Virgin Islands Entry Regulations

With the health crisis is almost at an end , Covid regulations in the British Virgin Islands have changed. They have not disappeared, but transferred into a bureaucracy war of work permit and trade licences.

What that means is that your charter starting in USVI might not go to the BVI because the paperwork did not make it through. How can you be sure that your selected yacht has the necessary paperwork to go? That depends on your dates. Consult your preferences with us and we’ll be very direct about where your selected yacht is in terms of feasibility of a BVI charter. Note that the rules are subject to, often very unexpected, changes.

BVI charter guests on vacation are no longer required to register for entry clearance or show proof of travel insurance, regardless of their vaccination status. Also, there is no longer the need to present a COVID-19 test result upon arrival in the British Virgin Islands.

A beautiful island in the British Virgin Islands, Jost Van Dyke is a must-see for yacht charters looking to experience some of the best scuba diving in the world. The waters around the Jost Van Dyke land are flourishing with marine life- creating an incredible opportunity for snorkeling and other water sports.

Even though it is one of the smallest leeward islands in the  BVI , the yacht charters will be treated to  spectacular scenery  and authentic experiences in Jost Van Dyke. My family and I sailed with a group of 7 other friends for a week on the catamaran, Sol Liv, captained by James along with Robyn who was also the chef. We had an amazing vacation. James and Robyn are great people. They know the BVIs well and took us to so many beautiful spots. Plus, Robyn is a very talented chef. Our vacation was truly relaxing with James and Robyn in charge of all the details. The boat is amazing as well. Truly a floating hotel. We will be talking about this vacation for the rest of our lives.

Our 59' cat, Miles Away, was immaculate and comfortable, with far more than enough space for our three families. We had considered going without the captain and chef, and were so glad we didn't -- Chris showed us so much more of the islands than we would've been able to attempt ourselves, and made the entire thing effortless and 100% stress-free. His local knowledge (he grew up there) was a bonus. And Jena's meals were impeccable. She not only easily adapted to some special requests we had, but made a birthday breakfast for my daughter. Everything she cooked was tasty and creative, and she was both professional and fun to be around. We all miss them both & wish them the best!

Regarding our trip on 'Sol Liv' in May, 2022, we had a wonderful time with Capt. Tony Cook and his lovely wife Claudia. They took care of our every need and blended in immediately with our group of twelve. All of us were thrilled with the exceptional level of care. Captain Tony coached, bartended, entertained and dozens of other tasks with an eye on customer service. He clearly loves his wife. Claudia had delicious and creative meals and abundant midday treats for us. She made special dishes for dietary concerns. She is the quiet center in the swirl of activity around the boat. They are wonderful people and we were fortunate to spend time with them. Certainly one of our best trips to the islands!

We just returned from an 11-guest 6-night BVI trip on the 65’ powercat “Out of Office” (Voyage Charters out of Soper's Hole in Tortola). Our captain was Blade Goodall and our chef was Nia Mora. We have done these trips before and Captain Blade and Chef Nia were by far the best we have ever had. Captain Blade was engaging, knowledgeable, funny, and flexible. We made a number of adjustments to our trip on the fly and he was very accommodating. All of the pre-planned excursion details (Mokes and dinner reservations on Anegada, scuba diving at Virgin Gorda, etc.) were perfect. The unscheduled impromptu activities (e-foils at Virgin Gorda, snorkeling, tubing, water skiing, fishing, bar hopping, etc.) were amazing and Captain Blade always took the time to ensure everyone was having fun. Chef Nia was creative, engaging, and highly talented. Every meal was fantastic and our group of 11 never went hungry! One of the highlights was Chef Nia preparing the 50-pound King Mackerel that Captain Blade helped us catch on the crossing from Anegada to Jost Van Dyke. With zero notice, Chef Nia cancelled her previously planned dinner and prepared an incredible fresh fish dinner complete with homemade teriyaki sauce, watermelon salsa, and perfect rice. This was a lot more work for her but she did it with a smile! Both Captain Blade and Chef Nia worked hard from sunrise to well after sunset each day ensuring that the trip was perfect for all 11 of our guests. We all had tears in our eyes when we said goodbye to them but will definitely request them on a future trip!

They were extremely nice and helped us decide on what plans to make each day. Tate was extremely knowledgeable of the boat and the islands. He grew up in Jost Van Dyke and was able to give us good advice on what to do. My husband liked that Tate was always calm. Justine was a fantastic chef. She made sure our food met the information we provided ahead of time. Every meal was well thought out and delicious. Thank you both for a wonderful experience. The Voyage 520 boat was very nice. I would suggest maybe a couple more bean bags up front for people to lay when the boat is at sail.

BVI YACHT CHARTER FAQ'S

• Can I fly into the BVI for my charter? While flights in and out of St. Thomas remain the most popular pick, typically due to preferred routes, flight times, and pricing, our other suggested option is to take a commercial flight in and out of San Juan, Puerto Rico with a connecting flight to the BVI and back. We will assist with connecting flight recommendations or with private charter flight reservations either from Puerto Rico to the BVI and back or from St. Thomas to the BVI and back.
• What’s the best way to get to the BVI and back from St. Thomas? Many of our clients take private water taxis from St. Thomas to the BVI and back for their charters. While more expensive than a commercial ferry, this option offers a faster and far more seamless, luxury experience. Once your flights are confirmed, we’ll be happy to assist with water taxi reservations.
• If I fly into St. Thomas, can my charter start and end there? While the crewed fleet was able to offer St. Thomas ports and a BVI itinerary through July 2023, crewed charters that occur in the BVI after October 2023 will require a BVI pick-up and drop-off.

The well-esteemed charterer will appreciate the main deck, with all the primary living areas on a single level, including the massive aft deck with dining for 10 and lounging for 8, a bar, and ample storage lockers. The large saloon offers seating for 8, separate inside formal dining for 8, gourmet galley with island, and bar with 4 stools. Forward on the main deck is the glamorous full-beam master stateroom with walk around King bed, 180-degree views, a spacious en-suite bathroom, a sofa, a vanity, and ample storage.

Why would you choose a Catamaran for your vacation?

Catamarans are popular for their stability, wide decks, and ease of access. If you want to explore the Caribbean with maximum comfort, chartering a catamaran is the perfect choice.

Cat cruising according to some is the crème de la crème of charter boats. The greatest advantage of a catamaran as a vacation sailing craft is the amount of space they offer. Enjoy bigger cabins and lots of space on deck to move around.

Yacht description.

We love these Sunreef yachts as they are so luxuriously finished, with lots of space and and a very modern interior. Layout is 4 queen cabins each with ensuite bathrooms with separate shower stalls. There is great headroom throughout with lots of natural light from the signature upright windows.

The salon is very contemporary with light wood floors and white leather sofas and an indoor dining option if you prefer the comfort of a/c. Impressive sliding doors lead seamlessly into the cockpit, which boasts a large sun bathing pad, comfortable seating and outdoor dining area. Upstairs to the flybridge, which is probably the most popular area on the yacht for relaxing, eating and generally hanging out with amazing views.

Rendezvous diving

If your crewed charter yacht does not offer onboard diving then fear not, rendezvous diving can be arranged.

So what is Rendezvous diving?

A local dive company will pick you up direct from your charter yacht at a pre-determined location and take you for a one- or two-tank dive to experience the BVI below the water. This is an excellent option if only a couple of guests wish to dive or can work equally as well if all your group are interested. If your charter yacht offers minimal onboard diving, then rendezvous diving can also work if you wanted to add a few more dives during your charter.

Rendezvous diving is at additional cost, payable locally. The dive company provides all gear.
