Zadar

Zadar  is an ancient  Mediterranean port  city. The old town, surrounded by walls and towers on a peninsula, with a new, urban part is connected by a bridge, a symbol of the city.

Built on Roman urban principles, where there are several major longitudinal streets traversed by a greater number of latitudinal streets, give the city a rectangular shape. The old town is a treasure trove of archaeological treasures and monuments to the ancient, medieval and Renaissance periods. This is visible by a number of sacral and architectural monuments – the church of sv. Donat [St. Donatus] where every summer the sounds of Zadar's musical evenings echo, the Roman Forum near the main square, Kalelarga - the longest and widest street, the Cathedral of sv. Stošije [St. Anastasia], an Archaeological Museum with its exceptional treasures and many other monuments of cultural and historical heritage (town gate, Arsenal, churches, museums...).

Zadar  is a powerful cultural and economic city whose life is comfortable all year round but shows all its splendor in the summer. Visit the traditional events or contemporary events like the full moon nights, Zadar dreams, Millennium jump, Kalelarga art... Enjoy the  Mediterranean cuisine , taste the sweet Maraschino cherry liqueur, and take a swim from one of the sandy beaches in the Zadar area!

WHATSINPORT.COM: YOUR CRUISE GUIDE TO 1200 PORTS OF CALL

Interactive world cruise map, home | cruise ships | port expenses | hints and tips, zadar croatia cruise port guide.

Zadar port is placed in the heart of the city. This position provides direct access to shopping places, sightseeing and other contents in the town. The passenger transfer to the port is fast and easy because walking distance between different localities is not more than 20 minutes. Only smaller ships dock here.

A new passenger terminal was officially opened on April 24, 2019 at Zadar Cruise Port. The new Zadar terminal building extends over 18,000 square metres on two floors. Larger cruise ships dock here.

As the citycenter is far away (4 KM) from the terminal in Gaženica, the authorities offer a shuttlebus, at the discretion of each of the cruise lines, that wll drop you near the sea organ, which is close to the center of town. Approx 15 Euro if this service is in operation

There is a local bus stop at the port and it can get you to town for a few Euros. First you should take the bus #9 (Liburnija bus line) which takes you to the central bus station. There, change buses and take #2 or #4, they will take you straight to the old town. The buses run every 30 min approximately. Buses #2 and #4 will drop you off at the Sea Organ in old town.

The sea organ, which, depending on the wind and waves, you can hear as soon as you get off the ship.

The musical Sea Organ (morske orgulje) is located on the shores of Zadar, Croatia, and is the world's first musical pipe organs that is played by the sea. Simple and elegant steps, carved in white stone, were built on the quayside. Underneath, there are 35 musically tuned tubes with whistle openings on the sidewalk. The movement of the sea pushes air through, and – depending on the size and velocity of the wave – musical chords are played. The waves create random harmonic sounds.

Sightseeing:

The town of Zadar with its region boast an important and rich artistic patrimony dating from Roman times to early Christian times and early Croatian medieval times; above all there are many sacred buildings worth visiting together with the extraordinary testimonies of a millenarian culture.

The marble, traffic- free streets of the Old Town are replete with Roman ruins, medieval churches and several fascinating museums. Massive 16thcentury fortifications still shield the city on the landward side, with high walls running along the harbor.

Zadar is located opposite the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, from which it is separated by the narrow Zadar Strait. The promontory on which the old city stands used to be separated from the mainland by a deep moat which has since become a landfill.

Shopping and food.

The City of Zadar is not only known for its historical and cultural monuments but also for its amply supplied vegetable and fish markets on the peninsula (a part of the old city). The market is daily supplied with fresh fruit and vegetables from the rich hinterland of "Ravni Kotari", the fruitful waters of Lake Vrana and the islands of Ugljan and Pasman. Judged by the variety of goods on offer, it is one of the largest markets in Croatia. The market is not only frequented for supplies, but also for the bustle, the abundance of color and the haggle with the local women merchants.

In the direct vicinity of the "green market" is the fish market with an exceptionally diverse offer of fish and seafood, as well as salted sardines by the piece. The fish market is situated close to the promenade, where lively colored fishing boats of all sizes lay crowded in the morning. The fishing tradition in these parts is very old (1995 marked the 1000th anniversary since the first written account of fishing in Croatia – Sali / Dugi Otok) and the most famous fishing town on the Adriatic is situated on the island of Ugljan. Just as at the market, here too it is necessary to haggle with the merchants, and, even if on that particular day you end up without fish on your menu, you will still have enjoyed the scent of the sea and heard the arguments of fishermen in the local dialect.

Sailing conditions

When you rent a catamaran in Zadar… enjoy a typical Mediterranean climate. In summer, the average temperature is 27 degrees Celsius during the day - in winter it is around 3 or 4 degrees. The Maestral, a north-westerly wind blowing from the sea towards the land, not to be confused with the mistral and tramontane winds, makes the summer season very enjoyable, and island-hopping all the more appealing. That is why we advise you to sail between April and September, as your skipper will have the best sailing conditions. Croatia remains a high-pressure tourist zone in the middle of summer, during the months of July and August. If you are looking for more peace and quiet, rent your catamaran charter in Zadar outside the summer period. Don't worry, because at the beginning and end of summer the temperatures are always pleasant in Croatia!

6-day Sailing Itinerary from Zadar

There’s so much to see and so many places to visit from Zadar, that one week just isn’t long enough to see and visit them all. Most places you go, you’ll find unspoilt beaches, bays, cliffs and islands, along with idyllic little fishing and farming villages, so you can’t go too far wrong, even if you just follow your nose and decide spontaneously where to go.

Zadar - 6 day sailing itinerary

This route takes in a lot of the nearby islands and clocks in at 116 nautical miles – which works out at just under 20 nM a day. As you’ll likely be going at a pace of 5 knots or above, that means the sailing should only take 4-5 hours a day, which leaves plenty of time to go at a leisurely pace, to explore your start or end destinations in depth, or to take your time and bob into bays, swim on some beaches, practice man-overboard drills, or just relax.

As we’ll be spending a night in the Kornati marine national park, it’s worth buying an entry pass in advance (since the ticket inspectors will sting you for an extra 50%, and they patrol the islands every night). The unwritten rule is that you need a pass for every day that you’re in the national park after 4pm, so if you’re following our itinerary, a one day pass should suffice.

Ist

From Zadar, we’re heading in a north-westerly direction. You’ll pass lots of other charter yachts heading other directions, but we’re heading off the beaten track to a small farming village on the island of Ist. The prevailing wind is landward from the sea, so it should be a simple reach or broad reach to sail there.

Ist is an island of vines and olive groves, as well as sandy beaches, and it’s a quiet and tranquil place to spend the night, even though there are ferry connections to other islands. There’s a couple of bars and a church, but essentially this is a place to get away from it all and to enjoy life on the ocean waves.

Veli Iz

There are beaches on the south side of Molat, or you could pop into the town itself – which, oddly enough, was visited by King Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson in 1939. But then we’re heading in a south-westerly direction, reaching against the prevailing wind as we follow the channels between the islands and to the east side of Iz.

Veli Iz is a small fishing village which also happens to have its own Roman fort and 14th century church. Founded by fishermen way back when, the village also has a number of decent seafood restaurants, and is famous for its decorative pottery (for which there is even a museum). Sadly, though there were 70 pottery companies on the island in bygone years, there is now only one left.

Zut

You certainly need to stock up because Zut is out in the wilderness. Situated in a sheltered bay which has been used by sailors for centuries, the tourist board built a pontoon and walkway in the bay in recent years to make it easier for sailors to get to shore, and to increase the number of jobs on the island by 1200% - from 1 to 12 people.

When you moor up you’ll find a couple of small shops and bars or eateries (don’t rely on them to be open, just in case, but they’re good if they are), and not much else. It’s a very peaceful bay to spend the night in, and a very unspoilt island to explore.

Piskera

There are beaches and bays to explore, and you’re allowed to walk on the islands if you dare to brave the heat. The view from the top of the hills is certainly quite special, but it can take a bit of effort to get there.

From Zut, we’re heading west (likely beating or close-hauled) to pass over the top of Kornati island - the biggest island in the national park – and following down it’s western coast in a south-easterly direction, probably in a broad reach against the prevailing summer wind. Enjoy weaving your way around the islands, finding beaches, bays and even bars on the largely unspoilt islands. You need to head slightly west to ensure that you hit the west coast of Piskera, but it is fairly straight-forward to find the well-sheltered marina and to moor up for the night.

Piskera is similar to Zut in that it is a marina which was built primarily to make the Kornati islands easier for sailors to explore, so you won’t find a town here – though you will find a restaurant, an over-priced shop (but heck, it’s in the middle of nowhere, so it can’t be easy to stock it up!) and modern toilet facilities. It should be another tranquil night, although the bar here can get quite lively if there are enough sailors in the marina.

Murter

Starting in a south-easterly direction until we reach the southern tip of Kornati island, we then need to bear north-easterly to traverse across the channel to Murter. This should be a simple run with the prevailing wind, and you might be able to get away with a broad reach, but bonus marks are available if you manage to goose-wing your way back towards the mainland.

Murter is the largest town on the island of Murter (which isn’t really an island any more, since the arrival of a road connection to the mainland). Surrounded by brilliant beaches, it’s also popular with land-lubbing tourists, and there’s plenty of lively bars and restaurants along the waterfront, which will make a change of atmosphere from Piskera and Zut.

The best beaches are on the west coast, and you could anchor up here if you had time, or, if you fancy some exercise, you could walk to the top of the hill (where there is world war two military base) and enjoy watching the sun set over the Kornati islands.

Milna

Working our way up the coast, we’ll sail past Biograd, which is one of the most popular charter bases in Europe, and the home to the biggest boat show in Croatia (check out our destination guide for Biograd if you want to find out more about it, but it’s not worth stopping there today as it will be busy with people returning their charter yachts).

Further up the channel is lovers island. This is the most perfect heart-shaped island in the world. It was only really ‘discovered’ after the invention of Google Earth, but it’s now a romantic destination in it’s own right, and hundreds of people come and propose here each year. It’s a romantic place to go, and it’s traditional to loop around the island (or make a heart shape on your plotter if you’re skilled enough) if you’re going past it, and throwing a euro into the waters around here is supposed to sort out your love life.

Follow the coast further north and you’ll arrive back at Sukosan (the biggest marina in Croatia) or Zadar marina. You should refuel your yacht or catamaran before returning the boat to roughly the same space you took her from on day one. Someone will come and inspect the boat, but you’ll still be sleeping on her tonight.

If you’ve not had chance to visit the old town of Zadar, then now is a good time to go and see the 3,000 year old UNESCO world heritage site. Most bars near both marina’s will be lively with happy sailors recounting their adventures to anyone who will listen tonight, and it’s the last night of the holiday for so many people that it shouldn’t be difficult to find a lively atmosphere.

Hopefully you’ve been impressed by the sun, sea, sailing and general tranquillity of the Croatian islands, hopefully your crew all got on well together (and maybe there was a holiday romance?), and hopefully you’ve had a brilliant, enjoyable and relaxing holiday. Have a safe trip home, and, when you start to miss the sea and the sunshine, remember to visit PlainSailing.com to start planning your next epic adventure!

Sailing Conditions

Croatia Sailing - Wind Conditions

The winds are particularly reliable throughout the sailing season, when local sailors claim that they can set their watch by them: there are Mistral winds during the day which peak between 9am and mid-day, then take a break for a couple of hours, before returning (“after lunch”) for another few hours at 3pm until dusk, when the winds die down to a light breeze, if anything at all.

The daytime winds are usually Force 4 or Force 5, and their prevailing direction is landward, which is driven by the sun – as the land warms up and the air above it rises during the day, air is sucked from the sea. A little further out from the coast, and away from the Mistral winds, then the winds shoots down the Adriatic channel into the heart of the Mediterranean.

Zadar - Average Temperature

We use three marinas in Zadar, each offering excellent and modern facilities, and great levels of care for our guests.

If you're staying in the area before or after your charter, we can recommend these places that are close to Marina Zadar and D-Marin Borik - Prestige design rooms or El mirador rooms - or these places next to Sukosan - Hotel Joso or White Residence .

Marina Zadar

Marina Zadar is based right in the centre of town, which means it’s quite an atmospheric place to spend the night, and there’s plenty of bars and restaurants. The marina also boasts its own casino!

Zadar, Croatia Port Guide

Zadar Port

You’ll find Zadar port in the beautiful Meditteranean country of Croatia; a country we are aching to visit  According to Wikipedia, Zadar is the oldest inhabited Croatian city which explains its vast amount of culture and history on offer. Zadar is located in Dalmatia which is the coastal region of Croatia. With it welcoming an average of over 450,000 tourists a year it is clearly a popular place for holidaymakers. All you need to do is google it and you can see why! Stunning coastal towns, beautiful beaches and plenty of roman history – there’s something for everyone!

location catamaran zadar

The cruise port for Zadar has close proximity to the airport and the country uses the Croatian Kuna as its currency – worth bearing in mind if you are used to cruising to countries using the Euro. Previously, before the newer Gazenica port was built, most ships had to dock on the smaller peninsula. The new Gazenica port is 5km southeast of the town making it easy and relatively quick to reach where you want to be. Transfers between the port and the historic centre take around 15 minutes, with shuttles costing about €15 for a return trip. It is best to take a shuttle or a pricer taxi as its quite a walk from the port to the city and you don’t want to waste too much time getting there when you only have limited time to explore! Once you are in the old town of Zadar you can happily explore the town on foot.

Exploring the Old Town

If you chose to stay local to Zadar and explore the Old Town then there’s plenty to keep you occupied. The town has a weekly market which is the perfect opportunity to mingle with locals and see what Croatian delights are on offer. The town also has a lovely promenade to explore and plenty of places to stop and grab a drink and a bite to eat al fresco.

If museum and history are your thing then there’s plenty of museums on offer in Zadar. The National Museum of Zadar is a great place to head to for an insight into Croatian life, it’s natural history and collections of fine art. There are various parts to the museum and frequently changing exhibitions. Ticket prices vary depending on which parts of the museum you want to visit so we recommend researching ahead of time and planning your visit.

location catamaran zadar

If travelling with children or those with inquisitive minds then be sure to check out the Museum of Illusions . This quirky museum is full of optical illusions and displays to trick your mind! From looking at their website it seems there is ample opportunity to get some cool Instagram shots here too if that’s your thing! The museum is open every day and costs 70kn (£8.20) for adults and 50kn (£5.80) for children, which seems a pretty reasonable price for something a bit different.

For those interested in glasswork then the Museum of Ancient Glass is likely to be a place of interest. The museum is located in the 19th century Cosmacendi Palace and has amazing views over the Jazine Harbour. The museum is home to rare glass collections dating back to the Roman era. Admission costs 30kn (£3.50).

The Cathedral of Sant’Anastasia (Zadar Cathedral) can also be found in the old town and dates back to 1177. It has been submitted to the UNESCO Tentative List of World Heritage Sites and looks simply stunning. It’s also the largest church in all of Dalmatia and has a very tall bell tower offering views across the beautiful town below.

location catamaran zadar

Something super unique to see in Zadar is the famous Sea Organ . Located on the peninsula’s north tip these pretty marble steps lead down to the waterfront and create a wonderful sound. The reason behind the sounds is a set of 35 musical tubes that the sea pushes against causing whooshing whistling sounds to create random musical melodies. Pretty unique I would say!

Excursions and Heading Further Afield

If you fancy taking a cruise excursion or heading on an adventure further afield that Zadar’s oldtown then there is plenty of choices. As well as offering tours around the main sights of Zadar many cruises will offer excursions to the Krka National Park, Paklenica National Park and trips to the towns of Sibenik and Trogir.

Krka National Park is one of Croatia’s natural beauties – an amazing park named after the Krka River and consisting of incredible waterfalls and loads of leafy green vegetation. The park includes the magnificent looking Skradinski Buk falls and is super photogenic. The park is roughly a 45-minute journey from the port by coach transfer and excursions cost around £55 from a cruise line or £48 from tour companies such as Get Your Guide .

location catamaran zadar

The equally beautiful Paklenica National Park is also offered as an excursion offered by most cruise lines visiting Zadar. The park is about 45-minutes from the port and visitors will be greeted with ravines, canyons and mountains when they arrive. The park is suitable and well know for hiking and some cruise tours will include a guided hike as part of the excursion. MSC Cruises offers an excursion to the park with a guided hike for £73 per person which includes transfers and packed lunch.

location catamaran zadar

The towns of Sibenik and Trogir offer a stunning insight into some wonderful cultural and historic Croatian gems. Trogir is actually a UNESCO World Heritage Site and so is well worth the visit! Tours to visit these unique towns start at about £50 from most of the big cruise lines.

location catamaran zadar

If walking tours are your thing then you can book one through Get Your Guide for £12 per person. This 90-minute tour around the old town of Zadar includes a sample of Maraschino liqueur and a taste of Pag cheese – yum! Local walking tours are often a great way to see the main sights, learn from an enthusiastic local and stretch your legs to burn off those cruise buffet calories!

We love the sound of cruising to Zadar and have wanted to visit Croatia for a few years now! I think if we were to dock here we would choose to visit the Krka National Park – it just looks amazing!

Sailboat or catamaran cruises in zadar: sail in style.

Zadar is located in the north of the Croatian region of Dalmatia. With an international airport, Zadar is well connected internationally, receiving flights from countries all over Europe, including Norway, the Netherlands, the UK, and Ireland. There are many marinas, both in Zadar and the surrounding area, where a wide range of sailing boats and catamarans are available for charter.

Start your sailing trip in Zadar and discover the Kornati islands, as well as a wide range of other idyllic islands in the Adriatic. Sail along the captivating Croatian coastline, lined with cliffs, sleepy fishing villages and historic towns. Dive into the turquoise blue sea and soak in the warm waters to cool off during your trip! The sun-drenched Mediterranean coast awaits you with one of the most popular sailing areas in Europe and the perfect charter boat is just a click away.

Get ready to make some memories with family and friends

No matter who you’re travelling with, a cruise in Zadar is sure to be absolutely fantastic. Adults will revel in the plethora of different water sports available to try, while children will enjoy splashing around with the inflatable water toys, making it the perfect type of holiday for the whole family.

If you’re after a more romantic trip with your partner, you could opt for a crewed cruise in Zadar and have an intimate meal for two onboard, catered by your own personal chef who can prepare some local dishes for your sumptuous feast. All this coupled with a breathtaking backdrop and a spectacular sunset is sure to set the mood perfectly.

Set sail with a skipper and crew for the ultimate relaxation

Whether you have sailing experience or not, a cruise in Zadar wouldn’t be complete without a skipper’s intimate knowledge of the area. They can take you to see all of the best things in Zadar, many of which you probably didn’t even know existed, while still working all of the things you want to see into the itinerary.

If you want to further enhance your experience, you can hire a full crew for your trip. This crew will typically consist of four to six people, including a chef, one or two hostesses, and one or more deckhands. This crew will ensure that you want for nothing throughout your voyage and will take care of things such as the cooking and sailing of the ship. However, if you want to learn a little about sailing, don’t hesitate to ask questions, as the crew will surely be happy to share everything they know with you.

Cruises from Zadar: set sail for the Kornati islands

Probably the most popular sailing route for a cruise in a sailboat or catamaran from Zadar is a trip to the Kornati islands. The Kornati archipelago consists of over 89 islands, reefs and rocks. Sparsely vegetated islands, spectacular cliffs and dreamlike secluded bays with deep blue, crystal clear waters await you. The wild, romantic landscape is very popular with sailors because it is an ideal place for nautical exploration. The sailing conditions here are ideal for a relaxing cruise where you can immerse yourself fully in the impressive natural beauty. Explore secluded bays and marvel at the rugged cliffs, all from aboard your luxurious catamaran or sailboat charter.

Another of the more popular sailing routes from Zadar sees you navigating past the headland to the islands of Ugljan and Pašman, before sailing on to Biograd na Moru or Murter. Alternatively, you can sail around Pašman to the large offshore island of Dugi Otok. The Kornati National Park begins just southeast of Dugi Otok and extends from Zadar in the north to Šibenik in the south.

The main island in the Kornati archipelago is Kornat, but others include Piskera, Levrnaka, Lavsa and Kurba Vela. On some islands, you will have the unique opportunity to visit prehistoric burial mounds or the ruins of past settlements. However, the real highlight of a cruise in a catamaran or sailboat to the Kornati islands is to explore the breathtaking labyrinth of islands and reefs. On the way, you can stop to explore the beautiful underwater world while snorkelling among the fantastic selection of marine creatures in the area. If you want to go on a dive, you can do so with an authorised diving centre in one of the nine marked diving zones, but even if you just want to enjoy your nautical adventure, while sunbathing on deck or in the hidden bays, a sailing trip to the Kornati Islands is definitely worth it.

It is best to buy your ticket for the national park in the marina before leaving. Entrance fees to the Kornati National Park vary depending on the size of the boat and can be anywhere from 300 to 600 kuna, provided you buy the ticket outside of an official sales point.

You will find plenty of moorings, in the well-equipped marina of Piškera, on Lavsa or at the jetties and piers of taverns and restaurants.

The largest marina in the region is located in Biograd na Moru. From here you can charter a wide range of sailing boats and catamarans.

Other desirable destinations for your boating excursion around Zadar

In addition to the famous Kornati islands, there are many other worthwhile destinations for your cruise in a sailboat or catamaran around Zadar that you can explore during your sailing holiday.

  • Pašman Island

The most spectacular sight on the island of Pašman is the Straža viewing platform, from which you can enjoy a panoramic view which stretches over the Kornati archipelago to the Velebit mountains.

There are also various hiking routes waiting for you on this island, including one which leads to Pustograd, a Byzantine fortress from the 6th century.

  • Dugi Otok Island

The picturesque island of Dugi Otok not only has breathtaking cliffs that plunge down into the deep blue sea but also Caribbean-like sandy beaches.

If you fly over the island, you will see a lake in the middle, which lies on the cliffs high above sea level and firmly stands out from the luscious green vegetation and heavenly white cliffs. This salt lake is located in the Telašćica Nature Park and is considered a natural gem on Dugi Otok, also named the “long island”.

Another place of incomparable beauty is Sakarun Beach on the northwest coast of Dugi Otok. Surrounded by fragrant pine forests, the turquoise water is impossible to resist for all who frequent this beach. The bay is ideal for a family beach day during your boating holiday.

In Veli Rat in the north of the island, you can visit the tallest lighthouse in the Adriatic, at 42 metres high. The views if you can persist until the top are simply sublime.

The island does not only offer spectacular holiday experiences above water, though. Dugi Otok is also known for the Brbinjscica underwater cave, which you can explore on guided diving tours, which are offered from April to June and from September to October. Brbinjscica is one of the hidden treasures of the Adriatic and should definitely be on your program if you go on a cruise in a sailboat or catamaran from Zadar.

After an eventful day, you can experience an unforgettable sunset from the water onboard your charter boat.

  • Kali Fishing Village

In just 15 minutes from Zadar, you can reach Ugljan Island by sailing boat or catamaran. There you will find the romantically picturesque Kali, which is famous for being a fishing village. Regardless of whether you want to try the tuna, octopus, mackerel or other seafood: everything in this village comes freshly caught and tastes absolutely incredible, especially after a day at sea. If you go on a sailing trip from Zadar in August, you can experience the local street festival Fishermen’s Night. This festival is unsurprisingly all about fish. There are cooking shows, multiple opportunities to sample delicious fish dishes and you can even attend concerts. The authentic atmosphere of Kali is definitely worth a trip.

  • Island hopping from Zadar

From Zadar, you can go on a cruise in a catamaran or sailboat around various Croatian islands. A trip to Molat, Ist and Zverinac is recommended, due to the plethora of things to see on the way. All around this area, you will find wonderful snorkelling spots and hidden underwater caves that are teeming with marine life.

You can also buy traditional souvenirs on the island of Zverinac, which is northeast of Dugi Otok. Taste local wine, cheese and olive products and soak up the authentic atmosphere of the village, before taking the chance to explore the military tunnels from the Cold War or the ruins of the Straža settlement.

You can often find good spots for mooring in places such as Brgulje Bay.

What different activities can you do on board during a cruise in Zadar?

Just a few of the things you can try during your trip include windsurfing, water skiing, scuba diving and snorkelling.

Which boat type is better, a catamaran or a sailboat?

When setting sail for a cruise in Zadar, it can be quite difficult to decide which boat you would prefer. Both boats will ensure that you have a terrific trip but they are definitely better suited to different experiences.

When you embark on a cruise in Zadar in a sailboat, you can expect a completely authentic trip in which you really get to feel the rhythm of the waves. However, this can also lead to an increased risk of seasickness and it is also true that they are less spacious than the double hull alternatives. However, you will save money on a cruise in a sailboat, especially in terms of docking space in the marinas.

When you embark on a cruise in Zadar in a catamaran, you can expect a voyage that is the epitome of luxury and comfort. The double hull structure of these boats ensure maximum space on board and the enhanced stability means that you are much less likely to suffer from seasickness. However, this enhanced comfort comes at a price and you will almost certainly have to pay extra for a cruise in a catamaran.

How much does a cruise in a sailboat or catamaran cost in Zadar?

Basic factors that can affect the price of your cruise in a catamaran or sailboat are the season and duration of the rental. Your choice of boat is also crucial. We have both sailboats and catamarans of various sizes, brands and models available. For a family vacation or novice sailing enthusiasts, a cruise in a catamaran is best for an unforgettable sailing experience in Croatia. Up to two families can travel comfortably on a catamaran because the double hull structure offers space for four cabins. Another plus point in terms of comfort is that catamarans offer increased stability and are affected less by the waves when sailing. This makes it much easier for you to cook, eat and sleep on board, as well as making it less likely that you will suffer from seasickness. However, the higher level of comfort will usually result in a higher price, both in terms of the rental price and also additional costs such as berths, due to the wider structure of the boat.

Another factor that can influence the price of a cruise in Zadar is whether you want to charter the boat with or without a skipper or crew. Larger boats and catamarans are often only chartered with an experienced skipper, who can give you lots of tips about sailing and interesting facts about the country and its people. You can navigate smaller sailing boats yourself if you are in possession of a valid boat licence and charter them as a bareboat. However, even if you have the appropriate boating licence, you may still wish to charter a boat with for the ultimate level of comfort and relaxation.

Extras such as stand-up paddleboards, diving equipment or jet skis can also often be booked.

As a rough guide, a cruise in a catamaran from Zadar can cost anywhere north of €2888 per week in low season or €4812 per week in high season, while a cruise in a sailboat will cost at least €1150 per week in low season or €2200 per week in high season.
