Superyacht Nord in Maldives
Currently exploring the countless islands of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean is the 142-metre superyacht Nord, owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov.
Since late December, Nord has been spotted in Baa Atoll, home to several world-leading luxury resorts, as well as the southern island-atoll of Fuvahmulah, which is world-renowned for diving with tiger sharks.
Delivered in 2021 as one of the largest superyachts in the fleet at 10,154 GT, she was built at the German shipyard Lürssen in Bremen with Moran Yacht & Ship overseeing her build. Formerly known as Project Opus, she was designed inside and out by the Italian studio Nuvolari Lenard.
Made from steel and aluminium to PYC standards, the warship style vessel encompasses six decks and can accommodate up-to 36 guests across 20 cabins.
On bridge deck level, a large helicopter landing deck aft with fold-down side platforms provide shelter for Nord’s helicopter that can be stowed away in a retractable hangar that slides neatly into the superstructure when not in use.
A large sports and diving centre on the lower deck, oversized swimming pool on the main deck and a fleet of custom tenders are just some of the other features on board this impressive vessel.

New superyacht-to-resort partnership lets you cruise to Waldorf Astoria Maldives
Chartering a superyacht is always a good time, but it’s even better when you’re also given access to one of the most luxurious hotels in the Maldives.
This winter, SuperYachtsMonaco and Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi are offering an unparalleled charter experience aboard the iconic Maltese Falcon that includes a spot of indulging at the secluded five-star resort.
With this new partnership, all charter guests will be given day passes to the idyllic Waldorf Astoria that comprises the entire island of Ithaafushi in the South Male Atoll. No other day visitors will be allowed on the private island while you’re there, which means you’ll only need to share the facilities with overnight guests.
While visiting, you can bounce between the 11 different dining spots, which range from a beach club with DJ to an upscale restaurant serving Levantine cuisine to the signature Waldorf Astoria lounge. You can also make use of the hotel’s aqua wellness centre and spa to rejuvenate or the dive centre for a bit of underwater fun.
But access to the resort is really just a sweetener to a stay aboard Maltese Falcon. Launched by Perini Navi in 2006, this 289-footer is still considered the world’s most radical sailing yacht and has won countless awards, including Robb Report’s Best of the Best in 2007. This winter marks the first time in history that it will depart Europe to head for the warmth of the Asia-Pacific.
The 12-year-old truly gives seafarers the best of both worlds—that is, the luxury and comfort of a motor yacht along with the performance and speed of a sailer. The elegant interior, created by Ken Freivokh, features a full-beam master and five double suites that can together sleep up to 12 guests. Elsewhere, there is a gym with a personal trainer, as well as a fully-staffed spa with a hair salon and a massage room. The superyacht also houses a spectacular art collection and a full suite of water toys.
As for grunt, Maltese Falcon has three giant rotating “Dyna Rig” masts that each support five sails. This setup gives her an impressive top speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of 3,000 nautical miles.
The hardest part will be deciding how to split your time between the resort and yacht.
Maltese Falcon can be chartered from roughly $522,000–$590,000 (€460,000–€520,000) per week. This particular partnership is only available through winter.

Nord Yacht: An Insider’s Guide
The Nord yacht was known as Project OPUS when it was still being built. It is one of the largest yachts in the world and was launched back in 2021. Like many yachts in the last year this was the target of international investigations and sanctions. However, unlike some other vessels, Nord managed to elude authorities and return to Russian waters. As such it has not been seized and no sanctions have been imposed against its owner insofar as the yacht is concerned.
According to reports, the owner was aware that a potential seizure was imminent where the boat was docked in the Seychelles. To avoid sanctions, a staggering $465,000 worth of fuel was pumped into the vessel before it set sail to Vladivostok in Russia. The non-stop journey was undertaken at full speed and covered 6,701 nautical miles which is pretty amazing. In order to make this work, the yacht had to shut off its mandatory location responders to evade notice by authorities.
Since that time, it has ventured out again and has been seen in Hong Kong, South Korea, the Maldives and, in 2023, it returned to the Seychelles.
Nord is one of the most expensive yachts ever built and features a vast array of features and amenities designed to give passengers a full luxury experience at sea.
Who is the Nord Yacht Owner?
The Nord is owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov (sometimes spelled Alexey Mordashov). Mordashov is the chairman and largest shareholder of Russia’s biggest steel and mining company Severstal. Though there are a number of billionaires in Russia, Mordashov ranks first if his family wealth is included. His fortune is estimated to be around $30 billion.
How Big is the Nord Yacht?
The Nord is an absolutely massive 466 feet in length, making it one of the largest yachts in the world . The beam of the vessel measures in at 64 feet while the displacement is 9,250 gross tons. It features a 17.7 foot draft and has the capacity to handle up to 36 guests at one time.
How Fast is the Nord and What Engines Does it Use?
Sources actually don’t agree on the internal working of the Nord. Lurssen, the yacht builder, does list the vessel’s speed at 18 knots which is actually in contrast to what other sources say which come in both higher and lower though they don’t specify cruising or maximum speed.
On the low end, cruising speed is listed at 15 knots. On the high end, maximum speed is listed at 20 knots. But, with Lurssen saying 18 knots, you have to take their word that it’s one or the other making either the 15 or the 20 incorrect.
Also interesting is that there is some disagreement as to whether the yacht has 2 or 4 MTU engines. It is generally agreed, however, that the Nord is working with 4,963hp MTU (20V 4000 M73L) diesel engines.
How Much Did the Nord Yacht Cost?
When the yacht was registered in the Cayman Islands the value was listed at $300 million. However, it’s also believed that this number is a bit of an undervaluation and the actual value of the yacht is somewhere around $500 million. If that higher number is true then the Nord ranks among the top ten most expensive yachts in the whole world.
It’s been estimated that annual running costs to handle all the fuel and crew salaries as well as upkeep and general costs are between $40 million and $50 million. Despite the high costs, the vessel is not a part of any yacht charter fleet and can’t be rented out if you’re in the market for a week on a luxury yacht.
Design and Features of the Yacht Nord
Superyacht Nord was designed by German yacht makers Lurssen back in 2021. The exterior and interior design of the yacht were handled by Italian design studio Nuvolari & Lenard. Like most yachts of its size it has a steel hull, teak decks and an aluminum superstructure.
It’s been said that the yacht was designed for exploration and long-range cruising. One of the designers said it’s a warship wearing a tuxedo, if that helps give you an idea of what the boat is like.
The bow is flattered at the front and features a massive nameplate which actually lights up at night. Some Russian billionaires are a bit sheepish about publicity and being seen but Nord wants to be seen and makes sure everyone notices it. Even the choice of paint, avoiding the typical white and going with champagne and deep blue accents plus blue lights, draws attention to every aspect of the yacht.
Amenities and Features
The motor yacht Nord has a prominent helipad located at the bow of the vessel and a very large pool located aft above the beach club. There’s also a second helipad and even a helicopter hangar on board. The hangar closes over the second helipad which is located on the top deck and is built into the main mast of the vessel.
A total of 36 guests can be accommodated in 20 cabins while there is also room for a crew of 50 on board. There are two elevators to help navigate the vessel’s six decks as well as some of the standard amenities you’d expect guests to be able to enjoy on a luxury yacht. These include:
- A fully equipped gym
- A beauty salon
- A tender garage which houses several tenders as well as a variety of toys and water vehicles
- A large beach club
- Massive dining hall and bar area
No pictures of the interior of the yacht have been made public so, as bold as the exterior looks, the interior details are still mostly under wraps.
The Bottom Line
Nord is owned by Russian billionaire Alexei Mordashov. The estimated cost of the vessel is a steep $500 million. The yacht is one of the largest in the world at 466 feet in length. It can reach speeds of 18 knots and has space for as many as 36 guests with a crew of 50.
Like many Russian-owned yachts, the Nord was almost seized in 2020 as a result of sanctions against Russian oligarchs as a result of the war in Ukraine. However, the vessel was able to elude authorities and was last seen in the Seychelles

Lürssen superyacht nord in the maldives.
The superyacht Nord has been seen cruising in the Maldives since last December. Fuvahmulah – a worldwide famous location to dive with majestic tiger sharks.

CAPE TOWN FOR CAPETONIANS
The no-show Nord: it would be hard to hide in Cape Town
Nord, the luxury superyacht belonging to sanctioned Russian oligarch Alexey Mordashov, left Hong Kong on 20 October and, according to the yacht’s automatic identification system (AIS), was scheduled to arrive in Cape Town on Wednesday.
It’s a no-show.
The vessel has gone off the radar, and tracking applications have been disabled.
According to Daily Maverick (DM), the $500-million yacht is now believed to be in the Maldives. Whether or not it will travel to Cape Town at all is now unclear.
The Transnet Port Authority told Business Insider that it has not received any written berthing request for the yacht, and the Waterfront has not received an application for Nord to moor in its waters either. An application needs to be submitted at least three days in advance.
Over the past few months, Nord is believed to have “fled” from the Seychelles to the east coast of Russia, from Vladivostok to Hong Kong, set off for Busan in South Korea, and was most recently expected to arrive in Cape Town.
“Perhaps the Mother City was a decoy”, adds DM. if(window.isMobile != null || window.isTablet != null){ document.write(' '); document.write(' '); googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('dfp-300x250-3'); }); document.write(' '); } Read more .

Russian billionaire's megayacht Nord was spotted in Maldives
The vessel was captured in a video shared by the eSysman SuperYachts YouTube channel.
Megayacht Nord of Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov was spotted in the Maldives. An aerial video of the islands, which hit a ship worth about $ 500 million, was published by the YouTube channel eSysman SuperYachts.
On November 9, Nord was expected in Cape Town - information that the yacht was heading to South Africa was circulated in the media in the second half of October. Before that, the yacht was seen in the port of Hong Kong. However, at the end of December, when the ship was off the coast of Indonesia, it disappeared from radar.
Controversy arose around the possible visit of a Russian businessman's yacht to Cape Town. The mayor of the city urged not to let Nord into the port. But the authorities were rumored to be ready to accept the megayacht.
For some time now, the yachts of Russian businessmen close to the leadership of the country have been at risk due to the current sanctions from the United States and the European Union. In particular, several courts were detained and arrested in the first half of the year.
As for Nord, the yacht has already sailed in the waters of the Maldives. The last time was in December 2021 and January 2022, shortly before the latest events in Ukraine and the introduction of personal sanctions against a businessman.

The best photos of 142m Lürssen superyacht Nord
The 142 metre Lürssen superyacht Nord is one of the largest and most secretive superyachts completed in 2021 . When she hit the water she joined the exclusive club of 100m+ superyachts and has swiftly become a favourite among yacht spotters and enthusiasts alike. We take a closer look at Lürssen's mega build...
Nord's helidecks
Nord is home to two helicopter landing pads allowing guests to come and go as they please in total privacy. The first can be found on the bridge deck aft with a retractable hangar that can concertina into the superstructure when not in use; a second larger helipad is positioned on the bow.
Nord in the Indian Ocean
Nord has already racked up some serious mileage since her delivery in Feburary 2021. She departed Gibraltar in April and headed straight to the Caribbean to catch the last of the winter cruising season. After a brief stay back at the Lürssen shipyard she spent summer cruising the Mediterranean before heading down through the Suez Canal and into the Indian Ocean.
If her champagne-tinted hull wasn't enough to make this vessel stand out, its nameplate certainly makes sure people know Nord is in town. Its unusual flared bow starts to square off as it meets the foredeck, which allows for a nameplate to be emblazoned across the front (and it even lights up at night).
Nord on the move
Nord was pictured here on sea trials under her build name Project Opus. The North Sea is a rite of passage for superyachts leaving the Lürssen shipyard and Nord was no exception.
Designed by Italian design studio Nuvolari Lenard , Nord features a total of six decks, which can all be seen clearly here. Speaking about the superyacht, studio co-founder Dan Lenard previously described Nord as "a warship wearing a tuxedo". The yacht is specifically intended for long-range cruising and global exploration.
Nord at dusk
In some lights, Nord's distinct hull colour seems to turn to gold with turquoise LEDs illuminating her nameplates and accents of the superstructure.
Nord at night
Nord's aft name plate lights up as night falls, while bright lighting illuminates the decks. One of Nord's fleet of tenders, the largest of which measures 15 metres, can also be seen here moored to the stern of the yacht.

Ever since Putin started the war in Ukraine , his associates and their property have been targeted by foreign governments, including the United States. More than a dozen other vessels have been taken from his allies, including superyachts like the $90 million Tango and the $325 million Amadea . Toward the end of last year, the total of the seized yachts had reached more than $2 billion.
But Mordashov’s Nord has so far been able to escape capture. Back in October of last year, the cruiser turned up in Hong Kong, before taking off for Cape Town. Once its stop in South Africa became known, the vessel turned off its transponder. Still, in November, Nord was spotted traveling between two islands in the Maldives. And now we know that it’s apparently making its way back to its homeland. (A spokesperson for Mordashov declined to comment to Bloomberg on the yacht’s movements.)
Mordashov—who’s been sanctioned by the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States—is no stranger to the yacht seizures, although he’s been doing his best to evade them. In March of last year, his smaller superyacht , Lady M , was taken by Italian police.
Nord has so far been able to escape that same fate. But now that the superyacht is back on the grid, we’ll just have to wait and see whether it’s capable of continuing its game of hide-and-seek with the authorities.

With only 200 of the islands occupied it is perfect for relaxing and unwinding completely undisturbed, exploring secluded beaches and swimming amongst an array of marine life. The islands are a fantastic winter charter destination and a good alternative to the Caribbean , ideal for hopping from one paradise to the next.
From the bustling markets, art galleries and museums in the capital of Malé to remote atolls with caves, pristine beaches and lagoons, this tropical paradise is a popular destination for the SuperyachtSet who flock here every year to enjoy the warm waters and colorful underwater worlds on offer, without compromising on supreme luxury, whether on board or at the myriad resort islands studded across the archipelago.
Originally settled by fishermen from Sri Lanka and India around 300 BC, the Maldives were inhabited by Buddhists for nearly 1,500 years – evidenced by the ruins of monasteries peppered across some of the islands. After this time Islam became the dominant religion after the islands' garnered interest from Arab traders, with coir ropes made from the husks of coconut shells being the dominant export from the 12th Century onwards.
Due to their strategic location on the major shipping routes of the Indian Ocean , the islands have been respectively governed by the Portuguese, Dutch and British over the centuries. In 1965, the Maldives gained their independence and today remain a presidential democracy. The islands’ also have strong cultural influences from Sri Lanka and India which can be seen in their music, dance, customs and local dishes.
The Maldives has become one of the most popular winter charter destinations for those looking for an alternative to the usual Caribbean “milk run”. It's not surprising that yachts are flocking to this country, with its glorious endless garlands of reefs, secluded aquamarine lagoons and deep-water anchorages, making it the ultimate yacht charter vacation.
If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a motor yacht or a sailing yacht for your Maldivian getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.
Motor Yacht Charters in the Maldives
With a good variety of motor yacht charter options available to you; from sleek, sporty models to larger superyachts with all the bells and whistles, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding your perfect yacht. That said, although there are plenty of deep water anchorages in the Maldives, smaller motor yachts can offer greater access to the reefs and lagoons.
Sailing Yacht Charters in the Maldives
Sailing yachts are a great way to explore the Maldives, with the optimum time during the monsoon season from November to April, which produces a steady north-easterly – perfect conditions for the sailing adventure of a lifetime.
Another popular choice is a catamaran , with shallow drafts and easy access to the water; these are the ideal boats for island-hopping and exploring exquisite clusters of coral reefs surrounded by waters in infinite shades of blue.
With the good variety of options available, there should be something to suit every type of budget in this region. The average prices for motor and sailing yacht charters in Maldives are as follows;
- For motor yacht rentals in the Maldives, prices can range from $62,667 to $1.1m per week, plus expenses
- For luxury sailing yacht rentals in the Maldives, prices can go from $62,407 to $290,879 weekly, plus expenses
The Maldives is located near the equator and so enjoys year-round balmy temperatures of between 25-30 degrees celsius.
The best time to visit this idyllic location is from November to April – during the Northern Hemisphere winter, with the busiest months being December and January . This period coincides with their northeast monsoon, which is the dry season and produces warm mild winds, perfect for yacht charters.
That said, you can still visit throughout the year, just bear in mind the winds might be less favorable, with more chance of rain.

Yacht charters usually commence in the North Malé Atoll , where the colorful and vibrant Maldivian capital of Malé is situated. With its central location, international airport and small yacht marina, it makes this spot the ideal gateway to the Maldives.
Explore Malé Atoll’s divine palm-fringed reefs and luxurious resorts, before heading north through the Hukurudhoo Uthuru Kandu channel to Ari Atoll , where you will find rich coral reefs abundant with colorful reef fish, as well as huge shoals of manta rays and barracudas.
Head north towards the stunning Baa and Raa Atolls , boasting world-class dive sites, exquisite tranquil reefs and an abundance of protected marine ecology, perfect for spotting the magnificent whale sharks that feed on the area’s rich sources of plankton all year round. The Northern Atolls also contain many Buddhist and Hindu monuments and artifacts, belying its diverse cultural and religious history.
In the more populated islands of the Southern atolls, you will find the romantic heart-shaped Addu Atoll , the quintessential image of the Maldives. Head to Gan , which boasts its own small international airport, and explore the Feydoo , Maradoo and Hithadoo islands on foot across causeways linking the islands.
Sample Itineraries
The newly developed Crossroads Marina Maldives is part of a multi-island integrated leisure complex, situated on the stunning Kaafu Atoll on the Emboodhoo lagoon – just a 15-minute speedboat ride from Velana International Airport , and a short hop to the capital of Malé .
This deluxe marina caters to yachts of up to 50m (164ft) and also boasts its own 800-meter beach. Its two linked island resorts, Saii Maldives Lagoon and Hard Rock Hotel, offer fantastic retail therapy, spas and wellness centers as well as exquisite dining options.
A number of other resorts in the Maldives have their own marinas, although they tend to have their own boats which are made available to guests staying at their hotels.
The Maldives is a developing yachting hub, with current plans for more marinas in the pipeline, including in the capital Malé and Dhonakhuli Island in the north.
There are a vast amount of extraordinarily breathtaking and diverse anchorages for you to choose from, peppered throughout its myriad saltwater lagoons and oceans that surround the palm-fringed reefs.
The most spectacular anchorages can be found around the Ari, Kaafu and North Male Atolls in the central region, as well as at Baa and Raa Atolls in the North. To the south, you will find plenty of good anchorages on Thaa and Addu Atolls .
So, relax, unwind and soak up the blissful paradise because this yacht charter promises to be out of this world. Dive into the inviting turquoise-blue waters and glide among colorful shoals of fish and exquisite coral islands – just don't forget your snorkel!
- The Baa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve and a popular hotspot for visitors wanting to see the shoals of manta rays and whale sharks. For this reason, the area is strictly regulated and there is an 80-person capacity at any time. Therefore, it is essential to book ahead to ensure you don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Have plenty of cash to hand as the only ATMs are in Malé. Although the Maldives has its own currency, US dollars are widely accepted.
- Some anchorages are in fairly deep water, which may be an issue for yachts with a smaller anchor chain. Plus, access to the lagoons through the coral reefs that fringe the atolls can sometimes prove problematic. This has been remedied in places where parts of the outer reef have been blasted away to facilitate access.
- Some of the best anchorages are based around the island resorts, but you should be mindful they will likely charge a fee to anchor or land your yacht at their resorts.
- Please note that the tap water is not drinkable in the Maldives, so bear that in mind if you plan to venture ashore.
- Be sure to respect the Muslim culture in the Maldives by adhering to their dress codes, especially around the towns and cities.
- Alcohol is prohibited in the Maldives, with the exception of the resorts.
The Maldives has three main areas: Northern, Central and Southern Atolls – each with their own unique characteristics.
Northern Atolls
In the northern region of the Maldives, you will find the breathtaking Baa Atoll , encompassing lush tropical islands fringed by endless powder-white beaches and phenomenal marine ecology, earning it the first UNESCO World Biosphere status . Visit the marine protected area of Hanifaru Bay on the eastern edge of Baa Atoll, and swim with thousands of manta rays performing graceful loops as they hoover rich plankton.
Another must-see is the eco Soneva Fushi resort where you can discover the art of glass-blowing, or enjoy stargazing from the observatory.
The Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru is an island sanctuary situated in the Biosphere Reserve, dedicated to conservation. This resort is the absolute last word in luxury, including wellness and ayurvedic spa therapies allowing you to squeeze in a heavenly pamper session during your yacht charter. For adventurous souls, it also offers a chance to explore the kaleidoscopic underwater world in your own personal submarine, without even getting wet!
Raa Atoll to the north has only recently opened to the public and retains an untouched beauty unrivaled anywhere else in the world.
Central Atolls
The Central Atolls encompass a number of popular island reefs in the region, including the North and South Malé Atolls, as well as the stunning Ari Atoll out to the west.
The Maldivian capital of Malé is located on the North Malé Atoll , a colorful island metropolis where you will be swept up in its rhythmic vibe and hustle.
Head over to the award-winning Conrad Hilton Maldives on Rangali Island and dine amongst shoals of fish and rays in the world's first underwater glass restaurant, Ithaa .
From Male, head south to the multi-island luxurious resort at Crossroads Maldives , linked with two other luxury resorts, which also boasts a marina that caters to yachts of up to 55m (180ft).
Many people visit the Central Atolls for diving, which is a truly transcendent experience. You will find excellent dive sites around the Rasdhoo Atoll , where you can swim amongst parrotfish, dolphins, blacktip reef sharks and hammerheads.
Some of the best-recommended dive sites can be found in the Ari Atolls, which includes Ulkulhas Thila in North Ari Atoll , a fantastic place to witness the majestic manta rays, as well as Kuda Tah Thila in the South Ari Atoll , teeming with masses of rainbow-colored reef fish – an unforgettable experience that will stay with you forever.
Southern Atolls
The Southern Atolls are renowned for their romantic secluded beauty popular with honeymooners and epitomized by the heart-shaped picture-perfect image of Addu Atoll , used in thousands of holiday brochures to sell the glorious dream of a Maldives getaway.
Addu Atoll is located in the extreme south of the Maldives, extending past the equator into the Southern Hemisphere. Once a British Naval base, there are numerous sheltered lagoons to anchor in. The Atoll is naturally protected from storms by its heart-shaped barrier reef, providing the area with a rich abundance of tropical marine flora and fauna, making it a superb spot to snorkel in the calm turquoise waters. To the west lies the populated Addu City , as well as a number of luxury resorts.
Gan island , located in the southern end of the Atoll, has its own international airport with regular flights from the capital, Malé.
Many islands in the Southern Atolls are uninhabited, filling you with a sense of peace and tranquility as you decide on which exquisite white sandbar to set up your picnic.
The Maldives is an increasingly popular destination for yachts, however, the selection of yachts is not as comprehensive as for the Mediterranean, therefore it would be wise to book your yacht charter well in advance of your trip to ensure you secure your perfect yacht and itinerary. There tends to be a fair amount of red tape when cruising the Maldives, such as permits and various local taxes, therefore it is essential your yacht charter broker is familiar with the country's rules and regulations around the various islands.
There are so many amazing places to see and experience, an experienced broker can help you choose the perfect itinerary to make your dream yacht charter vacation become a reality.

Maldives Yacht Charter Q&A
There should be ample yachts for charter in the Maldives, so you can be sure to find an option that suits both you and your budget, although we do recommend booking early to ensure you secure your perfect yacht around your preferred dates and itinerary.
Before you book, you should factor in additional costs that aren't covered in the base rate, such as berthing, fuel, local taxes, food and drink and crew tips.
Most yacht charters in the Maldives start off from its bustling capital Malé, located on North Malé Atoll. With its central location, international airport and yacht marina, it makes Malé the ideal gateway to the Maldives.
Alternatively, for yacht charters cruising the southern atolls Gan is a popular choice, with its own international airport serving regular flights from the capital it is the ideal jumping off point for yacht charters around these spectacular reefs, including the much-photographed heart-shaped Addu Atoll, as well as the stunning Feydoo, Maradoo and Hithadoo islands.
To discover your perfect yacht, please browse our site for a comprehensive catalogue of yachts available to charter around the Maldives. If you make an enquiry, a yacht charter broker will contact you with a customised yacht charter proposal based on your requirements.
Alternatively, you can reach out to your preferred yacht charter broker , and they will help you find your ideal yacht and preferred dates for you and your charter party.
With its proximity to the equator, the Maldives enjoys year-round balmy temperatures. The best time to visit is in the dry season which occurs during the Northeast Monsoon between November and April, coinciding neatly with the Northern Hemisphere winter.
Here are some things to consider;
- The northern Baa Atoll (UNESCO Biosphere reserve) – the area is strictly regulated with an 80-person capacity at any time. Therefore, it is essential to book ahead to ensure you don't miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime experience.
- Some deep anchorages, plus shallow access to some of the reefs can prove problematic.

The first pavilion of Crocus Expo IEC hosted an extraordinary exposition of the 5th International exhibition of yachts and boats Moscow Boat Show. The show had been incredibly famous for five years already not only thanks to the specialists of the market segment as well as professional sportsmen but also thanks to those who consider sailing sport to be their hobby and well cherished dream.
Moscow Boat Show 2012
The organizer of the project was the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The show was supported by Aston Martin Moscow, Burevestnik Group logistics department and the Yachting specialized magazine.
The exposition space increased up to 30 000 sq m and was accommodated in all 4 exhibition halls of the fairgrounds! 280 Russian (Arkhangelsk, Vyborg, Kazan, Kaluga, Republic of Karelia, Moscow and Moscow region, Nizhny Novgorod, Novorossiysk, Novosibirsk, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, St. Petersburg, Sverdlovsk region, Sochi, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen and Yaroslavl region) and foreign ( Denmark , Germany , Holland , Greece , Spain , Italy , Cyprus , China , Latvia , Poland , USA , Turkey , Ukraine, Finland , France , Montenegro and Croatia ) companies participate in the show.
Moscow Boat Show provided the perfect platform from which to preview new products, evaluate market trends, and establish long-lasting and commercially profitable partnerships. Despite the dynamic changes taking place in Russia and the rapid growth of the yachting sector, the show continued to complement and reflect the industry’s demand and is a promotional opportunity not to be missed!
Unique exhibits were presented at the show for the first time: exposition of private submarines from U-Boat Russia company, Marquis Yachts 420 SB motor yacht from Sport Bridge S. Marine series, SAGA-415 yacht from Saga Boats Norwegian shipyard, Jetlev-Flyer from MS Watersports.
Moscow Boat Show a Great Success
More than 400 yachts were displayed within the frames of the event including the largest boats ever exhibited in Russia – the 19-meter giant motor yacht Princess 54 as well as the Princess 50 yacht from Nord Marine and Baja speed boat from Burevestnik.
Domfinland OY unveiled a luxury project from Finnish real estate: a seaside premium class hotel in Hanko named consonant with the location Merihanko.
The trade fair was traditionally opened by a Gala Opening Ceremony. Arcady Zlotnikov, First Deputy Director Crocus Expo IEC, was the first to take the floor at the official opening ceremony. He greeted warmly exhibitors, guests and visitors of Moscow Boat Show. Nikolay Krjuchek, Deputy Chief of the State Inspection on Small size Vessels (GIMS) of the Ministry for Emergency Situations of Russia, Georguiy Shaiduko, Acting President of the Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS), Olympic champion in Atlanta and Ekaterina Grishechkina, Director of exhibition Moscow Boat Show also spoke at the ceremony.
The high-ranking guests noted dynamic development of the branch which well reasoned the intensive growth of the exposition and appearance of rather unique “gems”.
A number of business meetings and negotiations were held within the frames of the project: the exhibition was visited by a large delegation of Greek businessmen for the purpose of establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian colleagues.
More than 400 yachts on display at the Show
Russian Yachting Federation (VFPS) celebrated its 100 anniversary within the frames of Moscow Boat Show and arranged an exposition of future sailing sport museum (rare awards, gifts, articles from private collections, pictures and etc.) which had been collected since 1912.
Due to carefully chosen running dates the show was visited by more than 26 000 people. The majority of the visitors were of targeted audience – vessel owners and specialists of the branch.
The work at the next edition of the show is under way! The show will be held in March 2013. The overall exhibit space will comprise 40 000 sq m. The exhibition will impress with exclusive exhibits and the latest technological achievements.
Moscow Boat Show was not only an entertaining but at the same time a business promotional event. Participation in the trade fair was a unique opportunity to present a company and products to a distinctly selected targeted audience of industry specialists. They were well prepared to discuss business in the Russian market and even to close a deal on-site.
The show helped representatives of yachting business to get acquainted with their Russian colleagues and gradually improved national yachting market to a new level. It is obvious that for 5 years of its running the project has turned to a status event of the international exhibitions calendar.
