  • yolandamU3608HP 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Overall Good We loved both the plantation tour and the swamp boat ride. Jim, our tour guide for the Destrehan plantation was very knowledgeable and did a good job of explaining the history. After the Plantation Tour me and mom pulled Jim aside to discuss more of New Orleans rich history! As we were speaking we learned about how black women owned a lot of land in the French Quarter, the contracts some of them took to have a better life for them and their kids and the Free Colored People at that time! We believe that adding this information would be a full circle moment to the tour itself, turning it from good to great! However, our favorite part was the swamp boat ride, we had the best tour guide ever! TOM IS THE BOMB!! If you guys can choose, please try and get Tom to be your swamp boat tour guide. He was funny, kept our interest and very knowledgeable about the bayou and swamps. Never a dull moment with him! Read more Written April 8, 2024
  • Q427BQlizt 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Very enjoyable day - highly recommended Great and interesting trip. Our guide Kate and the driver Trianice were excellent and we learnt so much from Kate. I do think they skirted around some topics too much ..,there should be recognition for the atrocities that the slaves suffered. The swamp tour was much better than I thought it would be. Captain Dennis was ever good and very funny. We saw many alligators raccoons and wild boar. Highly recommended Read more Written April 8, 2024

  • celestefraei 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles Wonderful full day tour Fantastic full day tour. Great to see some of Louisiana outside of NO. Tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared so much of the history and facts. The plantation was wonderful. Swamp tour was a real surprise. I didn't think I'd ever describe a swamp as beautiful but it really was. Our guide was very entertaining and we saw alligators, turtles, raccoons and hogs. Read more Written April 7, 2024

  • V6260GUamberb 0 contributions 2.0 of 5 bubbles Disappointed I have done this tour many times through the years. I live nearby and bring friends and family when they come to visit. I was disappointed in the changes that occurred since I last brought friends. I used to love the whole experience with the dresses, the wonderful story of the home and families, and the ability to take pictures. I guess it changed in 2018 and not for the better. It's still a beautiful place to visit, but it was a short tour and just blah. I would attach a photo but they don't allow photography inside. Read more Written April 7, 2024

But you can’t say the same about the only cemetery we visited, namely St. Louis Cemetery 3. I would have preferred to see the Lafayette, much larger and more important, than the St. Louis 3 which had little or nothing. I would have expected at least St. Louis 1. The Sunnyvale Downtown Association and Broadcom present their 3rd annual Jazz & Beyond series, "A Musical Dining Experience." The series includes live music & food from over twenty restaurants located on Murphy Avenue. "Picture one huge street, explains Joel Wyrick, Executive Director of the Sunnyvale Downtown Association, "You sit down and your sever presents you a menu featuring over twenty different restaurants ranging from Mediterranean to Thai food with over ten fancy wines to choose from. Literally, everyone sitting at your table can order from a different restaurant thus eliminating that dreadful dilemma of going out to dinner with family or friends and having to decide on what cuisine everyone is willing to agree on. Simply put, there is nothing out there like this event." The series will run for eight weeks starting Saturday July 9th, 2011, 5:30pm-8:30pm on historic Murphy Avenue in Downtown Sunnyvale.

How it works...diners will sit down and receive a master menu from a server. Diners will call in their order to their chosen restaurant and the restaurant will deliver the menu item to the diner's table. The close proximity of the twenty restaurants (Murphy Avenue boasts over 20 restaurants within 300 feet each other) makes this an easy deliverable experience. "What makes this event so appealing and different from all other festivals and events I've ever seen is that this event directly increases my bottom line. There are no outside food vendors. All of the participants are local restaurants with a physical location on the street," states Joe Antuzzi, restaurant participant.

Craft Scenic Riverboat Cruise Sets Sail On New Dining Option

riverboat jazz dinner cruise

Craft, Tampa’s first dining river cruise, officially launched on March 8 to much celebratory fanfare including a ribbon-cutting with Tampa Mayor Jane Castor. Locals and visitors are invited to indulge in a one-of-a-kind culinary and cocktail river journey on this low-profile vessel resembling a European riverboat. At less than 11 feet in vertical height, the boat passes beneath the several low bridges in downtown Tampa. The two-hour cruises will feature an elevated dining and cocktail experience while letting guests enjoy Tampa’s most scenic waterways, including the Hillsborough River and downtown channels.

Craft is a multimillion-dollar investment and features many firsts for Tampa and the passenger vessel industry. Craft is the first dining cruise in the United States with an open kitchen and cook-to-order galley using gas cooking equipment. In addition, Craft is the first low-profile river dining cruise vessel in Florida and features a boat on a boat with a 1914 vintage wood cruiser reclaimed as the Bow & Stern Bar.

“The river cruiser far exceeds our expectations and vision,” said Troy Manthey, president and CEO. “I am confident locals and visitors will be equally as impressed with the culinary and cocktail river journey we’ll take them on.”

Craft is 130 feet in length with a capacity of 150 passengers featuring three dining options: indoor, outdoor or bar dining. Executive chef Allison Beasman, formerly of Edison: Food + Drink Lab, has created an incredible three-course menu for dinner, brunch, lunch and special occasions.

“Tampa is a food-forward destination,” said Beasman. “I’m inspired by the concept of Craft: craft of culinary arts, craft of elevated cocktails and spirits, craft of a vessel that takes you on an explorative journey. I look forward to welcoming guests on the Craft journey.”

Craft is part of the Manthey Hospitality portfolio that owns and operates a unique collection of brands, including Yacht StarShip, Florida’s largest fleet of dining yachts. Since 2001, the company has called Tampa home. In addition, the group owns and operates Pirate Water Taxi, launched in 2016; the Lost Pearl pirate adventure cruise, launched in 2020; the Bay Rocket speed boat thrill ride, launched in 2022; Tampa Riverwalk Rentals, launched in 2023; and, of course, the newest addition to the fleet — Craft.

Craft is located at 603 Channelside Dr. in Tampa at the StarShip dock adjacent to Sparkman Wharf.

Reservations are now open. For more information, please visit https://crafttampa.com/ or follow Craft on Facebook and Instagram.
