Is this excursion suited for someone in a wheelchair? Obviously I wont climb the dunns river, but would like to come with my family and watch.

No it is not suitable for a wheelchair, the access to the catamaran is not great, and would be difficult for anyone with walking difficulties, the catamaran is really crowded, and we had to negotiate another 2 to get on to ours. At Dunns River the jetty it quite rickety and leads straight on to the sand, hope this useful.

Where are bathroom facilities on this excursion?

Down a few stairs.

We have been many times and love it! My question is this trip my grandchildren will be with us. They are 4, 2 and 2. If an adult stays with them can they go on the boat? They would not snorkel or climb.

There were children on our boat and they were allowed to snorkel. They were not as young as your grandchildren, maybe from 5-12yrs old, but they seemed to have a good time. Just keep an eye on them because when the dancing starts, it can get a little crowded and wild. Have a great vacation!

How long is the catamaran ride from sailing to the falls?

Catamaran package deal is supposedly a full-day COURSE, from the point and time you’ll be picked-up from your hotel normally in the morning after breakfast, and then on the shuttle bus that’s where all the fun begins due to the driver makes that excursions fun and interesting.  Then you’ll be dropped off the place where you need to wear your water shoes when you go to your boat and to the falls and back (lots and lots of fun it is all well worth every dollar spent). Have a good time!

How difficult is it to get back on the boat after snorkeling. How far does the ladder go down in the water?

Normal ladder. Probably 2 rungs below water. Very easy. We had all shapes and sizes in our group.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Flexible: full refund within a limited period.

For cancellations by Guests, cancellation charges depend on when Island Routes receives notice of the cancellation. Minimum cancellation charges are as follows:

Hotel Guests:

24 hours or less: No Refund

48 hours or less: 50% Cancellation Fee

96 hours or less: 25% Cancellation Fee

96+ hours: Full Refund

Shore Excursions:

96 hours or more: Full Refund

Less than 96 hours: No Refund

G r oup Reservations:

60 days prior to tour date: Full Refund

45 days prior to tour date: 50% Cancellation Fee

30 days prior to tour date: 75% Cancellation fee

Less than 30 days prior to tour date: No Refund

All cancellations of, or changes are subject to applicable restrictions. Island Routes Tours will apply any payments made toward the purchase price against any cancellation charges and will refund any balance remaining after the payment of any charges. In order to receive a refund, if applicable, client must request and receive a cancellation confirmation number. The cancellation charges outlined above are liquidated damages and not a penalty. Holiday periods may be subject to additional cancellation charges. NO REFUNDS OR ADJUSTMENTS WILL BE MADE FOR ANY PORTION OF TOUR OR ATTENDANT SERVICES NOT UTILIZED.

Refund Policy: No refunds or adjustments will be made for any portion of your tour not utilized.

Changes to Reservations: All requested changes to reservations are subject to Island Routes' sole discretion, and any changes must be approved in writing.

PREPAID TOUR & EXCURSION RESERVATIONS

By reserving your tour and excursion, you authorize Island Routes Caribbean Adventures to book reservations for the total reservation price. You agree that your credit card will be charged by Island Routes Caribbean Adventures for the total reservation price.

BANK & CREDIT CARD FEES

Some banks and credit cards impose fees for cross-border transactions. The Operators of tours are solely responsible for their acts and omissions and Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, assume no responsibility for such acts and omissions, or for any injury, loss, damage, sickness or accidents sustained on any of the tours offered for sale , including but not limited to any that occur on and/or during the tour, as well as before and after as part of and/or during transport to/from the tour ‐ again, to the exclusion of tours identified as being owned by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours. Guest HEREBY ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES that Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours, and the hotel, their parent corporation, affiliates, subsidiaries, insurers, directors, officers, employees, successors, assigns, agents or representatives, SHALL NOT BE LIABLE to Guest for liabilities, claims, actions, damages, cost or expense in any circumstances, for: (A) ANY PERSONAL INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING OUT OF OR CAUSED BY ANY ACT OR OMISSION ON THE PART OF ANY Guest(s) and/or Operators of tours, excluding tours identified as being owned by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours; (B) EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, MENTAL SUFFERING, OR PSYCHOLOGICAL INJURY OF ANY KIND; OR (C) ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, PUNITIVE OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES. Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours cannot guarantee that it will satisfy special requests and we are not responsible if such requests are not met.

PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Persons with Disabilities: Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes Tours cannot guarantee that transfer vehicles or tour sites are wheelchair accessible. However, if informed, we will endeavor to make the necessary arrangements. This may however come at an additional cost.

The undersigned Guest(s) irrevocably consents to and authorizes the use and reproduction by Sunisland Routes and/or Island Routes, or anyone authorized by Island Routes, of any and all photographic, video and other visual portrayal(s) of the undersigned Guest(s), their child or ward, for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to use in magazines, brochures, flyers, television, internet, and websites displays without further reference or compensation. This agreement is governed by the laws of Jamaica. You hereby consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of courts in Jamaica, in all disputes arising out of or relating to the use of this Website. Montego Bay Dunn’s River Falls Excursion is the most popular tourist attraction in Jamaica. Seeing or climbing the waterfalls at Dunn’s River is truly a unique and amazing adventure that everyone should experience at least once.

The Dunn’s River Falls Park and the setting are truly breathtaking, and the incredible cascading falls challenge, refresh and delight visitors of all ages.

Your excursion from your Montego Bay Resort or Cruise Ship Port begins with a 1.5 hr journey along Jamaica’s Golden Coast to Ocho Rios. Along the way, you can take in the beautiful scenery and get a chance to pass through many towns and villages and experience Jamaica first-hand. With the new Highway from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios complete, this is a much safer, quicker, and enjoyable drive.

Upon arrival at Dunn’s River Falls, you will follow a path and stairway that leads down to the base of the falls. For those who wish to climb the beautiful falls, this is where your adventure begins. For those not up to the challenge of climbing the falls, the views and spectacular sights are worth the trip alone.

Water shoes/sandals are required and are available for rent if you do not bring your own. You may climb the falls with or without a guide, depending on your ability and comfort level. This is a challenging climb, but your Dunn’s River Guides are excellent and will give you all the support and confidence you will need to accomplish this journey.

There are also several points along the adjoining path where you can easily access the river and enjoy the cool water and pulsating flow of cascading water over your body without having to climb.

Enjoy an exhilarating massage from Mother Nature. The climb to the top can take up to 1 hour. Along the way, there are several photographers available to capture this special moment for you.

From Dunn’s River Falls, your guide will take you on a brief tour of Ocho Rios spectacular countryside where you can take in the sights as you drive through Fern Gully, a beautiful rainforest, abundant in plant life. Enjoy panoramic views of the town and your cruise ship port before returning to the city for a shopping tour.

This excursion culminates with shopping in the heart of Ocho Rios where you will have the opportunity to explore the local craft markets or indulge in the shopping centers and their duty-free offerings.

Our driver was great. He stopped a few places that we asked him to stop at on the way to the boat from Montego Bay. The day we went out it was very windy but that isn’t something that was your fault by any means. Nobody can control mother nature! That being said, the snorkeling was pretty challenging with the waves and current. The falls were awesome besides some guide with a group behind us that was a real asshole. Y’all’s people were great though! The way back to the dock after the falls was really fun. Wish it would have lasted longer but while it lasted it was fun! Everything that your company provided for us was great! We got to see the whole coast with a driver that told us about the whole area on the way. It was a great experience for the family.

Uton once again was absolutely fantastic! He was friendly and was determined to ensure we had an enjoyable experience. We felt safe and taken care of and for 5 girls that was extremely important!

The excursion package we selected was great! Lots of variety and lots of fun for our whole group. I personally have done this exact excursion through the hotel two years ago (since we were only a party of two) and in comparison – Karandas provided us more comfort and flexibility. We didn’t feel like it was a drag or an inconvenience in any way. We got to pick and choose where we wanted to stop, take pictures, eat, shop etc.

Uton really made the experience comfortable, accommodating and customized to our needs.

We definitely prefer doing our excursions with Karandas Tours because of the private and personal experience. We were able to enjoy the day without waiting for others and making “what sometimes feels like” 100 stops along the way.

I believe our driver’s name was Mr. Rudy (please forgive me if I am incorrect, as we had a few drivers during our time in Jamaica). Mr. Rudy was nothing short of a pleasure to work with. He was fantastic, and I cannot emphasize that enough. He arrived at our resort in plenty enough time, and was kind enough to wait on other individuals in our party to arrive in the resort lobby (which we understand can be a frustration when given strict timelines). We had a very large travel group; 13 people total, 11 of which were originally scheduled to attend the tour. Prior to departure from the hotel, the final two individuals decided to also attend! Mr. Rudy was kind enough to make sure that the tour/excursion would be able to accompany them, and we were well on our way! The drive from Mo’Bay to Ocho Rios was beautiful and fun. One of the members of our group conversed with Mr. Rudy the entire time! We still arrived at the beach with time to spare prior to boarding the party boat. Everyone had a great time on the party boat, and the staff was phenomenal. Everyone was so kind, and fun. We had a great time. Those who snorkeled thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Boarding the boat was seamless each time, and there were always gentlemen present to help people on/off.

We all enjoyed climbing to the top of Dunn’s River (with no injuries!). The staff there were also very kind, helpful, and energetic, making for an even more enjoyable excursion.

I think our group had the most fun on the party cruise back to the beach. Once again, the staff were fun and energetic. We thoroughly enjoyed the rum punch and beef patties. Our group danced with the staff, laughed and joked, etc. I think we were all a little sad when it was over.

Mr. Rudy was there to pick us up once our excursion came to the end. We asked about local souvenir shops, and he was kind enough to take us to one so that everyone who wanted souvenirs could purchase them (everyone was able to get something they’d wanted). While on the way back to our resort in Montego Bay, our group realized that we would not make our 7:00 pm dinner reservation (this was our own fault as we should have made the reservation for 8:30 pm). Mr. Rudy kindly took us to Scotchie’s and waited for all 13 of us to get our food (which was amazing, by the way), and finally we were dropped back off at our resort for the night.

I would 100% recommend Karandas Tours Ltd. to anyone traveling to Jamaica. I know that there was a bit of back and forth initially between you and me with booking the trip, but I cannot stress enough how much I appreciate you all’s patience and swift, accurate responses to my emails and/or phone calls.

I cannot say enough about our driver! He was awesome! Very personable and knowledgeable gentleman. He was on time picking us up and share all kinds of information with us about Jamaica. The horses are really well cared for - pastured, not stabled, and the owner really loves them. Our kids had a blast riding in the water. I’m sure the rafting would have been nice, but the tour operator rescheduled our departure in the morning, which had us driving through bad rush hour traffic. They did ask us about changing the time, but we had no idea how bad rush hour would be. After sitting in a van for hours thinking “we are 100% missing a dinner reservation because of this,” it was pretty hard to enjoy the rafting. The tour operator texted me after I posted a 2* review, informing me that the rush hour that day was particularly bad. Exactly what we were looking for! The horses were so well taken care of and liked the water! We were both first time riders and felt so comfortable! We went down a long trail that passed a banana plantation which led out to a private stretch of beach that was absolutely amazing and breathtaking! The driver Mr. Copely and the guides at each location were great, very attentive, and friendly. Mr. Copely points out a lot of interesting places on the way. Blue Hole, Secret Falls, and walking along the aqua river in the forest was a wonderful experience. Climbing Dunn's River Falls was so AMAZING!!! A unique experience. The guide knows where to climb and takes care of everyone. The whole tour was great. Go with SNL Tours for this tour. The Blue Hole is beautiful sight to behold. There is a photographer that will take an official picture as you jump or swing about 10 ft. The secret falls are quite the hike up so we waited at the bottom natural spring pool while our group climbed to the 30 foot drop. Lunch was not included so we paid at the restaurant. We ended at Dunns River Falls which is a climb up 600 plus feet of falls. Shoutout to our Driver Franklin who was masterful on those tight Jamaican roads. Read more Written 1 April 2024
• isthatyourdog 0 contributions 3.0 of 5 bubbles Long day that can get expensive. Obviously very touristy We got picked up in Montego Bay. You have to stop at a lit of hotels picking people up. Bring water shoes. They tell you that you cant wear Teva or Chacos but everyone had them and they are fine. The guides are all barefoot so it seems a little like a scam when they stop at a shop where they will happily sell you watershoes for $35 each. The tour itself is fine but our guide skipped stuff others did so you may or may not do the secret falls which is just a small walk to yet another pool. They sort of rush you through "stay in line, stay in line". You dont get to swim or hang out at all and they basically try to get you not to take any pictures because they want to take them and charge you. Our guide was ok but you could tell hes bored and he does this all day with dragging tourists up rocks and trails to shove them off ropes and small jumps. Anyone can do it any ability truly. The lunch was good at Lindas but you get water or water downed punch that is mostly guava and watermelon. The drinks came well after the meal. But the lunch was good. Dunns Falls was kind of a bummer. They combine you with a really big group. You walk up the falls. We ended up leaving our "guide" because he was attached to the two really old and really fat people. If you dont have good balance or have bad knees dont do it as you hold up the tour for everyone. Most of us left and went up the falls ouselves. We took our own iphone pictures with no issues and didnt buy the $40 videographer one because he wasnt with is most of the time. I am not sure why you even need a guide. There is no need to hold hands and i did the whole thing with minimal guidance or help. Watch for the really hard sell of trinkets at at the end. Overpriced and very hardsell. Then a very long drive back stopping at all the hotels. Took forever to get home. Its a long day. Its fun to do and very pretty. We enjoyed the experience of visiting Bob Marley's home and his and moms mausoleums. Wear comfortable shoes that can be removed easily as you can't wear your shoes in the mausoleums. The tour was excellent, lots of good information and a wee bit of live music half way round. Not going to say too much, but this might not suit folk who have an issue with smoking, just go with the flow and enjoy. He explained us about history while driving to the locations, and he answered all of our questions. Really nice guy! Blue Hole was so much fun, its a must go to place! I honestly enjoyed it more than the River Falls tbh, since you only go up the falls while everybody is holding hands and that's basically it and Blue Hole was much more fun! jumping into the water from up high, swimming and having a great time. Lovely setting by the beach. Chicken and rice/salad. Fruit punch. Then 1hr 30mins up to Nine Mile, steep winding road, pot holed. Then, it is quite intimidating arrival, ushered into a den where marijuana items are offered to you whilst seated on a dirt step. Then, across the road to the Bob Marley tour. Make sure you take lots of tip money as in at least THREE places you'll be hassled to tip. The band for a few songs, the priest, when he takes two minutes to read a sermon in a chapel, and the guide who will stand with his hand out. Then at least a 2 hour drive back to Montego Bay. Be warned, both are quite strenuous and involve swimming , jumping and climbing so you will get a bit of a workout. • Gythorpe 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Bob Marley village of 9 miles tour. Trip booked through Tui on site at the hotel. Cheaper than on-line before we left the UK. Picked up at the hotel lobby at 08:30 & returned at 14:15. Includes a lunch of jerk chicken & rice. Paid $176 us dollars for two adults. Takes around an hour to reach the village from Runaway bay, our bus guide, Tanya, was excellent, stopping periodically to inform about certain places / plants etc along the way, also taught the passengers to speak patois! Hilarious. George the driver was the same, true team work & worth every cent. Arrival at the village has outside stalls & sellers of all forms of trinkets & Ganja for those who partake, incuding Ganja homemade brownies amongst other forms. Be prepared to climb steps, slopes and paths before reaching the top where Marley lies in state. There are levels you can rest, buy drinks, gifts & restrooms, though be mindful you must be fully mobile. Another guide will then take you through the different sites, explaining every step and singing the songs Marley wrote in relation to the place you stand. Our Rastafarian guide was named Benjamin & his knowledge is powerful, as a die hard Marley fan for over 40 years, he really knew his stuff. The last stop is the mausoleum high above 9 miles, a dollar candle can be purchased to lite as a mark of respect, the dollar goes towards the local school for books etc. A whole afternoon of enjoyment, tiring but worth every second. Would i visit Jamaica again? Dunno.... but nine miles i'd go again in a heartbeat. The Rastarfarian community are beautiful welcoming people and a full credit to the village of nine miles & beyond. They told us some fun facts about Jamaica on the ride to Ocho Rios from Montego Bay. The ride was about an hour and half. You do make a stop at a little gift shop where you can buy water shoes, souvenirs and go to the restroom. There’s also a stop for food/drink if you need a snack. Blue Hole was GORGEOUS and so much fun. We got some really great photos in the hidden falls. Guides at Blue Hole were very friendly. After blue hole, you stop for lunch. My family and I ordered the jerk chicken, it was good. As a heads up, the prices of meals range from about $19-$23USD a plate. They do accept cash, card or Apple Pay. Dunns River Falls was our favorite. The falls are so beautiful and the guides were extremely helpful. Mr. T was our guide and made sure to give us clear instructions throughout our climb on which rocks to avoid, where there was uneven footing and when to duck. They also have a videographer that goes along for the whole climb and snaps pictures/videos while you climb. This was very appreciated as I was able to take some pictures along the way, but not as many as I would have liked. All in all, this was an amazing excursion. I highly recommend. Some notes: 1. It’s a LONG day - pack snacks and water (especially if you have kiddos with you) 2. Water shoes are a must! 3. Bring lots of cash for tips (people we tipped: blue hole guides - 2 people, restaurant staff, Dunns River falls guide/videographer - 2 people, SNL Tour team - 2 people) 4. Entire excursion was executed well, picked up from the hotel, Copley who was a driver of the van arrived on time and was explained about local history and other things throughout the trip. It was very nice location, where you can enjoy the nature. The guides at Blue Hole and secret falls were very friendly and helpful and making sure for everyone’s safety. Duns river climbing was ultimate fun. Copley dropped us back to the hotel. He made sure everyone were comfortable, and boarded the bus every place we stopped.
