Decatur man killed in Moulton accident

MOULTON, Ala. ( WAFF ) - A Decatur man was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Moulton on Tuesday.

Police said the incident happened near the area of Alabama Highway 157 and Pickens Avenue around 8 p.m.

Officers identified the pedestrian struck as 75-year-old Jerry Wayne Sanders. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sanders had been a tenant at the Relax Inn in Moulton.

Police said it appears Sanders was trying to cross the highway from a nearby restaurant when he was struck. It’s believed he was going back to the inn at the time of the accident.

The accident remains under investigation.
