Start your Monaco yacht charter in Portofino. Originally a small fishing village shaded by eucalyptus and olive trees, it's become a sunny and relaxing paradise on the Ligurian Riviera. Porto Cervo

Following an overnight crossing, you’ll wake up in the capital of the exclusive Costa Smeralda, Porto Cervo. The breathtaking views, crystal-clear water, golf, tennis, great food and night-life are the main attractions of this Meditteranean gem. Blessed with many beautiful sandy beaches, relax and enjoy playing with water toys in the magnificent waters of Porto Cervo. Cruise to Liscia di Vacca for a late lunch or for some tranquillity and relaxation time. This beautiful bay boasts clear turquoise water and is situated between the harbours Porto Cervo and Pevero. When the sun goes, head to Cervo’s lively marina for dinner and drinks in the evening.

Cala di Volpe

Arrive in the morning after a short cruise in Cala di Volpe, a beautiful wide bay fringed with sandy beaches and clear waters that’s perfect for snorkelling and watersports. Spend the day anchored off the bay of Cala di Volpe which is well protected from the wind, Its crowning feature is the spectacular five-star Hotel Cala di Volpe at the end of the bay. This hotel is overlooked by the Pevero Golf Course and on the other side are the fabulous villas of La Celvia.

La Maddalena

Start the day with breakfast on-board before enjoying the water toys in La Maddalena Archipelago. When you’re tired, it’s time to relax between Caprera and Maddalene, nicknamed ‘swimming pool bay’ thanks to its crystal clear waters. Stopover at the marine reserve of Lavezzi, known to divers as ‘Meruville’ due to its impressive tally of resident Meru (or grouper) fish. The reef comprises a series of rocky pinnacles coated in yellow cup coral, ideal for snorkelling. Spend the night anchored between Caprera and Maddalena.

You’ll arrive at St Tropez in time for breakfast. This modern version of a medieval town is popular for the line of stylish yachts along the quay and quaint terrace cafes. The small picturesque streets are perhaps more famous for the multitude of boutiques and restaurants than for any historical significance. Relax and enjoy watersports and swimming in the lovely blue waters of the Bay of St Tropez before cruising to St Tropez Port late afternoon ahead of sunset.

In the morning you'll have a leisurely breakfast whilst cruising to Monaco. Spend the afternoon enjoying watersports, swimming and soaking up the sun. Shop at the famous Cercle d’Or, check out the alleys of the old town or browse the galleries of the Métropole shopping centre and the Allées Lumières. For a night out on the town, the Casino and Hotel de Paris are all synonymous with Monaco. Go for drinks at the hotel’s famous American Bar, or try Louis XV by Alain Ducasse. You could dine at Cipriani to experience its luxury nautical theme and Mediterranean menu, or try La Trattoria by Alain Ducasse and its Tuscan-inspired Italian cuisine.

The Yacht Club de Monaco plays a dynamic leading role in the life of Monaco’s main port, according to its statutes and mission which are for the Club to serve as “a link between those who love the sea and the interests of tourism and promoting the Principality”.

Bringing together some of the world’s most prestigious private yachts under its burgee, notably a quarter of the world’s 100 largest superyachts, the Yacht Club de Monaco plays a key role on the international yachting scene. Providing a true link between seamen, the Yacht Club de Monaco’s aim is to assist all industry professionals and unite all the yachting players around it “Art de Vivre la Mer”.

M/Y MONACO is a 37,90m (124' 4") Feadship motor yacht built by Van Lent in 1982 that has been completely refitted. Motor yacht MONACO features Dutch craftsmanship recognized the world over and features interior design by H.W.De Voogt. Yacht MONACO accommodates up to 8 guests and is based in the Western Mediterranean.

Motor yacht MONACO has a spacious main saloon that offers a variety of entertainment areas. There is a fully equipped bar and an informal seating arrangement of large comfortable sofas, occasional chairs and low tables. Further forward and adjoining the salon is the formal dining area.

MONACO Specifications

Feadship motor yacht MONACO offers accommodation for up to 8 guests in 4 cabins. There are two master staterooms and two twin staterooms. One of the master cabins is on located on the main deck and features a queen size bed, walk-in closet and en-suite bathroom. The other master is located below decks and spans the full beam featuring a king size bed, walk-in closet and en-suite bath. The Twin staterooms are equal in size and feature twin beds and en-suite bathrooms.

MONACO offers three superb deck areas. The open-air aft deck is perfect for casual dining, while the boat deck offers brilliant views of the passing coastlines. The sun deck is the perfect spot to enjoy the warm sunshine in total privacy.

Built in 1982, Monaco offers guest accommodation for up to 8 guests in 4 suites comprising a master suite, one VIP cabin and two twin cabins. There are 6 beds in total, including 1 king, 1 queen and 4 singles. She is also capable of carrying up to 7 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht charter experience.

Monaco benefits from some excellent features to improve your charter including air conditioning to keep your comfortable throughout your charter.

Performance & Range

Monaco is built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Powered by twin Caterpillar engines, she comfortably cruises at 10 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 14 knots with a range of up to 4,606 nautical miles from her 37,500 litre fuel tanks at cruising speed.

Onboard Monaco has a range of toys and accessories to keep you and your guests entertained on the water throughout your stay. Principle among these is a sailboat to bring out the explorer in you. Also there are three towable toys offering fun and adventure. In addition there are three waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. If that isn't enough Monaco also features scuba diving equipment, kayaks and inflatable water toys. When it's time to travel from land to see, it couldn't be easier with a Avon Sports RIB.

Monaco is available upon request for charter this winter. She is already accepting bookings this summer for cruising in the Mediterranean.

Arrow Monaco CEO Yerin Hobson

One of the many things I’ve learned after decades of writing about superyachts is…there’s always more to learn. And that’s why I’m so excited Arrow Monaco owner and CEO Yerin Hobson agreed to talk to me recently. Arrow Monaco is yacht and project management company with a team of 40 people (in offices in Monaco and Ft. Lauderdale) who are currently managing almost 20 new builds and five refits.

And since they handle everything from helping an owner find the right yacht designer down to the finest construction cost and detail, I’ve learned just how important they are in the superyacht industry even though they usually operate behind the scenes and below the radar. With roots in the practical skills needed for day-to-day large yacht operations at sea and on shore Yerin’s team can do “almost anything.” And as Yerin explains, when it comes to managing every aspect of superyacht design, construction, and operation, being able to have the technical know-how and experience to do “almost anything” comes in handy on a regular basis.

BS: I’ve been to plenty of shipyards. And I’ve visited lots of yacht design studios. But I never really understood how critical companies like Arrow Monaco are to the superyacht industry. Can you give me an example of how Arrow Monaco manages a new build?

YH: Absolutely. A good example is an 80 meter new build project we signed the day before the Monaco Yacht Show started in September last year. We were appointed at ground zero, so one of the first things we did was write the technical specification along with interior and exterior designer for the entire project.

Then we approached three different shipyards and selected one based on the price and the technical information that they came back with. After that, we entered a four-month R&D phase that includes all the technical documentation and to signing of the build contract. The importance is the detail. Writing the specification from the very start of the project helps us protect the client against future issues. And as of today, there has not been one single variation to contract or cost change on this project.

BS: can you tell me a little bit about how you formed the relationship with a client that allows you to sort of have that ability to be so exacting right from the beginning?

YH: Trust is everything. For this specific client, I went to meet with him when he was chartering a large yacht in the Caribbean. When it comes to building trust, nothing compares with sitting across the table with the client, designers, and shipyard reps.

When the client understands that we really know what we are doing, and you have a team that has been doing this for a long time, it's key. Trust is everything because this relationship is for life. It's not just building the boat. It's then operating the boat. Dealing with refits. It's a lifelong relationship. They can also trust us became we are not brokers and have zero commissions.

BS: So, what happens after you successfully navigate a owner through a multi-year new build phase? They love the boat. Then what? What do you do next?

YH: The next phase actually starts as the management team gets involved on the operational side about two years prior to launch. We help the owner find the right captain and crew along with many other details. And then finally at six months out, the entire crew arrives for training and familiarization.

Naturally, if we have built the boat and know every detail, every change, every system, then logical that we’re the right people to manage the yacht. That way if we have a problem, we supervised most of the systems installation alongside the shipbuilder so we can give the owner all necessary information to find efficient solutions.

BS: You do way more than just new build management, right?

YH: It's broken down into five categories: operational management, crew management, financial management, technical management and safety and security management. The client should be able to see where every cent is being spent, and it should be managed by somebody. I say this because this is our business model is similar to a family office style of operating a yacht that’s 100% transparent. All our accounting, compliance and crew systems are online so our client’s always have the information they need in real time.

I guess the real success story of Arrow how we deal with people. We value our relationships. We respect the people we work with and we strive to keep everybody happy while always getting the job done and most of all, protecting our clients every step of the way.

Monaco Ocean Week 2024: four takeaways from the event

Monaco Ocean Week’s Yachting Days drew to a close on Friday 22 March after two days of talks, seminars and networking dedicated to the advancement of industry sustainability. Held at the Yacht Club de Monaco under its “Capital of Advanced Yachting” initiative, the agenda kicked off with the 13th Environmental Symposium, which was hosted in collaboration with the Explorers Club to “shape the future of the high seas and stimulate investment in cutting-edge marina technologies”.

At the Yacht Club de Monaco the Explorer Awards ceremony

MONACO, March 25, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Awarding the owners who stand out for their commitment to protecting the marine environment. It is the aim of the YCM Explorer Awards by  La Belle Classe   Superyachts  that were handed out at a ceremony held at the Yacht Club de Monaco on Thursday 20th March after an environmental symposium dedicated to exploration, as part of the activities planned for the Ocean Week and under the aegis of the collective ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ approach. Organised under the presidency of HSH Prince Albert II, since 2019 it is awarded by a jury of professionals. Attending the event there were the prince of Monaco Albert II and many famous explorers such as Mike Horn, Bertrand Piccard, Nina Lanza, Kathryn Sullivan and Victor Vescovo. A large delegation of the New York based Explorers Club also took part in the event. 

Four awards were handed out: Technology & Innovation went to the 25 meter ‘Cachalote’ who also got a four star Sea Index certificate for sustainability: “I’m moved because we dreamt about a ship that we had never seen before. The construction of it considered many elements such as the culture of our ancestors, the impact of nature and sustainability,” said owner Francisca Cortés Solari. The Science & Discovery went to 68 meter Archimedes: “I feel very lucky to have gone to so many places yet I feel like we’re just scratching the surface and coming to understand what the problems are. I feel very surpised that we won the award. I thought that we might be a candidate but never thought that we could win.” The Adventure & Environmental Ethics award went to 49 meter motor yacht ‘Gigi’: “I got a little emotional up there on the stage. From the beginning of this project we wanted to be different. Just to be invited to speak here it’s the confirmation that we’re doing it right. To get this tonight, I’m just speechless didn't expect it,” said owner Carl Allen. A special ‘Coup de Cœur’ prize was handed out to 47 meter motor yacht ‘Latitude’. Picking up the prize was captain Sean Meagher on behalf of the owner Anil Thadani: “We just won the Explorer award at the Yacht Club de Monaco in combination with the Monaco Yacht Club and the New York Explorers Club and I am a member of both and honored to be here.” 

The awards are a way of promoting men and women who are true explorers, perpetuating YCM’s fundamental  Art de Vivre la Mer  values.  

Earlier in the week the inauguration ceremony of the first Explorer Dock also took place. The seven yachts displayed on the quey of the Club, M/Y Beyond Capricorn,M/Y Prometej, M/Y Audace,M/Y King Benji, S/Y NDS Evolution,M/Y U Boat NavigatorandM/Y Santandrea, represented a combinationof passion for adventure and innovation.

Le Yacht Club de Monaco a accueilli la 2e édition du Monaco Smart Yacht Rendezvous, soutenue par la Fondation Prince Albert II, aux côtés de partenaires majeurs tels que UBS, Sindalah, du chantier naval MB92 Group et de Wider Yachts.

Promouvoir les solutions durables et les nouvelles technologies pour l’industrie du yachting, notamment pour les yachts de plus de 24m, tel est l’objectif du Monaco Smart Yacht Rendezvous.

Le Yacht Club de Monaco délivre des prix pour récompenser l’exploration et l’innovation

À travers cet événement de networking et dans le prolongement du Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous (22-23 septembre 2024), l’objectif est de favoriser la transition énergétique et d’encourager des solutions responsables au sein de l’industrie du yachting.

«  Naviguer vers un horizon durable dans l’industrie du yachting nécessite non seulement du vent et des voiles, mais aussi de l’innovation et un engagement collectif, a déclaré José Marco Casellini, Directeur général de Monaco Marina Management.

Des innovations scrutées par un jury international

De la conception au démantèlement, chaque décision nous oriente vers un avenir où la conscience rencontre l’excellence. Exploitons l’air du changement et dirigeons notre industrie vers un océan d’actions éthiques et responsables.  »

Ces innovations ont été présentées aux membres du jury international composé d’une vingtaine de professionnels de l’industrie et d’investisseurs lors des 149 entretiens en distanciel. 

Les participants ont ainsi pu partager leurs expertises pour poser les bases de ce que sera le Smart Yacht de demain lors d’ateliers spécifiques.

Un nouveau ponton à hydrogène dans la marina du Yacht Club de Monaco

« On a besoin de start-ups, on a besoin d’idées, on a besoin de la jeune génération pour changer les erreurs faites par le passé » a rappelé l’explorateur Mike Horn .

Très intéressé par la zone d’exhibition, l’explorateur est ainsi allé à la rencontre des différentes solutions exposées, comme par exemple Beyond the Sea du navigateur Yves Parlier, ou encore Coreod Space, une start-up française qui a présenté son casque de réalité virtuelle alimenté par IA.

Palmarès des Smart Innovative Yacht Awards 2024

Le jury international, composé d’une vingtaine de professionnels du Yachting, mais aussi d’investisseurs, a remis cette année deux Smart Innovative Yacht Awards. La start-up Composite-Recycling et la scale-up Greenboats ont été récompensées.

Guillaume Perben, co-fondateur et Directeur général de Composite-Recycling.  « Nous recyclons des matériaux composites qui servent à fabriquer des bateaux et des éoliennes et nous leur permettons de devenir de nouveaux bateaux, de sorte que nous fermons la boucle des matériaux constitutifs .  Nous sommes très heureux d’avoir remporté ce prix pour le travail que nous faisons sur le recyclage des bateaux et pour rendre la navigation de plaisance durable et quelque chose qui ne nuit plus à l’environnement . »

Loris Schimanski, Business developper chez Greenboats :  « Nous sommes ravis d’avoir remporté ce prix et d’avoir été reconnus par tous ces géants de l’industrie. Ces dernières années, nous avons travaillé d’arrache-pied dans le domaine de la recherche et du développement pour tenter de mettre au point des fibres capables de rivaliser avec les fibres de verre et, mieux encore, d’être plus légères. Il s’agit d’une solution basée sur des panneaux qui peut être mise en œuvre plus facilement dans les grands chantiers navals afin de réduire l’empreinte carbone . »
