What is the cancellation policy? Two-day cruises: Less than 30 days notice of cancellation: $100 /person not refunded. - Less than 72 hours: 50% refund. - Less than 24 hours notice, no shows or late arrivals no refunds. If your plans change prior to 72 hours before departure we may allow you to reschedule, based upon availability. An inconvenience fee of up to 50% of the cruise value may be charged for passengers who fail to show up for their scheduled cruise. One day cruises: Less than 30 days notice of cancellation: $25 /person not refunded. - Less than 72 hours: 50% refund. - Less than 24 hours notice, no shows or late arrivals no refunds. Riverboat Twilight

Most of us have a mental picture of the Mississippi that has been formed from our view from the shore and bridges. Nothing prepares you for the experience of seeing the valley from the river side. This vast wilderness is hidden smack in the center of the densely populated center of our country. Who knew? A romantic could expound on the size, the commerce, the wildlife, the hidden qualities and the fact that the area is not much changed from the early explorer’s times. This is the river Mark Twain knew, not the one from our school geography books.

The great Upper Mississippi River Valley can only be experienced by boat. Fly-over’s won’t do, there are few roads along the shore and small boats are too limited in range and too low in the water to appreciate the true majesty of the many islands, marshlands and palisades along the Upper Mississippi River.

Come explore the mighty Mississippi River in style on board the Riverboat Twilight. This elegant steamboat replicates the vessels popular in the Victoria era. Enjoy a two-day trip roundtrip on the river as you indulge in delicious meals and relax to live entertainment. Stay overnight in a hotel midway then reboard the Twilight to return to LeClair, Iowa.

We make our way through Wisconsin enroute to the small river town of Le Claire, IA. First, tour the Buffalo Bill Museum to learn more about this bigger-than-life western character and his humble beginnings here in his hometown of LeClaire, This evening we enjoy free time for dinner on your own before turning in for the night here in LeClaire.

Board the Riverboat Twilight for our two day excursion up the Mississippi River. A continental breakfast awaits you upon boarding. Lunch and dinner meals will be served to you by the friendly crew at your reserved table. Beautiful scenery, activities and relaxation are all for you to enjoy as the boat winds its way upstream. From shallow marshes teaming with wildlife to palisades and high cliffs pass as we approach mining country. The Captain will point out sights of interest along the way and explain "locking through" procedures as we negotiate locks and dams. Showtime each afternoon features folk musicians, humorists and perhaps an appearance by Mark Twain himself! Browse the gift shop or enjoy your favorite cocktail at the bar. Ending day one of our cruise we check into the Grand Harbor Resort on the banks of the river in Dubuque, IA for a well deserved rest tonight.

We have a free morning to enjoy the National Mississippi River Aquarium & Museum adjacent to our hotel. Then we're back on board the Riverboat Twilight for another day of adventure and history on the mighty Mississippi River. Heading downstream we enjoy the company of river barges, houseboats, pleasure craft and workboats on the third largest river system in the world. The Mississippi was once a highway for French traders, fur trappers and European settlers in the 18th Century. Continental breakfast, lunch dinner and snacks throughout the day with entertainment and fun keep us busy. We return to Le Claire, IA to meet our Lamers coach and transfer to the nearby Comfort Inn or Holiday Inn Express for another relaxing night.

Beginning our journey home we travel through Illinois for a tour of Starved Rock State Park. We enjoy an included luncheon in the Parks' historic lodge in the main dining room. Entering Wisconsin our fellow travelers say goodbye as we head home with wonderful memories of the Twilight Riverboat and the mighty Mississippi River.

Board the motor coach in Peru, then board the TWILIGHT at 7:45 am in LeClaire, Iowa, and enjoy an expanded continental breakfast waiting for you. At 8am, depart north on this leisurely journey.

The TWILIGHT Captain will be your guide to the wildlife, valley landscapes and historic river towns. Enjoy live entertainment, games, two snacks, lunch and dinner before arriving in historic Dubuque, Iowa.

Accommodations are at the riverfront Grand Harbor Resort, where your luggage will be waiting in your room. The evening is yours to enjoy and explore the city of 5 flags; France, Spain, Great Britain, Napoleon and USA. Diamond Joe’s Casino is adjacent to the resort for gaming fun, or just enjoy the scenic views from the property.

Start your day with breakfast at Tony Roma’s in the resort (included). Spend the morning, using the complimentary shuttle, exploring Dubuque’s history, architecture, shopping and other attractions, such as the inclined railway.

Admission is included to Iowa’s #1 attraction, the must-see Smithsonian-accredited National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium.

Parking Information:

• There are several parking garages, outdoor parking lots and on-street metered parking spaces throughout our neighborhood.
• The Freeway Parking Garage and Arcade Parking Garage, both located behind our building on Pine Street, offer very reasonable parking rates.
• We also recommend taking your hotel shuttle, a Lyft or Uber, or walking from your hotel, if possible. We are centrally located in downtown and most hotels are within a 15 minute walk from us.

Tour Cancellation Policy:

• Tour reservations are   non-refundable.  Please make sure you are booking the correct date/time.
• Customers may reschedule their reservation (subject to availability) with  72 hours advance notice only.
• Requests to reschedule inside of 72 hours are not granted.
• Same-day late arrivals and no-shows are not exchangeable or refundable. If you are late for your tour, or if you don’t arrive at all, you will forfeit your entire reservation fare.
• We reserve the right to reschedule or cancel tours when less than 4 passengers have booked. It doesn’t happen often, but we will call you ASAP if it does.

Weather-Related Cancellation Policy:

• The weather in New England changes often, and quickly. Because of this, we do not postpone or cancel boat tours until the day of the tour. If we were to cancel your tour, we would call you at the phone number provided on your reservation. Please do not call us questioning cancellations, we will reach out to you once we have made a decision. Thank you for your patience and understanding on this policy.
• That being said, all of our tours typically run in a light mist and other moderate weather conditions. Our tours may launch a few minutes late if we are experiencing a passing shower, or weather-related event. We do not allow cancellations/refunds in this case, we simply ask that you are patient and wait it out with us.
• If a tour runs as scheduled, same-day refunds, cancellations or reschedules are not permitted.
• We reserve the right to cancel our tours in the event of severe or unsafe weather conditions. If we do cancel your tour due to inclement weather, you may reschedule, subject to availability, or receive a full refund.

Two Day Mississippi Cruise & More!!!

July 31- August 3, 2024

     Laughter and excitement radiate from passengers boarding the Riverboat Twilight on the first day of their Mississippi River cruise.   The Twilight’s whistle blows, then water churns as the riverboat backs away from her dock in Le Claire, Iowa.   The onboard calliope bursts into song, playing an old-fashioned tune as the boat glides up the river to its overnight destination at the Port of Dubuque.   You can be part of this excitement when you join Laura and Gary Block for this four-day getaway.   Experience towering bluffs, two Locks and Dams, quaint river towns and historical narration during your two days on the river.    Our Andy’s Charter Service coach departs Little Falls from the northeast corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot at 6:30 a.m. on July 31st and heads south.   We’ll pick up in Royalton, Rice, St. Cloud, the Twin Cities or anywhere else along our route.   We’ll travel through southern Minnesota and across Iowa today, stopping for lunch on our own as we head to East Moline, Illinois where we’ll be staying at the Comfort Inn.   Dinner this evening is at Cinnamon Ridge Farm in Donahue, Iowa.   This is a fifth-generation family owned, family run robotic farm. Enjoy a farm to table meal and a tour of the robotic facility. The food is fabulous and the tour is great!

    Our second day begins in LeClaire, Iowa as we step aboard the most elegant riverboat launched in the last 100 years and enjoy breakfast on the Riverboat Twilight.   Her unique stern and ornate detailing will bring you back in time to the elegant riverboats of Mark Twain’s era …the classic boats that Twain called “floating palaces”.   Considered the Midwest’s best kept secret, the Riverboat Twilight offers a two-day cruise between Le Claire and Dubuque.   The cruise aboard the Victorian-styled Twilight is a journey back to the days when riverboats were the most luxurious means of transportation in the country.   There are three decks with comfortable climate-controlled dining salons and three sundecks with lounge chairs for those who wish to take in the fresh air, sights, or snooze in the sun.   For two days, we’ll be served a bountiful of freshly prepared meals, plated on china and served at reserved dining tables.   We’ll be enlightened by the enjoyable entertainment in the afternoon and educated throughout the day by the Captain’s narration as he guides through the bends of the river exploring the stunning nature and wildlife and bringing a unique educational experience of “locking” through the two lock and dams.   Lunch, dinner and snacks in the morning and afternoon are served on the Twilight and included with the trip.   Early evening we land at Dubuque Ice Harbor where we disembark and take the shuttle or do the very short walk to the Grand Harbor Resort, our home for the evening.   Tonight we can relax or explore the beautiful hotel, enjoy a stroll along the river walk, visit Diamond Jo Casino or enjoy the live entertainment on the hotel patio.

    The third day begins with a buffet breakfast at the hotel’s Tony Roma’s Restaurant where they cook a killer breakfast that is included.   This morning continuous shuttle service to many Port of Dubuque area activities will begin departing from the main lobby of the hotel.   The shuttle makes round trips every 15 minutes and will include stops at the National Mississippi River Museum, 4th Street Elevator, Cable Car Shopping Square, St. Luke’s Methodist Church Tiffany stained window collection and the Diamond Jo Casino.   Take your time and explore the activities.   Late in the morning, we re-board the Twilight for our cruise back to Le Claire.   Lunch and dinner are once again included with trivia and entertainment in the afternoon.     The Riverboat Twilight delivers one of the most exceptional cruise experiences in the Midwest.   You’ll marvel at the majestic Mississippi while relaxing in style aboard a stunningly replicated Victorian riverboat.   Nothing but the Twilight delivers the experience of exploring the majestic bluffs, islands and marshes along the river, plus the remarkable variety of animal, bird and plant species viewed outside.   Inside, we’ll be pampered and delighted by delicious plated meals and snacks that are all included, a full bar on your own and an attentive and friendly crew.   Arrival at Le Claire, the boyhood town of Buffalo Bill Cody will be early in the evening when we head to the Holiday Inn Express.

   Our final day begins with breakfast at the hotel and then over to “American Archaeology”, the home store of the History Channel’s American Pickers and other fun shops in the area.   Lunch will be on your own at the World’s Largest Truckstop, located on the eastern edge of Iowa.   This is a place like no other in the world with a convenience store, shopping area and a number of fast-food places. Transportation and lodging hosted by Gary Block Tours is arranged with independent firms.   Bookings for entertainment are arranged through independent hotels, theatres and other entertainment venues.   We take great pride in our selection of reliable firms.   However, we do not control these independent firms.   Sometimes shows or celebrity appearances are changed or cancelled without notice.   We cannot be responsible for claims or losses arising out of injury, accident, death, loss of enjoyment, frustration or inconvenience that arises from the act or omission of any independent firm supplying services to Gary Block Tours, or for mechanical breakdowns, governmental actions, acts of God, strikes or acts of war beyond our control.   We cannot be responsible for the consequences of your failure to follow instructions, including but not limited to check in, check out and baggage handling.   If events or reservations are cancelled or changed, we will make every effort to provide a comparable substitute tour experience.  

Deposits and payments are non-refundable unless the tour is cancelled.

If you’re interested in a tour of Dubuque, the Trolleys of Dubuque will have a one-and-a-half- hour historical tour throughout downtown Dubuque on our evening in Dubuque.   The cost is an additional $20 per person and will depart in the evening from the front of the Grand Harbor Resort.   Please inform us when you sign up if you’re doing the trolley tour.

If you are not vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to do so, however, at this time the Riverboat Twilight does not ask for proof of vaccination. Mask wearing is the choice of the individual. The Twilight offers ample indoor and outdoor seating on all three decks and plenty of fresh air.

We will continue to maintain our increased sanitization efforts of the TWILIGHT and our boarding facilities, and we continue to provide hand sanitizer aboard the boat and employ a strong air purifier that uses UVC lighting that has been proven to destroy viruses and other bacteria.

For the safety of our passengers and crew and to maintain proper cleanliness, we have implemented the following guidelines for parents of children under the age of 14. While onboard the vessel and when making use of our food and beverages services, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. With your cooperation and understanding, we will be able to continue to offer a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

As an owner, of the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Le Claire, IA and the President of Great Lakes Management Group which manages the hotel’s day to day operations, I wanted to say thank you. The business relationship with the Riverboat Twilight and her passengers is valued and much appreciated. We all know businesses from every industry has been operating in a different environment the last 8 weeks and will encounter new changes in the future.

We continue to monitor the franchise, local, state and federal safety guidelines to insure our guest and staff safety. For example, we anticipate a few changes in the near future which will include the following: a plastic shield / barrier at the front desk check,  revised breakfast offerings without a buffet setting, hand sanitizer located in the lobby and all floors at the elevator landings, continued use of hospital grade products to clean and sanitize the guest rooms, individual sanitizer wipes as an in-room amenity, removal of all products in the rooms that are reusable for example, pens, pads, laundry bags, and throw pillows, these items will be available upon request.
