About the Business

The "best kept secret in Marin County" Loch Lomond Yacht Club is located in San Rafael, California, on the water in the Loch Lomond Marina.  We are a volunteer club and average 125 members.  We promote the yachting of power boats and sailboats by hosting cruise-ins and cruise-outs.  However, it is not necessary to own a boat to become a Member.  We also host a variety of social events, such as Happy Hours, Theme Dinners, Sporting events, Family Nights and Saturday events.  The Clubhouse is available for private events. The bar is fully stocked with a wide selection of wines, beers and liquors.  Situated over the marina, the back deck is an ideal place to relax with stunning views of the boats and the San Rafael Bridge. Best little yacht club in San Rafael. Always a fun friendly group to hang with. Fridays are always welcome.

Great group of people. Kind Fun. And a wonderful view. Bring friends and celebrate.

What a fun and warm experience. Our son, Clark, joined with a family membership and is active here, at times tending bar and otherwise pitching in to help when needed. This is very common with the membership, making Loch Lomond a very nice, family and social venue. It is a group-run club, so members work along with the few hired hands. Very nice and communal. Everyone greeted my wife and I as friends and part of their family. And their family consists of seniors, retired, working men and women, boaters and aficionados of the water and water crafts. The day we attended we were with our son's family with two active boys, 4 & 8 years old. They played with a basket of toys on the dance floor while we ate a buffet of hot dogs and sides, drank beer and other alcohol concoctions and were treated warmly as if we were members, too. Children are welcome if supervised by parents. A great place to relax situated in the marina, right on the water. In fact, there is a dock for visitors and members who happen to be on the water, so a few people joined us stepping from their boats up into the club. We will be back when we are visiting. A very nice place with very nice people. Their pride is in their motto: Best Kept Secret in Marin. Now you know.

Fun and friendly place. Can't argue with $4 Lagunitas IPAs. They do a lot of events including Friday dinners. You do have to be a member of a yacht club (the have broad reciprocal privileges) or come as a guest of a member.

The Loch Lomond Yacht Club is a small pocket harbor for sailors and power boaters in the Loch Lomond Marina. The club’s location is in a serene and beautiful area nestled between historic China Camp and Mt. Tamalpais. The marina offers over 500 berths and is managed by Safe Harbors. All boaters are alerted to check tide charts and navigation info thoroughly as their channel is narrow and the directions should be followed exactly. Directly across from the Loch Lomond Yacht Club is Andy’s Local Market, https://www.andyslocalmarket.com/ with a reputation as one of the premier markets in Marin (you can even sip coffee or wine as you shop)! 

SLIP FEE: 

$25.00/boat/night, plus $15.00 gate key deposit includes power and water. They  can accommodate 6-10 boats at Guest Dock depending on length ened and   beam.  Additional boats will be accommodated in empty berths throughout the  marina. Vallejo Yacht Club is also holding a Cruise-Out to LLYC that weekend.

FACILITIES:  

The Guest Dock in front of clubhouse is 107’ long. Side docks are 75’ and  35’ respectively. Visiting yachts stern to on the Guest Dock.

APPROACH: 

Channel Entrance: 37° 58.02 N, 122° 28.96 W 

Marina Entrance: 37° 58.28N,  122° 29.00 W 

BEWARE OF SHALLOW WATER. 

San Rafael Channel was dredged in Fall 2022 and has 8 feet at 0 tide. Guest dock has 5 ft at 0 tide. 

Directions provided by LLYC: From the South:

1. Heading north, pass under Richmond-San Rafael Bridge

2. Head for green dolphin number 17, FL G 4S, 15 ft 

38° 57.425N, 122° 27.421 W

3. Enter the San Rafael Canal heading 279° M

4. NOTE: Canal depth varies depending on tidal conditions. Two hours before to  two hours after high water, the canal depth should be eight feet or more.  However, during a minus tide, the canal depth can be as low as 3.5 feet. Deeper   draft vessels should transit two hours before to two hours after the tidal high   water time.

5. On entering keep green dolphin markers, numbers 1 and 3, to port. Sighting   the markers ahead and behind, stem the wind/current as needed.

6. Do not pass the dolphins close aboard. Stay off about 40 feet where channel  is dredged for a 60 foot width.

7. Just before dolphin 5 the “Dog Leg” will branch off to starboard. It is clearly   marked by pilings and has a slight bend to port.

8. Turn after you can sight straight down the dog leg channel. Do not cut the   turn short as the bottom shoals slightly in the “V”.

9. Loch Lomond Marina entrance is marked by a set of pilings to port and   starboard.

As for racing? Byers said LLYC hasn’t held races in about 25 years.

“This is a very new program for us. We have a small but growing fleet of local sailors from not only Loch Lomond YC, but from San Rafael and Marin YC as well.” It’s no wonder the members are celebrating!

This year’s racing consists of a beer can series on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. And while they use various courses throughout the season, a typical course is “from the start at 17, south to G15 just north of the west tower of the west channel of the Richmond Bridge, then north to a port round of East Brother Island, then back to the finish at G17.”

“Members of any yacht club on the planet can race with us!” Byers added. “If a skipper does not belong to a yacht club, but berths their boat at Loch Lomond Marina, they are welcome to race with us as well. Yacht club members who cannot make it out for the race itself are more than welcome to join us at the club after for drinks and the bbq.”

Thursday night beer can races will continue through to September 30, and conclude with “The Oily Chicken Regatta” — the two top-scoring boats battling it out over a “long distance” race from G17, south to R2 just west of the Richmond Long Wharf, then north to The Pumphouse at the entrance to the Petaluma River Channel, passing in between Point San Pablo and The Brothers. The race will then continue south to the finish at G17, passing between The Sisters, and Point San Pedro. “A pretty creative race course if you ask me!” Byers said.

But the fun on the water won’t end there. Racing will resume in November with a midwinter series on Saturday afternoons. The all-volunteer club also hosts weekly Friday night dinners, and (pre-COVID) an event at least once every Saturday. “We also have several weekend cruise outs to spots around the Bay and Delta,” Byers told us.

The VIP service available at this club is top-notch, and you should visit this club if you can spend a lot.

LGBTQIA bar and clubs in Moscow

Although none of the bars can discriminate against the LGBTQIA community, there are a few unique hangout spots for the community. You can meet new people as well as enjoy yourself with your old buddies at:

The Boyz club is a popular LGBTQIA nightclub in Moscow. Mostly the youth of the city visit this highly energetic joint. The place is extremely spacious. It has around three bars, one lounge bar, and two dance floors. If you do not enjoy dancing, you can start using karaoke equipment instead. The parties at this place are to die for. Boyz Club stays open till 10 am on weekends. The parties that are hosted at this place are wild. You can find several music events as well as drag shows at Boyz Club regularly. 

It is probably the most famous and oldest LGBTQIA bar in Moscow. Propaganda opened its doors for its customers back in the year 1997. It functions as a café in the morning where you can get the best cuisines in town. But at night, the whole look of this place changes. The LGBTQIA night events are hosted mostly on Saturdays. It is a place where everyone feels accepted. The staff is extremely friendly and quick with orders. 

If you want to witness cabaret shows, this place should be on your itinerary.  The energy of this club is infectious. Despite the decors being changed almost every year, the bar has held onto its authenticity. The warm and comfortable atmosphere can make anyone feel at home. The travesty shows are held on every Friday and Saturday. These shows begin at 1.30 am and go on all night long. 

• Central Station

Central Station is another decent LGBTQIA club in the city. There are about two dance floors with very different kinds of vibes. You can call your entire gang to their karaoke club and have a gala time. During the summer, you can hang around on the terrace. Drag shows are a regular event at Central Station. The prices are reasonable, and the staff is extremely efficient at this place.

This after-party venue makes you feel like you have been transported to Berlin. The interiors of this place have an industrial feel to them. During the day, this acts as a bike repair shop. But at night, you can party at Entuziast till late at night. Mostly the hipsters tend to party at this place. The bar is made up of metal, and you can see racing flags all over the place.
