This is the rare 14 ct yellowgold version of the IWC Yacht Club, Ref. 1811, manufactured in 1971 with serial 198XXXX. The 36mm case made of 14ct yellowgold is in excellent condition. A very unusual combination is the gold case and the caseback made out of steel. You might think this is a service caseback, but it is not. Watch has been delivered exactly this way and is pictured in the official IWC catalogue 1972 with the description: “1811 – 14ct gold with steelback”. According to IWC this watch was first sold on May 18th, 1971 to Golay in Geneva/Switzerland. Movent is running strong with no indication for a service. Has a new gator strap (not IWC), the original IWC goldplated buckle and original IWC box.

This is a beautiful example of vintage sportive tool watch. The IWC Yacht Club is from the 1970s. Case and bracelet are made out of stainless steel and appeare to be unpolished. The watch is in amazing condition. The dial has no signs of use featuring a stunning silver sunray finish with a date set. The crown is original with the appropriate IWC-logo. The movement is a cal. 8541B automatic movement, running strong and keeping time. The IWC Yacht Club has been launched in 1967 in Basel, Switzerland. Quickly it became one of the most desirable und successful watches by IWC. This IWC Yacht Club deserves the designation as a WRISTCLASSIC like no other. It convinces with perfect proportions, timeless styling and great reference to the yacht-sport.

The International Watch Company has been founded by Ariosto Jones, an American watchmaker and engineer in 1868. In 1901 IWC had already 190 employees. From day one IWC built high quality watches. The most iconic watch by IWC is the Grande Complication. It contains 659 mechanic pieces, among them 71 rubies. It has 17 functions and 12 patents, a perpetual calendar for the next 500 years and the perpetual moon-phase display. Other collectable watches are the IWC Portuguese, IWC Da Vinci, IWC Pilot's Watches, IWC Portofino, IWC Aquatimer and IWC Ingenieur. After two bankruptcies, IWC came back on the road of success.

IWC made full use of the sweeping lines of the case shape, similarities that were also found in other contemporary watches like the Omega Constellations and Heuer automatic Carrera. Elegantly proportioned cases combined with stainless-steel bracelets and rubber or textile straps make the portugieser yacht club an all-round companion.

Since 2010, the Portugieser Yacht Club, an elegant sports watch designed for sailors, has combined timeless elegance with ruggedness and high-level water-resistance. With their filigree bezels and flat casing rings, the new 44-millimetre models have particularly elegant proportions. Ticking away inside is the IWC-manufactured 89361 calibre with flyback function, which combines stopped hours and minutes in a small totalizer at “12 o’clock”. A choice of straps and bracelets make this elegant sports chronograph the perfect companion for use on board, at the beach and on terra firma. The high-quality stainless-steel bracelet, with its polished and satinfinished surfaces, is pleasant to wear. For the first time ever, the watch is also available with a bicolour bracelet in 18-carat 5N gold and stainless steel. In addition,  there is a choice of hard-wearing rubber and textile straps.

The Portugieser Yacht Club Moon & Tide represents a technical highlight. For the first time, in this model, IWC presents its newly developed tide indicator. A totalizer at “6 o’clock” shows the times of high and low tide. Positioned at “6 o’clock” is an IWC speciality, the double moon phase display. It has been expanded to show the spring and neap tides and thus provides more information about the strength of current tides.

First refuelling for Russia’s Akademik Lomonosov floating NPP

!{Model.Description}

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactor units. In such reactors, nuclear fuel is not replaced in the same way as in standard NPPs – partial replacement of fuel once every 12-18 months. Instead, once every few years the entire reactor core is replaced with and a full load of fresh fuel.

The KLT-40S reactor cores have a number of advantages compared with standard NPPs. For the first time, a cassette core was used, which made it possible to increase the fuel cycle to 3-3.5 years before refuelling, and also reduce by one and a half times the fuel component in the cost of the electricity produced. The operating experience of the FNPP provided the basis for the design of the new series of nuclear icebreaker reactors (series 22220). Currently, three such icebreakers have been launched.

The Akademik Lomonosov was connected to the power grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020.

Electricity generation from the FNPP at the end of 2023 amounted to 194 GWh. The population of Pevek is just over 4,000 people. However, the plant can potentially provide electricity to a city with a population of up to 100,000. The FNPP solved two problems. Firstly, it replaced the retiring capacities of the Bilibino Nuclear Power Plant, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya Thermal Power Plant, which is more than 70 years old. It also supplies power to the main mining enterprises located in western Chukotka. In September, a 490 km 110 kilovolt power transmission line was put into operation connecting Pevek and Bilibino.
