The 70-metre yacht SKAT was built to be a comfortable second home, with iconic exterior design by Espen Øino and interior design by Marco Zanini. Comfort and performance were essential with noise and vibration levels extremely low at cruising speeds. The construction brief called for as much light as possible, which resulted in a glass conservatory on the bridge deck, which allows natural light to shine in from above and below while affording magnificent views of the yacht's surroundings. With a very clean layout and separation, the lower decks are entirely dedicated to technical spaces, crew and services. They received the same level of attention to design and detail as the owner and guest accommodation on the upper decks. Delivered in 2002, the size and quality of these crew spaces is still outstanding even today.

Motor yacht SKAT Is an impressive 70,70-metre luxury superyacht built by the well-known and respected German shipyard Lurssen and launched in 2002. Superyacht SKAT was constructed under the Project name 9906 based on the design by Espen Oeino International with interiors by the Italian designer Marco Zanini.
SKAT features a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure, with a gross tonnage of 1998 tonnes. SKAT's controversial design by Espen Oeino is often referred to as militaristic, offering a truly unique style to her owner.
Some of the main features and amenities of SKAT include a gymnasium, two superyacht tenders and a motorcycle. There is also a helicopter that accompanies SKAT that has been painted in matching grey colour.
Luxurious and sumptuous accommodation was created in five beautiful cabins, sleeping up to ten guests in total. SKAT yacht has a crew of around 20 members, keeping her well-maintained and offering impeccable service to her owner and guests.

The yacht has been fitted with the latest in stabilisation systems, reducing roll motion effect, resulting in a smoother ride. It also has 'at anchor' stabilisers offering additional comfort to her guests.
Mega yacht SKAT is powered by two MTU engines (16V 4000 M70) of 2,717 hp (2,026KW) each, powering her up to a maximum speed of 17 knots and allowing her to cruise at a speed of 15 knots.

The impressive interior of SKAT features an elevator that serves all four decks, a leisure platform with a Jacuzzi, and a gymnasium that is located centrally on the yacht. A helipad serves a McDonnell Douglas 500N Helicopter on the upper aft deck. The 70m yacht can accommodate 12 guests across one master suite, four doubles, and two twins. There is accommodation for 18 crew members on board. She was built as a home and not as a charter yacht for the software engineer owner. The interior design is focused on a clean and uncluttered look. The ship has a near-frameless bridge deck that is enclosed and offers panoramic views of the water. The ‘capsule’ is protected as the boat spends a lot of time in Scandinavia and has to let in as much light as possible. The beach club opens to allow guests to enjoy a swim platform and houses several water toys in the full-beam garage. The crew areas were designed with crew satisfaction in mind. The owner uses SKAT as a home away from home, so crew satisfaction was influential in the design process.  Lurssen shipbuilders built the SKAT yacht at their Bremen shipyard in Germany. Built in steel and aluminium by German yard Lurssen to a design by Espen Oeino , she was delivered in 2002 and immediately attracted worldwide attention with her military-style profile, finished in grey. An interior by Marco Zanini accommodates up to 12 guests in seven en suite cabins comprising a master suite, four doubles and two twins. All guest cabins have entertainment centres, Panasonic television screens and are connected by an elevator to all decks while the crew quarters sleep 20 staff. The dining room has split teak-topped tables for an intimate setting which can also be converted to a single long table with 12 chairs. The main saloon or cinema is aft with a flexible seating arrangement and a large screen television set on an overhead lift. The aft main deck is expansive and open with fixed and loose seating, coffee tables and buffet servers either side. One buffet has a push button bar that opens with bottle storage and the port side also opens with a sink and fridge. The tender garage stores two 8.5 metre tenders and there are bowsers for gas and diesel refuelling and capacity for two or three wave runners and other water toys. There is also a rack for six bikes. A hydraulic elevator platform moves motorcycles, bikes, supplies and handrails etc. from the garage up to the main deck. On the bridge deck, there is a wide walkway to the foredeck with port and starboard crew seating. The elevator accesses the corridor heading aft to the guest office which is to starboard with six workstations. The owner’s library is opposite and also has two days beds for relaxation. Further aft is the bridge deck saloon with a stand-up bar separating the lounging area to starboard and casual seating area opposite to port. Natural light also comes from an overhead sky light. It is on this deck that one starts to appreciate the incredible natural light afforded by the massive windows which extend full width out over the main deck below and are certainly the ‘signature’ of Skat . They extend even further aft to the external dining area which is light, bright and airy and a really generous space with a dining table lying fore and aft for 12 guests, a lounging settee to port and a U-shaped dining and seating area opposite. Her top speed is 17 knots and she boasts a maximum cruising range of 3,500 nautical miles at 15.0kn with power coming from two 2,680hp MTU 16V4000M79 diesel engines. Skat was asking €49,500,000.
