a perfect eight metres at its widest point. The slender hull and long waterline will together ensure outstanding seakeeping capacities in rough seas, enhancing comfort for owner and guests alike.

Mana I yacht accommodates 10 guests in 4 spacious guest staterooms. Two guest cabins are convertible to either twin or double cabins, and feature an additional pullman bed each. The exceptional features of the full beam owner's stateroom on main deck is heightened by dedicated access to a private seating area at the bow - a tranquil nook from which to contemplate the horizon. Above the owner's bed, you will find a panoramic window through which you can enjoy a view of the starred night sky.

An impressive saloon and dining room is located on the main deck of Mana I, with floor to ceiling windows providing panoramic views all around whilst also flooding the interior with lots of natural light. The dining experience will be enhanced by the addition of a folding side balcony, which brings seascape panoramas right to the table.

Reached through large glass doors, the shaded aft deck seating overlooking the beach club provides the ideal spot for a cocktail or al fresco meal. Both zones are generously proportioned for the size of yacht.

Guests arriving on board are greeted by a spacious beach club for relaxing bedside the water on complete comfort. Two stairways lead up to the main deck aft, which is shaded by the upper deck overhang to provide a space for all-day outdoor usage, including alfresco dining.

The bridge deck layout places a large Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar and a broad sunbed along the aft for the group to unwind together in the sunshine. A set of steps leads into the central area shaded by the hardtop, furnished with an L-shaped sofa and drinks table as well as an alfresco dining area opposite. Forward, a staircase leads into the pilothouse.

Vickers Studio also completed the styling for award-winning DELTA ONE, the first Mulder ThirtySix hull, and has opted for a walnut interior.

Border Force seizes yacht after Channel crossings

Border Force officers have seized a yacht in connection with small boats crossings in the English Channel on Saturday.

A patrol vessel was seen towing the boat into Dover before securing it in the harbour.

Home Office data , which is published daily, shows 413 people crossed the Channel in small boats on Friday.

In a statement, the Home Office said "the new Government is taking steps to boost our border security" including through the launch of a Border Security Command.

The Home Office said it could not comment on individual crossings, nor confirm how many migrants were on board the yacht on Saturday.

The total number of people who have crossed the Channel so far this year stands at 15,489 - about 10% higher than for the same period in 2023.

Channel crossings are often attempted in dinghies. The use of a yacht is unusual.

Some 1,157 people have been rescued from the Channel since Monday after setting out in small boats, while two have died making the crossing in the same period.

Another four people died in the Channel in the previous week after a spell of good weather saw the number of crossings increase.

On Friday, the Home Office confirmed that a British Border Force vessel which was assisting with a French search and rescue operation had returned migrants to France for the first time .

New cruise ship will have $1 million MOBtronic man-overboard-detection system

U.K. based MARSS has won its largest-yet order for its MOBtronic automated man-overboard detection system, designed to instantly detect persons falling from a ship. Worth nearly $1 million, this latest contract is for a brand new 300-plus meter cruise ship, capable of accommodating over 8,000 passengers and crew members.

The project, scheduled for completion next year, will see 28 MOBtronic units and associated infrastructure, including an interactive touch screen on the bridge, installed on the vessel.

MOBtronic is an advanced, automated maritime man-overboard detection and rescue support system. It utilizes multiple sensor stations installed around the vessel. Each unit contains micro radars, thermal cameras with video analytics, and automated data processing capabilities – which, combined, enables the system to reliably detect man overboard events and increase the chances of rescue and recovery.

Using MARSS’s AI-powered Internet of Things (IoT) platform NiDAR , MOBtronic is designed to minimize false alarms, enhancing the reliability and confidence in detection and ensuring that onboard security is prioritized and resources not burdened.

As soon as a fall is detected, MOBtronic automatically alerts the ship’s crew, along with capturing key details such as speed, direction and biometrics, which aid the rescue response.

This latest MOBtronic contract win adds to six existing installations on cruise ships, with a further two already scheduled for 2024 and 2025. Once all installations are completed, MOBtronic will help protect the lives of more than 50,000 passengers and crew aboard nine vessels, sailing around the world.

“Due to the size and complexity of the ship’s design, incorporating multiple levels, this will be the most significant and challenging installation MARSS has undertaken to date for MOBtronic,” said Frederik Giepmans, managing director at MARSS Safety & Security. “This latest contract also symbolises the momentum that we are gaining in the cruise sector – with more and more vessel operators recognizing the value of automated man-overboard detection capabilities.”

MOBtronic has also been installed on mega yachts and is capable of detecting incidents from offshore oil and gas rigs.

MARSS is also continuing to progress MOBtronic’s ISO certification. Having completed phases 1 and 2 of the ISO 21195:2020 testing, MARSS expects to complete the third phase of testing in 2025. This would make MOBtronic the first man-overboard system in the world to be certified to this leve

A good portion of Deadpool & Wolverine takes place in an empty desert wasteland, where our heroes drive past decrepit monuments of movies of old. There’s the remains of the yacht the villain Sebastian Shaw owned in X-Men: First Class (2011). There’s the diner where Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson (of the Ben Affleck and Jon Favreau varieties) traded quips in 2003’s Daredevil . The rotting corpse of Ant-Man (as Giant-Man) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe sits in the center.

With this imagery, Deadpool & Wolverine anticipates and shushes any critic who would complain about the latest MCU entry as nothing but intellectual property signifiers. When the camera passes by the once-proud logo of 20th Century Fox, the studio bought by Disney in 2019, the movie acknowledges its own hubris. To help him in his mission, Deadpool recruits Wolverine , played once again by Hugh Jackman. But this isn’t the guy fans know from the X-Men movies 20th Century Fox has produced since 2000. Instead, he’s bitter and angry, haunted by the fact that he failed his friends in his reality.

Deadpool learns of his universe’s potential fate via the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the multiversal watchdogs introduced in the Disney+ television series Loki . Headed by the officious Mr. Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen), the TVA retains the drab, 1970s office look from the Loki show, which serves as a winking contrast to the movie’s central conflict.

The TVA represents the Marvel Universe, successful and powerful, but uniform and rigid in its offerings. When Mr. Paradox offers Deadpool a chance to join the mainline MCU, the talk of a dying timeline represents the superhero movies produced by 20th Century Fox, a movie franchise that ended with Disney’s purchase.

Then again, “represents” isn’t the right word. The fourth-wall-breaking Deadpool, of course, knows that Disney bought Fox, that the Fox movies ended, and that the MCU movies continue. His motor-mouthed commentary includes several references to the House of Mouse, MCU chief Kevin Feige, and movie studio shenanigans.

If movie biz commentary sounds tiresome, rest assured that it’s also easy to ignore. Living up to his nickname, the “Merc With a Mouth,” Deadpool never shuts up, and the industry chatter fades alongside Canada jokes, one-liners about intimate acts, and so, so many f-words.

Yes, Deadpool & Wolverine might be a Disney-produced MCU movie, a franchise that has stayed within the PG-13 realm and only included its first f-bomb in last year’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 , but Deadpool & Wolverine is very much a Deadpool film. All of the characters indulge in gleeful profanity and the film includes scene after scene of visceral violence.

In one of the best moments, Deadpool and Wolverine frustrate one another to the point that they have it out in a Honda Odyssey. Set to “You’re the One That I Want” from Grease , the two stab, shoot, and otherwise dismember one another, staining the beige seats with streams of blood.

The violence could shock some viewers, but it ends with the two passed out next to one another due to exhaustion. Sure, they spilled a lot of blood, but both characters regenerate. Their wounds heal and they come back to life, the viscera more a suggestion of brutality than the actual thing.

The meaningless fight scene captures the biggest problem facing Deadpool & Wolverine . The movie has no real stakes. The real tension for viewers comes not from the characters or even the story, but from questions related to intellectual property and movie studio shenanigans: How will Deadpool fit in the MCU? We already know Pyro and Sabertooth (Aaron Stanford and Tyler Mane) from the old X-Men movies show up; who is the next Fox movie character to appear? How will this affect the MCU X-Men?

Pathos Through the Playfulness

For all of its winky humor and show biz talk, the five credited writers on the Deadpool & Wolverine script try to give some weight to Wade’s conundrum. The movie begins with Deadpool separated from his beloved Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) working as a used car salesman with his pal Peter (Rob Delaney), and plagued by feelings of insignificance. However, all of this talk about what does or does not matter gets subsumed into larger discussions of cinematic universe canon, reducing Deadpool’s personal stakes to occasional rants about how much he loves his friends.

On paper, Wolverine’s story doesn’t have much value, either. Director Shawn Levy keeps this Wolvie’s specific failure vague throughout the movie, to the point that the big reveal, conveyed in dialogue instead of visuals, feels obvious.

However, Jackman’s performance more than makes up for any shortcomings in the script. Despite having already played Wolverine in nine movies (counting cameos) across two decades, and given the character a soulful end in 2017’s Logan , no one would fault Jackman for phoning in this latest take. However, even underwritten, Wolverine’s guilt gives Jackman new notes to play, a richer sadness underneath the ever-present anger in his eyes.

Likewise, Emma Corrin puts in a barnburner of a performance as Cassandra Nova , the twin sister of X-Men founder Professor Charles Xavier. Corrin channels previous Professor X performances, in particular James McAvoy’s more passionate take from X-Men: First Class . They create a villain who loves connecting with her victims, even if just to toy with their emotions. Nova’s signature move of burrowing her hands into the fleshy parts of peoples’ faces doesn’t disturb like the wide-eyed wonder and excited grin that Corrin gives the character.

The fine acting adds just enough depth for Deadpool & Wolverine to feel like a proper film, but not too much that it overwhelms its overall goal. At its core, Deadpool & Wolverine is a buddy road trip comedy, with swear words and studio IP replacing the musical numbers and vibrant locals of an old Bing Crosby and Bob Hope flick.

Small Scale for Big Laughs

For all of its corporate merger gags and movie star cameos, Deadpool & Wolverine remains a slight, self-congratulatory comedy.

That might sound like an insult, but given the titanic stakes placed on each and every MCU entry, the small scale is a relief. Deadpool & Wolverine functions less as the next great chapter in an ongoing superhero franchise and more like a pleasing and profane diversion.

Sure, that diversion walks through the history of the superhero movie genre, and Marvel’s attempts to pat itself on the back while “celebrating” the legacy of 20th Century Fox irritates. But Deadpool anticipates that complaint and jokes about it before anyone else can say anything.

Because, at the end of the day, Deadpool knows that he’s in a big studio movie, and doesn’t let that stop him from having fun. It shouldn’t stop viewers from laughing along with Deadpool & Wolverine’s self-aware, self-congratulatory good times.

Fortress Takes Control of Fort Lauderdale Yacht and RV Park in $86M Deal

Lender Fortress Investment Group took control of a yacht and RV park in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as part of a $85.8 million deal, property records.

Called Yacht Haven Park & Marina , the property features 4,800 lineal feet of marina dockage and 255 motorcoach sites at 2295 West State Road 84 , just west of Interstate 95. From the park, boats can travel along local waterways to where the Stranahan River spills into the Atlantic Ocean near Fort Lauderdale’s Harbordale and Port Everglades neighborhoods. 

The previous owner — Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club , managed by Gary Cioffi — transferred ownership of the 20-acre property through a “deed in lieu of foreclosure” transaction, according to documents filed to Broward County.

The newly recorded deed amount is just $4.1 million more than the loan that Fortress Credit Corporation provided in 2021. The mortgage came in tandem with Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club’s $58.1 million purchase of the complex, which was completed in 1970.  

With the loan, Cioffi planned $26 million worth of renovations. These included redesigning the pool, updating the dockage, and adding a fitness center, dog park and on-site concierge services.

During the height of the pandemic, boating surged in popularity as an easy outdoor activity for social distancing with recreational boating growing by 35 percent to $170 million in annual economic activity between 2018 and 2023, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association .

The reason for the foreclosure remains unclear. Representatives for Fort Lauderdale Motorcoach Resort and Yacht Club and Fortress Investment Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Body recovered near port aransas after wreck between recreational fishing boat and tanker over the weekend, a man was found dead at the crash site, another man was missing.

PORT ARANSAS, Texas – Update (Noon, Monday): A man’s body was recovered Monday morning in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, not far from where two boats collided over the weekend. One man was missing after the wreck.

KIII-TV and KRIS-TV reported that his body was discovered by a game warden.

It’s unclear if the man found dead is the same man who was missing after a recreational fishing boat he was riding in collided with a commercial tanker.

The crash happened at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at the Aransas Pass and Lydia Ann Channel intersection. Crews searched for the man on Saturday and suspended their search on Sunday morning.

Original (12:35 p.m. Sunday): One man is dead and another is missing after a recreational fishing boat collided with a commercial tanker Saturday near Port Aransas.

The crash happened just before 5:30 a.m. at the Aransas Pass and Lydia Ann Channel intersection, not far from the ferry, according to U.S. Coast Guard Heartland and media reports.

U.S. Coast Guard Captain Torrey Bertheau told KIIITV that crews arrived and pulled three men out of the water.

One man was pronounced dead and two were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The search for a fourth man continued Saturday but concluded on Sunday morning, according to the Port Aransas South Jetty .

The names of the man who died and the man missing have not been released.

Bertheau said the cause of the crash was under investigation.
