The Lagoon 52 is a product of the prolonged conversations between Lagoon’s customary VPLP, Nauto design agency, and the Lagoon design department. It comes in two versions: The Lagoon 52 FlyBridge, known as Lagoon 52F, and Lagoon 52 SporTop.

It’s a lightweight boat at 48500 pounds and could go up to 52900 depending on the size.

The attention to detail on the boat is nothing short of perfection as the interior design, woodwork, safety measurements laid out by the boat’s design, aesthetics, ventilation, etc., was thought out good. Leopard 50L

The Leopard 48, which was launched in 2012, was one of the most popular cruising cats ever designed. But the design was beginning to become dated, even as new orders kept coming in. So, Robertson & Caine, who build the Leopard cats, set out to improve on what was already great. The new 50 was their answer and comes with many innovations that will make owners happy. We test sailed the 50L last winter in Florida. The L version has the optional lounge on top of the hardtop over the cockpit. Unlike some cats with flying bridges and lounges up high, the 50L doesn’t feel like a layer wedding cake.

The steering station is a traditional raised helm to starboard, and the lounge is just up a few stairs from there. The helmsman is in contact with those in the main cockpit and those in the lounge. Out sailing, we got the 50L up to 10 knots in a good breeze, so the boat is fast. It is also commodious and will make a very comfortable home for a family or a charter party.

Length: 58 Feet

Price: From $450k To $1.5 Million on the Used Market

Leopard 58 is a superb layout from Leopard, skilfully modeled by award-winning designers Robertson & Caine. This extravagant catamaran is suited to the prolific and innovative catamarans that have made Leopard famous while still giving out fresh features and various design options.

This expansive FlyBridge takes space to a whole new dimension as it is larger than its siblings with their award-winning aspects. Like the Lagoon 52, it’s a perfect balance for onboard comfort and performance sailing and sea safety. Perfect for sailors or boat lovers who are looking for a little extra.

This catamaran sets a standard for offshore sailing because of its simple sailing methods, large open cockpit space, and twin protected helms. Equipped with a three or four-cabin design that affords the owner’s cabin expansive living space, great storage, high aspect riders, daggerboards, an elegant fit/finish, and infused carbon-reinforced construction.

Seawind 1600

Price: Around $1 Million USD New

The new Seawind 1600 has been in the works for a while and has finally arrived on the market. The Reichel Pugh design is a departure from the more conservative looks of the other Seawinds and embraces a very Euro-style with plumb bows, hard chines, a swept-back cabin, and a large open cockpit with helm stations on both sides. The boat is a pure performance cruiser that was conceived as a blue water voyaging boat for a family. At 52 feet, it falls within the size range that an experienced couple can handle, so it would make a great platform for a couple to explore the world. The 1600 like all of the Seawinds and Corsairs, are built in Vietnam.

Nautitech 542

Length: 54 Feet

Price: Around $1.2 Million USD New

Nautitech 542 is the typical example of offshore meeting first class. This boat has ideally tweaked fittings for smooth sailing under any circumstances. Furnished with a single wheel on its roof for perfect views of the boat and a comfy 2-person seat. The idea of this boat is mostly based on performance and quality. Asides from the positions of the helm, Nautitech 541 and 542 are very similar. Nautitech 542 is large and luxurious. The impeccable elegance of the interior with a lavish owner’s suite and the boat’s perfect wood quality are two great reasons to make you get the boat. The freedom to choose a four or five-double cabin is another, depending on the size of the family.

Multihull impresario, dealer, and broker Phil Berman (The Multihull Company) has sold more multihulls over the last 30 years than just about anyone. His latest project has been the development of the Balance line of performance cruising cats. The queen of the line is the Balance 526 that was introduced a few years ago and has proven to be a very successful player in the 50-foot plus segment of the cat market. Built in South Africa by noted composite experts, the 526 offers a well-conceived combination of great sailing performance and luxury living in a boat that can be handled by an experienced couple.

The boat has plenty of innovations, among them a helm that can be tilted up so you can steer from the raised helm station or tilted down so you can steer from the protection of the cockpit. Very cool. The design does not take any particular element to the “extreme.” Instead, Berman and his crew have sought to provide a boat that is truly well balanced in all aspects. And, they’ve done it.

Manufactured in 2014, this luxury catamaran is ideal for those who enjoy watersports and healthy activities. It was designed by world-renowned designer Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prvost (VPLP) and built to top-notch quality with a focus on stability, performance, luxury, and spaciousness. The maximum capacity of this boat is 12 guests in 4-double and 2-twin cabins. The Sunreef 620 is the very first to feature a newly developed rig. This classic high-performance voyage was designed by VPLP and is said to combine a level of comfort, performance, and safety. It was built by Sud Composites in France with high tech materials. Sud initially built about 18 of these classic catamarans from 2001 to 2007.

Switch 51 hulls are built with vinyl ester sandwiched with a Klegecelle PVC foam core, thereby creating a hull light enough to be real quick and heavy enough to handle the ocean waves and swells. The saloon and galley are huge, with the cockpit spacious. The layout and accommodation are perfect for a small family with classic amenities aimed at making your stay on board a memorable one. This also a pretty affordable option in this category with prices on the used market as low as 450k.

2024 Boat of the Year: Best Cruising Catamaran Over 50 Feet

It was perhaps fitting that Fountaine-Pajot and Lagoon Catamarans—two longtime pillars in the production catamaran community—came head-to-head for the title of best cruising cat over 50 feet for 2024. Talk about symmetry: Both boats measure in at about 51 feet. A nearly exact price point of just around $1.6 million. Each is produced by one of the pioneering French multihull builders that’s been at the game for decades. In some ways, this matchup was not unlike a heavyweight boxing bout between Ali and Frazier, or a good old-fashioned feud like the Hatfields and McCoys. It was a duel that the judges relished and dreaded because the competition would undoubtedly be close—but there could be only one champ. 

Winner: Fountaine-Pajot Aura 51

During deliberations, judge Mark Pillsbury summarized the overall layout of the Aura 51, a viewpoint shared by his fellow panelists: “A length overall of 51 feet is enough space to give designers options when it comes to how a cruising cat is laid out, and Fountaine-Pajot takes advantage of this by offering a variety of layouts, with up to six cabins in charter mode. The boat we sailed in Annapolis had what they term a ‘double Maestro layout,’ i.e., a master cabin aft in each hull, with guest quarters forward. It would be a boat that two owners might share, sailing separately or together occasionally. I really liked their decision to locate the helm station on the Aura partway between the cockpit and the flybridge, which they called the sky lounge. That way, the skipper stays in contact with guests below and above, and has good visibility astern when docking. I also like the separation between the steering seat and the three winches on the cabin top. Shorthanded, the autopilot can be engaged when the skipper steps forward to trim sails, and with crew, the trimmer has room to work and the skipper room to steer. We had light wind the day we sailed, only about 5 to 8 knots, and the Aura made 4 knots closehauled—a good run for a big, well-stocked cruising cat.

Judge Herb McCormick weighed in: “I really thought that this category was a toss-up. Both boats will be sold to private owners and will also be set up for the charter trade. At the end of the day, what leaned me toward the Aura was that helmsman’s arrangement, centered between the cockpit and the top deck. I loved that big flybridge on the Lagoon, which will be a great space especially on charter, but this is the best ‘cruising’ cat, not best ‘charter’ cat, and that one feature I believe is better-suited to real cruising.”

Runner-up: Lagoon Catamarans 51

The French boatbuilding industry is to be applauded for its forward-thinking approach to sustainable building practices and exploring next-generation powering and propulsion systems. Judge Tim Murphy focused in on Lagoon’s approach: “This is largest Lagoon fully intended for owner-operators. Beginning with 55, the next size up in the range, a professional captain is expected to be involved. Lagoon produces 275 boats per year. From this year’s Boat of the Year fleet, Lagoon is at the forefront of carbon-positive materials: 35 percent biomaterial in the polyester resin (compared with 14 percent last year), with hemp fibers employed instead of glass in some of the smaller molded parts. The production plant is certified ISO 9001, 40001, 50001, which is notable for the commitment to sustainable manufacturing.” 

Unlike McCormick, judge Mark Pillsbury liked the Lagoon’s helm station just fine. He said: “The 51 is a big boat, but the layout of the helm station on the flybridge makes the boat simple to operate with a shorthanded crew. All sail controls are led to three winches on the cabin top, and there is a Harken electric sidewinder winch adjacent to the wheel to control the traveler. And for a large cruising cat, I thought that the 51 sailed well. The steering was very smooth. In 8 to 12 knots of breeze, we saw boatspeeds in the high 6s and 7s depending on our point of sail. The view from the helm was tremendous.”

However, most catamarans are pricey. You can expect to spend between $200,000 and $1M for a vessel in good condition on the used market.

What Are the Best Catamarans Between 40 and 50 Feet?

The best catamarans between 40 and 50 feet include the following:

The Leopard 50 is the replacement for the Leopard 48. It sits at 50 ft (15.24 m) long, powered by two 57 hp Yanmar engines. Used models start at a whopping $800k.

The exterior of the vessel boasts endless high-end features. You’ll get a table, a sunbed, and a roomy lounge on the flybridge area of this boat. However, you can spice things up with shade awning and exterior speakers, though you have to order these separately.

Getting to the flybridge from the side deck is easy, thanks to the carefully designed floating stairs, masterfully fitted in. A signature design move from this brand is that the flybridge now links to the helm station on most of the models.

The Leopard 50 is no different. The spacious lounge also acts as protection for the helm station behind the bulkhead. You’ll also get a clear line of sight and movement to the aft cockpit for a flawless journey. Passengers can move freely across the flybridge without interfering with the boom, which is in stark contrast to other catamarans similar to the Leopard 50.

Overall, the exterior design of the Leopard 50 is fantastic. It’s hard not to look at any further customizations as extravagance. On the inside, it’s no slouch either. You get a utility room, five independent cabins, and 6-12 berths. The vessel also boasts 4-6 showers onboard, and the interior décor features classy materials.

The Lagoon 42 is the scaled-down version of the Lagoon 52 designed by Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prévost (VPLP). It measures 42 ft (12.80 m) and boasts two 42 hp Yanmar engines. Price-wise, expect to splurge between $620,000 and $850,000 on the used market. 

The two main features that distinguish this model from other popular Lagoon models are:

• A relocated mast to ensure proper balancing of the gross weight and reduce pitching. 
• A beautiful silhouette that gives the boat a unique look. The design is part of the exterior styling spearheaded by Patrick Le Quément.

The smaller boom and the self-tacking genoa make the Lagoon 42 a bit more compatible for short-handed sailing. You get lots of room in all the lounges across the boat—from the cockpit down to the saloon. There’s also excellent ventilation on the wide flat decks, thanks to the flush opening hatches. Access to the boom is simple, as the vessel has safe and sturdy stairs that lead to the upper deck and helm station.

With the helm station on top of the coach bulkhead roof, mobility and communication between the cockpit and saloon are a breeze. The interior of the boat has four cabins. The forward has beds that passengers can access from the side, while the aft options have an island bed.

The Lagoon 46 is another high-quality catamaran from VPLP with an overall length of 45 ft (13.72 m). It receives its power from two 45/57 cv CR engines, and it’ll set you back around $500,000 for a used model. The overall design is a refreshed approach that guarantees better performance than the preceding models. 

The first noticeable design change is the narrowed down water lines flared out inboard. This combination dramatically improves the volume on the inside of the boat. The results are a bit more pronounced on the cabins in the forward area, making it easier for you to have the same bed size on the abaft and front.

The Lagoon 46 also has a high-tech cradle-like davit system accompanied by a Bimini roof that’s a lot less weighty than what you’ll find on older models. The boat’s flybridge features a large enough area for sunbathing, connected to the two side decks directly. Meanwhile, the reserved storage space on the boat has also had a bump in this model.

With the mast located at the aft position at the top of the boat, it’s no surprise that there’s a self-tacking genoa on it. The interior décor of the ship looks as exquisite as the price range suggests. Most of the finishes are either Alpi or light wood oak, with rounded edges prioritized a great deal.

The fore cockpit is large enough to fit a small crew without the space feeling cramped. Since it sits in an elevated position, the helming station delivers excellent visibility for sailors.

The windows are designed to open with a retracting or gliding mechanism, so you’ll enjoy excellent ventilation in most of the living areas on the boat. Some of the new features added to the Bali 4.1 include new bench seats in the back cockpit, large side lockers, a platform connection for the two hulls, and more.

With the Nautitech 46, you’re sure to get nothing but pleasure, comfort, and elegance. You can expect to spend between $500,000 and $800,000 for this used 46ft (14.02 m) super vessel, with the two Volvo Penta engines combining for 80 hp of sailing power. The vessel architecture and design were handled by Marc Lombard and Roseo Design, respectively.

The catamaran has two models known as the Open and the Fly ( flybridge setup ). The Open variant is the “original” version. While the models are the same under the hood, the major difference lies in the deck variations. The Fly delivers a flybridge space for the passengers and captain, with unforgettable views in all directions.

The Nautitech 46 Open has a 4-cabin version that can carry eight people (great for summer rentals) and a 3-cabin version that’ll appeal to people that want an owner’s suite. The saloon’s design offers passengers picturesque views of the sea from a very comfortable sitting position. 

If you need table space for work or to organize navigation, you can find one carved out in the kitchen.

• The interior design reflects the price and is of very high quality.
• There are lots of clip-on-points and rails to ensure safety and easy movement around the vessel.
• There’s a spacious engine bay that allows easy access to the engines thus reducing maintenance times.
• The slender shape of the boat hulls causes a decrease in the living space.
• There’s reduced visibility on the aft helm (open version).

Fountaine Pajot Elba 45

This 44 ft (13.41 m) vessel powered by two 40 hp engines made its grand introduction at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival. Since then, it’s grown in popularity, thanks to the bold and modern design which emphasizes cruising, relaxation, and comfort. You can buy one of these for around $500,000 to $900,000 on the used market.

The vessel is made of energy-emitting lines and inverted bows, which has dramatically improved the interior space. The helm station also features upgrades to improve the handling experience.

Not to worry; the cockpit doesn’t get the backburner in the comfort-centric design department. It’s very spacious, containing lots of storage spaces and direct access to the saloon. 

You can choose to install a Beach Club electric platform if you’d like to host parties from time to time. If you like to bring guests aboard, they’ll enjoy the relaxation spaces on the cockpit, lounge, and foredeck. Some interesting additions to the internal elements of the FP 45 are two refrigerators and a water maker that can produce 15.85 gal (60 L) of drinks per hour.

• The living spaces on the catamaran are some of the best and largest in this range.
• The fly lounge is an interesting design.
• It’s sharp when traveling downwind and offers a good compromise between speed and comfort.
• Performance suffers a lot in upwind sailing, and the fuel consumption increases significantly.

Designed by Christophe Barreau, the Catana 47 is another premium catamaran on the market today. It’s a 46 ft (14 m) durable vessel powered by two 40 hp Volvo engines. Going for around $750,000 on the used market, the Catana 47 is a light and strong vessel featuring a heavy infusion of carbon fiber. 

The Catana 47 retains some of the signature design moves the Catana Company is known for, including open helming stations, a performance-centric rig, and tall twin daggerboards. This model of the Catana runs a bit faster than the preceding model. That’s likely because Catana dropped its weight by around 1,500 lbs (680.39 kg). 

The vessel doesn’t skimp on space either. Both the crew and passengers on board will always have enough space to move around without bumping into someone else.

•  Its speed is up there with some of the best in this class of catamarans.
• High bridge deck clearance
• You may need a watcher during docking due to the blind spot between the helming station and the opposite bow.

Seawind 1370

The Seawind 1370 is like a mash-up of the best features from the Seawind 1600 and 1260 designs with some further unique improvements. The 45 ft (13.72 m) catamaran is an excellent cruise vessel with warm and roomy living spaces. This makes the vessel an excellent option if you have a large family. The ship boasts two 40 hp Yanmar engines, and you can purchase a high-quality used one for around $700,000.

The catamaran can withstand heavy spray while in turbulent waters, thanks to the tough panoramic fashioned glass windows. The saloon opening from the cockpit features a tri-fold door. Once inside the cockpit, you’ll find a large transom lounge and a nice little bar that can also double as your cocktail joint.

The lounge on the saloon has enough space, and you can make more by simply folding down the table to transform it into a bed. You’ll find all the lines and controls in the helm station. The well-shaped hull offers high headroom in the cabins. Overall, the architectural design of this catamaran (made by Francois Perus) is one of the best in its class.

• It’s comfortable enough for small families.
• It’s very sturdy while on the water.
• The volume and space on offer may not be enough for commercial applications

The Beneteau Excess 15 is one of the largest catamarans created by the Beneteau group. It’s a sleek, cruising vessel with two powerful 57 hp engines. The twin helm stations on the boat make it one of the few catamarans that sport this design approach. There’s an 80 hp dual-engine variant of the vessel. With those specs in mind, you can expect to spend $200,000 to $1 million on a Excess 15.

On the inside, the vessel has a roomy saloon, which can double as a mini room diner.  While there, the non-smoked bay windows guarantee a full view of the entire seascape ahead. The cockpit is large enough to hold a table that can seat eight people. Helmsman, in particular, will enjoy the Dyneema steering cables and the aluminum supports.

• It’s a very stable seaworthy vessel.
• The engine is powerful enough for the size.
• It runs at a decent speed for a luxury boat.
• The interior and exterior design screams comfort and prestige.
• Since this is a luxury boat, it’s not the fastest in this class.

There are many excellent catamarans within the 40-50 ft (12-15 m) range. The options we’ve covered here are the best ones I have seen so far. Think about your unique needs before choosing any specific option. After all, some of these are more equipped for cruising while others are more useful as holiday boats with your family.

Don’t forget to consider other factors such as ease of control, harbor space, fuel type, and engine type. If you’re going with a used model, be sure to evaluate it thoroughly before you make a decision. It’s often best to get a professional valuation.

Description

The Leopard 50 replaced the Leopard 48, a very successful production boat. This is no evolution, but an entirely re-thought design. She’s two foot longer with a bigger beam. There used to be 2 options: the fly version (they call it a lounge, hence the name: 50L). And the 50P: (the P stands for performance).

Just the Lounge Now, they only produce the Lounge version which has a higher boom and a lounge behind the helm for sundowners at anchor. She clocks in at a similar size to the McConaghy MC50 CAT (also with a flybridge) but you won’t need to dig as deep into your budget for a Leopard.

Leopards have a reputation for being tough boats- they have to be with all that charter action. And they are sea-worthy too. Most of them are transported on their own bottoms from South Africa to the rest of the world.

Simonis Design The 50 is a vacuum-bagged and resin-infused E-glass hull with a balsa core. Carbon fiber adds stiffness without adding on the pounds, and the keels are filled with closed-cell poly foam. Designer Simonis was instructed to maximise visibility, which means fewer structural elements. To achieve that, carbon-infused ring frames are used instead of wood or composite bulkheads.

Go Forward The 50 has the Leopard signature forward cockpit. While that might not make it the prettiest boat in the bay, it’s a fantastic space, reached through a door from the saloon: perfect for a sundowner at anchor with a breeze. Robertson and Caine first launched the forward cockpit with watertight door with the Morrelli & Melvin-designed Leopard 44. Alex Simonis and Simonis Voogd Yacht Design then took over the design pencils, and the idea has proved popular with buyers and the 50 has a sleeker profile. The Leopard 50 will also be sold for charter as the Moorings 5000.

• The living space. It’s HUGE.
• Leopard’s are seaworthy boats. Most of them are delivered from South Africa on their own bottoms.
• The forward cockpit – always a favourite for sundowners.
• When the wind is up, these boats sail well.
• The flybridge- great at anchor
• Leopards aren’t known for their sleek profiles. The 50 looks more balanced than some of their other models, but still. Owners won’t care what you say as they are lounging around at anchor, however.
• Performance drops off quickly in lighter winds. That’s not unique to a Leopard though.
• All that living space means that these cats have more windage than most.
• A higher boom can make accessing the mainsail tricky in a seaway.
• The balsa core will put some people off.

Huge Living Space The aft cockpit is big with large sofas and an aft seatback. South Africans love their barbeques (or braais), so there’s a decent grill to cook your fish and steaks on. She has wide side decks with plenty of places to clip on and flush hatches.

A second forward-facing dining space is just inside the saloon to port. The table is foldable and can be lowered for coffee, or it can spread wide for dinner. Stainless handrails by the stairs look slick.

And on the 50L of course you have that flybridge / lounge with a comfortable wrap around sofa and a table. There’s also a spot to soak up some rays.

The skipper is well looked after too, with a well designed work station that is set up for short-handed sailing. With no less than 3 electric winches and Spinlock stoppers for halyards and sheets which tidy away neatly into a canvas. Sail handling is made easy by with all control lines led back to three powerful winches close to the wheel and there is plenty of room for someone else to lend a hand. It’s all very organised.

Visibility is good forward and to starboard, less so to port.

That extra length and beam makes a big difference when you head down below. A popular option is to configure the Leopard 50 with up to five spacious cabins. The owner’s suite is aft to starboard with a dressing area and an en-suite shower-room. The guest cabins are pretty impressive too, with walk-around berths in each. There’s also an option for a utility cabin.

Up to 6 Cabins Leopard will configure you up to six cabins and six private heads if you want. Most owners go for more space in their cabin with a working area and dressing/vanity space.

The galley has a work-space to starboard, with a four-burner hob on a Force 10 oven and a Vitrifrigo fridge aft. There’s an L-shaped work-space with sink and another fridge under it. With her nav station to port, she’s very tidy in the saloon.

With all that space, you’ll be forgiven for thinking that the 50 moves like a condomaran. Well, she shifts rather nicely with a square-topped main (that’s an option) and a short bowsprit to carry a lighter wind sails (a recommended option). With all that kit, you’ll have plenty of wind power.

Seaworthy You won’t match a monohull or performance cat with dagger boards like the Catana 47 going upwind (55 to 60 degrees to the wind is more likely at a clip). If you want to head higher, you’ll need to stick the leeward engine on.

Talking of power, the Leopard 50 comes with 2x Yanmar 57hp diesels which are easy to access. If you’ve gone for the generator option that is also easy to get to in a deck locker.

There’s an option to upgrade to 2x 80hp Yanmars, which will push you along at around 9 knots at 2,500 rpm. Back off a bit and you can do 7-8 knots comfortably, or power on one engine to save fuel at 6 knots.

Instead of davits, the Leopard 50 has a hydraulic swimming platform aft that takes a 10ft tender.

Don’t be put off by her profile, as you get a lot of benefit from all of that extra space. She’s nippy, spacious and seaworthy – a sure success for Robertson & Caine from South Africa. One We Will Never Forget

We are writing to let you know how much we were blown away by our sailing trip to the Virgin Islands with you both! From the beginning you both made us feel welcome and very safe. Your confidence in sailing and top notch service were impeccable. You made sure we were well fed, having fun, and had all the comforts in place for us. Ada - your meals were wonderful and every day we looked forward to what you were going to create for us. I especially loved waking up to the breakfasts and the evening desserts. Tim loved your dinner creations. The charcuterie boards were always ´right on time´ as sailing makes you so hungry. LOL. Everything was perfect! Playing Catchphrase with you both was a highlight as you had fun with this insane crowd. It was impressive how you were not deterred from the playful ´smack-talk´ either. Coming back from an evening at Soggy Dollar Bar to find a lovely birthday surprise with balloons and decorations was so nice for Vicki - she was very touched. Connor you have a great knowledge of the different islands. We appreciate you getting us to the Baths before the the crowds - how amazing to see it as the first footprints on the sand for the day. The snorkeling spots were so cool for me as I had very little knowledge of snorkeling. Thank you for taking us to Anegada, it was so beautiful touring the island to see the flamingos and beautiful water and beaches. The fresh Anegada lobster dinner was amazing! Thank you again for making the tour exceptional and one we will never forget. We all said that you and Ada will always be our captain and chef when we return - hopefully in the very near future. Tim is sailing again with his buddies in the Spring and he will reach out for sure to maybe see you and Ada.

Doesn´t Get Much Better

It is hard to explain how wonderful our trip with you two was. We had such a great sailing adventure...and we all felt so secure with you two guiding us! Your competence, professionalism and sense of humor is hard to find...anywhere! Libra is very fortunate to have you both. Our group was, well, ´eventful´ and maybe just a bit hard to manage...but you guys were just perfect and so flexible about what we needed. The food was terrific and you made sure we had what we wanted and also where we wanted to go. Our schedule was your schedule...doesn´t get much better than that. Vicki and I keep talking about this trip (and always will)...her birthday was so much fun and much of that was due to both of you making sure we were all happy. What a week! After 3 previous sailing trips, our expectations were VERY high. Chris and Lida FAR exceeded our expectations. We had a wonderful trip and consider you both friends! Lagoon 50, el eslabón que faltaba

Entre los 12 modelos  la gama de catamaranes Lagoon entre el 450 y el 52, este Lagoon 50 de 50 pies es la propuesta por excelencia del astillero para navegar con la familia sin ayuda de tripulación, ya que tanto el aparejo como la distribución y organización de la maniobra permiten que un par de personas, o incluso una sola, lo lleven con total desahogo.  German de Soler /  Fotos: Nicolas Claris/G.de Soler

El Lagoon 50, en su configuración vélica de serie, se entrega con foque autovirante, lo que resulta perfecto para su programa: un catamarán de crucero que se pueda gobernar sin esfuerzo. Además, toda la maniobra, tanto de palo como de escotas está reenviada al puesto de gobierno superior y se controla desde allí, a modo de central de navegación, con la ayuda de tres winches STC 50, que opcionalmente pueden ser Harken eléctricos. Bastan pues dos personas para llevar el Lagoon 50 sin moverse del puesto de gobierno superior, mientras el resto del pasaje disfruta de la navegación. O, cuando el tiempo lo permite o lo exige, conectar el piloto automático y controlar la navegación desde la mesa de cartas del interior o desde la bañera, sin tener ni que permanecer en el flybridge.

Digamos también que el palo atrasado e inclinado hacia popa y la mayor trapezoidal, que están adoptando todos los nuevos modelos de Lagoon a propuesta del gabinete de diseño y arquitectura VPLP,  ofrecen numerosas ventajas al crucerista, quien además de disponer de un triángulo de proa de mayor superficie que en un aparejo tradicional, puede escoger entre un vestuario de velas más amplio y equipar, como hemos dicho, una mayor trapezoidal (opcional, ya que de serie se entrega con mayor Marconi tradicional) con una alta relación de aspecto que le confiere mucha potencia y un mejor aprovechamiento del viento menos perturbado en la parte alta. Además, el posicionamiento atrasado del aparejo resulta en un mejor equilibrio de pesos lo que repercute en un menor cabeceo del barco.

Ventajas pues en la maniobra que hay que añadir a un desplazamiento moderado para un catamarán de crucero de 15 metros, lo que se logra gracias a una cuidada construcción que tiene muy en cuenta la contención del peso. Para ello, el Lagoon 50 está construido en fibra, pero con los cascos, la cubierta y tejadillo laminados en infusión. El trampolín y la cubierta están realizados en sándwich-balsa, al igual que los cascos, excepto bajo la línea de flotación, donde el laminado es monolítico.

Hay que decir que el barco se entrega de serie bastante completo, con dos tomas USB y convertidor de 12 a 220 V, ducha de cubierta fría/caliente, la mesa de la bañera de poliéster, 12 escotillas de cubierta flush y seis en el casco con escotilla abrible integrada, espacio para lavaplatos (opcional), mueble de estribor con nevera 190 litros, molinillo de fondeo eléctrico de 1.500 W, y agua caliente con depósito de 60 litros con resistencia de 220 V e intercambiador en las versiones de tres y cuatro cabinas, y de 100 litros en la versión seis cabinas.

Aun así, hay opcionales con los que habrá que contar sí o sí. Entre ellos la electrónica B&G, el aparejo del código 0 y del asimétrico, los lazy jacks, la vela mayor trapezoidal, los cojines, colchonetas, capotas y biminis, los winches eléctricos Harken en lugar de los STD, el propulsor de proa, la cristalera de cuchillo frontal, el televisor, y alguno más.

De otros opcionales como el módulo de cocina exterior con refrigerador, la mesa de teca en la bañera, el sistema eléctrico de izado del anexo o la plataforma hidráulica, las tomas de 12 voltios en popa, el generador Onan de 11 kW o 4 kW, la potabilizadora de 100 l/h o las tomas de 220 en los baños se puede prescindir, al menos en el primer momento de la compra.

EXTERIOR CONFORTABLE

En el exterior, en la cubierta el Lagoon 50 distribuye tres zonas de estar. Por una parte, la bañera de popa, a un solo nivel, abierta al mar, con cómodos accesos, y mobiliario modular móvil con una mesa desplegable que puede acoger hasta a 12 comensales. La mesa es de poliéster y opcionalmente de madera.  Aquí, también como opción, se incluye una cocina exterior con un mueble con fregadero, refrigerador y cubitera, parrilla de gas y armarios. La gran cristalera que separa la bañera del salón ofrece nada menos que tres metros de amplitud, lo que convierte al salón en un verdadero espacio de vida abierta al exterior.

El astillero ofrece para el auxiliar las opciones de plataforma hidráulica o pescante manual o eléctrico opcionales capaces para un anexo Highfield CL 340 con motor de 20 HP Honda, como era el caso del barco en que navegamos.

Encontramos también una segunda bañera en proa, con un amplio sofá en U integrado que permite disfrutar plenamente de la navegación y del trampolín en los fondeos.  Bajo el sofá se encuentran espaciosos cofres de estiba y el molinete de anclas se esconde en el interior de  una caja que se usa a modo de mesilla, de modo que esta zona de estar queda totalmente despejada de obstáculos.

La tercera zona está en el flybridge, tras el puesto de gobierno al que se accede por las dos bandas.  Es un amplio un espacio modular con colchonetas con respaldo que puede cubrirse con un toldo bimini o tipo cabriolet escamoteable opcionalmente, y bajo las cuales encontramos espacio de estiba para equipamiento del flybridge.

En el flybridge está también el puesto de gobierno central, en el que convergen todas las maniobras: es amplio y cómodo, con un gran asiento longitudinal para tres personas y disfruta de excelente visibilidad. Hay espacio más que suficiente para las grandes pantallas de la electrónica, lo repetidores de viento, y los mandos de los motores al alcance de la mano al lado de la rueda. Se agradecen los tres grandes cofres recogecabos que contribuyen a mantener el orden y los winches de buen tamaño. El carro de escota de mayor, se controla desde una polea-mordaza eléctrica situada sobre el tejadillo a popa del piloto.

INTERIOR GENEROSO

Con una altura de 2,05 metros en el salón y de dos metros en las cabinas y baños, el volumen que logra el interior de este 50 pies es excepcional. Esto se pone de manifiesto tanto en el salón como en las cabinas donde uno tiene una sensación de espacio realmente notable.

El salón, a dos niveles, ofrece dos áreas de vida distintas pero comunicadas. Por una parte, en popa, una gran cocina abierta hacia la bañera, y por otra una zona de estar elevada con un gran canapé en U para permitir una mejor visibilidad panorámica sobre el entorno a través de las grandes ventanas laterales, y que puede configurarse como espacio de estar o comedor gracias al ingenioso movimiento de desplazamiento de la mesa principal, que puede usarse como mesa alta o baja y que puede acoger hasta a 12 personas.

Un módulo central separa ambas áreas y esconde también el televisor escamoteable en su interior.

La ventana central de proa de la caseta es de cuchilla lo que, además de facilitar la ventilación del salón, permite la comunicación con quienes están en la cubierta de proa, toda vez que las ventanas laterales también disponen de escotillas abribles.

La cocina, por su parte, está distribuida a ambas bandas de la puerta de acceso al salón. A babor se encuentra la cocina propiamente dicha con horno, microondas, fregadero de doble seno superficies corián y refrigerador de 190 litros, estanterías altas y cajones .

En la otra banda, un módulo ocupa todo el espacio, también con encimera de corián, estanterías y un congelador de 110 litros de dos cajones de apertura frontal.

En su conjunto, un salón excepcionalmente amplio, alto, con visibilidad absoluta hacia el exterior, bien organizado en dos ambientes separados por el módulo central que alberga el televisor y en el que uno no echa en falta ninguna de las comodidades de que dispone en su propia casa.

Bajo cubierta el propietario puede elegir entre varias opciones de distribución ya sea con tres cabinas y tres baños con ducha, cuatro cabinas y sus respectivos baños, y seis cabinas con seis baños. Las cabinas son espaciosas, bien ventiladas, con numerosos armarios y cajones y con grandes ventanas con escotilla abrible integrada que proporcionan luz, ventilación y vistas al exterior.

Las camas dobles son grandes (2 x 1,60 metros en popa y 2 x 1,50 metros las de proa) y en todas las cabinas los armarios y cajones son más que suficientes para guardar todo lo necesario en una travesía larga.

Además, opcionalmente se ofrece la posibilidad de situar un armario vestidor en cada casco —un verdadero lujo—, que es el espacio que ocuparían las dos cabinas adicionales en caso de que se optase por la distribución de seis cabinas, como se observa en los dibujos de los planos.

Navegamos en el Lagoon 50 en la bahía de Palma con un viento de 6-7 nudos y el barco aparejado con la mayor opcional trapezoidal y asimétrico, con el que con el aparente a 45° lográbamos ceñir a 5,5 nudos, y aumentar la velocidad a 6,2 nudos con el aparente a 60°. El Lagoon 50, con estas velas respondía bien de manera que, pese al poco viento, había sensibilidad en la rueda. Es evidente que 6-7 nudos no es viento para un catamarán de crucero de 20 toneladas al que le cuesta crearse el aparente necesario para moverse y ceñir con esta ventolina. Pese a ello, seis nudos de velocidad con el asimétrico están muy bien y hay que decir que si uno no baja la guardia, el Lagoon 50 se comporta con mucha dignidad con vientos flojos. Con vientos fuertes y olas, el valor se le supone. No en vano el gabinete de Verdier y Lauriot Prévost están detrás de su arquitectura.

La visibilidad desde el puesto de gobierno es buena, la posición es segura y cómoda y toda la maniobra es perfectamente asequible desde ahí. Los winches están bien dimensionados y las líneas de cabos no molestan.

A motor, con los dos Yanmar de 80 Hp y hélices plegables de tres palas, seis personas a bordo y el combustible a la mitad lográbamos una máxima de 8,8 nudos a 3.300 revoluciones y una cómoda velocidad de crucero de 7,8 nudos a 2.400 vueltas, con un consumo de seis l/h/motor. A velocidad económica de cinco nudos y 1.400 revoluciones, cada motor consume 1,7 l/h, una cifra que le confiere a este catamarán de 50 pies una enorme autonomía.

En resumen, Lagoon ofrece un gran catamarán en una eslora que todavía es manejable sin tripulación profesional, lo que es ya decisorio, con un aparejo moderno, excelentemente acondicionado para viajes largos y con un comportamiento que nos sorprendió gratamente dado el escasísimo viento para un catamarán de este porte con que lo probamos.

Price: From $500k to $1.5 Million USD On the Used Market

Back in 2019, the Lagoon 50 was awarded the best multihull of Sail Magazine. A product of the world’s largest boat manufacturer Lagoon, established in 1984, is majorly famous for the design and construction of cruising catamarans, which infuse top-notch designs, upscale comfort, and great sailing performances to one’s boating experience. Every detail is carefully thought out to establish novel and spacious architecture with a homely ambiance.

It’s a perfect balance between the model Lagoon 450 and the lofty 52. The Lagoon 50 has an encompassing view, generous volumes with a self-tacking jib, and a shorter mast for easily simplified maneuvers. It has two cockpits, one large one facing the sea and the other for seating at foredeck or on a deck chair. The hulls being large enough to contain more than 2 cabins, you can have up to six cabins. Italian agency Nauto Design Studio set a standard for their innovative interior designs every time. This vessel boasts of a unique brand signature, providing increased performance and a detailed wood finish to be fitted for the owner. Looking for something contemporary and luxurious? Lagoon 52 takes the cake in that way. This boat signified a new stage in the design of cruising catamarans. The Lagoon 52 is a product of the prolonged conversations between Lagoon’s customary VPLP, Nauto design agency, and the Lagoon design department. It comes in two versions: The Lagoon 52 FlyBridge, known as Lagoon 52F, and Lagoon 52 SporTop.

The combination of onboard comfort with its sailing performance is perfect and in sync. The wide side decks allow easy movement onboard. The cockpit and saloon also offer spacious living areas. The vertical bows of the boat have a diamond-shaped appearance with diagonal shaped hull and a lifting deck house.

The boat is easily accessible and safe thanks to the open rear skirts. Most of the features in this luxurious watercraft can be found in the aforementioned Lagoon 50. It has a perfect blend for its easy use, a comfy, elegant interior, amazing space, and lighting. You’re sure to get your money’s worth with the LAGOON 52.

Privilege Series 5

Price: Around $1-1.5 Million USD

At 50 feet, this boat is quite marvelous and a privilege to spend your time in as a cruiser or owner. The Privilège Series 5 is the world’s first 50 feet sailing catamaran. This vessel was built by Privilège Marine, a French company based in Les Sables-d’Olonne, France. They are famous for building premium luxury catamarans and designed by French Naval Architect Marc Lombard. The Privilège Series 5 is equipped with three or four double and a full-sized owner’s cabin located in the yacht’s center. It’s a lightweight boat at 48500 pounds and could go up to 52900 depending on the size.

It has great customization options, and it can be designed to suit the boat owner’s taste. The attention to detail on the boat is nothing short of perfection as the interior design, woodwork, safety measurements laid out by the boat’s design, aesthetics, ventilation, etc., was thought out good. The vessel’s finishing is really phenomenal as everything has a high level of craftsmanship.

Leopard 50L

Length: 50 Ft 6 In

Price: Around $1 Million USD

The Leopard 48, which was launched in 2012, was one of the most popular cruising cats ever designed. But the design was beginning to become dated, even as new orders kept coming in. So, Robertson & Caine, who build the Leopard cats, set out to improve on what was already great. The new 50 was their answer and comes with many innovations that will make owners happy. We test sailed the 50L last winter in Florida. The L version has the optional lounge on top of the hardtop over the cockpit. Unlike some cats with flying bridges and lounges up high, the 50L doesn’t feel like a layer wedding cake.

The steering station is a traditional raised helm to starboard, and the lounge is just up a few stairs from there. The helmsman is in contact with those in the main cockpit and those in the lounge. Out sailing, we got the 50L up to 10 knots in a good breeze, so the boat is fast. It is also commodious and will make a very comfortable home for a family or a charter party.

Length: 58 Feet

Price: From $450k To $1.5 Million on the Used Market

Leopard 58 is a superb layout from Leopard, skilfully modeled by award-winning designers Robertson & Caine. This extravagant catamaran is suited to the prolific and innovative catamarans that have made Leopard famous while still giving out fresh features and various design options.

This expansive FlyBridge takes space to a whole new dimension as it is larger than its siblings with their award-winning aspects. A Flybridge is basically a version of catamarans that affords you the luxury of outdoor space, come rain or shine. Leopard 58 is more about space, bragging about 750 square feet in just the saloon alone. It gives you amazing comfort and is naturally luminous. Popularly called the Seawind 52 because of its 52 feet size. The Seawind 52′ 1600 is designed by world-renowned architects Reichel Pugh. Like the Lagoon 52, it’s a perfect balance for onboard comfort and performance sailing and sea safety. Perfect for sailors or boat lovers who are looking for a little extra.

This catamaran sets a standard for offshore sailing because of its simple sailing methods, large open cockpit space, and twin protected helms. Equipped with a three or four-cabin design that affords the owner’s cabin expansive living space, great storage, high aspect riders, daggerboards, an elegant fit/finish, and infused carbon-reinforced construction.

Seawind 1600

Price: Around $1 Million USD New

The new Seawind 1600 has been in the works for a while and has finally arrived on the market. The Reichel Pugh design is a departure from the more conservative looks of the other Seawinds and embraces a very Euro-style with plumb bows, hard chines, a swept-back cabin, and a large open cockpit with helm stations on both sides. The boat is a pure performance cruiser that was conceived as a blue water voyaging boat for a family. At 52 feet, it falls within the size range that an experienced couple can handle, so it would make a great platform for a couple to explore the world. The 1600 like all of the Seawinds and Corsairs, are built in Vietnam.

Nautitech 542

Length: 54 Feet

Price: Around $1.2 Million USD New

Nautitech 542 is the typical example of offshore meeting first class. This boat has ideally tweaked fittings for smooth sailing under any circumstances. Furnished with a single wheel on its roof for perfect views of the boat and a comfy 2-person seat. The idea of this boat is mostly based on performance and quality. Asides from the positions of the helm, Nautitech 541 and 542 are very similar. Nautitech 542 is large and luxurious. The sail controls at the helm stations for easy sailing maneuvers and perfect for all weather conditions. The interior was designed by French designer Franck Darnet. Equipped with state of the art furniture and cabin experience, a sleek experience is assured.

Xquisite X5

This lovely boat is in touch with the latest style, sporting a flybridge complete with two wheels and a broad sunbed suitable for the crew to relax the day away. The 615 is a combination of simplistic and superior design with an outstanding crew, results in the ultimate luxury Caribbean cruising experience. The impeccable elegance of the interior with a lavish owner’s suite and the boat’s perfect wood quality are two great reasons to make you get the boat. The freedom to choose a four or five-double cabin is another, depending on the size of the family.

Followed closely by its outstanding exterior, you’re sure to fall in love with it on sight, from the cockpit to the foredeck. With an impressive platform and lustrous profile, the Privilède 615 contradicts the volume and versatility of its interior. One wonders how they fit into the other, gives it a great ambiance.

Balance 526

Length: 52ft 6in

Price: From $1.3 to $1.6 Million USD New

Multihull impresario, dealer, and broker Phil Berman (The Multihull Company) has sold more multihulls over the last 30 years than just about anyone. His latest project has been the development of the Balance line of performance cruising cats. The queen of the line is the Balance 526 that was introduced a few years ago and has proven to be a very successful player in the 50-foot plus segment of the cat market. Built in South Africa by noted composite experts, the 526 offers a well-conceived combination of great sailing performance and luxury living in a boat that can be handled by an experienced couple.

The boat has plenty of innovations, among them a helm that can be tilted up so you can steer from the raised helm station or tilted down so you can steer from the protection of the cockpit. Very cool. The design does not take any particular element to the “extreme.” Instead, Berman and his crew have sought to provide a boat that is truly well balanced in all aspects. And, they’ve done it.

Manufactured in 2014, this luxury catamaran is ideal for those who enjoy watersports and healthy activities. It was designed by world-renowned designer Van Peteghem-Lauriot Prvost (VPLP) and built to top-notch quality with a focus on stability, performance, luxury, and spaciousness. The maximum capacity of this boat is 12 guests in 4-double and 2-twin cabins. The Sunreef 620 is the very first to feature a newly developed rig. From the large cabins, saloon, galley, and sail performance, the 620 is one boat you’d get a memorable experience on. Price: From $450k to $550k On the Used Market

Aimed at Blue-water sailors looking to sail fast and far, Switch 51 has proved itself and regarded in this day as a remarkable ocean cruising catamaran. This classic high-performance voyage was designed by VPLP and is said to combine a level of comfort, performance, and safety. It was built by Sud Composites in France with high tech materials. Sud initially built about 18 of these classic catamarans from 2001 to 2007.

Switch 51 hulls are built with vinyl ester sandwiched with a Klegecelle PVC foam core, thereby creating a hull light enough to be real quick and heavy enough to handle the ocean waves and swells. The saloon and galley are huge, with the cockpit spacious. The layout and accommodation are perfect for a small family with classic amenities aimed at making your stay on board a memorable one. This also a pretty affordable option in this category with prices on the used market as low as 450k.

Strange Glow Over Moscow Skies Triggers Panic as Explosions Reported

B right flashes lit up the night sky in southern Moscow in the early hours of Thursday morning, new footage appears to show, following reports of an explosion at an electrical substation on the outskirts of the city.

Video snippets circulating on Russian-language Telegram channels show a series of flashes on the horizon of a cloudy night sky, momentarily turning the sky a number of different colors. In a clip shared by Russian outlet MSK1.ru, smoke can be seen rising from a building during the flashes lighting up the scene.

Newsweek was unable to independently verify the details of the video clips, including when and where it was filmed. The Russian Ministry of Emergency situations has been contacted via email.

Several Russian Telegram accounts said early on Thursday that residents of southern Moscow reported an explosion and a fire breaking out at an electrical substation in the Leninsky district, southeast of central Moscow.

Local authorities in the Leninsky district told Russian outlet RBC that the explosion had happened in the village of Molokovo. "All vital facilities are operating as normal," Leninsky district officials told the outlet.

The incident at the substation in Molokovo took place just before 2 a.m. local time, MSK1.ru reported.

Messages published by the ASTRA Telegram account, run by independent Russian journalists, appear to show residents close to the substation panicking as they question the bright flashes in the sky. One local resident describes seeing the bright light before losing access to electricity, with another calling the incident a "nightmare."

More than 10 villages and towns in the southeast of Moscow lost access to electricity, the ASTRA Telegram account also reported. The town of Lytkarino to the southeast of Moscow, lost electricity, wrote the eastern European-based independent outlet, Meduza.

Outages were reported in the southern Domodedovo area of the city, according to another Russian outlet, as well as power failures in western Moscow. Electricity was then restored to the areas, the Strana.ua outlet reported.

The cause of the reported explosion is not known. A Telegram account aggregating news for the Lytkarino area described the incident as "an ordinary accident at a substation."

The MSK1.ru outlet quoted a local resident who speculated that a drone may have been responsible for the explosion, but no other Russian source reported this as a possible cause.

Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Moscow with long-range aerial drones in recent months, including a dramatic wave of strikes in late May.

On Sunday, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the region's air defense systems had intercepted an aerial drone over the city of Elektrostal, to the east of Moscow. No damage or casualties were reported, he said.

The previous day, Russian air defenses detected and shot down another drone flying over the Bogorodsky district, northeast of central Moscow, Sobyanin said.

There is currently no evidence that an aerial drone was responsible for the reported overnight explosion at the electrical substation in southern Moscow.

Thanks to a special canopy and roll-up windows, the deck saloon has the added attraction that it can be fully enclosed, making it ideal for all weather conditions. Her forward area includes a splash pool and sun bathing area which can also be shaded with a removable awning. From the cockpit, a stairway leads to the light-filled spacious saloon offering ample seating, ideal for relaxing or enjoying a drink from the bar, and offers a formal dining area. This area also includes a LCD TV, entertainment center, ipod dock station, playstation, and is ideal for indoor activities. She can accommodate 10-12 guests in one full width master stateroom, two double bedded cabins each having one extra single bed and two twin bedded cabins which can be easily converted to double beds (upon request), thus, making her the only 5 double bedded sailboat in the Greek market. She also has a nice selection of toys which include water ski (adult and children), tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod and snorkeling gear.

CAPTAIN - Harry Fotopoulos Captain Harry is a graduate of the Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Captain Class A’ Diploma. He also holds a Canadian Commercial Pilot license class B, sailing and speedboat license. He has over 15 years of experience onboard many types of Charter Yachts. He holds Certificates in GMDSS, Fire Fighting & First Aid, Personal Safety, Life Saving, and Ship Security. He has a great knowledge of the Greek islands and will navigate guests to remarkable destinations. During his one season on board he showed great leadership skills and received positive feedback from all guests. He is calm yet very outgoing and speaks very good English. DECKHAND - Konstantinos Santas CHIEF STEWARDESS - Mirella Davint Mirella has 8+ years of experience as a stewardess onboard charter and private yachts. She has a very pleasant personality and she aims to accommodate her guests to the fullest. Comments received from previous guests are memorable. This will be Mirella’s eighth season onboard. Mirella speaks English and she is 38 years old. ENGINEER - Stelios Mandos Stelios holds an Engineer Class B’ Diploma from the Greek Merchant Marine Academy as well as a Sailor’s License. He has over 15 years of experience onboard Ocean-Going Vessels and Charter Yachts. His hobbies include spearfishing and sailing. He speaks good English. Stelios is 45 years old, married with two children. CHEF - Thanasis Kiritsis Thanasis is 39 years old and has worked as a chef for more than 20 years in numerous hotels restaurants, yachts and resorts including owning his own pastry shop / bakery for 5 years. Thanasis looks forward to welcoming his guests on board and introducing them to his culinary world. He speaks good English and Greek. He is a young chef full of energy, skills and passion towards his job. We are confident that he will serve his guests unforgettable flavors. ASSISTANT STEWARDESS - Anastasia Yurash Anastasia is 31 years old and has been in the yachting industry since 2021. Her working experience includes 7 years as a housekeeper and assistant stewardess. Anastasia speaks very good English. One of Anastasia’s strongest attributes is her appetite for work. She is also very sociable, welcoming and looks forward to having guests on board S/Y Amadeus. Her hobbies include Latin dancing, snowboard and yoga.

A General Description of Sailing Yacht AMADEUS

AMADEUS was previously registered as project/yacht name Amadeus 1er. This 33 metre (109 ft) luxury yacht was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1991. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS is a well proportioned superyacht. The yacht is a modern sloop with a cutter rig. The naval architecture office whom authored the design work on this ship was Philippe Briand. Luxury yacht AMADEUS is a quality yacht that is able to accommodate as many as 12 guests on board and has a total of 5 crew members.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS was built by the famous Dynamique Yachts shipyard .The yacht features superb sailing characteristics which are complimented by her spacious interior and abundant deck space. Sailing sloop AMADEUS can accommodate 10 passengers in five cabins. With one large master stateroom and four additional cabins which are all air conditioned and have en suite bathrooms. She also has two separate salons and a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered with seating. The fore deck has an unique pool on deck and swimming in the sea is made accessible by a large swim aft platform.

The Construction & Naval Architecture relating to Luxury Yacht AMADEUS

Philippe Briand was the naval architect firm involved in the formal nautical design work for AMADEUS. Also the company Philippe Briand skillfully collaborated on this undertaking. In 1991 she was actually launched to triumph in Marans and following sea trials and final completion was afterwards passed on to the yacht owner. Dynamique Yachts completed their new build sailing yacht in France. A reasonable proportion is brought about with a maximum beam (width) of 7.5 metres / 24.6 feet. With a 3.6m (11.8ft) draught (maximum depth) she is reasonably deep. The material composite was used in the building of the hull of the sailing yacht. Her superstructure above deck is built with the use of composite. Over the deck of AMADEUS she is 32.7 (107.3 ft) in length. In 2004 extra refitting and modernisation was also finished.

Engines & Speed For S/Y AMADEUS:

She is driven by twin screw propellers. The main engine of the ship gives 375 horse power (or 276 kilowatts). She is equiped with 2 engines. The combined thrust for the boat is therefore 750 HP / 552 KW.

On board Superyacht AMADEUS She has The Following Guest Accommodation Format:

Bestowing bedding for a maximum of 12 yacht guests sleeping aboard, the AMADEUS accommodates them in style. Normally the vessel requires approximately 5 professional crewmembers to run.

Her master cabin features a walk around king bed, desk/vanity, and en-suite bathroom. Additionally, there are two guest cabins each with a queen bed convertible to two twins, and two guest cabins each with a queen bed and twin bed. Each guest cabin has an en-suite.

Her main salon has a spacious, contoured conversational area, along with a large, flatscreen T.V. The aft deck features al fresco dining with Bimini top. Up on deck there are sun pads and a splash pool for you and your guests to enjoy.

Watersports offered include a 15 foot tender with 75hp engine, water skis for adults and children, tube, wakeboard, kayak, fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and rendezvous diving.

Sailing yacht AMADEUS is a stunning 110 ft yacht available for charter in Greece. With a clean, spacious teak deck and a unique outdoor saloon that can seat up to 12 guests across two tables, it’s the perfect place for outdoor dining and entertainment. The deck saloon can also be enclosed with a special canopy and roll-up windows, making it suitable for use in all weather conditions. At the front of the boat, there’s a splash pool and sunbathing area with a removable awning for shade.

Inside the boat, a staircase from the cockpit leads to a well-lit and roomy saloon area with plenty of seating, including a formal dining area, bar, LCD TV, entertainment center, iPod dock station, and Playstation. Sailing Yacht AMADEUS can accommodate 10-12 guests in five large cabins, including a full-width master stateroom and two double cabins, each with an extra single bed. The two twin cabins can also be converted to doubles upon request, making her the only sailboat on the Greek market with five double beds.

To add to the fun, sailing yacht AMADEUS also comes with a range of water toys, including adult and children’s water skis, tubes, inflatable canoes, wakeboard, fishing rod, and snorkeling gear. She was built by Dynamique Yachts in 1996 and underwent a refit in 2014/2018.

ACCOMMODATION

Accomodation is offered for 10 -12 guests in 5 spacious cabins: Master cabin forward features a double bed, vanity unit and generous storage facilities, as well as audio/visual entertainment. The en-suite includess a large bath tub, shower and separate WC. Two identical double cabins with additional single bunks situated forward. Two identical double cabins situated aft which can be convertible to twins. (Total 5 double beds) All cabins with en suite facilities and audio/visual entertainment.

A professional crew of 5-6 members are accommodated in separate quarters.

Note that these specifications may vary slightly depending on the specific yacht’s configuration and modifications made by the owner.

Charter the AMADEUS

AMADEUS is a 110-foot sailing yacht that can accommodate ten to twelve passengers in five staterooms as follows: a spacious Owner’s stateroom with a double bed, a vanity and an entertainment unit including TV, DVD and music system; two cabins with a double bed and an additional single bed; two cabins with two twin beds each. All staterooms have en suite bathrooms, a TV, DVD and CD player. There are two separate salons onboard as well as a full dining room. The aft deck is fully covered and has seating for all guests to dine in the open air. Forward of the cockpit is a lovely cushioned area for sunning and an unusual pool is found in the fore of the yacht. Swimming in the sea is made accessible by the large swim aft platform.

She has accommodations for 18 guests and 19 crew members on board. The VIP suites have fold-down balconies that add to the grandeur.

The onboard atmosphere is bright and inviting with subtle finishes. The entertainment areas are open to provide more sheltered and intimate formal spaces.

The yacht has an extensive health and beauty center with a spa and an expansive beach club.

The beach club creates the perfect area for guests to enjoy indoor/outdoor living. There is also a swimming platform where guests can leap into the water below.

She has an on-deck jacuzzi to soak up the bubbles and the views. The yacht also has an elevator for convenient access to her different decks and a comprehensive gym onboard. The tender garage is brimming with towable toys and tenders.

Reymond Langton Design also contributed to the exterior design of the LADY LARA yacht. She was built by Lürssen and delivered from their Rendsburg shipyard in 2015. The exterior has sweeping curves and elegant but masculine features.

LADY LARA was code-named project Orchid when she was launched from the Lürssen Shipyard in 2015 and later renamed. She has a full displacement hull which gives her exceptional speeds in the water.

She has a white aluminum superstructure and teak decks throughout. The exterior is accented by underwater lights, which illuminate her at the night.

The LADY LARA yacht is a 91m superyacht with a beam of 14.82m and a draft of 4m. The vessel reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

She is powered by 2 MTU engines and has a displacement of 2,945 gross tons.

She features an advanced stabilization system that provides guests with the best comfort levels on board by minimizing the rolling motion of the vessel. The $180 million yacht has a $14 – $15 million annual running cost.

She is an award-winning yacht that holds an award from the Asia Boating competition in 2016. LADY LARA has a Lloyd’s Register classification.

A $1.4 Million-Per-Week Yacht Charter Experience

Y.CO has just welcomed the 298-foot Lürssen Lady Lara to the charter fleet. The lowest weekly base rate is $1.4 million for bookings this winter in the Caribbean and Bahamas.

The yacht is also listed for sale—at more than $254 million—for the first time since the German shipyard delivered it in 2015. Y.CO’s Max Bulley and Gary Wright, along with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates, represented the yacht at the recent Monaco Yacht Show.

“With Lürssen quality and stunning Reymond Langton design, Lady Lara is an exceptional yacht that was conceived with family living in mind,” Wright stated in a press release. “Her adaptable spaces, variety and flexibility, in addition to all the amazing features like the breathtaking spa area, the beach club and two pools, are ideal for multigenerational groups and put Lady Lara into a league of her own.”

Accommodations are for 12 guests in their choice of eight staterooms (for private use, the yacht is built to accommodate 16 guests). Six of the guest staterooms are on the main deck, with one on the lower deck. The master suite has its own private deck with an exterior terrace, outdoor hot tub, and indoor library. The aft-deck space in the owner’s area is called a “winter garden,” with sliding glass panels that can be closed to shelter diners from the elements.

There also are two cabins for owner’s staff or supernumeraries, in addition to the yacht’s quarters for 27 crew.

Onboard amenities include an aft-deck pool whose floor can be raised to create a dance floor. A sound system on this deck helps to create a discotheque-style environment for parties. There’s another pool up on the sundeck, this one with a swim-up bar.

On the bridge deck, guests have access to the spa, which includes a hammam, massage room, treatment room, beauty salon and gymnasium. Guests who prefer to get their exercise outdoors can do so from the beach club at water level, which has a steam room and a sauna along with a sunbathing area.

For rainy days and relaxing nights, the lower deck aboard Lady Lara includes a cinema. There’s also a touch-and-go helipad on board, if guests want to escape to a different spot up the coast.

How fast can Lady Lara cruise? According to Y.CO, the yacht has a top speed of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 14 knots, which is plenty fast for exploring the islands.
