Best Places in the South Bay to Watch the World Cup

With the 2014 World Cup beginning June 12 and last until July 13, there are lots of fans ready to get together to support their favorite teams. Here are some of the places around the South Bay ideal for watching the World Cup.

St. James Park

2nd and st. john.

Free public viewings of the World Cup are put on by the San Jose Downtown Association and the Earthquakes every weekend through the finals on July 13. Cold drinks from local restaurants will be on hand along with food trucks stopping by.

The Britannia Arms Almaden

5027 almaden expwy., san jose.

As one of the regular hot spots of south San Jose (even without a major sporting event) The Brit on Almaden Expressway is a British-style pub that will be teeming with World Cup enthusiasts. Sporting traditional and delicious pub-style food, craft beers, cocktails and live music, supporters of all participating teams can find common ground and a great time. There is both indoor and outdoor viewing and seating so everyone can enjoy the World Cup.

Double D’s Sports Grille

354 n. santa cruz ave., los gatos.

The Devincenzi brothers (the "Double Ds" of the name) definitely know how to create a good hang-out. Double D’s Sports Grille on Santa Cruz Avenue comes with every DirectTV sports channel on 22 flat screens so that anyone and everyone can come and support their favorite teams. For the World Cup, the restaurant will open early for big games and with discounts on select appetizers. In addition to craft beers, they will also be featuring some specialty drink items for those looking to kick back and enjoy the events.

Agave Mexican Bistro

194 castro st., mountain view.

This colorful Mexican Bistro, situated in the heart of downtown Mountain View, is a relaxing yet festive way to enjoy the World Cup. Agave is one of four restaurants owned and run by Alexandro Garcia and his wife, Susan. Alejandro brings old family recipes with him from Mexico, while Susan, a dietician, includes the Californian enthusiasm for truly healthy food. Here one can find a spot indoors or outside in the patio to enjoy a full bar and a casual sit-down atmosphere for viewing World Cup games on multiple wall-mounted flat screens.

Duke of Edinburgh

10801 n. wolfe road, cupertino.

Though named for the capital of Scotland, this particular pub boasts of English authenticity. Everything inside was made in England and shipped to the pub in 1983, giving this small place in Cupertino one of the rare and truly authentic peeks into British pub atmosphere. Not only does the Duke specialize in a variety of single malt scotches, but it also has a full food menu. The bar will replay certain World Cup matches. Although this may not be the place for die-hard fans or those looking for minute-by-minute updates, it would be an excellent venue for anyone curious about the games and some good scotch whiskey.

Katie Bloom's

369 e. campbell ave., campbell.

Katie Bloom’s is a favorite spot for those who frequent downtown Campbell both for the delectable pub fare and for the full bar with good Irish beers and whiskey. During the day, this place can have a very quiet restaurant atmosphere, sometimes with live Irish bands, that feeds off of the relaxed Campbell ambiance, perfect for a calm kick-back. After dark, the pub turns into a night club which can make watching the games both exciting and fan-packed, though you may have to elbow your way through the dancers. Katie’s does also have a weekday happy hour 4-7pm, karaoke nights, and for anyone looking to exercise their brains they host trivia, too.

Rookies Sports Lodge

1535 meridian ave., san jose.

This particular sports bar is known for its mountain lodge theme, making the bar feel like a cozy-yet-adventurous place to settle in and watch the game from one of more than 20 screens, which will be displayed with extra volume for the occasion. Rookies offer commemorative World Cup glasses and several drink specials.

O’Flaherty’s

25 n. san pedro st., san jose.

There’s no doubt that O'Flaherty's will be packed with World Cup fans, with 38 beers on tap, a wide variety of Irish and American whiskeys and several TVs. The interior was made in Ireland specifically for the pub, including tables made from real Irish sewing machines and whiskey barrels.

Lilly Mac’s Restaurant and Pub

187 s murphy ave., sunnyvale.

Located on Murphy Ave in downtown Sunnyvale, Lilly Mac’s pub is a local favorite because of the super friendly bartenders as well as for the distinct feeling of being in a medieval hall given off by the high ceilings and open rafters. Lilly’s will be offering an extended happy hour with $1 off on food and drinks during World Cup games. The pub has plenty of space between the upstairs and downstairs and two small outdoor areas.

Casino M8trix

1887 matrix blvd, san jose.

The towering cardroom off 101 is celebrating the World Cup Brazilian-style with drinks specials like caipirinhas and samba performers. They'll be broadcasting every game on their 42 TVs--including a few 200" HD screens.

Throughout its existence, the San Diego Yacht Club has evolved from a small gathering of boating enthusiasts joining together in 1886 to a world-renowned yachting community recognized for its success in bay sailing, ocean racing, predicted log racing, cruising, angling, and its support of youth programs at all levels. Competitions have ranged from Major National and World Championships to the Lipton Cup, from Junior Regattas to the Olympics, and from Classic yachts to the America’s Cup. Training and racing programs are available for adults as well as juniors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the tickets priced and do they differ from their face value.

Often times, yes. Ultimately, supply and demand dictate successful sale prices and can be more or less than face value. Our sellers determine the price of the tickets. In most cases, where there is high demand and short supply the tickets will sell at more than the face value. However, if the tickets are for an event during an off season or as the event date approaches there are still several tickets available, ticket sellers will often times lower their prices in attempt to recoup some of their costs.

How are my tickets shipped?

All delivery options are based upon the date the tickets ship, not the date you placed the order. If you choose FedEx as your delivery option, we'll send you an email, with a tracking number, when your order is ready to ship. Tickets will be delivered to the billing address you provide and must match the billing address of the credit card you provide us. Most tickets are shipped via Federal Express. We guarantee that the tickets will be shipped to you in sufficient time so that at least one delivery attempt will be made before the event occurs. Express delivery service is also available. All credit cards are charged upon confirmation/finalization. It is your responsibility to track your package and to be available to accept the package. You agree to provide us with a secure delivery location that matches your credit cards billing address. Your expected ticket arrival date is based on the actual date we ship the order.

Are prices, shipping costs and/or seat quantity negotiable?

Ticket prices including shipping and/or local pickup costs and seat quantity are in real time. They cannot be negotiated.

How do I know that the tickets listed on TicketCenter.com are authentic?

We go to great lengths to make sure that the products we sell are authentic and the services we offer are beyond reproach. What if my tickets are lost or stolen?

Please be sure to safeguard all tickets and handle them as you would handle cash. Lost or stolen tickets cannot be replaced under any circumstances.

Can I cancel for any reason after I place an order?

No. All orders are considered final once a client hits the "buy" button to place his or her order. At that point, there are no cancellations or exchanges allowed. No refunds will be issued unless the show is completely cancelled and not rescheduled.

Will my seats be together?

Yes, the tickets purchased in a single listing will be seated together, unless otherwise noted by the seller under "Notes." Please review the ticket notes before making your final selection. The term piggy back refers to the same seats numbers but they are in two consecutive rows.
