Ideal destinations for renting a Bali 4.8

Bali 4.8

  • Model Range

To date, the BALI 4.8 Open Space is the only catamaran of its size to offer a layout configuration in 6 cabins and 6 bathrooms. Never seen before, if the two forepeaks are fitted out and adding the bench seats in the saloon, no less than 16 adults could sleep inside, not counting the outdoor spaces, benches and sunbathing area, forward, aft and on the fly bridge that can comfortably accommodate lovers of stargazing...  But to accommodate all the crew comfortably, you need very large storage capacity. With 1,000 litres of fresh water and 615 litres of refrigeration volume, the BALI 4.8 Open Space is at the top of its category... including the ice-maker!

If the BALI 4.8 is named the "Open Space", it is not by chance. Like the BALI 5.4, the super-sized interior space is completely "open" and "transforms", thanks to the large motorized tilt-and-turn door that fully opens up the space in seconds, and the new forward door that provides access to the bows and forward cockpit with its lounge space and large sunbathing area, without having to use the external side-decks. The large, fully retractable front window and sliding side windows provide optimal ventilation and panoramic views of the outdoors. Another new feature, inherited from the 5.4 for increased privacy, is access to the aft cabins (or central cabins depending on the configuration) which is via two large hatches opening into the aft cockpit. The companionways give easy and secure access to comfortable cabins with a warm atmosphere.

Five years after their launch, it’s clear that the Bali range, created from scratch by Olivier Poncin, has silenced the doomsayers. Not only have the Catana Group become one of the top four catamaran builders in the world, but they are also pursuing their ambition by producing a model to match every size offered by the competition. While waiting for a 4.6, the 4.8, the brand’s seventh opus, is filling a fairly large gap between the 5.4 and the 4.5, with all the expected Bali features - and some new ones too.

With their rigid foredeck, their fully open interior, their full-width tilt-and-turn door transforming the saloon into a cockpit - or vice versa, in a matter of seconds - their huge 220 V refrigerators “just like at home”, Bali has made the most conservative yachtsmen who haven’t yet assimilated the multihull revolution shout out loud. Even their aficionados were skeptical about the “behavior at sea”, the “performance”, the “stiffness” of the whole platform... But this was forgetting that the Bali brand didn’t come out of nowhere. Technically, Bali boats benefit from Catana’s know-how, notably an integral construction in closed-cell PVC foam sandwich, and above all bulkheads which are not simply glued but laminated, a guarantee of rigidity and longevity. The yard’s facilities have grown exponentially in Canet-en-Roussillon, in the South of France: from around 100 employees, the group has grown to nearly 900 including its sites at La Rochelle and in Tunisia. The 350 catamarans produced in less than five years confirm the step up to an industrial pace.

The Essence of Innovation

The BALI 4.8 Open Space brings together the best of the original characteristics that make up the DNA of BALI catamarans.

In addition to the recognized innovations such as the rigid forward cockpit with lounge area and sunbathing area; the new platform linking the two sugarscoops with large bench seat and lockers; the large tilt and-turn door and sliding windows; and a panoramic relaxation area on the coachroof, the BALI 4.8 offers, as does the 5.4, new access to the forward cockpit by an interior door and cabins by panels opening onto the aft cockpit, and a 6 cabin / 6 bathroom version unheard of on a 48 footer.

bali 4.8 catamaran layout

Specifications

To date, the BALI 4.8 Open Space is the only catamaran of its size to offer a layout configuration in 5 cabins and 5 bathrooms. Never seen before, if the two forepeaks are fitted out and adding the bench seats in the saloon and a fly bridge that can comfortably accommodate lovers of stargazing. The super-sized interior space is completely “open” and “transforms”, thanks to the large, motorized tilt-and-turn door that fully opens up the space in seconds, and the new forward door that provides access to the bows and forward cockpit with its lounge space and large sunbathing area, without having to use the external side-decks. The large, fully retractable front window and sliding side windows provide optimal ventilation and panoramic views of the outdoors. Another new feature, inherited is for increased privacy, access to the aft cabins (or central cabins depending on the configuration) which is via two large hatches opening into the aft cockpit. The companionways give easy and secure access to comfortable cabins with a warm atmosphere. The forward cockpit is big enough for the entire family to enjoy – no space goes to waste, or you can enjoy the 360 views from the flybridge equipped with sun beds and table. This beauty boasts two Yammer 80hp engines. On Point has air conditioning throughout with a generator and solar panels, roller furling and electric winches. She has a beautifully efficient well-equipped galley with a full-size refrigerator & freezer, 4 burner stove, oven, microwave oven, blender and your choice of a French press, percolator or electric coffee maker for coffee. She boasts standard U.S. plugs throughout with 110 systems, electric freshwater heads and a propane BBQ grill. Her amenities include a stereo with Bluetooth capabilities with auxiliary input and inverter for charging your cell phones, etc. She holds 211 gallons of fuel, 260 gallons of water and draws 4 ft, 5 inches.
