A sunny ceremony will take place on the north dock, overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway as sunset creates a magical backdrop for your first kiss as a married couple. Guests will continue to enjoy the fantastic water views while enjoying a gentle sea breeze and a cocktail as you take unforgettable wedding photos on the water. The reception of your dreams takes place in the ballroom, with the warm light of sunset setting the stage for party magic. Your friends and family will drink a toast to you as newlyweds as you cut your cake and enjoy fantastic dishes prepared by the yacht club’s private chef. Dance the night away as the stars come out to twinkle over the water to add sparkle to your perfect wedding day.

The rental fee is $1,500 for a reception and includes 5 hours of event time excluding set up and clean up time and additional hours can be arranged for a fee. There is a guest minimum applied to all events. A refundable security deposit of $500 is required. Please inquire with venue wedding coordinator for more details.

Avalon Yacht Club Wedding | Christy Pettit & Eric Hagan

It was a perfect day to cruise down the shore for Christy and Eric’s wedding at the Avalon Yacht Club. The day promised to bring lots of love and great pictures, so with our fingers crossed for a brilliant sunset, we set to work.

Getting Ready at AirBnbs

When getting ready down the shore, renting an AirBnb is a fantastic idea! You can easily put everyone up for the night, make sure there’s tons of snacks, have lots of room for hair and makeup and plenty of natural light. Christy was enjoying a lull in the bustle of the day when we arrived. Her details had already been arranged by her planner Angelina, though a breeze had disturbed them so we reset them quickly. The pop of blue she had was so perfect for a beach wedding. Her sister and maid of honor had made a special champagne bottle to be enjoyed that evening. All this led to the show stopping veil. Christy’s aunt had made it, and fashioned it out of her mother’s wedding dress while mimicking that dress design! It was truly stunning and the perfect compliment to Christy’s dress.

Speaking of, we wasted no time in having her get dressed so we could make it to the church on time. Our one stop on the way to the Avalon Yacht Club. Avalon Yacht Club is a near and dear venue to us , and it was a joy to be back.

Eric meantime, was in an AirBnb up the island a bit. He was in good spirits though a touch nervous as he got dressed. He is crazy about Christy and was beyond excited to marry her. As he finished his final buttons and tying his tie, the transformation was complete and it was time to get to the church.

The Wedding at Maris Stella Church

The stage was set for a beautiful wedding ceremony before heading down to the Avalon Yacht Club. However, sometimes things go a little haywire. Christy’s dad needed an extra moment before walking down the aisle, so we waited patiently for everyone to be good to go. Christy rolled with it well, and was soon on her way to Eric. He was patiently waiting at the altar for her and we had a feeling he would’ve waited forever if she’d needed him to.

Their Catholic ceremony united them forever as husband and wife, after they’d exchanged their vows and stunning wedding bands. Time for pictures and a great party!

Portraits at the Avalon Yacht Club

When we arrived at the Avalon Yacht Club, everything was nearly set for a great reception for Eric and Christy, but first we needed some cozy wedding day portraits of the newlyweds and their best friends. Wedding party had a great time during their pictures and then scurried off to cocktail hour. When we were alone with Christy and Eric, we made short work of their wedding day portraits. We used some smaller corners of the Avalon Yacht Club, getting creative with our perspectives to bring a totally different vibe. The only question that remained was if the sunset would cooperate. Spoiler alert: it did.

The Reception at Avalon Yacht Club

With a larger wedding party on deck, Christy and Eric decided to have them announced into their wedding as one entity. They charged into the Avalon Yacht Club reception and got the crowd pumped for the grand entrance of the newlyweds. As the new Mr and Mrs Hagan were announced, they appeared on the balcony and waved to their adoring friends and family before making their way into the ballroom. They immediately shared their first dance and parent dances before guests took their seats for dinner. Christy’s dad gave a touching and funny speech in her honor, and welcomed Eric into the family. Eric was brutally mocked for never responding to text messages by his best man, while Christy was heralded as one of the kindest individuals you’d have the chance to meet by her sister and maid of honor.

While toasts were wrapping up, the sun sank low in the sky. Sunset approached and, holy cow, was it worth it! We snuck outside to the dock and captured some incredible portraits of these two before turning them loose to party the night away.

Joining the Avalon Yacht Club is a great way to enhance your summer at the Jersey Shore. The AYC has many activities for everyone in the family! Each year we have events such as a house tour, a fashion show, and a golf tournament. These are just a few of events we have each year! We also have parties on our North Deck such as “Back to Philly Night”, a festive tribute to Philadelphia, where everyone wears Philadelphia sports attire. We also have many activities for children, including a complete sailing program, and even a Jr. Commodore’s Ball! This is a great way for your children to meet friends at the shore. Every Sunday night in the dining room, we have a magician that is sure to entertain you and your family personally right at your table! AYC offers a variety of sailing events and racing series for adults and juniors. We sail a range of boats including the Optimist, Sunfish, Laser, Club 420 and a small number of offshore keelboats. In addition to the club level events, the AYC hosts three invitational events including the Avalon MAYRA Regatta, AYC Juniors Regatta and the Avalon Cup Offshore Race. The AYC is a great place for any occasion. Whether it is a nice dinner with the family, a corporate dinner to impress colleagues, or just to stop in while out on the boat, the AYC can accommodate most events. Also, as a member of the Avalon Yacht Club, you have reciprocity to almost any yacht club around the world. Download the Membership Application and mail to the appropriate address or stop in the Club office for an application. AVALON YACHT CLUB 2024 MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION & FEES All fees effective 1/1/24 Annual Member An annual membership entitles the member, spouse/spouse equivalent/significant other and all children up to and including the age of 25 to all club privileges. Annual memberships are not permitted to attend the annual proprietors meeting, cannot vote on any pending issue brought to the proprietors for a decision and are not eligible to be a club officer or trustee. Annual membership is a temporary class limited to three seasons of membership after which the member must apply for proprietary status in order to continue membership. Annual members are subject to the following charges: Annual Yearly Dues: $2,340.00 Restaurant Minimum: $600.00 Initiation Fee: $2,900.00 (first year only) *Building Fund Assessment: $125.00 Total: $5,965.00 Individual Member An individual membership entitles a single (unmarried) member who is at least 21 years of age, to all club privileges. Individual members are not permitted to attend the annual proprietors meeting, cannot vote on any pending issue brought to the proprietors for a decision and are not eligible to be a club officer or trustee. This membership class is intended for new members to become acclimated to the club and is limited to three seasons of membership. Beyond this period an individual member must apply for proprietary status in order to continue membership. Individual members are subject to the following charges: Individual Yearly Dues: $1,840.00 Restaurant Minimum: $300.00 Initiation Fee: $2,900.00 (first year only) *Building Fund Assessment: $125.00 Total: $5,165.00  *The non-refundable assessment will accrue towards a proprietary bond  All dues and fees listed are current as of the date shown above but subject to change by the Board of Trustees.
